2 stars? My uncle worked at the inn of ill Omen, he tries his best for your pleasure. She arrived withouth booking, and he had to find a room for her, he couldn't let her sleep on the woods it was too dark and it was raining, he was concerned that something happened to her. My uncle is a nice guy he is just a bit clumsy, he droped a bit of mead on the floor, it could happen to anyone. He went every day at exact 08:00 am to get wood to light the fire, you know how hard is to be diligent as he is to went there every day at 08:00 without having a clock? No joke, your video reminded me of doing the exact same thing in TES4 back in my high school days! Just roleplayed as an up and coming merchant or rich noble, excited to see the province, and staying at every inn and establishment I could find. I even kept a small real life notebook to write roleplay journal entries in!
And I guess the aspect of these big cities is what I missed the most in Oblivion. I love how run down, cozy, and high class the spectrum of accommodations in Cyrodill were. Each establishment was a vibe, even the ramshackle roadside inns, which still retained their own personality even if they shared the same interior, basically.
Thanks again for this video of yours. Im suddenly itching to visit Anvil again and see if I can spend a few nights in their lovely inn as I make some trade deals within the city...

Girl, this was hilarious! I was so convinced Ill Omen was going to be the worst, but then you arrived in Hackdirt, which I avoid like the plague. I thought the cherry on top would be waking up on the high seas after renting the Bloated Float. Any room that wakes you up with a sidequest is a 10/10 for me, especially one involving pirates.
Also, don't disrespect the Merchant's Inn! I may own every piece of available real estate in-game, but that's where it's at for me: Up the stairs, first door on the left. Rented it so much I think I broke the Innkeeper's dialogue, because every time I tried paying for the room I already had it. Great video.

My version of the reviews of each establishment in Cyrodiil.
-Inn of Ill Omen has very friendly workers and they serve you without any problem, in fact the bartender smiles at you when you enter. The room you rent, unfortunately, does not measure up. The room is dark, it is full of humidity, there is only one sleeping bag and you cannot store your belongings. In addition, the candle that was supposed to illuminate is not lit, which denotes a lack of income in the establishment. Luckily, during your stay, you can enjoy a cozy and close atmosphere. I don't know why people complain, it seems to me that it delivers because it has a more than excellent price ratio. 2.5 stars.
-The Gray Mare denotes upon arrival a feeling of tranquility because you see straw, which means that horses are probably passing by. And if you like horses it's a plus. When you enter, you are greeted by a woman who when you talk to her, you can tell that she is a woman dedicated to her work, and that she sleeps behind the bar. As soon as you go up, you can see that the room is slightly better than the room at the Inn of Ill Omen, it has a chest and a sack. This gives Gray Mare half a point more than the previous establishment, 3 stars
-Roxey Inn is located in a very beautiful place, with a bench next to the entrance door, which means you can rest, sit and breathe fresh air. As soon as you enter you can see that it is full of paintings and you can also see that it is full of guests, which means that it is a busy place. The room at the Roxey Inn is exactly the same style as The Gray Mare and the Inn of Ill Omen, but you can see that it has a carpet, so you won't feel so cold if you go barefoot. You can also see that it has a candle, which is nice, and a couple of paintings. In fact, the bag is turned upside down so that when you wake up, you do so looking at that wonderful painting. The only bad thing is that the room has a slightly low ceiling, so if you are a tall person you will have to crouch down. The establishment's staff is friendly and does their job, and you can interact with the rest of the guests. For me, the Roxey Inn is a 3.5 star property.
-Moslin's Inn appears from the outside to be a somewhat attractive place, the establishment being built of stone. When you enter, the owner of the place is cold and distant, in addition to being disabled, since you can see that he is sitting on top of the bar counter without legs or hands. What should be noted is that if you ask him the price of the room, he will tell you an exorbitant price. 30 septims. The room is good, meets the standards and does it very well. The room is spacious and high, it has a table where you can eat, it has a double bed that is ideal for couples, and it has natural light. For me, Moslin's Inn would be a good establishment if it had better staff. 2.5 stars.
-The Drunken Dragon Inn is located in the countryside and you can see that it is a very well-kept place, perfect for releasing the accumulated stress of living in the Imperial City. Upon entering, you can see that the owner is not very friendly, in fact he insults you. The notable thing is that the price of the room is 20 septims, which is very good. When you go up to the room, you can see that, for the price the room has, it meets the standards and in fact exceeds them. It has a desk where you can write, it has natural light and the bed is very well maintained. Quite correct for the price it has. If it weren't for the owner who insults you when you enter the establishment, it would have a higher score. 3 stars.
-Aleswell Inn is situated on top of a hill, with stunning views towards the Imperial City. When you enter you can see that the establishment has no staff, in fact it is an abandoned place, spooky even. N/a stars.
-The West Weald Inn, located in Skingrad, is perfect for a night in the city. In fact, on the outside it has a very typical architecture of the place. When you walk inside, you can see that the place is spacious and decorated. It has a decent staff. The room costs 20 septims and when you go in, you can see that the light invades the room. You can also see that there is a closet to store clothes, a good double bed with new and clean sheets, a chair and a very nice painting. Very worth it to stay in there. 4 stars.
-The Count's Arms, in Anvil, denotes style as soon as you see it from the outside. The interior is nothing different. The place is large, spacious and ornate, with a beautiful floor. The ruler of the place is called Wilbur and he is very famous for having good taste in wine. The room costs 25 septims, which is very cheap for such quality and care of the room. The room is very well lit, with both natural lights and also candlelight. The double bed you sleep in is elevated off the ground, so you won't be cold at night. In addition, you will have food served on the table. For all these reasons, this establishment will have a score of 4.5 stars.
-The Merchants Inn is located in the heart of the Empire, in the Imperial City. The establishment has Ayleid architecture, which makes it very attractive. When you walk in you can see that it is an extremely busy place, so there will most likely be a lot of noise when you are trying to sleep. The owner apparently never sleeps, so if you have a problem he will always be available. The room costs 20 septims and you can see that when you go up, a feeling of disbelief invades you with such a history that the Imperial City has. It has a very nice decoration, with several paintings and also has a bed with relatively clean sheets. The only bad thing about the room is that it has a lot of mold, but if you don't mind that, it's perfect if you want a humble stay in the Imperial City. 4 stars.
-The Bloated Float is a boat transformed into an establishment. It is located on the docks of the Imperial City. When you enter you can see that the place is somewhat depressing, in fact it is empty, with only the owner of the place. When renting the room, the owner will ask you for 10 septims, which is honestly very good. The room is very humble and has the essentials to enjoy a good stay. Plus it has a bed, which is a plus. The only notable thing is that the boat occasionally leaves for Akavir, so you will have to get off earlier. For everything else, 3.75 stars.
Thanks for reading my reviews. Good day

