I lucked out when I was new to riding. Went to a bike meet about an hour from home. They had a charity shop at the entrance, and one of the items was a used leather jacket. I tried it on, and it fit like it was made for me. It's heavy and thicker than you'd believe. I only paid $75 for it, and still wear it to this day, 15 years later.
Bruh I was so lucky, at the end of my MSF course they offered us left behind and donated gear. I made out with a pretty new Joe Rocket jacket and matching gloves for free! They’re worth more than the course costs! Take the course it’s so worth it and you may get lucky as well. They had tons of stuff.
I took a dive on my bike going down hill on a gravel road doing at least 35 - 40 mph. I was wearing leather chaps, leather jacket, helmet and steel toed boots (for work) as well as gloves. My helmet got ground down to the foam liner, my boots got ground down to the steel toes, my chaps had the snaps on the lower legs get ripped off, my jacket had the shoulder strap get ripped loose, and i had a "bursa bump" on my elbow. I was able to get back up and on the bike and ride home. The bike had superficial cosmetic damage. Thank God for proper PPE.
My first crash was kind of like that, I had a great helmet, great gloves, awesome shoes, and guess what WASN'T dinged up? My head, hands, or feet, everything else though...normal jeans and hoodie did very little.
Mine was nothing like that, I was wearing a hat, tank top, jeans, and hiking boots, hit gravel mid corner at about 30 35, hiker shredded off, jeans not too bad as I left the road pretty quick into the woods, arm, face, and head took a pretty good beating, leg completely shattered, almost lost it, and now that I can finally walk albeit with a bad limp, you'd think I'd have learned my lesson, I bought a jacket a helmet and armored jeans,,, they get too hot so guess what I continue to do like an idiot
A good rule of thumb that helped my mind set when shopping was "It's not if I feel safe going out wearing this PPE, but does my family feel safe watching me put it on?" Idk it helped me do that extra research before I added it to the cart.
I can't stress enough how bad leather jackets are if you live in a warm climate. I live in Perth, Western Australia and my leather jacket literally only gets worn when I'm going out somewhere nice for a social reasons. A good textile jacket is essential for 90% of road riding.
A little late to reply, I live in Perth myself and went to have a look at some jackets today.. Just passed the R-E and struggling to find a nice jacket, any brands you can recommend?
@@skillon7609 motorcycle gear is all about finding what fits you best. It's hard to recommend a brand as everyone has different body shapes. Just try on a lot of different stuff and don't get the cheapest option.
In my country (Portugal) the summers are particularly hot and it's a pain in the butt to have to wear a motorcycle jacket and it's always a temptation to leave it at home before going out, but there's a saying in the motorcycle community that goes like this : It's better to sweat than bleed.
@@luisglockgomes9445 Louisiana, US here. Wearing a leather jacket in our humidity and heat would be a hard no, it may even be more dangerous than dropping a bike once or twice in your life. Heat strokes are a real deal here just for being outside much less wearing a leather jacket lol.
Enjoy seeing your gear, safety-conscious videos lately. Thank you for educating those who might not appreciate the importance. Would love to see you share the distinction(s) between CE 'A'/'AA'/'AAA', perhaps in another gear-related piece (e.g., pants or jeans) so that people can make an even more fully informed decision when buying. Thanks again for dropping the knowledge! ✌🤘
I personally only buy CE and AA level gear, doesn't matter if trousers, jacket, gloves, shirts, hoodies - you name it. Same with helmets - never buy used, never buy no-name brands unless you can research them as there some good gems out there like the LS2.
@@ldorman Couldn't agree with you more and wish everyone subscribed to our beliefs. But hey, can't win 'em all, ya know? lol. Safe and happy riding to you!
i got a Helite airbag vest. looks like a club cut. expensive, yes, but cracked ribs cost more. in case of inflation it'll protect your neck provided you're wearing a full face helmet.i highly recommend
@@JabiPapi no. it's worn over everything , like a biker would wear his cut. it has to be on the top or the other gear might restrict it's inflation. like wearing a backpack is out of the question.
@@Stein1306 Treatment is not free in Europe or in Canada. It's called government subsidization. The Europeans and Canadians pay for it with exuberant taxes. Free... You are seriously uneducated...
I would also like to add: You want to see them actually list THE ARMOR as C.E. rated. Other wise they could be talking about anything from the pads to the dye. Last thing you want is to go down thinking you have C.E rated armor and it turns out it's just a foam insert.
