The red locking button holds it at full power. Presumably a foot control could control the speed rather than it being a binary switch if the trigger is a variable speed control?

I bought a dremel toolstand 220, and this was also in consideration, and this looks like its all metal except the red knob, while this dremel appears to be all plastic except the base and pole. I kind of wish I went with this instead.
That’s funny you say that. I was debating this or the dremel kit. I got this because I didn’t want to be forced into only a dremel, but I didn’t know it was low quality.
THis looks great its what I need to drill a straight hole. found it online for $30.00, Cdn, but shipping was $89.00, I have to think about that, amazon wants $99.00 but no shipping.
I ordered one of these yesterday. It seems useful, I will see when it arrives. I'm not ready to buy a drill press yet but I'm tired of crooked holes drilling handheld so I'm giving this a go!
@@FootageFactory I got it yesterday. I set it up, although I still have to arrange me some corded drill for it. The bottom isn't so flat so it rocks on the table. Overall I think it's useful.
@@FootageFactory The model that I have tends to lean forward slightly, resulting in a slightly obtuse angle along one axis (the one that runs from the main shaft towards you). I've tried to correct this by jamming a sliver of wood between the maiin shaft and the slot it goes into in the front, thus forcing the armature to stand correctly. A permanent solution would be to insert the main shaft into a suitable flange, and then screw the flange onto a wooden base, dispensing with the drill's metal base. Anyway, thanks for your response.
Been wanting to check your channel out and subscribe, from seeing you many times on Jo Daddy's Garage! Cool stuff! Keep the videos coming! More tools is a good thing!
I bought one of these many years ago and just recently took it out and of course none of my drills will fit either. Now after watching your video I will get out my old hammer drill and see if it works I figured it was way too big since my other drills were too big., from a new subscriber.
My drill is a triple reduced, VSR, 1/2 inch keyed chuck. DW235G Not a hammer. Collar is 43mm! :-) I bought drill because my drill press is made for wood. Too fast, mostly. Do you think this machine can handle a high torque drill needing lots of down pressure as well, to make fair sized holes in metals?
When you call in to the drill manufacture they don’t know what you’re talking about and will have to connect you up the chain to answer that question. Ask me how I know.
Wow - I wouldn't have thought about a collar on my drills. Of the 4 drills (corded/battery/hammer) none have a collar. Not sure if I want to shell out some more money for a collared drill. Nice review.
Did you make sure it makes perfect 90° holes though? I'm looking forward into getting one since I'm studying carpentry and have an upcoming project where I need perfectly straight holes! Also where did you buy the foot switch?
Is it a perfect 90deg, it is not. This isn’t the most accurate device but it works. I can give you a link to the foot pedal, but I need to know what country you’re in.
I don't know of any cordless drill that can be mounted to this drill stand. There are some cordless hammer drills with the auxiliary handle but as far as I know the collar on them is larger than 43mm
It’s alright, it’s good if you already have a drill, but if you have big jobs, maybe an actual drill press might be better. But in the mean time this might hold you over.
I bought one few years ago, if you looking for drill press and you don't need precision this is ok, not for my standards, I spent lots of time trying to make it right unfortunately it's what it is, inexpensive Chinese products 😔
Please do a video showing how to take advantage or utilise the four routed metal slots in the base plate that run from each corner of the base plate towards the centre hole.
I have the same stand and same Bosch drill. However when I try to drill metal, my Bosch drill machine slide back (upwards and be free of collar holder). I use collar adjustment adaptor came with the stand. Whatever force I squeeze the collar bolt it did the same. I used electrician tape, the same slide out of collar. Any help?
It slides that easy? I wish I could see the setup, I wonder if you could synch it down with zip ties. I actually lost a sleeve, so to fill the void I used a zip tie. In fact when I get out to the shed next I’ll take a picture and post it for you.
Thanks for your review. There was something that concerned me and that is that the shaft holder when loosened it can make the drill go left or right, so if not careful when tightening the holder you can drill down missing the clearance hole on the base. I would have assumed the the shaft would have a groove of some kind making it impossible to make this error. Or does it have that? Note: I'm not referring about the 90 degree holder, but the part that holds the shaft (pole).
No it does not have a groove to hold the unit steady and straight. I see your point in regards to safety and straight drilling. I like that I can swivel in case I need to drill something not on the table, rotate the unit 180 degrees to do larger objects. You do make a good point btw.
The red circle 🔴 button on the handle of the Bosch drill locks it’s to continual use. It’s the one next to the trigger. No cable ties are necessary.
You learn sumpin erry day
Thnx

Very helpful thanks. There's no depth stop right? Just an indicator. Just installed it. It's a physical stop. And it snapped when I tightened it.
Never missed a beat in your description *****. A mm measurement tool which can be found on amazon will accurately measure your collar on drill.

The Black and Decker hammer drill fits this. But does this drill press drill perfectly perpendicular?
For the most part. It does need the plastic spacer that came with the kit, but yea.

I’m a sucker for making old tools work, especially because a drill press cost so much and takes up so much room to the point I can’t justify it!

Hi, did you like the stand? I am plannning to buy but not sure about the accuracy.. The price seems pretty high.
It is actually a Proxxon clone, it even uses the micromot sticker on it, thanks for the video!
It's not really a clone but a Proxxon inspired Chinese device that needs some improvements. However it's more than twice less expensive.

there is no way that he has a drill with a circumference of 38-48 that would one skinny drill collar i know he means diameter it has to be diameter

A zip tie would allow you to set it to a particular speed if it's a variable speed trigger. Otherwise using the red button means it's on full power.
