    That 3rd gen styling is still undefeated. I had a 99 limited that I sold about 10 years ago and missed it ever since. I just picked up a 99 SR5 for 900 bucks. The frame was rusted so it wouldn’t pass inspection but luckily I knew I guy that fixed it for a few cases of beer. It’s got some bumps and bruises that I’ve been working on fixing but nothing too bad. Nothing beats the feeling of cruising around in these resilient little off-road machines!

    Last year we did an overland cross province tour from Vancouver, all the way North to Dawson in the Yukon, and back, in my 2019 4Runner TRD Off Road. I have also driven it from Vancouver to Halifax and back and it has never broken down on me, even once! It just keeps on driving lol. 4Runners are second only to the legendary Land Cruiser!
    My 4Runner has seen those trails many times lol

    Love seeing the 3rd Gen and 5th Gen, both great looking rides (and all of those Toyotas at the end of that trail!). I totally agree with your comment re: the smaller size of the 3rd Gen - there are times when it is just a little easier to get through some tight spaces on trails. Beautiful scenery, as always.

      Same feeling here. I owned my supercharged 99 4Runner for over 18 years and just can't see myself getting rid of it. Plenty of utility, easy to work on, relatively economical compare to my 200 series, and easy to drive on all trails. Every button, dial, 4WD, locker, heater, A/C, and window switches all still work to this day on original component. While I do enjoy the 200 series, I have to really watch the width and the weight on certain trails. It is 2000# heavier than the 3rd gen 4Runner empty... That said, my 3rd gen 4Runner is still my go to daily driver and off-road vehicle. My 200 series is more of a family overlander/remote camper.

    Besides the advantages of the smaller size on the 3rd gen did you see any others big difference in ability (that could be attributed to the generations)?

    • @Beacon_Offroad
      @Beacon_Offroad  2 года назад +1

      Weight would probably be another. Cost way less being older of course. 5th gens are pretty sweet, so it hard to say it's better. Just different that's all. Hard to go wrong.

    Im stuck between buying 3rd gen or 4 th gen.with V8... I really want 4th gen but my budget is for 3rd gen :D Is it worth to wait more and save for 4th gen or buy 3rd? What do you think guys? I want it for overlanding most of the time and sometimes not too hard offroad.

    • @Beacon_Offroad
      @Beacon_Offroad  Год назад

      That v8 really isn't much of a v8.not really a lot more power than a 3.4L. 4th gens in general are a bit less sought-after so probably get a better price. 4th is slightly larger also if that matters. For me it's a 3rd or 5th gen if the budget is there..

    • @Beacon_Offroad