When I was looking at my Scrambler Cafe Racer at the local Ducati dealership, they had a lone, couple year old leftover inventory black leather Ducati by Dainese jacket hanging on a rack, in a size too small for anyone else. I knew I wanted the Scrambler Cafe, and the jacket font matched the font on the bike so I took it down and tried it on and was a perfect fit. Talked the salesmen into throwing it in with the bike! Sure it didn't come with the pads the same way the jacket in the video doesn't but getting a $500 jacket for free makes up for it if I decided to get pads for it later. I do have a pad filled, breathable mesh jacket as well that I wear during summer months.
Those gun pockets always make me laugh... my Heroic riding hoodie has them... if you have any expirience with firearms you know if you put the G19 it says it's sized for in there... it would take you minutes to draw... lol
When I first started riding I grabbed amazon jackets and pants... a full textile set... was like $100 for both peices. I expected it to be terrible but would let me get into riding on a budget in case I decided it wasn't for me. I liked them so much i ordered the mesh set as well. They have lasted fantastic, I still use the textile for riding all winter here in PA. I keep them for loaner gear and the mesh works great off road ADV riding as it is armored and flows crazy air. I've went down off road on my Super Ten without any issue but never tried them out on pavement. But over 2 years of constant use and no bad seams or wear at all. Took so long to replace them because they work so well. Just a thought for those on a smaller budget.
I did the exact same thing a couple months ago. Holding up great. The second I thought about getting a summer oriented jacket I got a nail in my tire so there went my gear money haha. Guess I'll see how this set does in the warm.
@@taliesinangling3564 like I said, I personally didn't volunteer to go for a slide on the street... however there are a good many anecdotal post of people posting online and RUclips about their HWK brand gear holding up after a spill. All I can speak to is their durability after a couple years of basically daily use. No weak or popped seams, the included armor is CE rated with the correct moto numbers on it, even the zippers have been flawless. When I would handle and try on jackets at the local cyclegear, I couldn't see or feel drastic quality differences until I was into a $350-400+ price range. Is it as nice as my new Rev It summer jacket? No, but only marginally no. One main point of me posting this is, for $50 each for pants and jacket, there's no monetary excuse to not wear gear. Even/especially when just getting started.
@@Invaderz14 when I took my msf i used the full textile setup... stupidly didn't have any other long sleeve shirt. Even though it was in October in PA, it hit 80°... I was wringing my gloves out from the sweat. That night, I ordered the mesh setup... lol
those cheap jackets and pants will shred up as soon as you hit the pavement. Road rash guaranteed. But still, its better than riding in a tshirt and shorts.
I agree with those points about onesies, but mine literally did save me from myself when I got a bit enthusiastic on a back road one afternoon, so I can't really argue against them.
Whelp, I bought the Harley jacket. Yeah, had to sell one of my children to pay for it. It does come with all the pockets, beltloops and such and the fit for riding is perfect. Heavy as sin so the armour pads I added are a bonus. It bounces thrown gravel no problem. Wouldn't change it for textile. Mind you, where I ride we get warm to hot days in the 'summer' but for the most part the weather always has an edge. Winter - nah, park it or drown. I'm headed south to California this spring so I might get to see how it works in places where it really does get hot. Overall, great info and yet one more good, informative content video. Time well spent.
So you’re heading down south to Cali, you where a heavy leather jacket most of the year because it’s always cold, and you mostly don’t ride in the winter because you’ll drown? It sounds like you live in Washington too! 🤣
I find it interesting that practically all the Harley jackets now come with pockets for all the armor. They however only sell the armor separately. My first armored jacket was a leather First Gear jacket, that I bought at the time not the armor, but it was an actual women's fit and it fit perfect! I fell in love with the armor. Somewhere 20 years ago I went all textile, pants and jacket and I love my armored gear by AGV.
I actually wear a CE Level 2 hoodie under my 'normal' leather jacket sometimes - especially when riding into town. I also wear biker jeans , as well Level 2 - the great thing is, people don't even notice you are wearing biker gear. I was wearing that stuff at work not just once and one of my colleagues did say to me that I'm brave riding without gear - then I showed him that it has actually protection. I like a causal look but don't want to give up protection. Also, I am not a hardcore, going fast rider, yes I have a early 2000 1-litre naked bike what snaps the speedo in just after 3 sec, but it the same with wearing a 500m water resistant watch - I will never dive 500m but I don't panic if it falls into the sink.
