Waiting for the $10 raspberry pi based OP-1
there is! it's not $10 since RPi's are a bit expensive atm but it's way cheaper than buying an OP-1!
ruclips.net/video/h5UmPTttN1s/видео.html
I hope I can build one soon
@@JawadKhan-qn3lp oh yeah, I’ve seen that floating around. I’d love to make a custom groovebox for myself out of a Pi one day but I know nothing about coding 😢
Coming from a tracker, it's absolutely nuts that most DAWs don't have a simple and efficient sample player built in.
Totally feel you 🤯
Yes, I must agree… letting the left and right button scroll through the samples is a very smart feature you added to version 2!
Just make it 2.99 across every platform. I think you will sell more and it makes more sense. Patreon is a psychological barrier i'm not willing to go past. Love your work and your channel. Keep it up!
Understandable, but there will be more plugin and update for Patreon, kind of like Bitwig and Reaper, one can say stop and leave at any time.
I agree, I buy lots of indie software but refuse to buy any subscription based products
I agree. I went to Patreon and it's a complicated hoop I'm not going to research and jump through. More comfortable and *more efficient* to pay $3.
I don't think the software will stop working because you cancel the Patreon once you have it downloaded. As long as this is the case I have no issue with the payment model. You will potentially get full access to a ton of things for a month too as a bonus.
Hi. My name is Andrew and I have GAS. Thank you for your channel, hopefully... I can one day... recover from GAS. One day at a time. 🙏
pm君,你太棒了,你是真正的rocker
谢谢~野生所以扛造
Man I’ve been using your old sample player on all my beats over stock ones. It’s great and easy to just drag and drop with little controls. I appreciate your work man, so simple yet useful. This is an welcome update 🔥🔥🔥
This plugin will change my workflow? No. This plugin will change my life. ;-)
Seer is another good preview alternative for windows
You are always full of quality knowledge and ideas, thank you
Thanks for the Update bro, waiting your video of the new ableton Push 3 👀
And it's coming 🤫
@@playpm yeaaaah! Already have some ideas of what you’re gonna say🙌 again thanks for creating inspiring content
You did exactly what i tell to every sampler making devs. For example Sitala can read a specific folder of samples per pad but then you can only use swiping to swap sample. Swiping and dragging is never fun. So this is perfect. Please also make the next/prev buttons expose as parameters for mapping. Also something all devs forget or ignore.
Hey, you already got qwerty keyboard shortcut for that, no need to waste 2 pads on your controller.
@@playpm that assumes every ios user has both a qwerty keyboard and a midi controller. Many use ipad + controller. 2 input devices vs 3. Switching context between 3 vs 2 devices.
I see, but there's a secret trick for my design approach, the button position on screen never moves, and I do it for a reason, feel free to use it on your touch screen 😋
@@playpm well then why give the pitch knob midi and the buttons not?
Sound skipping is a creative but repetitive proces. There is a reason we can type quicker on a qwerty keyboard.
I love touch for many expressive reasons. Not for typing letters or skipping samples.
Also when you have 10 x instances each having their own midi channel.
You could control all of them with only 4 midi buttons without seeing the UI. Even useful with a on screen midi controller. But i get it and i appreciate your design. Its not as needed as having folders for samples organization.
On the iOS(ipadOS) version 2 for me the arrow buttons don't seem to do anything, but the fact that presets are working now is really super helpful and awesome.
For iOS version you need to select multiple files to make it switchable, otherwise there will only be one file in the list. After you see the file loader, select one file then you can see the Select All button, that's the most efficient way to load all the file.
@@playpm - thank you very much. Going to go try it out right now.
Loving what you’re doing here for the minimalist music makers out there. Really like the look of your sample player app. I would love for you to add the option to convert the sample to left or right channel mono, and cross fading too, it’s one less thing to thing about. I use koala a lot on iPad or logic sampler which are excellent. Peace
Thanks. Instant coffee!
How is it that I wasn't already subscribed?
This combined with Logic's drum machine designer is a super power. You can load one of these onto each pad and have entire folder libraries in a whole drum machine.
£2.99 across the board option please 😁
Great upgrade! I have a few iOS plugin ideas but I would need a video like “how to use Xcode for free without a Mac” 😅
Tbh I would recommend you the m1 MacBook air, I bought it recently, 8+512 for around $800, don't want to look back anymore.
Feature creep and transition to subscription model detected. 😉 Seriously though, dang good job on this. I'd be all over it if I hadn't already invested in things that do a bit more than just the basics. 😊
Oh no no no, it's not a subscription model, just a grab and go, unsubscribe if you don't feel like keep paying.
Would be interesting to see your take on logic Pro on ipad
Soon I'll share everyone how to use it for free, legally 🤫
@@playpm You the real MVP
Use TAL sampler, it is the most efficient.
And cross-platform!
a update yes! and its free
Cool
This seems really intuitive. Just curious, have you thought about creating a Slicer/Chopper? Same Principle, but useful for loops. I find most of those programs to be overly complicated (a ton of FX & knobs) or expensive. Either way thank you for making AAsampler
It's in my development plan, only I need to find more time to finish it. Stay tuned
@@playpm You...just made, my entire Year!!
Here’s what would make this amazing: Be able to set my Root Key (seems to be C3 now?) for a sample (and NOT have it transpose).
Why?
I use Logic Pro for iPad.
I want to be able and add as few or many tracks using AASamplePlayer as I wish.
Then create a Summing Stack, and use the pattern editor for my tracks.
I.E.:
BD as C3
SD as C#3
CH as D3
…etc.
Maybe it already works, I just can’t make it work.
Maybe for the future.
