BEFORE YOU TRY THIS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HOT SWAP SWITCHES. It is very possible to break your keyboard, so make sure to find out your keyboard. I am sorry to anyone who has hurt/broken their keyboard. ALSO IF YOU ARE TRYING THIS, TRY ON A SWITCH YOU DONT USE VERY OFTEN!
Bro I desoldered... And you btw used the switch puller In the wrong direction... It's north and south and not west and east

@@sniper777cobra3 you take it apart and look if the switches are soldered directly, alternatively you can just look online if its hotswap

pro tip: make sure you actually use a screwdriver, and actually be GENTLE. i thought “it’s alright it can take a hit” and instantly regret it. it was also the CTRL key.

I'm about to try, I'm having a little issue finding if its hotswapable. I wanna clean it and I wanna know if I can customize the switches. Its being compared to a similar budget board that has removable switches so signs questionably point to yes lol.

Thanks for this video Finn! I'm getting a soldering iron and desoldering pump today and some other stuff for that. The problem is, the switch puller's tracking is delayed so I needed a method to pull out the switch without a switch puller. Also I would maybe clarify that it would be easier to have a hot swappable board but can be done with a desoldering iron if you don't have a hotswappable pcb. Anyways, thanks for this video, this will help out my future self

Thank you soo much, I didnt need to get new switches. My "w key" was broken and I used a spoon to try and remove the switch and when I put everything back it started working.

Yea oh I just lubed my cherry mx blues with Vaseline I know it sounds weird but they sound very good almost like pandas
Perfect, thanks! I have an old broken keyboard using the same switches as my current one and one of its keys got stuck down. Upon removing the keycap, the switch is bent and damaged. Now I can recycle a switch from my old keyboard to fix it.

Thanks a lot you saved my WIN key :) I think the tool didn't come as it should (or I lost it, same probably as some alt colors switch replacements) so I got the switch out and applied some contact fluid and away it goes!

so was grinding on fortnite and one of my keys stopped working this had happened before so i knew what i had to do but i had no key remover to remove the switches tysm
I really don't understand how to use the screw driver I ligit used all my strength and it still wouldn't come out (yes ik they said to be gentle but it wouldn't even budge) and my keyboard came with replace ment switches but I lost the puller that came with it it this is my only free option and its giving me a hard tine any tips?
the intro is insane
you can try this with a protractor since it kind of works you just need to wiggle down the edge of the protractor into the bottom of the switch and slowly push up and do it on the other side a few times until you think its loose and you can just plop it right out.
I suppose you could use the corner of it if you can get it under the switch

The switch remover tool that came with mine is useless and even bend the plastic of the switch iam grateful i found this video..
Honestly i used the handle of a fork u can also use the handle of a spoon( make sure they are flat and not round) or a dull knife if u dont wanna use anything else or u have the tool (fingers also work)

how do u know if it is how swap?
if u use a screw driver dont put it at the corner of the switch put it in the middle where there is a little pin thing to push in to get out the switch easier

@@Finnovation_Create i did find out it is but sadly i couldnt fix the key i think the letter just doesnt work nothing wrong with the switch it just wont respond on 1 letter the rest is good though

That... your own fault. If your keyboard isn’t hot-swappable then don’t do it. He even mentions that not all keyboards will work.

I'm sure you've learned this by now since this is a 2 year old video...
But you should position the switch puller 90 degrees from what you now have!
The switch puller has those feet sticking out to push-in the clips of the switch that are located on the top and bottom of the switch.
Then you shouldn't even have to use any force! :}

Maybe if it was a butter knife, don’t break your switches though…
Sorry mate with the screwdriver method at the start mine has an upper lip so I can’t wiggle me screwdriver underneath all the way round

If your keyboard isn’t hot swap then unfortunately you can not remove switches without desoldering! Look up how to desolder a keyboard!

I’m not sure about that. I suppose in theory it is possible. But I would be very careful not to break your switches, I would definitely try to find a screwdriver.
@@Finnovation_Create is because I use a keyboard for the ps4 to play minecraft with and I'm trying to make a custom keyboard with paint so and I don't have any of those at home. If u want you can make a video of how to take it out with home tools if you want it cloud help me and any people if they don't have any of those things

Yes you can! Do you know if your board is hot swapable or soldered? If it is hotswap you can order like 10 switches on Amazon for 5$!