I went from shorts and t-shirt to full one-piece race suit always on. If you get one of the high end ones, it's amazing. Using stuff like Dainese undersuit D-Core tech, I'm 100% comfortable in both heat and cold (sometimes the same day - from the desert-like beach areas to the top of a mountain). Going to a restaurant and walking around for a while is not an issue. PERFECT. You can be safe and comfortable these days. But remember! Most damage/injuries are hip/legs injuries (including deep internal bleeds). Your jacket is just that, a jacket.
Lmao I couldnt imagine meeting up with a girl for a date and showing up in full leathers haha but hey atleast she'll know your passionate about riding.
what does the undersuit do? provides more breathability? does it also allow the outer layer to "slide" around your body better and not "stick"/friction to your skin when sliding?
@@shivpalpatine It does nothing to protect you but it feels much more comfortable and you don't feel as hot/cold with a good one.Think about wearing your shoes without socks, and with socks. That's the difference :)
My Rev'it suit flows a tonne of air. Much like the sportbike, it gets hot if you aren't moving. Can be worn on the street but I suggest a light hoodie over top if you don't want every Toyota Corolla try to race you. Huge hint, don't let good equipment make up for your lack of skill.
Yes, there its texas and non perforated leather will boil you, but, here its PNW where 50° is amazing riding weather and it rains all year the gear game is wildly different.
I used to work for BMW UK in the warehouse, every year they would sell off ex display jackets and trousers returned by dealers when they re-stocked. I got Savanna 2 jacket for £40 a Tourance leather jacket for £50 and a nappa leather jacket for £30 because the removeable collar and some pulled stitches I also got a Full Gore Tex winter jacket and two summer textile jackets so the lot for just over £200, that was over 15 years ago and I still wear them apart from the textile summer jacket which no longer fitted. They stopped doing the staff sales a couple of years later and allowed the dealers to sell them off discounted but not at the prices I paid. I did check the new prices of some of them and basically I paid less than 10% of the retail price and the £30 jacket cost over £700 at the time.
A bit of advice from a long time rider. You can usually find leather jackets at pawn shops for good prices. Be knowledgeable between the differences of fashion weight leather and motorcycle weight. You can find some pretty good deals if you put in a little effort. Good option for beginners on a budget.
I do wear "fashion leather" when I am on motorcycle and weather is cool but it is always on top of modern textile, aramid lined and D3O armored Richa hoodie/shirt which I wear ALWAYS when riding. But even the leather jacket is good, it is an oldschool "Marlon Brando" 1950s style motorcycle jacket made from very thick and heavy leather. While it is not armored itself but combined with the armored and aramid lined shirt I do feel very safe wearing it. Thick leather is still thick leather and provides good abrasion resistance but if it fails there is still the textile, aramid lining and D3O armor layers before my skin. Layered armor. 👍
As much as I appreciate the concealed carry pocket, I prefer my inside the waistband holster and yes, you should carry and ride you should carry literally all the time why? Because this is America and you should

It's sad to see people waffling on 2A and carrying. Really sad. Stop waffling, just don't mention it if you're a) worried about offending the left, or b) you are the left and you might offend the right. It's just not worth it. Stick to motorcycles
Great video, I have an RST jacket for summer, got it in a sale for £85.00 reduced from 145. Last year's stock and new stock in shop so if the latest doesn't bothered you look out for old stock in your local dealers. I have a proper leather jacket for winter. Again got it at a bike show we're a dealers were selling off old stock. £150 down from 250. Deals are out there if you look. Better going to dealership where you can see the quality and check out the fit. Summer jacket can be neat, winter go larger to allow for layers. Enjoy your bikes and keep ot between the hedges.
I got lucky when I started riding, there was a shop nearby for gear, and the people there helped me get what I NEEDED and not anything excessive and fancy.
Wilson Leather Road Armor w full zip in insulation w vents and reinforced elbow and shoulders... at the Tangiers Outlet for $170. and I hit the pavement going 70 and the jacket came out with a few abrasions, but virtually undamaged. Still wear it ... Kevlar Lined SS Dogs of War pants $150 (2 pair) So I like a blend of both Leathers and Textile...
Just have to throw this in there, I had a Harley vest on when I was cut off and flew when doing 55mph, I had a Harley vest on and it protected my tailbone/ back and shoulders which took most of the hit and sliding. I have some road rash on my arms but nothing around my body. Cant say the same about my legs I ended up breaking one.
crashed doing about 15-20 mph and the only gear I had on was helmet and gloves. Wish I had my jacket and a waist protector on cause the hip smacked hard. Gloves really saved my hands but they were still sore af for months after, probably had some small fractures. Going to wear my gear from now on.
