    Big Bear Overland Part 1 - 4Runner Limited Nightshade [rooftop tent camping, off-road, adventure] | KimChuTV S2E2
    Here is Part 2! • Big Bear Overland Part...
    Trying to do an overland trip in the summer can be difficult in the summer because of the heat but luckily there is Big Bear where temperatures are a bit cooler than most places in SoCal. We explored some trails south of Big Bear lake and the views were breathtaking. Hope you enjoy this rooftop tent camping/overland semi-ASMR video!
    Watch Part 2 to see more of the Rooftop Tent and more breathtaking views.

    Would you mind posting the trail/route you took in Big Bear? As some places are much more difficult or can damage peoples vehicles. This route seems very mild and beautiful.

    Great videos. I've got a 2021 4runner Limited and I am enjoying taking it out off the road a bit. Did you leave your X-REAS intact still? Did you do a lift with it installed?

      Yes, it's still pretty much stock. Haven't gotten a lift yet but thinking of getting either Icons or Dobinsons.

    what size of rims and tires do you have on the nightshade? do you have to modify the suspension or is stock?i am looking to upgrade to bigger tires on mine.

    • @KimChuTV
      @KimChuTV  2 года назад

      Rims are 17in TRDs and the tires are falken wildpeaks all terrain 265/70/17. No need to lift however some rubbing on the front plastic fender on my stock 4runner limited when I'm on full-lock (full turn) but not a problem for me. If you do a 1 or 2in lift, no rubbing.

  • @theluminary5324
    @theluminary5324 2 года назад

    Didn't think you could put all terrain tires on a Limited model. Did you lift it? What size and brand are those?

    • @KimChuTV
      @KimChuTV  2 года назад +1

      If you have the stock 20 in rims, you can still get some 32in all terrains but your options are limited and more expensive. So I decided to change my rims to the 17in trd rims. And I put on falken wildpeaks all terrain tires, 32in, 265/70/17 size. I haven't lifted my limited, it is stock height right now so the tires do rub on the front plastic fenders on a full-lock (full turn) but it doesn't do any damage.

    Are you thinking of doing a TRD bumper conversion or leaving it like it is for the clearance?

    • @KimChuTV
      @KimChuTV  2 года назад

      I'll probably do it down the road but I kind of like the Limited look and the black chrome accents. Definitely need a lift though! Most likely getting a lift first and see how things go.

    • @KimChuTV
      @KimChuTV  2 года назад

      Do you have a Limited too?

    • @JayL1221
      @JayL1221 2 года назад +1

      Have a 2000 limited but I'm in the market for a newer 4runner I'm between an SR5 or Premium but I'm leaning towards the limited for the 3rd row seating and better interior.

      Yeah! I chose the Limited because I really wanted leather seats 😅 those are great options though.

    Did you get any lift or leveling on the limited done?

    • @KimChuTV
      @KimChuTV  2 года назад +1

      No I haven't! Just changed the wheels to 17in and put 32in all terrains. But I am planning to upgrade the suspension to not damage my bumpers further. Let me know if you have any recommendations for suspension lift kits.

    What size are your tires, and what did you air down to?

    • @KimChuTV
      @KimChuTV  3 года назад

      Tires are 265/70/R17 and aired down to 25 psi. I usually like airing down to 20 for a softer ride but I wanted to have a bit more ground clearance for this trip.

      Currently have Dobinsons MRR 3-Way suspension kit with 2.5-3 in of lift, 17in TRD wheels with Falken Wildpeaks AT, and the prinsu rack. That's pretty much it.

    Not a RTT it's a Top Heavy Tent, not good for offroad

    • @KimChuTV

      You're right. Need to be more cautious when offroading. And we ended up upgrading suspension kit as well to withstand the 150lbs added weight.
