There was a different woodworker who did a review on Temu tools, and he pointed out that they had direct copies of many of his other big American name tools. He pointed out how much damage that does to domestic brands when foreign (China) brands rip them off. Temu isn’t spending any money on research and development. The only R&D they do is using old big name tooling in their brand's factories.
I kind of blame it on these domestic brands to some extent. It's no secret that Chinese factories will copy your product if you have it manufactured there. Once the tooling and everything is created and they start production, they've got what they need to rip you off. Yet these companies continue using them, because Chinese manufacturing is cheap and they want that big profit margin. So I have a hard time feeling too sorry for them, because they basically made a deal with the devil.
Temu is just a reseller. Of course they do no R&D. Its pretty much Amazon from China. Not to mention how many of the big brand names are being made in China, most likely from the exact same shop that makes the clones.
Good luck finding a website that doesn't sell your personal information (which they don't exist) if you want to keep your personal information, then don't buy anything online at all
You're on youtube, which is owned by google, which are the biggest information merchants in the world, your information is sold by amercan companies 99% of the time, not chinese ones. You shouldn't buy on temu because of the slavery, not because it's chinese.
I bought the Temu mid size light that takes a 20V DeWalt battery. Son if a gun is bright!! I left it on low all night at work, came in the next morning and it seemed just as bright as when I went home. I hate to admit it, but after using it several times, I bought the two smaller ones for home and for my motorbike trailer. Takes for ever to draw down the standard battery, can only imagine how long it would last with the bigger 20V batteries. Very pleasantly shocked. EDIT: I own a hydraulic repair shop, these DeWalt compatible lights have done very well with the oil too.
One the major problems with cheap stuff like this, especially from China is usually quality control. It's not that none of the stuff works, it's just that they ship almost anything they make and rather deal with returns and refunds than make sure their products aren't defective. Which depending on who you bought it from, their return policies might be poor.
Try using a makita battery in the javn brand stuff. It’s worked for me before with a single hand battery chain saw and the makita battery in it made it much better to use and it didn’t cut out like the cheap battery does in it.
Shame you did this, temu has recorded child labor and forced labor from camps, sad to see you fell for the bag of money, a big fan of yours but this is just bad, almost evil. You are promoting slave labor.
I respect you massively John and I know everyone has to make money but I'm disappointed that you're working with this company. Not only do they directly damage American-made products, but the practices they use are nothing short of scummy. I expected more from you!
This video makes me queasy. Was hoping it would be an unbiased review like the other pallet grabs but I had to stop half way through when it became clear it would just be an ad for Temu. All this hype for cheap tools that are clearly ripping off designs from woodworking tools makers isn't cool, same with repeatedly taking digs at Rockler prices as if they were selling comparable quality tools. Rockler, and the other companies being put down in this advertisement, have been part of the woodworking community for decades and offer so much more than just cheap tools. As an experienced woodworker I'd argue that it's terrible for beginners to stock their shop with dodgey knock-off tools from an importer like Temu. It will make the craft frustrating and confusing to learn when the tools they rely on don't work properly and fall apart on them. Not to mention safety issues with this junk that new woodworkers might won't have the experience to recognize before an accident.
Would love to see an endurance test. How many screws can you drive on a full battery? How much down time between battery charges? How long before tool malfunction? It’s fine to pay half price for a tool, but if you have to buy three, might as well go for the better brand.
Harbor freight is cheaper at like $42 and I use it everyday at work mostly for air filter boxes and it only needs charged twice a month at most. I got two batteries for that price and it appears that they take less then 1 hour to charge but sense i have two batteries I havnt paid close attention lol
If you are a DIY enthusiast, I'd recommend the Einhell tool range. They have a 3 year warranty extension and 10 year service guarantee for the brushless motor in ALL brushless tools. Unlike the other DIY type tools, they also sell all the spare parts.... and I mean LITERALLY EVERYTHING!! The big brands don't even do that for the majority of their tools. In 5 years of using their tools, I've only had 1 battery die and 1 charger, and I use them a LOT. They are also compatible with a load of the other cheap DIY brands
Einhell are super good, especially their cordless drills, and I've heard good things about their cordless grinders The only big letdown I've ever had from them was a cordless impact wrench, they're just not powerful enough for the majority of applications.
for the price of these I'm spending 20% more for hercules tools from HF. They have great warranties on tools and batteries and the most simple returns. Can't beat that in the "budget" tools world.
