Hey Winter, Ive watched your videos for a long time but usually dont leave a comment. I just want you to know that i like your videos alot because of the way you cast. You explain things well, the counters to units and the “why” of things. I also like how you mention history of the players and certain unit changes snd overall you have a great sense of humor (mootalisk lol). I will continue to watch your casts, i just wanted to take some time to say this cuz i havent. ✌️
Great match between these two! Couple things to say: 1) It is highly unlikely Byun's wrist is psychosomatic. Making repetitive actions at the speed he does will cause wrist strain. Proper care are help reduce damage and prevent acute injury, but does not prevent wear. There is a good reason many construction workers have joint pain despite never having been injured. The body heals, but not perfectly. Micro strains accumulate. 2) It wouldn't be a "professional masseuse" , More likely an RMT(Registered massage therapist). The difference is in official medical licensing/education. a masseuse gives comforting massage. an RMT treats medical issues using massage. It's a pretty major separation that is commonly mistaken.
Honestly I'm so happy that burrowed banelings is seeing more use. I always wanted to see ppl put burrowed banes behind mineral lines instead of just a ling burrowed under the third. I imagine it would be much better if you just burrow 2 banes where the mineral line would be and just wait for the worker transfer. Or against terran even put them behind your own mineral lines to blow up the drops.
That last fight blew me away. Almost woke my wife up just uttering oh my God out loud over and over. One of the best ZvT serries I have seen! Thanks for sharing!
Its unfortunate that you can SEE the dramatic decrease in pace from Byun in the last game right before he lost almost his entire army. You can tell his wrists are killing him
Is there any up-to-date news on the status of Byun's wrist injury? I'm having a hard time looking it up, I want to know if he's okay, if this is more of a serious issue
I'm not sure of any recent news, but last i heard its bassically that during Lan tournaments he was kinda stressed out, and he tends to lock hist wrists up a bit, resulting in him hurting them kinda significantly. It's quite unlikely to be carpel tunnel, bassically every pro spends a lot of time working on strechs and proper hand positioning/movements so that the don't end up with a repetitive strain injury (also lnow as carpel tunnel syndrome)
Its so exciting watching an army of tier 1-1.5 crushing an army with tier 3 units in it. I love it. Its the epitome of skill, high tiered play and of course balance.
Turns out Vipers/Infestors are too good at countering expensive shit for 0 cost. At least Ghosts die as they're murdering things. Zerg Hivemind will do everything in its power to divert attention away from the cost effectiveness of 2 Vipers.
I have an idea regarding bane mines, I wonder if anybody tried it before. Burrow two banes together, then burrow one just a little farther down the path. The positioning should be such that the two are buried closer to the terran army (ie. usually just closer to the terran's base). Then take the single baneling and put his explode/unburrow on autocast. The idea is the terran army will walk over the two banes without noticing them, then into the single autocast bane who explodes. At that point if the terran notices and reacts, he'll most likely hit Stop on his units and cast scan. Assuming the army is medium/large size, it should be able to kill the banes almost instantly in that situation before the terran manages to react, and if the position is good, they'll explode right under their feet. Convoluted as hell, I know, and not very reliable, but once you set it up, it requires 0 attention from you, which has to count for something no? This kind of happened in the second game where Reynor had a bane buried and Byun kept walking over them as they were fighting, there was zero time to micro the bane but once Byun scanned, he *almost* killed like 15 marines (but not quite, since it was only a single bane).
Im still a noob learning zerg but why do ling v bio matchups zerg dont make anti air to crush the medivacs asap? Seems like they play cat and mouse for ages everytime
Just goes to show that 30 year old Byun with his wrists in searing agony, is still competitive with 20-year old world champion Reynor. They had to nerf Reapers twice just to make it fair for everyone else, but in the end, God himself issued a balance patch to Byun directly, so that other players could have a chance at winning. This is a joke of course, but in all seriousness, I feel bad for Byun, and while I don't know if recovery is necessarily a possibility, I do hope that he takes care of himself, and can continue to put himself out there to do what he loves, without hurting himself.
I swear there’s no Terran better at TvZ than ByuN - and the madlad is fighting nerfed due to his wrists most of the time lol. His decision making is just unmatched. He seems to know the race so well he ALWAYS knows when to commit and when to run away. It reminds me a lot of Zest just running at his opponents and the confidence in which they do it causes the other player to second guess and make mistakes 😂
it would be hilarious if there was a custom map that actually used Winter's hearthstone stats. Instead of race you pick the player. I think most people would play Reynor and 12 pool with 9 zerlings.
Winter, one of THE most important things to get when your wrists get messed up by gaming is NUTRITION! 100% Chelated Magnesium Glycinate as absolute king, followed closely by Potassium Chloride and Vitamin D3 and the entire B Complex. Magnesium and Potassium (and to a lesser extent manganese) are responsible for relaxing muscles and letting them relax. Excellent after a long hard gaming session. Vitamin D3 is absolutely essential for anti anxiety and healing inflammation. The B Complex (Vitamin B1 Thiamin, Vitamin B2 Riboflavin, Vitamin B3 Niacin, Vitamin B5 Panthenic Acid, Vitamin B6 Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamin B7 Biotin, Vitamin B9 Folate, and Vitamin B12 Methylcobalamin) is absolutely essential for reducing anxiety and getting out of the stressful “fight or flight” mode. Wrist pain is likely D3, Potassium, or magnesium deficiency. This goes for any chronic muscle pain. Mental imbalances are likely D3, the B complex, or magnesium. I used to play Melee at an extremely high level for a decade and destroyed my wrists to the point I thought I’d never recover. Once I found this info out I gained my life back, and more. I’m in better shape than before!
widowmines won't fire on eggs anymore? what, they were too hard to use in the first place? any amount of micro required for terran is way too much to ask for?
I quit two years ago. Is terran vs zerg still so much in favor of terran unless the zerg has a big skill advantage ? For example I feel the first game was unfairly in favour of terran and I always considered the Hydras underpowered in comparison to marines.
How many times does Byun have to school Reynor to stop massing naked lurkers without a protective army? I'll never understand why zerg pros run mass lurkers around with barely any support. Lurkers are like siege tanks and colossus - they're badass behind a wall of army, but on their own they're just sitting ducks. Super expensive dead ducks. Would be way smarter and more successful to leave like 75% of them as hydras to protect like 25% lurks along with the ling/bane. Both games Reynor massed all lurkers with almost no hydras left he got smoked when they insta-died, and all 3 other games where he stayed on hydras he closed it out.
Was much more interesting watching Gumiho's gameplay the other day. Watching Byun using MMMW for 90% of game 1, then a few ghosts at the end just gets kinda stale.
The only thing between Byun and another world championship is his human flesh prison.
he must ascend..
“From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine.”
@@jesseherndon7328warhammer 40k tech priest is what Terrans ascend to in the future.
I have to say this is the most professional SC2 I've watched all morning
15:32 that lurker looks like he's pushing a ball lol
New zerg canon unlocked.
I love that whenever winter brings up ByuN's skill he feels obligated to throw The Peoples Terran under the bus 19:15
it really is the dichotomie of terrans tho
Ironically, Cure is ranked higher.
“Sit down young man” cracked me up. Great game, great caster!

