- In 2023, Elly De La Cruz took the baseball world by storm with an over .300 batting average and 16 stolen bases in his first 30 games. But down the stretch he fizzled out with 108 strikeouts in his final 60 games. A few offseason adjustments later and he has come out of the gate firing on all cylinders in 2024. Putting him on pace to do something no player has every come close to in MLB history... He's just 22 years old....

Contact on pitches outside the zone improved? It went down. That’s not improvement. He got worse. Going from 60% to 53% is not an improvement when it comes to contact. You want the number to be higher.
He said ball hit out of the zone results in soft hit ground balls for easy outs. In the case less contact on those pitches is better