I have one of those green-and-yellow drill stands. It works okay for somebody who lives in a small apartment and doesn't have space for a real drill press.
It would be kinda cool to have a build off with 1 person using the temu tools, clamps , etc. Then, the other person's uses the expensive versions of the tools to see if it affects the build quality that much.
18:45 with lithium batteries, there is no power output difference between fully charged and almost depleted. They run exactly the same until they completely cut off. It's one of the best advantages to lithium over the old ni-cad batteries.
3:54 It is the one tool that rules them all, John. You know that it’s every woodworker’s favorite tool, it’s just that some are ready to admit it. Fun vid. Make it a great day, John.
As a professional carpenter, for individuals who are just starting out or seeking budget-friendly tools, I recommend the following: Buy used Milwaukee M12 Brushless tools along with new M12 Batteries. M12 batteries typically cost about half as much as the M18 ones, while offering the same capacity. I always recommend buying new batteries though. Buying those used is not worth the risk. I bought an almost new but used Fuel 1/4 impact driver for $70 and a 2 pack Red Lithium 2.0 battery set for $50.The impact can switch between drill mode and impact eliminating the need to purchase two tools. Once you are looking to level up, move on to the M18 series. For anything that requires lots of drilling power buy either a Makita or a Milwaukee corded drill for $115 and $90 respectively. They have plenty of power and should last you a long time. My Makita corded drill served me about 15 years.
THIS, was fun! I just completely LOST IT at: John - "See the power settings? Seven and H (best mocking tone of the year). Chris: "Uhhhh, Low and High" - Serious I was done... everything after that was just bonus video.

Every single company on the internet is collecting/selling your information, including Google & Amazon. Pretending Temu is any different or "worse" is ludicrous. If you shop online, your information is already out there. Same goes for "slave labor". Look around your house, right now...I guarantee you have 500 things within arms reach that were made in China, India or Bangladesh, etc. Amazon, Walmart, Big Lots, Costco, Target...every single one of them uses products that came from a country with poor conditions where workers are not paid a fair amount. You can't pick and choose, and pretend you're better than anyone, just because you don't purchase from one single company.
okay i gotta say. i appreciate that you at least were kinda honest. i hate that temu is sponsor and i hate that the vid is sponsored by the product your reviewing but i do gotta say you were pretty honest for the most part and i thank you.
I got the router table plate well not that exact one but close enough and its actually pretty good. I used it in building a small router table and it was more solid that I thought it would be. The only complaint would be that it came with some plastic circles to be used with smaller bits, but they are so lightweight that the air from the router literally blows it away. I did also get a router lift to go along with it, it seemed to work at first but the screw that rises and lowers is just too loose and under load the vibrations cause it to lower on you. I'm going to try and see if I can find a way to correct that. When ordering from TEMU just be careful and try to get as much info as possible, reading reviews help. I've mostly had good luck with things I got through them, there have been a few misses.
I paid AU$12 for the router table and routed it into a bigger deck, it works well and is all heavy aluminium. I did have to drill mounting holes for my old Ozito router.
Those $50 stick welders work great in a pinch. I wouldn't use it to fabricate anything, but for a quick repair its wonderful. Perfect for the neighbor collection. Some even have TIG capabilities (Lift TIG)
I had that same craftsman set! I was a traveling tech at the time so it was awesome. Lost the drill base off my trailer and was so sad lol. I still have the accessories and another busted drill base.
what’s hilarious to me is that I have bought some of that same exact junk😊 I tell folk for the prices, you gotta expect that 20% of it is just hype - I mean what did you expect for less than $3😉
Certain things are worth the extra investment even when you're starting out, and personally, I would consider power tools and anything I need to be an accurate angle or straight edge to be in that category. Better to spend more on known reputable brands. Quality doesn't cost, it pays
I read a review of a two-bit, made in China Harbor Freight roofers triangle thingy. Had the angles marked right on it. The guy who bought it used it to erect an entire roof, and when you got to the end nothing was lining up. Finds out that those doggone Chinese had etched the wrong angle markings on to it. Is it worth saving a couple bucks?
