Major mistake I made, that I would like others to not make:
If you hear an animal call, it doesn't mean it's over the next hill! It's much closer: probably behind the next tree.
Instead of dashing into the direction of the call, stop immediately, make yourself small/invisible and LISTEN!
Use headphones. The direction of the rustling of leaves will tell you where the animal is.
Then slowly crawl toward or simply lure the animal towards you.
Good tip!
Also, some animals won't make a peep whilst you're running around so there's a chance you'll smack face to face with some before they take off. Ive already had it happen where im running after something i hit and i jump up a couple moose because I had no clue they were there. Always walk unless you just feel like running.
great news for me, but when im playing on my school laptop I dont got headphones :(
@@rileyvosper411 Take it from a 50 yo fart like me: use your school time well. You only get to do it once. Every shortcut you make now, you'll have to redo later in life. Learn as much as you can, about anything.
It's not about getting grades, it's about arming yourself with as much knowledge as possible against the world out there.
@@Viceroy_95 just happened to me , i was calling a roe and it ran right in my face and i didnt have my rifle out
Honestly I can't stop coming back to this game yet it's so annoying . I cannot find animals LOL .
Same

Sooooo true
@@WaterStalls nah you just bad at it.
@@WaterStalls you can shoot them basically anywhere other than the skull and they’ll bleed out, just follow their tracks after shooting them.
Tips for starting out:
1. Play for a few days
2. Buy 4-5 dlcs
The masters bundle was 16 bucks for the new year. Got every single dlc I think 😅
@@GAVN08 yes yes I know I figured it out. That was when I started playing again after like 2-3 years. Though my spending spree on even. more dlc’s havent stopped.
or just crack the dlc
smokeapi
Game with all dlc is only $12 right now so I got it and I'm figuring the game out
As a new player who took advantage of the sales of the season. I did get a few maps and some guns already. This was amazing for a basic introduction video. Thank you 👍
Same here. I got most of the map dlc, the tents, the bloodhound(stopped using immediately because it spooks everything, and some of the guns
New Player Tips:
1. Tents DLC - Lifechanging! I always have a tent in inventory. The ability to drop it down anywhere is so beneficial I think TENTS should have been in the base game. Drop a tent for store access to buy ammo, etc. Drop a tent to spawn an ATV to drive around. Drop a tent at a place you shot multiple-kills, so once you track your first kill just fast-travel back to that tent and follow the next blood trail. Drop a tent to easily access you favorite spots that don't have outposts nearby.... etc. etc. GET TENTS DLC! ---
1A (bonus tip) One tip about Tents or below Tree-stands: Buy just 1 version/color of any tent/tripod/treestand, in that way it will STACK. It doesn't matter that you have a stack of 50 "white" tents, if you take them from storage, that stack of 50 all go into inventory but still only weights the same as 1 tent. This saves time if you want to setup several tents in a row for a particular hunt, and I have never found a source that says as of 12/2022 that a tent or tripod's 'camo' pattern made any difference when hunting or spooking animals.
2. Tripods / Tree-Stands AND ATV. These 2 DLC are not as good as Tents, but they are very high 'quality of life' benefits. New players will absolutely love being able to DRIVE around the map to unlock areas. Also ATVs are wonderful when you shoot something on the other side of a body of water and have a 10 minute walk that becomes a 1 minute ride. Tripods/Tree-stands are wonderful for invisible hunting open areas with height to see all around you.. Also they reduce hunting pressure by 75% I think.. so hunt an area longer. Also great to use to mark areas like rabbit burrows that don't show on maps.
3. New players (especially if you have tripods) should go to Hertzfeld and find any of the big fields.. Put down a tripod and scatter 20 Canada Goose decoys around (I don't know if you get these free in the base game or with a DLC but I had them in my inventory already.. They are NOT in the Goose DLC as I don't have it). Have a Tier 1 weapon ( .22LR is great, especially the DLC 10 round in WP1). This will make the geese come to you and as a new player it is much easier to just kill things that come to you for a while... Easy way to get enough money / rifle skill for the Hyper x4-x8 rifle scope then you can switch to bigger animals. If you don't have a .22LR just use your .243 starter rifle and FREE soft-point ammo on the Geese.. you will take a money penalty but still make 500 bucks and 27 rifle skill each goose and the .243 will one-shot a goose pretty much any shot placement.
Once you get the ATV dlc, and you don’t have the tent DLC, can you drive back to your tent base with your ATV?