I don't think Winter meant it was psychosomatic so much as just mental stress worsens physical health more than what would be normal.

Reynor's sneaky throat punch with the vipers in the last game
Yeah... the presence of mind, the preparation, marshalling every tool at his disposal... and the execution...
Its unfortunate that you can SEE the dramatic decrease in pace from Byun in the last game right before he lost almost his entire army. You can tell his wrists are killing him

did he have any wrist injure prior to this match?
@@lamlequangchan443 Yes lots
53:50 That is clearly after 3-o'clock.
Very touch and go on that last game, wow!
i had no idea 3 reapers win vs a queen just with some pull back micro! Have to butcher this build later on ladder lol
1:17:35 Holy Crap Reynor is a magician.
This must be one of the greatest series I’ve ever seen, and I’m playing and watching that game for more than 10 years now
2:00 the fucking "blow them over you and fly under maneuver" was pertty sick
*munches popcorn* That's a lot of good SC2.
You do make my day Winter. Thanks for the fun casts bro!
Winter still manages the best commentary, enjoying his streams really a lot
I love those 2-3 tanks at the backlines doing tactical advantage.
Is there any up-to-date news on the status of Byun's wrist injury? I'm having a hard time looking it up, I want to know if he's okay, if this is more of a serious issue
It's carpal tunnel most likely

He is mostly fine but has mental trauma that rears up when stressed that makes him feel the pain again
That wrap up in the last match was masterful.
Its so exciting watching an army of tier 1-1.5 crushing an army with tier 3 units in it. I love it. Its the epitome of skill, high tiered play and of course balance.
Let's just assume the stims make Marines fire more accurately
Basically God saw Byun and said nah that guy needs to be nerfed he’s too strong
Now this was some beautiful StarCraft 2! Vipers at the end was a nice twist.
That reaper micro at from 1:56 on is out of this world!
thx a lot for all this cast
This match was Byunbelievable
I am not saying we should chop his hand off, but if it happens, it happens :D
Thx for casting this great series!
Before the last surround, Byun stayed on creep for almost a minute...which gave Reynor 600 mouse clicks to prepare the final fight. Too long imo
Maybe they are the fastest players, but I am the fastest clicker if I see them fight.
Well played.
pretty cool how it's generally accepted that late game versus zerg isn't winnable with terran and lol in general if you're a protoss
Turns out Vipers/Infestors are too good at countering expensive shit for 0 cost. At least Ghosts die as they're murdering things.

if you kill a spore crawler, does it equate to losing 150 on the resource counter? or 100?
50 for drone 100 for spore right?
Fungals/bane seem better than lurkers a lot of the time. Lurkers are so expensive if you include the hydra required to make them.
I needed to make popcorn twice for these epic castings.
THAT ENDING. WOW.
Im still a noob learning zerg but why do ling v bio matchups zerg dont make anti air to crush the medivacs asap? Seems like they play cat and mouse for ages everytime

Great series Winter. I'm starting to believe infestors can often do better in the place of lurkers in a lot of these fights.
❤❤❤thanks for making my days better every upload. Your a inspiring figure in my life

those widow mines are like... the opposite of Flo's... those hurt to watch
Game 2 was just like "bayling???"
Blocked off his own retreat!
I like muhreapers, they're such a versatile unit.
danm that was so good. byun kinda threw that last game but the finisher was still amazing by reynor. may his iron wrists come soon
maaan i wish i could do anything remotely close to this with my bio without just getting crushed by a massive ball of line bane hydra >.
called out on the D4 lol

Hey @Winter can you do like a bracketology thing so we know the story line? thanks, I think it'll help a lot with more subscribers
Infestor/Fungal would have been good in game 1.
Seems like those wrists didn't hold up. That last game Byun was winning but lost momentum.
Byun not having a reaper upgrade on his intro card is very disappointing

Byun is terrifying at full tilt. He is better than reynor, but zerg gonna zerg
Terran has to be the most annoying to VS by far >.< I feel like the tools to be good while lazy are too user-friendly
Love it