So I decided do a shot every time Spite says "fashion leather" in this video. LOL But this is actually one of my pet peeves, when you see a rider in some vinyl "motorcycle styled" jacket from TJ Maxx, that is clearly not designed to be worn while riding an actual motorcycle. The giveaways are always the sleeves riding up and the back of the jacket up around their shoulders flapping in the wind! Not to hate on the women riders, but it's usually them rocking this fail, because they simply don't make a lot of cool moto gear for women. It seems to mostly just be retooled men's stuff - in HOT PINK. Who wants to wear that? Now there's a niche for somebody out there! Make cool looking, stylish, but safe and practical moto gear for women - with real women's bodies! Because I know women want to be safe and look bad-a$$ when they ride too?
Excellent video as usual. I've been a fan for years and bought a motorcycle a while ago because of this channel! You guys should make a video on comparing airbag technology. It's a new type of tech usable on the street and track and it would be nice to see you guys compare maybe 2 or 3 of them side by side.
When I was riding, in the 60s, my street wear was the same as my riding wear, usually jeans and T-shirt. Helmets were not yet required, and I seldom wore one. I had a motorcycle for transportation NOT for racing. I spun out once in the rain and ground the pocket of my left rump. I also got some brush burns on my hands. In seven years on my bike, that was my only accident, not counting off-road spills while fooling around. My experience has taught me that the most effective protection you have, lies between your ears. I'm moving to Tucson this summer and, after 50 years, thinking of getting a bike again. I'm not crazy about leather and do not plan to do any touring. Your textile suggestions seem to be both prudent and reasonable. I'll give them consideration.
Go to your local Cycle Gear and try on a bunch of jackets and narrow down your fit preference. Personally I like my jackets on the snug side so the shoulder and elbow armor doesn't move around. try on different jackets and stick your arms out to mimic your riding position. You don't want the jacket to restrict any movement while you're riding. I recommend mesh for summer and leather for winter. You can wear leather in the summer, just make sure you find one that has vents to flow air because it will get HOT. A lot of jackets come with shoulder and elbow pads but not all will come with a C.E. rated back protector (it's usually a foam pad to mimic the feel of a back protector) so make sure you upgrade that
My Old Milwakee leather jacket of the last 17 years now distressed. My zippers have oxizided. Vents are good. No padding but thick leather. Concealed pockets and a terrific liner. It was $200 at the time. Have a Cortex Demin Jacket with armor my SPRING jacket. Also a liner if needed. Both are old but good standard jackets.
Excellent video. In my early years before armor I wore Carhart bibs and a leather jacket. Your right shop around for the best jacket, you don't have to waste your money on Harley stuff. The only thing I go High dollar on is my Helmet. I love my shoei qwest. Very safe and quiet. I wish they still made them.
Another way you can tell whether a Jacket is Fashion Leather or Motorcycle Leather is the Weight, a Motorcycle Leather Jacket is pretty heavy (the one I currently own is about 12 lbs. or 5.44 kg for those of you that use Metric)
@@sus8e462 Not in the same way. A more expensive phone will have more features, faster processing, better reception... It's better at being a phone than the cheap ones, & depending on what you use your phone for, you may legitimately need some of that extra functionality. Whereas with motorcycle gear, all the safety stuff is held to a regulated standard, regardless of price, & most luxury features are pretty cheap to produce, so more expensive gear is more often going to be gimmicky, or just a brand name, rather than actually doing its job any better.
After about 350ish dollars, youre paying more for features rather than safety, assuming of course youre looking within the same market and not like full body tracksuits.
Thank you for the reminder that I need to order a new set of armour for my beloved (and aging) Joe Rocket leather jacket. The original stuff crumbled apart after about 6 or 7 years and I've never got around to replacing it because I haven't been riding much.
Great content! Keep it up y’all!! Just moved on to a 15 gsxr 1000 after having 2 750s and a head gasket failure, dealership threw in a tank top, sandals and pair of oakleys! 😂😂
Bought the Icon Sanctuary hybrid leather/textile jacket when I started riding years ago. Still have it and it's been great, but it is very heavy and a bit chilly for colder temps (has vents that can't close and the removable inner thermal liner while nice, is a bit lacking). As such I've been looking for a more versatile and lighter jacket. I've settled on the Revit Sand 4. A nice ADV/touring jacket with plenty of protection, features, and vents to still keep cool in the summer but more importantly can close them when the temperatures start to drop to help keep warm. It's also a good bit lighter than my old Icon jacket, which I'll still keep around, as well as has a better thermal liner for keeping warm when needed. The only negative is that it's not a cheap jacket, but with some shopping around was able to get a fair deal on it.
