I’ve been sharing my journey of music production with other people and the hardest part is not having a free sampler to recommend to users who don’t know if they want to pour money into music yet. This is absolutely a gem thank you so much for this!
I’ve seen many clown you online for your style in previous videos. Some would say, if you don’t like something, make your own. They are very quiet right now. Well done sir. ❤
YT is full of posers who actually do NOTHING but have an opinion, and complain..I want them all to grow up and STFU,wasting people's time..Of course they are quiet now, because they never were going to actually produce anything,,
Update: AASamplePlayer now already support for * iCloud files (no need to buy new devices just for storage "upgrade") * End point control * Loop * Super smooth pitch changing Mac & PC (free) playpm.gumroad.com/l/AASamplePlayer For iOS version, I also added sample batch load feature so you don't need to look back to the folder again, and now it's $2.99, free to upgrade if you already own it. iOS ($2.99) apps.apple.com/cn/app/aasampleplayer/id6443626189?l=en
Really cool sampler & concept 💪🏼 Totally worth spending a dollar or two! What do you think about a slicing option like in octatrack? Seems also like a simple but great implementation :)
You are 1000% right about not being able to control where to install plugins on the PC! The beauty and simplicity if a single vst3 is awesome. Also not duplicating your sample files is so nice. Adhering to the KISS principle. You did EVERYTHING right with this plugin! Kudos to you!
Your channel and a few others have really encouraged me to start working on my own audio software. So far I've made a multichannel midi step sequencer, and a non-stepped midi looper. So many available devices and plugins have weird limitations or design choices, feels good to finally be able to make (some) things from scratch.
Thank you Michael for putting all your hard work into making this super sampler free for us PC users and I loved the back story :-). I still have a lot to learn in using my DAW and prefer plugins like this - makes my music making much easier.
I’m sure you have heard this a lot since you released your sampler but congrats on building a really functional little sampler. It’s so convenient to use. Thanks for your hard work.
My 3rd visit to this channel. I'm a fan of open source. I'm a dark ambient analogue fan. I use the ever expanding ocean of old gear, hacking it, repurposing it. I don't feel the need to buy the latest amazing bells and whistles. I also struggle with complicated software, I just use Audacity to create edits then mix and master my analogue noodles. Thank you so much for this. I'll spread the word.
I don’t really have a need for this since my DAW has a couple great samplers built in, but I agree with every point you raised about how other software works. Also, I admire your passion to just go ahead and learn to code your own tool like that. Good job!
Be the change you want to see in the world, but most people will change themselves before they teach themselves coding! So impressive Michael, well done and thank you!
I’ve been using it since you made this video. It’s perfect for drums and 808s. A awesome overall sampler. You did a great job man, you definitely deserve hella praise!
I feel your frustrations with the software managers and file management so much! Felt like a rally to action. The sampler seems so refreshing and thoughtless to use, and this I feel is so important for letting inspiration take its course. Can't wait to try it out :)
In just one video I have become your total fan. In many ways, your philosophy reminds me of my friend Phil Sudo, who wrote Zen Guitar - the most important guitar lesson I ever had that still teaches me to this day.
You are the greatest example of someone solving (a) problem(s) which they have directly experienced firsthand. Also I love your clear and declarative video style. You are a joy to listen to. And YES YES YES, acquisition syndrome is such a real thing haha 😂
yes dude! your view on like the naming and other things is so great! Basic and at the same time genius. It is like you are using music production technics to program a plugin. And the hole not messing up your pc concept, I love it! Easy Sub, just because of the vision you have. It is insane how you are kind of the first one with this kind of approach
I love this! I’ve been looking for a tool to take long samples and chop them into smaller samples - analyze, scrub, mark, and save. This inspires me to write my own and gives me hope that someone will make one.
Thank you my friend for this amazing simple plugin - I am a guitarist and I get easily confused - almost as much as the bass player in my band - so your plugins are perfect for old fossils like me. ♥♥♥♥♥
A free and simple to use VST/Standalone sampler very similar to yours that I have used is called Sitala - It's really good for loading drum samples and making kits. I love your spirit. Keep up the good work!
Congrats on learning programming, and filling a gap in the free vst world. This is a lot like the sample editors in Tracker software, which I love, but I haven’t seen many VSTs that do this simply. Excited to try this out, and I expect it will be my main melodic sampler.
I am very impressed, sir. Most exceptionally impressed. The symbol is beautifully simple in keeping with the aesthetics of this design. Yet, when you revealed its origin in a Bruce Lee quote It was quite profound. Respect!
the YT algorithm recommended this video, and it is excellent -- I, too, think that apps that duplicate source files is DISGUSTING I prefer PC, but have iphone. It is asinine how apple designed their file system. Your Sample player looks awesome! Well done! And thank you for telling your opinion so clearly and forcefully. Amazing how a brand new programmer can develop a superior sampler. Bravo
this is the first video in this genre not throwing overblown plugins with trashy animations and ripoff midi packs at me while not doint anything promised in the title. gave a sub keep it up!
@@theroyalcrane 😜👍 Alternatively, Drag'n' Drop would have worked, and then it could have been foreshortened to D&D Sampler ... But that might be excessive 🤔
Wow! Thanks for your inspiration. You truely bring some fresh air to this platform. You opened my eyes to not needing and wanting all that silly gear and useless plugins which just fill up my room and my harddrive.
Loving your channel more and more. Great stuff. A couple of suggestions on the player. Label the dial, trim, attack, release, pitch etc. also provide values at least so you know where zero is. Give it a a loop function (not just one shot). Maybe also an ability to gain stage (increase/decrease volume) within the player so you can adjust if the sample is too loud or too soft when it is imported. Cheers.
Just to let you know that I bought your app for iOS and it rocks! I pair it with a midi AuV3 progressions and it’s so fun. I get some crazy unique sounds that I struggle to come up with before. I haven’t tried for pc and Mac yet because my workflow is different on software but I plan to down the road.
I don’t think I’ll use the iOS version, just the macOS version. Because I want to support you I just bought the iOS version, hope this helps! Massive kudos for your work 😍
Thank you so much for this. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated. I never got into sampling but will try yours. You truly are very generous for taking your precious time and doing this.
would be great if it recognized a sample folder, so you could quickly audition through all the samples in the folder -- eg. w/ arrow keys -- similar to Cockos sampler (ReaSamplomatic 5000). Thnx!
we missed you, we sat looking longingly out a window as rain pattered on it and in the distance thunder sounded, as if to give voice to our dispondant state. Then like the Morning Sun cresting verdant pasture, the rain recedes! and he brings plugins! neat.
Looking forward to hearing a retrospective about building this. I work in software development myself but have never looked into plugin development. Not that I need another hobby to lose myself in at this point though! Also, awesome work btw! Damn impressive to take the initiative like that and just roll your own solution!
you sir are truly a breath of fresh air. all praise to you.
You continue to sell the healthiest approach to music I have ever seen. I'm so glad your back.

And I will also reveal how bad works their favorite companies did.
Its amazing how much people complain and how little they actually DO.

I find your software philosophy very refreshing, and I share your views on this. A reverb plugin does not need a spell checker.
You are one of the real troopers in the community. Thank you for all you do.
Thanks! Keep up the great work! 👌
I love that I'm not the only one who has these pet peeves, so obviously this player/plugin is exciting for me.
Glad that I'm not alone too 😤
