I was at that Braves game where Elly hit the cycle. That's as close to a playoff atmosphere as you can have for a game played in June. Best game I've ever attended and I went to plenty of games in 2012 when they won 97 games.

They probably just need a solid innings eater at the back end of the rotation. With their young starters coming back from injury, they're going to be better.
They're very young, but this team seems to have the "IT" factor. If they can take the division and keep up this level of play, then they have a shot to beat anybody. They did lose to the Braves in that series, but each game was decided by a single run, and were extremely competitive. They've shown that they can hang with the big boys.

I'm a Rangers fan, and I felt awful when they got swept by the Reds in Cincinnati back in April, especially since they blew massive leads in two of the games. The Reds were in last place when the series started, and given how Cincinnati lost 100 games last year it seemed like an embarrassment for a team that was supposed to be up and coming contenders. However, perhaps that series was a harbinger of the Reds' success.

the thing that has ALREADY made ely one of my favorite reds ever is how hard he works to get on base. he doesn't see he made bad contact and jog towards first as the ball goes directly to an infielder like SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE DO. he runs as hard as humanly possible to try and get on base anyway. it's sort of rare to see this kind of thing and i love it so much. give me watching ely leg out an infield single over watching a home run any day. it's so much more exciting. he plays hard every play. he plays smart when he's on the bases.

It really did feel lucky we took 2/3 in Cincy, especially since they've only lost 1 other series since my Bravos came to town. The main reason we survived despite throwing out a bunch of rookies in the 3 starts we had there is because while the Reds lineup has been exceptional, they ran into the 1 lineup that is better than theirs.
And even then, the entire series was decided by 1 run and a clutch game-ending double play with the tying run on 3rd in the rubber match. Yeah, that series gave me gray hairs.
Refreshing to see a new face atop the Central, though.

      @DonRavioli92 11 месяцев назад +1

I don't know man just because the O's fell off last year doesn't mean this red's team will. Keep in mind this winning streak happened with two of the Reds best young pictures out due to injury. Nick Lodolo is going to come back in August. Yeah his ERA looks a bit rough right now, but that is really due to just 2 poor starts. He was a good pitcher last year at a 3.68 era and other than those 2 bad starts he looked like he was going to replicate that level of play.
Hunter Greene will be back around that time too. He's hovering around a 4.0 era but once again before he was injured he was looking like he was getting back in the groove too.
If they can just remain competitive until those two come back that should be good enough to bolster the rotation to the point where it's at least solid to good rotation.
Then if they can trade for a single solid Innings eater, then they could be even BETTER come September.

This is the year! The Reds have proven that can beat, and sweep the best teams in baseball, including the reigning world series champs.
If we can hold things together and not let the Brewers pull too far away then i think the Reds can go ask the way. Why not? I mean they are breaking records every game. I feel. I've been a Reds fan forever and I'm telling you, this is the first of many years going deep into the playoffs, if not taking it all.

We reds have been threw over a decade of pain so yeah crowds were down it's hard to watch your favourite team lose 100 games we knew they would be goodayne next year no one thought this would happen life is good in Cincy sports for first time in like 30 years.

If the reds broke baseball with a 12 game winning streak….. I can’t imagine what the 2017 Cleveland Indians did. 22 games in a row.

The Karcher game was the moment I fully bought into this team. That was the most improbable win lol.

De La Cruz is the answer to the question of what if you gave a player Ichiro’s speed, David Ortiz’s power, and Yoenis Céspedes’ cannon arm

I agree with the majority of your analysis; nevertheless, the potential of their " jelling " together with the possible fresh new starting pitcher or two would be difficult to overcome.

That O’s standing comparison isn’t really fair to the O’s and kinda makes the reds look better than they are. Theres only a 4 game difference between them at the all star break the O’s were just in a STACKED division, i mean the reds would barely be 3rd if you swapped them and the O’s would be second. They are in the exact same boat, the NL Central just sucks

People need to realize it wasn’t just the 12 game winning streak that put us in the position we are now. They won 5 in a row right before that & just had another 5 game winning streak afterwards.

My Dad's a Reds fan and I'm a Cubs fan, I love seeing the Reds do good for him even more than my Cubbies playing well. But the Cubs are the only team in the division with a positive run differential. They should be in it but they're not.