Appreciate John making a video about these tools so people know what they're getting into. Good point about Temu vs HF when it comes to warrenty/returns too. Would love to see more testing!
Running a paid ad for a company that sells cheap versions of items they only have due to copyright infringement, and Chinese loose labor conditions is not a good look.
And every homeworker need Makita to use it one time every few months? It'a like comparing a small Toyota with a RollsRoys. With both cars you come from a to b but with differend kind of comfort and power.
if you are on a budget best off getting a half ok, compressor and running air tools there usually a lot cheaper and even the stuff that's only 20$ works well
"it can cut through space grade aluminum cable" - yeah no shit, its still aluminum, I'm pretty sure I could cut through that with the rusty wire snips in my basement
I got an oscillating tool, a circular saw, a recip saw, a driver, and an impact driver for less than $200, all Skil brand, just by catching clearance deals at local home inprovement stores. Just keep an eye out for clearance tags and talk to the deparment lead, most of the time you'll get it at a lower price because theyre trying to get rid of it.
How accurate to either need to be for the VERY occasional DIY types? If you only use your tools for one or two moves per decade, maybe 3 repairs per year and once that Dogshed in the yard, do you need tools for 2890 bucks or is the cheap out collection at 175 bucks for the 3 core pieces enough? Not everybody wants or needs to form a company throwing out 100 pieces of great quality furniture per month...
Well, as long as the rulers are consistent it is accurate. I mean it doesn't matter in what unit you measure, it could be 1.1inch, as long as every marking is at the same distance from the others you'll be ok. One can use a twig to measure. In that case your cabinet will be 2twigs wide and 3 twigs high for example. It is only a problem if you work with established measurements, like drawings etc. for all the rest relative measurements are better anyway.
Ridgid often has a combo Drill and an Impact Driver for $99 and regularly priced at $159, so no reason to go Temu on those items (if you need both). Also you really gotta factor in batteries to power tool cost, they are the major cost in them, often more then the tool.
Biggest question is how long will those tools last. Usually things are good when they're new but doubt that cheap tools can stand same abuse like well known brands. Would be interesting to look inside and check quality of components, wires, soldering etc...
which only matters if you use the stuff all the time. Which most people won't do. If you only have your tools for some repairs, maybe the few things during a move that need tools and one project you absolutely wanted to do yourself like a gardenshed or doghouse, why pay good money for professional tools if you never will drive those to the limit anyway?
@@Ugly_German_Truths well I would rather then buy Bosch Hone line than something dead cheap from China. For Bosch you can get replacement parts. If its for just one project most hardware stores have option to rent tools so Id rather go for that option then.

my big problem with it is that they steal other companies intellectual property and ignore patents, copyright and trademarks. They even completely steal the imagery and packaging so it looks almost identical. They also ignore a lot of safety standards with some of these products
My beginners tip is to find your self excellent cordless drill. Then based on that get your self tools you need most from that brand and clone tools that use same battery system for those that you least use and corded version on the tools you least use or dont need to move. You can also 3d print or buy adapters to mod your cheap tools (those with in same voltage) to your better batteries you chose. That way you get into tooling with best price to quality ratio. Still while corded is supposedly obsolete, you dont have batteries dying and in general those are kinda cheaper in most cases, so i would highly suggest getting those, specially on some yard sales etc cheaply. Only thing you really need that is good is the cordless drill, since you can screw screws, drill and even poverty lathe with with it.

China is already making the American named tools.
That's not what the RUclipsr said.
Temu is just a reseller. Of course they do no R&D. Its pretty much Amazon from China. Not to mention how many of the big brand names are being made in China, most likely from the exact same shop that makes the clones.
@@JohnClark-tt2bl I replied before I seen your comment, then I seen you said pretty much the same thing as me.
I'll spend the extra money and keep my personal information
make sure you never order off ANY other website existing which does exactly the same 😂
Good luck finding a website that doesn't sell your personal information (which they don't exist) if you want to keep your personal information, then don't buy anything online at all
Yes whenever i buy something i try not to do it online. My friends also say but amazon is so much cheaper. I dont care.
You're on youtube, which is owned by google, which are the biggest information merchants in the world, your information is sold by amercan companies 99% of the time, not chinese ones. You shouldn't buy on temu because of the slavery, not because it's chinese.
Probably don't be on RUclips if you want to keep your data too.
