For those saying thieves will figure this out, they have never actually talked to a car thief. There’re not going to sit in someone’s driveway trying to find a small hidden switch, they’ll simply move on to yours.

    I just talked my brother in-law to get one for his 2024 Raptor, the turds stealing cars here around Denver can clone a key and have the truck gone in 30 seconds. Why are people crying that this kit is $100?!!!
    The labour involved in making this kit is probably a few hours, worth way more than $100. Good for this guy for building an effective product and keeping the price down.
    The chances of someone taking the time to diagnose why a vehicle won’t start while they are trying to steal it are way low, most of these guys spend less than a minute before they move to the next one.

      The only thing I would argue is if these become popular, thieves will pop the hood, look for a wire hanging out the fuse box, and just yank the control there and swap a different relay around in its place or just carry a $5 relay with them. I took the high power wire going to the starter and put it across the contacts of the relay. I came out one morning and I saw my air cleaner sitting on the ground where my car used to be..
    I had no insurance on the car. I was 19.
    two days later, they found my car 40 miles away, they had washed the car and filled the gas tank. My small craftsman toolbox filled with all the tools I owned at the time was gone from the trunk. That’s about it. I got the car back and it seem to be fine. It was a convertible… that’s why they were able to get into the trunk without damaging the car..
    .. 31 years later, at my high school class reunion. I found out who stole my car by accident. One of my ex classmates made a little joke about it…

    It’s a good idea for a kill switch but, preventing the starter from cranking is a clear sign to a thief a kill switch is in effect. A better circuit is to kill the fuel pump. The car may start momentarily but, it will quickly stall preventing theft. They can crank it all they want with no start and you may be able to catch them in the act. That relay may work for the fuel pump. If not, they should make one that does.

    • @RichardJew-d9x

      @chrisgraham2904 2 месяца назад +14

      If a fuel pump switch were to fail, or be accidentally bumped off when your on the highway, you loose engine power, power steering and power braking. If the ignition switch is bumped off after the vehicle has been started, the engine keeps running. The ignition relay is only activated during the starting process.

    • @liquidsmokemustang1537
      @liquidsmokemustang1537 2 месяца назад +1

      @@chrisgraham2904 Interesting take. In my 50+ years of driving and working on cars, I’ve never had an automotive rated SPST switch ‘fail’. And since, in this application, it is hidden it would be pretty hard to accidentally turn it off. That is if it is placed in a good spot. My power steering is electric assist, so it will still work. And my power brakes will still stop the car with more pressure. In my youth, I had a lot of older cars. Some that would stall from time to time. I could still stop the car. Steering was a pain though.

    • @chrisgraham2904
      @chrisgraham2904 2 месяца назад

      @@liquidsmokemustang1537 I've certainly had aftermarket SPST automotive switches fail, particularly the $3 dollar Chinese product. They might be great for low power LED lights or other low amp applications, but RUclips is full of people using them for amperage higher than rated and on critical applications. At least spend $20 for an American Honeywell switch, preferably with a aviation, or military spec. Yes, it's all about hidden switch placement, but you don't want it bumped off by a water bottle rolling around the floor, or by someone's chihuahua. lol. I'm also an old guy (56 years driving) and raised with manual steering and brakes, but the 96 pound ladies driving a 3500 SuperDuty might be a little freaked out, if they suddenly lost power steering and braking.

You hide it somewhere in the dash or elsewhere and when you pass the magnet by it, it flips the switch and allows the vehicle to start. Nobody can tell/knows where that switch is hidden but you. Unfortunately not. What makes it so effective at keyfob cloners and relay hacking also prevents it from being started remotely. Many of our customers only activate the Kill Switch when they're in sketchy places.

    • @4122inc

      Most vehicles have a factory firewall passthrough--usually in the form of a rubber plug or grommet. Turn-key meaning all the components are included in the kit; you still need to run the wiring--but we make it as easy as possible. Check out the website and look through the installation for a better idea.

When it starts up right away the cam phaser rattles and im trying to avoid the rattle and avoid taking a chance of stretching the timing chain. • @vipercrazy
      @vipercrazy 2 месяца назад +1

      Most EFI systems need key on power to trigger injectors and ignition coils. So, you'd need a relay/switch that disables the fuel pump circuit, so even if the vehicle was bomb started, the engine would die as soon as throttle was applied due to lack of vacuum pulling the fuel through the injectors.

The relay they gave me doesn’t even fit my car and they took 2 weeks to reply back to send me another relay out. For basically $100 the build quality on these switches are absolute janky and cheap. You can literally see the hot glue they use to slap it all together. Oh and I forget to mention that once it’s all in place the switch doesn’t even work. And on top of that they didn’t even want to refund me. So I’m down $100 😁
