    Thanks very much. You saved me from buying another low precision drill.

  • @gotzolones
    @gotzolones 3 года назад +11

    To center a hole, it is first marked and the first drilling is made with a small drill bit so that the guide does not move from the central punch or the one you want. You never start with a big bit and less in metal

    • @DrHouse-zs9eb
      @DrHouse-zs9eb 7 месяцев назад +2

      Thats wrong. If you have a high precision drill you dont need to drill more than once.

  • @Buizie

    Also I think the reason for the bit slip is because your vise isn't bolted down to the bottom plate itself. Try to bolt it down next time! :)

    don't start drilling the finished holes size in one go.. always start with a smaller drill bit and then work up to using the final size bit. The drifting is usual with these kind of mini drills... However I wouldn't use a final drill bit size even on a workshop's full size pillar drill!
    I'm pleased you demoed the 5 position dial.. Many of these are sold as having five speeds and give no indication as to 'how' speeds are adjusted. Thanks

  • @svdelhi
    @svdelhi Год назад +2

    First of all , I tell you it is 710 watt at 50 Hz. frequency and as you lower the speed , power will also go down because its speed is controlled by variable frequency just like in case of a fan regulator. So as you lower the speed , power will also go down & machine will not operate at 710 watts at lower speeds . This 710 watts is only at full speed at 50 Hz.
    Next you need to first fix the machine firmly & securely on the table top with perfect alignment in x, y & z directions. Check the proper alignments with tri square & spirit level .
    Next you also need to firmly fix the job vise on the base plate of machine. & properly secure the workpiece fixed in the vise jaws. No grip should be loose anywhere.
    Also ensure the bit is sharp enough & exactly vertical ( making 90 Degree with Base Plate ) & not bent & should be firmly tightened in the drill chuck.
    While drilling in metal - start with a less size drill bit & then slowly increase the bit size as per the required hole size.
    Use a coolant spray on the bit & work surface for proper heat dissipation.
    Start initial holes at slow speed with less dia drill bit size in case of metal .
    This drill is definitely not meant for thick iron & steel for large size holes.
    Also the drill bits purchased from Bangood are very inferior quality - cheap Chinese makes with very less life not properly hardened - will soon worn out . Use some good quality drill bits of reputed make especially for metal drilling.
    Only by adopting above all , you can get continuous useful work with this light duty machine.

      I partly disagree because there can be a feedback loop to keep the speed constant meaning it will never "get its power down"

    adjust the 3 bolts on side of the dovetail guide and put some greace on the sliders both side and you have no slip ,backlash anymore it will drill very precise and accurate

    I bought new of these the slightly bigger version, p probably about 12 inch. I think it’s 1000 W or something like that. So far I like it. It’s a brush motor. I wish it was direct drive. Thinking about getting a keyless chuck for it and figuring out how to swap that out. Other than that, so lightweight easy to move around, and I can do guitar work with it. I can put strings in the back of a telecaster with it. I was shocked that I had enough room to do that just about have a 6 inch throat. Make sure you get the right model.

    To drill through the centre of the bolt, clamp the drill bit and spin the bolt in the drill chuck. You will always drill true. Like a lathe.
    Wrong technique, not a problem with the drill

    • @fungames24
      @fungames24 3 года назад +2

      The structure itself is flimsy and will allow the bolt to move out of position. That support tube is hollow! The only solution is a smaller bit or a bigger center hole. The hole drilled by the smaller bit then guides a bigger bit.

  • @giratina491
    @giratina491 Год назад

    you have to bolt the drill on a solid non moving bench to avoid the drill bit to mis-align

      Yeah the other "green" one that has a metal housing with a separate motor and quill and a belt drive like a full size drill press and isn't just a drill motor on a stand is much, much better than this one. Get that and not this if you need a small benchtop drill press that works like it should.

      @@atomicskull6405 I know the one you're talking about, but why do you say it's better? Is it more rigid? That one has a smaller chuck, I think 10mm vs 13mm.