Don't forget their reputation as a company is currently in the toilet, and covered under a mountain of the brown stuff.
Who? Temu?
@@darkmagna9004
Yup.
Man, nothing hurts your reputation like a paid sponsorship for temu.
🤣
Nothing is free on temu. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
But I've been waiting for a new video John. Thx
Not to mention safety issues with this junk that new woodworkers might won't have the experience to recognize before an accident.
well said
@@MaxRide1 I stopped watching as soon as he said Temu reached out to him, I knew what kind of video this was going to be. 👌🍆
I’ve used it for a year now so it was definitely worth it lol
If you are a DIY enthusiast, I'd recommend the Einhell tool range. They have a 3 year warranty extension and 10 year service guarantee for the brushless motor in ALL brushless tools. Unlike the other DIY type tools, they also sell all the spare parts.... and I mean LITERALLY EVERYTHING!! The big brands don't even do that for the majority of their tools. In 5 years of using their tools, I've only had 1 battery die and 1 charger, and I use them a LOT. They are also compatible with a load of the other cheap DIY brands
Einhell are super good, especially their cordless drills, and I've heard good things about their cordless grinders
The only big letdown I've ever had from them was a cordless impact wrench, they're just not powerful enough for the majority of applications.
for the price of these I'm spending 20% more for hercules tools from HF. They have great warranties on tools and batteries and the most simple returns. Can't beat that in the "budget" tools world.
Best part of the video @ 19:25. The power settings are 7 and H. Laughed! thanks for not editing it out
You lost me as a viewer. Quality aside, Temu sells products that are made using literal slave labor. It's shameful. Do your research.
I just got a DeWalt 20v max drill and impact set with 2 batteries, charger and a case of bits for 139$ with a bag of course.
Quality of your videos have been going down for the last months, this is the pinnacle of crap. Sponsored by the worst app that can exist to date.
18:45 with lithium batteries, there is no power output difference between fully charged and almost depleted. They run exactly the same until they completely cut off. It's one of the best advantages to lithium over the old ni-cad batteries.
The day i buy anything off Temu. Is the day the sun explodes.
The blue thing that you push up against something to mark around, it's called a contour gauge.
3:54 It is the one tool that rules them all, John. You know that it’s every woodworker’s favorite tool, it’s just that some are ready to admit it. Fun vid. Make it a great day, John.
I appreciate your thorough and honest review of the Temu app, John. It's always helpful to know the pros and cons before trying out new applications.
As a professional carpenter, for individuals who are just starting out or seeking budget-friendly tools, I recommend the following:
Buy used Milwaukee M12 Brushless tools along with new M12 Batteries.
Temu is literally scamming and selling credit card info. You're a shill for taking this sponsorship.
They also use slave labor.
Agreed. I can't believe they sold out to this shit company. I lost respect for these guys
no one cares if they do slave labour, its the potential of stealing info, thats the issue but there are conflicted reports saying it was a strategy for shorting them soooooo its tricky@@Eidolon1andOnly
yea.... lets support open copyright infringement! woo hoo! like at least make your copies a different color from the original brand.
You can't pick and choose, and pretend you're better than anyone, just because you don't purchase from one single company.
okay i gotta say. i appreciate that you at least were kinda honest. i hate that temu is sponsor and i hate that the vid is sponsored by the product your reviewing but i do gotta say you were pretty honest for the most part and i thank you.
you sold out john im disappointed your promoting this temu crap
Big time, boat loads of spyware inbound
Unsubscribe then and stop crying
Omfg youtubers need to stop advertising for this shit company for views.
Agreed I lost some respect for these guys. This is obviously a paid advertisement for a bunch of junk
Especially since that company steals from its customers, sells their info, and sells producrs from Uyger forced labor (aka slave labor) camps.
Half of the makers I used to watch just buy crap like this and film it now.
No
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I paid AU$12 for the router table and routed it into a bigger deck, it works well and is all heavy aluminium. I did have to drill mounting holes for my old Ozito router.
Temu should not be allowed to ship outside of China due to patent infringement.
Those $50 stick welders work great in a pinch. I wouldn't use it to fabricate anything, but for a quick repair its wonderful. Perfect for the neighbor collection. Some even have TIG capabilities (Lift TIG)
I love Sunday morning videos when I'm stuck at work. Makes the morning so much better!
