Cocoa shimmer is for sure the perfect match for your Benu Earl Grey pen! I, too, don’t go out of my way to only match inks and pens…but it is, undoubtably, sooo satisfying when you do happen to have the perfect match. ❤

blooms and brews is SUCH a cute name for the theme and it's really similar to the theme I went with for May, too (I'm just missing the orange hahah)! Cocoa shimmer could even be like...a black tea with honey in it :D
Cocoa Shimmer looks like a winner! Added to my wishlist! I recently got a Monteverde Regatta with the omniflex nib and it requires a bit of pressure to write and had bad flow. I got a Monteverde replacement nib in broad and I'm really happy with it!

I just discovered cocoa shimmer - I got it as a sample from goulet pens - really didn’t like it when I swatched it - thought it was a weird reddish brown - but I liked the name 😜 so decided to put it in my Lamy cream color medium nib pen and it is so wonderful for writing and has such a beautiful metallic sheen to it after it dries So… lesson learned - swatches of an ink are really not representative of how an ink will perform and appear when used in a pen
So true!! I have found some inks to be really great in swatches and when writing they look totally different. Especially with smaller nib sizes, inks will look entirely different!
I hear flex nibs need to hit the paper differently, it's hard to articulate it, it was in the discord penposium a few weeks ago I think. Something about matching parallel to the writing line. The end detail is the... tines? of flex must touch simultaneously and evenly, the way most fountain pens work you technically sort of lean harder on one. Maybe try pretending it's a stub nib and see if it's better for you. I prefer the omniflex nibs and my stub nib writing is slightly opposite most people's for the same reason: I have an approximate 30° bone curvature difference in my wrists. Omniflex and freakin' EF shark pens work GREAT for me. I would love to go to a pen show one day and be able to try because at my budget/trouble-odds I can't invest above omniflex $ range in anything I haven't tried out. I suspect it's the shark's hooded EF nibs handling my angle better and so I want to try a vanishing point!

Any chance you can show us BPC Magnolia Mirage beside Wearingeul's Jane Eyre? Mostly because that's a coordinating color I think you've said you have/like. Usually I use the compare feature but BPC is it's own site and I'm especially interested in MM after seeing you swatch it a few times.
I wish I could send you a photo! The Jane Eyre is a light purple with almost black shading in some places, and the BPC Magnolia Mirage is more of a baby pink with orange shading and purple haloing. They would be a great pair for a pastel pinks and purples!

I already have a bottle of JE, I love it, but I'm thinking I should try it in a bigger wetter nib so I can see this near black you speak of. I find it manages to be both subtle AND bold. 💜 I'm always questing for ink color combos for art and your MM swatches so tempt me, but I'm now thinking of getting the inks to mix it, because I imagine then I'd definitely have a trio of colors. I love they share recipes. I didn't know about them before your vids, thank you.

Kyanite is a gorgeous blue black!! I was able to "mix" my own with the Atominks to see it and I really liked it.
I've had a similar experience with the FWP pens, cracking plastic! :( I LOVE the Sea Glass pen, been thinking of getting one.

Magnolia Mirage is a lovely pink! But it is PINK haha. I would be tempted to mix it with a red to see what happens to the shading.