Stacking tents will change everything. lol Thanks.
Thanks for reminding me to get the tripods dlc while its still on sale, i just got the game
Picked up the game recently and racked up 100 hours already.
Same except I still haven't found this gosh darn deer 🤣
I havnet played yet
Rookie numbers
bro it’s mad addicting..i was playing god of war, bayonetta 3, mw2 everything on pause cuz i just been playing this 😭
@@Hollobaby1231same bro
I just started playing this game and I love it. It is such a cool down game after intense search and destroy raging 😂
Hope you make an updated beginner guide series. They are extremeely helpfull for newer folks like myself.
Just watch Flinters
Really sucks how much DLC there is, especially when the base game isn't free. One of my biggest pet peeves in gaming, especially when the content should be base-game. It's on sale now, but expensive normally. $28 just for weapons, $28 for content such as tents, tree stands, a bloodhound, and ATVs that should really be included for free, and a further $96 just for different areas.
Really appreciate the link to the need zones. Thank you and great video!
Game is awesome. Very peaceful and it's gonna be even better after hearing and reading these tips. Thank you guys.
Got the game for christmas, was excited but expecting to wait long to get my first kill, get my first kill an hour later, get another kill 30 minutes later, Deer im hunting runs away cause I get closer to get a better shot, pack of coyotes dissapears because I tried to be "patient" and follow them slowly, Class 4 deer hit by the starter rifle doesnt die despite bring hit in the lungs from about 50m away, same happens for another deer, So on, So forth.
"Patience" is an understatement
Same here.. like.. I was a minute away before quitting the game completely until I found a beginners guide. I thought I didnt need one but I absolutely did.
Amazing, I saved for the 8X42 Bino's and thought the game hated me because I still didn't get info after the upgrade. DUH. Turns out a guide really can fix stupid !! DUH !! Now if I ever learn how to switch ammo in the Grelck I'll be a happy hunter :)
Great guide, I've been thinking about getting a hunting game for awhile and decided to pick the daimond edition off the playstation store while it was on sale.
Thank you for tutorial it will be really useful
Thanks for the info ! super helpful
Hi from Sweden and Thanks for the video
Helpfull while still keeping some sense of discovery for the game. This definitely clicked the buy button for me, now i get to play it on the channel.
Awesome video! Keep up the amazing content!
I just started playing thx so much it helped alot
Great video thanks for making it.
The next time you make a vid like this can you describe how everything on the map works and what it means?
Awesome 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 BIG HELP
As a bow hunter I been wanting this game it is the most realistic hunting game using all hunting sense you use in real life unlike most games
great vid!
I love that the advice is basically "Git Gud" and considering I also really enjoy the Dark Souls games, which also require you to put in time and learn if you want to succeed and/or have fun... It makes sense why I initially got really aggravated by the game, only to start over and try again less impatiently. It's honestly surprising how similar of a mindset you need to have fun with this game and with the Souls games. Patience and using your brain are the key from what I can tell.
Oh, and it doesn't hurt to spend three times the value of the game on DLC content either.
Seemed kinda risky but glad you made it.
I just picked it up on ps. I legit have no clue on what I’m doing, but you learn as you go ig. 😅
My friend convinced me to get the game, best decision I've made
I stopped playing a year ago ish when my ps4 broke but picked the game up on pc I went to play and I was lost game just keeps getting better
Awesome sale right now. Got the diamond bundle for 18 USD. Most of the time, it's 80+ USD.
If you struggled like me at the beginning in Horschfelden map: thats because its one of the hardest maps in the game while you have next to no perk points. Other maps are much less brushy with more open fields
Hi, I just started playing this game couple days ago , Thnks for the info.. I’ll keep watching videos,, keep up the good work..
I'm not new but still helpful
yes
What are the best open places to hunt? Where there are the most animals.
As someone who plays hunting simulator two I feel there are a lot more animals animals in Hunter Call Of The Wild, In hunting simulator two you never just see animals, I will go 30 minutes and not see crap, but in this game it’s different, I can’t tell what one I like better, I think it just depends on my mood.