Faregyl Inn also is so close to the Inn of Ill Omen that I tend to sleep there when near that part of the map over Inn of Ill Omen. Also Jumbo Potatoes at Faregyl Inn. Which was actually not too bad, for the novelty alone. The accomodations in most towns were really hit-and-miss. Sometimes you got a really nice place, terracotta tiles, fancy rugs, amazing woodwork and some genuine traditional Dunmer art... then you found out the whole place was a front for the local mob. Maybe you came across something that looked like nothing more than a hole in a giant mushroom, and it was your best stay ever, with the proprietor also offering some stretching classes. You never know. I _would_ recommend checking it out, if the locals weren't so damn racist all the time.

Man I love the Inns in both Oblivion and Skyrim. I always stay in them and do roleplay even though its completely useless in the game, I love sleeping in these Inns whenever I arrive in a city.

Lol great video. The only thing that makes me sad about it was at 2:30, explaining how bad renting in Ireland is. I live across the ocean in Canada, & it is not any better here. Makes me sad to hear that everyone is struggling so much 😢

Good one! Enjoyed this video quite a lot more than I thought I would. Would like to get a similar one for tye inns of Skyrim. You could also rate the bards (can't remember if every inn has one or if they travel between them, though) and maybe an assortment of goods available for sale (if that even differs between the inns). Got to admit, I don't seem to remember much about Skyrim despite it being one of my few favourite games ever. In my defence, haven't had a chance to play it for many years now and only did 2 (more like 1,5) runs without ever completing the story or all of the side quests either.

The most interesting inn was the one where I walked in (can't remember the name, it was a long time ago), an orc and argonian were drinking at the bar, minding their own business. Next thing I knew, the orc walked up to the argonian and threw a punch at him.
The argonian hit back, and next thing I knew a guard and a few civilians walked in and joined in the brawl. But in the ensuing chaos, everyone hit someone else because they got in the way of their fists. By the end of the brawl, several civilians were unconscious on the floor and the argonian fled out the door with the orc in pursuit.
The guard also ran out after them, presumably to go for the poor argonian who probably hit the guard while trying to land one on the orc earlier. 😂

I love your content so much! I'm the type of person who always pay attention to the most small things and the type to read all the meaningless dialogue in every MMO. I especially love walking around various towns and cities in Elder Scrolls games, imagining what it would be like to live there myself. Your videos scratch that itch perfectly!

Thanks to the bard mod I've spent plenty of time at all the inns in Skyrim. The worst is in Dawnstar's because that bard they got is tone deaf and makes the orc in Morthal sound angelic. The best is the Bee And Barb in Riften hands down.

1:39 Sure! I'm playing Morrowind again these days, and I do 90% of all my sleeping just standing around in the wilderness or in the sewers of Vivec. So an actual bedroll is an improvement.
Though this play through I play as a Dunmer battle mage (or whatever the class is called) who is a fairly conservative Mer, so I joined the Temple and The Great House Redoran; so I now also do quite a lot of my sleeping in a shared bed at a temple after an Almsivi Intervention or lately in my brand new stronghold after a Recall straight to my bedroom.

Last time I stayed at The Bloated Float, someone stole the hotel and I had to fight the thieves myself to get the hotel back to the Imperial City. I got a measly 75 gold for SAVING THEIR HOTEL and risking my life. I figured I would use the reward money to extend my trip with a 3 day excursion to the Moslin's Inn in Hackdirt, get out to the countryside for a little bit. It figures that the hotel owner that didn't hire security would be too cheap to pay a livable wage, so I didn't get to go to Hackdirt after all.