Yes, there will be one for this user case, only need a little bit of my time :)
That will be fantastic. And… the way to do it today is to use DMD (Drum Machine Designer), there I can add AASamplePlayer to each pad; and each pad allows me to specify Input Note and Output Note. So that works great.
And maybe just maybe :) … a way to keep flipping the samples …. If I have 39 samples today and arrow my way to 39 it ends, so I have to arrow my way back, it would be cool if it was continuous, so that after 39 I keep arrowing forward and then come to sample 1 again… a thought
Hey again, I am noticing that when I use LogicPro for iPad the waveform for the samples does not appear if I close a project and reopen it. Would be cool if it did :)
Coolest
For me saving the actual file into the auv3 status would be better for archiving as the sample would be saved in the project
I know sometimes it can be convenient, but it'll multiple the storage usage for a single sample. I do have another product idea supporting that, will let everyone know once it's ready.
Btw I did tried the way you mentioned in my early days of development, but if you're using a long sample, then changing parameters in certain DAW would be super laggy, cuz it'll trigger the DAW to save the entire plugin status, including the sample file itself. You might feel some plugin don't have that issue, they're actually duplicating that sample into their standalone app folder, then save the file path just like my approach, again, same file duplicated unnecessarily.
Hello, I'm from Brazil and the Patreon link is not opening here.
Hi, I found Patreon should be accessible in Brazil from Patreon's official QA, maybe switch to another wifi or try this link www.patreon.com/posts/aasampleplayer-2-83574970
Hi Michael! I will like to use it connected with a keyboard/ controller. Can it be mapped and controlled by real knobs?
I need to make it portable (Ipad+Controller) and use the knobs like pitch or release in a live situation
If the DAW supports midi mapping then yes, I put all the knobs available for DAW to control.
signing up for another service instead of just paying you once is annoying, put it on gum road or something
but yeah im interested enough to go through the whole process haha
I feel your pain, I also considered Gumroad, but I do have a lot more to share, and Patreon is the one which has the most potential and suits my plan better.
Restart ios device in case it does not show up in your host after install
Cross-platform when?
Already.
@@playpm Nope, doesn't run in Linux.
Try use vst3 adaptor before I release Linux version, I heard it's doable.
@@playpm Not sure what you mean with "vst3 adaptor", but I'm not going to use some convoluted method in place of a native build.
Since you use JUCE building for Linux is absolutely trivial. I'm sure you can do it!
I'll buy a Linux version if you release it. I don't use Windows or Mac but this looks great in the video. Also, I like your honest approach to pricing with no marketing BS.
Hello Michael. Is there a way to move the play head?
Like moving the StartPoint and EndPoint at the same time without changing the size of the selected area.
It does support startpoint and endpoint and their automation, but I guess you're going to use it like a granular synth? It might be too much for a simple sample player 😅
@@playpm mmm. I think you can implement the endpoint to be relative to the startpoint. Moving startpoint will move endpoint (if not at the end of the sample), and moving endpoint won't change the startpoint. It shouldn't complicate the code that much. just think of the endpoint as a loop-length that moves with the start. then you can automate the start and length to get some basic granular action.
so, in pseudocode, assuming you use audio samples as some number type:
// after start_point, end_point and sample_length are defined and read by midi
define loop_length = end_point;
end_point = start_point + loop_length;
if end_point > sample_length then
end_point = sample_length
end if
// do the real work
If the start and end points are ratios of the full sample size, the math would be a bit different, but still pretty straight forward.
Thanks for the input. That'll be a startpoint + length design, I didn't choose this way cuz it has its own problem, if I control the endpoint first then once I change startpoint, the endpoint work will be wasted. Plus it's not meant to be used as a granular synth, it's a basic sample player with simple chopper. Initially I didn't even include endpoint control cuz one can already control the endpoint using midi note length with release turned off. I design it to not have too much to kill time, just load play and move on.
Does it have a random button/order?
It will list the files by nature name, no random function.
The way I organize my samples seems incompatible with the way your plugin navigates through audio files. Can you please confirm it?
For example, in my "kicks" folder I have many other subfolders (each one representing a different sample pack, from where the original sounds came from), if I use the left and right keys, will I be forced to use only the "kicks" from that sample pack, or will it jump to the next folder?
I'm asking because I can do it with sitala sampler, but there I can't use the keyboard arrows for switch navigate through samples, which is extremely time saving
For now it's only scanning files in folder root path, I want to simplify the navigation process. Personally I don't enjoy Sitala's design, I have different design idea for drum set loader cases. Stay tuned.
@@playpm Looking forward to it! Cheers
If I wanna use it with Koala Sampler, can you show a demo?
You'll need to use a DAW like AUM/GarageBand to hook them together, won't be hard to figure it out I think.
There is no reason to what so ever if you are in Koala. And Koala is not a host. Btw if anyone has issues loading the plugin on iOS. If it does not show up just reboot ios device. 👍🏻
Yeah, it's basically the keyboard mode in koala, but I put a different approach with file dealing, and it can be easier to use in a DAW environment.
@@playpm yes its perfect to use with multiple instances. It would be helpful to import a folder + content. for example Kicks. Then you select the folder Kicks in the auv3 instance. Then add next instance and repeat for the next channels. Because currently all imported samples are in 1 folder. So you end up sample searching ( which you are trying to prevent) if you import different types of samples
But its great anyway:) thanks
@@playpm Thank you I tried it and having this simple voice trimmer, loader, and small extra useful autio tweaker from you works well! Thanks!
If it doesn't slice samples....... It's not worth it.
Don't take it wrong, it's a super easy to use chromatic one shot sample player, not sample chopper, although it supports start and end point control, but only one slice. I do have sample chopper plugin plan, stay tuned.