I haven't even played this game yet yet and I know it is good
thank you risky for the tips
My pleasure, thank you for watching :)
got this game last week, and loving it, but defo need help haha
look up the need zone spread sheets and hot spot maps. updated ones are in the youtubers discord
@@UnhingedCanadian will do thank you :)
Same! I feel like the reserves are barren when I set foot in there 🤣
I'll see a buck every now and again, but mainly doe. Same with moose and elk. I managed to down my first bull moose just a few minutes ago. I've seen maybe 200 moose, and only like 10 if them bulls. I don't have the caller yet so I get to crawling when I hear moose 🤣
the autorun key is good
30-06 for me its the one i use irl!
I have a couple of questions... my biggest one is how do you run😂... when I guess my follow-up question to that is on PC where can I find a charter something that tells you all the different things you can press on your keyboard to make it do certain things like open your backfire gun run etc etc etc😅... I'm old, and honestly haven't gained in like 10 to 12 years other than trying WoW out a few months ago to see if it was worth getting back into... So any help is greatly appreciated 😎✌️
you run with just shift, personally best is crouching and running it goes pretty ok with minimum noise. pretty sure just click esc and key bindings or settings and key bindings
Just bought the base game for like $8 on PlayStation Store. Big W. I already had the ATV in the garage so, I guess some things that were DLC only aren't anymore.
Hi Risky - great vids. What I'd like to know is what qualities should we look for when scoping out a herd of animals? Males, large racks etc. Does the difficulty rating have any correlation to them being a diamond or not? eg I've discovered several "Mythical" difficulty level Cape buffalo that just turned out to be Gold. Is there a chart we can print out and use to gauge the weight class of certain specimens?
So, animals like Cape Buffalo max out at level 9, or Legendary. Some animals like Whitetail Deer max out at level 3, but Blacktail deer max out at level 5. Some animals have ‘fabled’ variants which are level 10, no matter their normal max level. I recommend doing your own research or just google the max level of an animal when you see it, good luck friend.
I always look for and rare’s “ fur types” then go I go by size estimate for example a white tail could be 187-247. I would get the “ CoTW guid” it’s a app that tells you everything about the animals and what animals are on what maps, that app saves me tons of time on google to see max scores
Do you have a video that explains the basic controls in the game like how to load your weapons and things like that. If so, would you post a link?
Can you make a video how to equip bundles
Love the video
Just got this with the New England dlc and the bloodhound. Looking forward to it. Hunter power pack dlc is it worth buying?
Can you help me? Since the update in late 2022, finding packs of animals seams impossible. Do you hunt on story mode or is the more on Multiplayer?
When i scare off group of animals by for example missing oneshot kill, should I try still following them or find something else to hunt?
I struggle to find any animals even in open areas
Went looking for a beginners guide and stumbled across this video. Good video except for one thing. This was an overgeneralized non-beginner video. You mentioned a number of things which are unattainable at the beginning of the game because you don’t have any money and you don’t go over the basics of the game and how to actually hunt and track and that seems to be like one of the most basic things you would probably want to cover. Give you an A for quality of video but an F, for content based upon description.
Making money = hunting geese + if you have a friend you can do some easy challenges in multi player?
Does the mississippi reserve have points of interest and artifacts or did the developer's didn't add them in it cuz I've tried looking them up but I don't get no results and I have the poi icon on (and I'm on the series x for anyone wondering) and my recommendation for hunting animals just go in random directions until you either see or hear an animal (unless you're doing a mission then change the time of day/night for the rest/feed/drink zones) anyways that's all I wanted to say so bye.
I tried this game some time ago and hated it.
But now that I see this and understand the kinda... Way to start so to speak, I'ma give it a try again
Is there really any point to binoculars that see a great distance? I find that if I do spy any far away with my regular ones, they disappear while I'm looking at them anyway. The game seems to have a really crappy draw distance.
About the third animal I killed was a mythical deer. lol
Ok so i do you have a question I know the trophy area in the Taxidermy thing but what I don't understand is the save harvest section are you able to taxidermy those animals because I can't figure out how if you can I really new help
Kinda just started. Honestly have no idea what I’m doing .3. Found some dead and as they tried running I shot one of them twice in the ass. Dude didn’t care. Then I got attacked by something while looking at my map but I turned around to look for it and there was nothing there. So I’m kinda confused now
I have >200 hours on the game, but it didn’t transfer my data from ps4 to ps5 so I’m back at the beginning lol
Thus is great and all but, how do you play the game?
Hello great guide! I just have a question on why my character when aiming down sights breaths so much to where it is very hard to shoot the animal, it is very challenging and I would like to know how to fix it.
