  • Idyllwild Black Mountain Road Camping - 4Runner Limited, Camping with a Husky, KimChuTV S2E9
This weekend we went to Idyllwild, a mountain resort in SoCal, known for its' numerous hiking trails, bouldering, rock climbing, and snow. We like to call it mini Big Bear, since it isn't as crowded but still as nice. We usually go here when we want to go camping and off-roading at high elevation with pine trees but not drive very far to Big Bear. In this episode, we ended up camping at a first-come first-serve campground by the Black Mountain Road trail. I hope you enjoy this episode! Don't forget to like and subscribe!

    Hi,
Do you have any videos on gear? What do you use to air up and down?
What kind of jack set up do you keep!
Other tools for changing tires and what not?

Where you were camped if you take a hike in the woods you might find a waterfall very small waterfall and the water comes down in the Mist. I found it by accident just walking around in the woods up there. And only at certain times maybe a few days after a rain.

Oh wow! Didn't know that. We shall check it out next time we camp there. Is there a name for the waterfall? And certain trail it's on?

Sweet trip in an awesome ride! My wife and I travel in our 2021 Nightshade 4Runner and I noticed we were about the only ones off roading in a limited model. Mine still has 20” rims, but we went everywhere. (7,900mile trip) About to set off on another trip next Thursday. We have a German shepherd with us! Keep on camping!

      Thank you!
Yes, most usually get TRD Offroads or SR5 4wd for off-roading. It's cool to know there are other Limiteds, specifically Nightshades off-roading out there! Keep safe in your travels!

Did I see this vehicle in Middle Tennessee semi recently? I remember seeing a 4Runner Limited that had a distinct wrap on it that favored this one.

I’ve got so many questions! I have a TRD Sport and I’m curious on your thoughts of the suspension in the Limited (that and the tires are both shared by our trim packages).
Great looking rig man, and Murphy is such a lucky dog with that cot!

Also, your stove is awesome too! Nice wide burner. What’s the model???

    • @KimChuTV

The suspension on my limited is stiffer than the TRD off-roads, but it handles a bit better on road. However if you air down, it'll help getting a smoother ride but still on the stiffer side. The clearance on the Limiteds are also the lowest out of all the 4runner trims at 9in, whereas the TRD Off-road is at 9.6in. Not sure about the TRD sport though.
I did change my wheels and tires to 17 in with 32s from the 20in rims it came with stock.
However, a little secret, I recently upgraded my suspension 🤫 video on it coming soon!
Might actually do a walkaround vid as well 😃

It's actually just a $15 Amazon backpacking stove that I got 2 years ago! Tried looking for the link, but unfortunately, the seller doesn't have them anymore. I'm sure there are other small backpacking burners on Amazon though.
