What most people don’t talk about was his on base abilities. Dude was elite with a .400+ OBP. He was always on base. That’s a huge component in why he stole so many bases and is the MLB leader in runs scored. Also probably why Babe Ruth had so many runs scored as well.

My childhood hero ... He was the best ! All time steals , all time runs leader meaning he touched home plate more than any one else who played the game. His 1st love was football and wanted to be a runningback for the Raiders but his momma said no football is too dangerous , I think he chose the right sport . He is top 10 in my book RIP Rickey !

I saw him playing Against the Yankees in 1983. Maybe he was playing for the Yankees this time? I was a kid. My grandfather told me he was going to Hall of Famer. He was right! Yankees vs Angels.