You’re out of breath it’s probably because you just got done sprinting so it takes some time to gain it back and it’s the little heart by your ammo
I haven't played for a while but I'm just never sure what perks to get first and or which are the best to have
Wait so about how far do i need to be away from a feeding ground for the animals not to hear my atv
"MOOSE" gos full auto dumps a whole mag lol
New hunter game just recently announced by Nine rocks games called Way of the Hunter... you should watch it and post a video about your thoughts!
Thank you for your video!
I just start playing and the game is awesome but sadly enough crashes a lot. When i finally made my 3rd kill the game crashed. Is there a way to fix that? Like delete and download it again? I play on PS5.
I love this game its relaxing, I hid myself that well hunting a moose it walk past me. I shot it that wasn't a good idea stomped on me near killed me. shot it again then had to track the blood and found it dead great at night all the noises of the wildlife 👍
I lost my save and me and my friend start playing again but we dont know how to play anymore 😂
What gun doesn’t need to reload after a shot so you can shoot like many shots while you’re scoping
I believe all rifles need to reload since almost all of the rifles are bolt action rifles but later you get the ability to reload while scoped/zoomed in which gives you a chance to not loose the animals out of the sights while reloading and then you can take another shot or two
I might be dumb, but I can’t find an option for hunter sense anywhere. Help?
what is the best weapon from the hunter power pack/ weapon pack 8/ rifle pack???
Hi Risky, I just got the Hunter and I'm lovin' it, but please can you tell me how I get the blue glow when I'm spotting animals. Yes I know it's a noob question. Thanks in advance. PS. Your video's are brilliant and a real help.
you can change the color of the spotted animals in the Settings menu. You can spot an animal with your binoculars or later on with your scope rifle.
@@jordiscu Thanks, I'll have a look.
@@jordiscu spotting is buggy as fuck. Didn't work for me at all after the tutorial
I got jumped by some wolfs today
Not sure why people find it difficult to find animals, I'm finding plenty, just gotta be careful of warning calls, once you hear one, go 1 step down in your mode, like if you are running and you hear a warning call, go crouch and follow the call, if you hear one on crouch mode, go prone. Never run unless you already shot one down and you are sure it was a good hit, run to follow the blood trail if you want. One more thing, zeroing skill, well people recommend it, but in heat of moment I end up misusing it and missing my shots, I wish I never picked the perk, its much easier to hunt without it (at least for me).
btw I only have 30 hours or something in game, so take it with grain of salt but these tips been fruitful to me.
I’m a beginner right now. How can I easily get money so I can get a better gun. I’m finding the game pretty difficult right now 😅
I just bought a Dlc but where is the locker on the layton lake?
How do I deal with being less loud? I mean, I always see the animals “warning call” and they run from me, even if im crouching, its so annoying
Im also a beginner but you can crawl with y and fast crawl with y+Shift i do this when the range isn‘t that far
I feel like people still don’t understand it’s a hunting simulator it’s not meant to spawn animals every 20 feet…you have to hunt. That means waiting using lures and staying low and silent
old save is lvl23 from years ago. should i restart fresh and take better perk?
I'm still confused on how to edit the loudout
I got this game a long time ago and didn’t like it because when I got within range of an animal and shot it in the side it wouldn’t die and if it did I would never find the body
Best gun for long range shot in the game ? Most power and acurate? For big animal
7MM Express Magnum is perfect for long range and short range. It is very strong. The level is 4-9 (Deer through Bison)
what do you think are the most valuable skills to unlock and what is the progression?
Rifle, zeroing.
Skills go a specific path i believe and you can't unlock whatever you want, the others are looked until you unlock the previous ones
Are missions necessary?
How do I know what’s a good weapon or a scope?
Is there a way to go faster? Even when I run it feels slusich
Do I need to sight the rifle in first?
Yo i just got the game!❤😂🦊🦌
Hi
What gun is the one you recommend in weapons pack 2 I can’t find the mozen anywhere
As far as DLC go, in saving money: I got this game for just over $50 on the summer sale. DO NOT pay over $100 over time... be patient please
It's 8 bucks now
What does the purple circles mean
I just bought it and I cant see any of the images in the codex or other tutorial drop down menus. Any help? Its just a green blob
Do you have too buy a scope for a 7mm
Hunting itself isn’t hard but holy hell are the interface and controls complicated.
sup bro🎉
How do you make it day
what do i do when i can not pick up anymore animals . it seys my shit is full or smth like that