I had that same craftsman set! I was a traveling tech at the time so it was awesome. Lost the drill base off my trailer and was so sad lol. I still have the accessories and another busted drill base.
what’s hilarious to me is that I have bought some of that same exact junk😊 I tell folk for the prices, you gotta expect that 20% of it is just hype - I mean what did you expect for less than $3😉
I got the same contour gauge from Germany, build in the 70s (only a few companies made them there back then )
Certain things are worth the extra investment even when you're starting out, and personally, I would consider power tools and anything I need to be an accurate angle or straight edge to be in that category.
Better to spend more on known reputable brands. Quality doesn't cost, it pays
Buy once cry once!!
Buy it nice or buy it twice
The cheaper ones break down much quicker
I read a review of a two-bit, made in China Harbor Freight roofers triangle thingy. Had the angles marked right on it. The guy who bought it used it to erect an entire roof, and when you got to the end nothing was lining up. Finds out that those doggone Chinese had etched the wrong angle markings on to it. Is it worth saving a couple bucks?
Appreciate John making a video about these tools so people know what they're getting into. Good point about Temu vs HF when it comes to warrenty/returns too. Would love to see more testing!
i thought this was a temu return pallet video intill i checked the description and saw it was a temu influencer advert
Running a paid ad for a company that sells cheap versions of items they only have due to copyright infringement, and Chinese loose labor conditions is not a good look.
The company I used to work for used Makita on the production line. Those things would put in 4000 bolts daily. I think I saw 3 that had to be trashed.
And every homeworker need Makita to use it one time every few months? It'a like comparing a small Toyota with a RollsRoys. With both cars you come from a to b but with differend kind of comfort and power.
temu ships pretty fast tbh, and im always happy with my purchases from them 🔥💯
Are you guys using philipshead screws? Switch to torx and you'll have much more grip.
if you are on a budget best off getting a half ok, compressor and running air tools there usually a lot cheaper and even the stuff that's only 20$ works well
"it can cut through space grade aluminum cable" - yeah no shit, its still aluminum, I'm pretty sure I could cut through that with the rusty wire snips in my basement
I got an oscillating tool, a circular saw, a recip saw, a driver, and an impact driver for less than $200, all Skil brand, just by catching clearance deals at local home inprovement stores. Just keep an eye out for clearance tags and talk to the deparment lead, most of the time you'll get it at a lower price because theyre trying to get rid of it.
how accurate are the rulers is the question also and how square are the corner clamps?
Fun times. Now let’s see the battery endurance test.
On the heimerdinger products it's says it compatible with mikita batteries.
Ridgid often has a combo Drill and an Impact Driver for $99 and regularly priced at $159, so no reason to go Temu on those items (if you need both).
Also you really gotta factor in batteries to power tool cost, they are the major cost in them, often more then the tool.
This app is LITERALLY malware/spyware, just be careful with using this app
We know granpa

I love that moment where John just felt so stupid and embarrassed. 😂😂 That was so funny.
7, and H.
That needs to be a shirt. Lol.
You should do away with Phillips head. Go with Torx, won’t slip off
Biggest question is how long will those tools last.
@@escootIreland No thanks, i will buy it from just Temu or ali, and save my bucks

I had a good laugh at the “7 and H” comment lol!!! Glad y’all kept that in there
Thumbs down because temu is a sketchy ass company. Would never buy from them. Especially since their app is spyware
HILARIOUS, the small cordless screwdriver I just watched you advisorate on a previous video, just came up on a commercial while you’re opening Temu tools. TOO FUNNY!
my big problem with it is that they steal other companies intellectual property and ignore patents, copyright and trademarks.
Billion dollar parent company taking huge loses to undercut our market. They also pay no import taxes on each shipment when shipment is kept 800$ per package. Our nation has lost billions on import duties thanks to this loop hol. Hate this company but we know what they are doing.

Definitely definitely build a wood and steel flatbed for that ranger. Full on job site rig with drawers and doors. Maybe some legs so it can be loaded and unload like a truck bed camper.
John, did you happen to consider why their products are priced so cheaply? Somewhere down the line, humans are not being paid for their labor.
I had a black and decker multi tool drill set like the craftsman he mentioned, didn’t even know what a router was, and completely broke it before I ever got it attached