I have an interstate leather jacket I bought circa 2005. I've went down in it twice. I quit wearing it this year because my wife's dog ate the right rib cage out of the jacket... Leather last...
Started with the official noob jacket, Tourmaster Intake Air 4, great jacket, lots of options like rain liner and cold weather liner, but when you take out the lining in hot weather, the armor sags and moves out of place. Living in SoCal, it's hot alot so eventually had to get a jacket with single purpose just so the armor wouldn't move.
I got a motonation perf leather jacket with a full suite of padding, pre-curved arms, 2-piece compatibility and as thick as my dads old Frank Thomas leathers, got it 1/2 off for $150. Great deals are there.
Living in Texas as well, I wear the BILT Amped Jacket. Super breathable with very good protection all around. Love the videos and have made me a better rider.
I almost always ride with my full gear, including a 2 piece leather dainese which you can zip together, boots ans gloves and I love it, it’s not too hot where I live and it gets windy, my leathers protect me against the weather and gives me more confidence in my riding
A concealed carry pocket? I'll be honest my knee jerk reaction is that landing on a square hunk a metal during a fall is begging for cracked ribs. If someone really wants to that's up to them but think I'll pass.
I have two jackets. The first is a Tourmaster 3. It's a great jacket for all seasons. The base part is Kevlar lined with pads and mesh for lots of airflow on hot days. However it also has a rainproof shell that zips to it and an inner liner for warmth. It's the one I usually take motocamping because it's so versatile. The second is a leather motorcycle jacket. It has pockets for a back pad and elbow pads (which I still need to get though I could take them from my first jacket). This is kind of my everyday commuter jacket. Great in spring and fall. Okay in cold. Decent rain protection for commuting. Not so great when it's hot. Looks stylish.
Thank you man, am just getting into bikes and this video helped a lot actually. Just bought the one you have. Love the look, and your recommendation is all I needed. Cant' wait to get it!
Went down in my tourmaster jacket 10 years ago, only a slight scuff on the shoulder where I went for a 20 ft slide. I swear by a good gear. My LH went down in his tourmaster jacket, Kevlar jeans, leather boots, etc, no road rash.

Man i hit the jacket jackpot, i found a chap who moves gear that is no longer wanted, custom made black leather with some red leather strips over the shoulders, like i cant afford this thing new , it would cost me at least 10k in rands, theres a small scrape on the elbow, zipped sleeves, random zipped vents, For sale 500 bucks, i guesstimated the size from the couch it lay on on the photos, fits like a glove.
I ride between Kentucky and Ohio all year round and it's about 20° cooler on a bike. 90% of the reason I want leather is wind protection. Just something to keep in mind for the next video... Most of us dont live in north mexico and we're freezing our asses off. We're buying jackets cuz we're cold af. Try not to sell wind protection and warmth as a negative quality lol
Just bought a jacket from ride rich, 350$ gets you a nice jacket that breathes is waterproof and has all the armor pockets and Kevlar, I’m fan of Kevlar anything for riding because you can still wear MOST Kevlar gear on a warmer day and be fine
A difference you didn't note for fashion leather is that motorcycle leathers are made using treatments to enhance durability, and are specific leather types that are most durable
FortNine recently put out a video explaining why armor really isn't going to do much, and decided to remove it from his jackets. He used crash data that the manufacturers that make it use - it is pretty much useless.
I have probably the only “fashion” jacket that can be worn on a bike. A Schott. The leather is thick and well made. But no padding. I’ve had issues with padding calling shoulder pain, so I dunno. The leather will work though!
Old saying.. "Dress for the slide, not for the ride." I hope the channel dose a video also on what is a good street glove vs. what they call a motorcycle glove that has almost no protection.
I got a pretty badass leather jacket from Barney’s for $230.00 The brand is Z1R. It looks really sic with my new 2022 XSR900 and the best part is that it has conceal carry pockets on the inside right and left.
I have a speed and strength jacket. Has some shoulder, back and elbow armor as well as a removable hoodie. I like it. I still have my leather jacket from when I rode in 2007. Still in decent shape but some of the stitching is coming apart especially in the back near the neck
When I brought my first bike a Lil over a year ago, the seller gave me his Astars leather jacket with itas he wouldn't be needing it anymore Huge W I think
I wouldn’t bother with anything made of sheepskin as it has the tear strength of tissue paper regardless of how it is sewn up. In Europe if you are selling anything as motorcycle gear it has to be CE tested and certified the only fly in the ointment is there is a lot of fake gear on the internet.

I see your usual cruiser crowd that pull into shopping malls.. It takes them 15 minutes to take off their gear down to their vests. When they come back 20 minutes to suit up, 5 minutes to make sure they got everything. 10 minutes waiting for their partners. Partners take another 15 -20 minutes get ready. Finally mount the bikes and light em up.....a moment of reflection, get helmet mounted go cam activated and then one by one file out.
Most "GENUINE LEATHER" fashion jackets aren't even leather. It's a paper thin veneer over cloth hence the light weight he mentioned and will hold up like bread in a slide
You offer some really good gear on the shop site, but with warm weather returning, maybe consider adding some mesh gear to the lineup. Have you searched for mesh gear in the big name brands? Some of it is completely off the market right now regardless of the price point. If you could fill that niche, you'd make a killing.
1 thing you didn't mention, but I always look for - a single piece back. I beyond hate the seam down the middle as they will leak water eventually, and the threads also pull apart.
Friggin pain in the arse for a bigger rider like myself to find gear, especially if you don't live in a bigger city where you have a physical shop to try things on and will stock larger sizes. It's like trying to hit the lottery ordering something online and expecting it to fit.

Yeah I was pretty confused why he didn't mention CE slide ratings. It just seems like a pointless omission.
i got a Helite airbag vest. looks like a club cut. expensive, yes, but cracked ribs cost more. in case of inflation it'll protect your neck provided you're wearing a full face helmet.i highly recommend
Cracked ribs are free... No treatment, just a bit sore!

The “armed response pocket” is so necessary…conceal the sandwiches…also good for walkets, cellphone, side chicks number…
Those gun pockets always make me laugh... my Heroic riding hoodie has them... if you have any expirience with firearms you know if you put the G19 it says it's sized for in there... it would take you minutes to draw... lol
@@CRGmotors it would be quicker to just ride away, then draw…but that’s just me..lol
But are they safe?
@@sethlozeau2962 Almost. I can see it from across the strait. 😁 Happy riding, keep the shiny side up, and mostly dry. 👍
Playing this at 1,25 and comfortably learning. Thank you Yam!
Not just harley.
The Schott Perfecto is the ultimate. My son now wears the one I bought in 1979.
@@slept-on_SP what do you need girls for? You have a bike ffs!
what does the undersuit do? provides more breathability?
does it also allow the outer layer to "slide" around your body better and not "stick"/friction to your skin when sliding?

I don't agree with everything you said, but I do agree on the waistband holster.
All the memories and happiness in your jacket surely increase it's value.
Oh and get a good leather cream to keep it in prime condition.

The concealed carry area is a great addition. What's the problem?
You tricked me by putting the fashion jacket on the Alpine Star hanger... very clever...
Because I know women want to be safe and look bad-a$$ when they ride too?
do yourself a favour and skip until 4:51 where the video begins properly
Looks like the website stopped selling riding gear.
A lot of jackets come with shoulder and elbow pads but not all will come with a C.E. rated back protector (it's usually a foam pad to mimic the feel of a back protector) so make sure you upgrade that
Fashion leather usually isn't actually leather. Its usually very thin vinyl with a leather texture.
Textile jackets with the right padding is all I use in warm climates. They're comfortable and can hold all the safety inserts I need.
Gotta start looking for some riding gear! Signed up for msf classes in a couple months so I can start riding this year!
Next time, please mention the CE ratings and their protection differences (A vs AA vs AAA)
Another way you can tell whether a Jacket is Fashion Leather or Motorcycle Leather is the Weight, a Motorcycle Leather Jacket is pretty heavy (the one I currently own is about 12 lbs. or 5.44 kg for those of you that use Metric)
Really interesting how with motorcycle gear, more expensive doesn't usually mean better/safer.
True for any product--stick a designer name on it & price goes up exponentially faster than quality.

Foxcreek and Schott make GREAT leather jackets....especially the ones that are 1.4 to 1.6 mm......
I am required to carry when off duty lol so the jacket works 😂 thank you sir Spite!!!!

Started with the official noob jacket, Tourmaster Intake Air 4, great jacket, lots of options like rain liner and cold weather liner, but when you take out the lining in hot weather, the armor sags and moves out of place.
