That was the most non-dramatic acceleration to 11mph that I have ever seen in my life.
yeah my ninebot max goes faster than that at takeoff and i can carry way more stuff
With the title I had some expectations. After gushing over the thing, blah, blah, then we FINALLY get to 11mph, at the half-way point of the video. Fail. That's as far as I watched. Using basic arithmetic I've projected that at the end of the video this thing will be topped out at 18mph. You know, another four runs, each "unlocking" another level of performance, lots of yadda, yadda in-between, 2mph increases each time. Puhleeez, just get to the point instead of wasting my ears....
@@peedee4065 must be pretty bad at basic arithmetic considering you were off by 12
I can run faster
@@shadmage3762 Lol. Wait? Does the speed even drop at the end of the video?!!! Down to 6mph? Pitiful! Just hang the thing on the wall of a cafe and be done with it!
I love ebikes, I’ve owned a few since 2013, and put over 3,500 miles on one in 2020. I’m only commenting to encourage everyone to wear a helmet. I was in an accident last month, I probably wouldn’t have survived if I didn’t protect my head. Please, always wear a helmet.
I've also had a crash that i wouldn't have survived without a helmet. I got merged onto by a car. You can't avoid all crashes with skill, and I'm a skilled mountain biker. Riding without a helmet is just stupid. If you're going to spend thousands on a bike, spend $150 on a great helmet
Yep get it for sure. It will save your life! And if you are worried about the looks, get a Thousand helmet. It is reasonably priced and goes nicely with this bike.
Im glad you're okay!!!
Do you wear a helmet when you go running? Some humans can sprint over 20 mph which is much faster than a casual cyclist travelling to meet a friend.
@@savvageorge at this current time in the US, cars and bikes often occupy the same space, whereas a runner is not typically on the road. It’s not the bike or running that’s dangerous, it’s the 4,000lbs of metal that move at 30+mph that create the deadly forces.
For everyone complaining about the top speed, you need to remember that on many/most places, you can ride these e-bikes on bike lanes. But you must use pedal-assist and stay below a certain mph. Used that way, they are a better option than a motorcycle or even a motor scooter.
Some people may be surprised how often I get to admire, Porches, Vettes, and even Maseratis as I speed past them, cause I'm not stuck in city traffic.🤣
You don't WANT to go more than 25 in something like this. Let's get real. It's pretty unsafe even to go 25, given the design. You want to use bicycle trails/infrastructure and those are often designed with turns that you have to take really slow :/ If you need to go motorcycle/car speeds, you need to get an actual motorcycle because it's built for keeping up with car traffic. Also quite dangerous.
There is no way that this bike legally doesn't require licensing and insuranxe in the area you are riding.
@@normanbfifteen3468 ya, quite a few states limit you to 20 mph and he actually went over 32, I believe it'll go faster and he was trying not to get into trouble.🤣
@@normanbfifteen3468 you don't need a license if you don't get caught going much over 20.🤣
My wife uses a cargo ebike to commute between work and home every day, and it covers the 7 mile distance in about 20 minutes. It really moves, and it carries everything she needs.
Which bike does she have? If you don’t mind me asking
@@Shana_Fana87 My guess is the RadWagon.
I was kinda wanting a good Cargo E-bike, but just found out about a RadBurro. And OMG I fucking want 1. It's basically a cross between an E-bike and a truck. It's got 3 different styles you can choose from, a box, a flatbed, and a Rickshaw. It's 5500 but it's got straight up motorcycle grade components as it's more root commercial use. But has 50-100 mile range.
You could do that with a regular bike, just don't be fat.
@@asmith9554 I hate to say it but are you a little bit dumb? The average person can get a bike 12-18mph on a flat road and no baggage and 7 miles in 20 minutes is over 20mph which includes hills aswell as the extra weight and a couple stops if she's in a town
"Fothermucker"
That's a new one [to me], lol. Gotta write that down.
@Underwater 69's Lmao 🤣
Love it but dang 4000?!? You can buy a whole ass 800cc motorcycle for that price
I know. That and you can probably go at least 5 times as fast.
4k is a decent bike too I paid 2500 for my ninja 250 so I wouldint be surprised if u can get a used 600 for that
It might be marketed for people who could use it to take bike trails to work rather then a main road cut through a big park or somthing idk I wanna say maybe a young teen but they would have to have a pretty wealthy parent to buy a 4k bike
Suppose it's good for someone who doesn't have a licence or has been recently banned from driving. Plus you wouldn't need insurance to ride it which is a saving
I could buy 2x of my 929cc bikes for that😂
eBikes in general are still way overpriced
Dude was blowing through stop signs lmao
Nice speed and it seems to handle well. I always worry that the bike will get hard to control at higher speeds but this one seems smooth and steady.
You need to take motorcycle riding course to handle bike at high speeds
For that much $ it should have a gear shift detector so it automatically backs power off during gear change. Many mid drive bikes have this feature.
shift detectors kinda suck. I removed mine since I can shift a lot quicker without it.

They really need to bring the price down on this stuff.
I agree, it would encourage more people. But this bike was intended to be a "top of the line" e-bike with a bunch of bits and bobs that increase the price a lot. There are a lot more inexpensive and effective e-bikes out there.

@@TheInja Even if you weren't prepared you still did a great job , sharing you're opinion. :)
the top speed of 30 mph is decent for the city, similar to what a scooter could do.
But the acceleration seems lacking, it needed quite a bit of time to go from 20 to 28 mph..
My scooter does 45 + mph
Oh man, that’s a lovely aesthetic. I would adore something like this aesthetically and practically, but for that price it’ll remain a niche luxury product. If nothing else because I could _not_ afford to replace it when it inevitably gets stolen.
4000$ buy you a proper, new, motorcycle that goes at least 6 times faster.
This is true
But I think you miss the point of an ebike.
As of now 2021 in most places you don't need a license. You don't need to register it. You don't need insurance.
That will change soon enough but for now it can be a great alternative to a car.
Not a replacement for a car but its fun to ride to the taco truck.
You can save gas and wear and tear on your car.
@@PM-qp5he I refuse to get a driver's license I don't wanna work hard to study fuck the government I ain't gonna get my driver's license but I'm still gonna get a motorcycle

@@PM-qp5he But who is dumb enough to spend 4000 dollars. Just for E-Bike? Not me that's for sure I'd rather buy 500 dollar E-bike that can let me ride upto 20 30 miles. And I'm not talking mph that's different 20-30 miles. Into different towns and cities and back and forth.
And that's more then enough for your average person unless your a long distance cyclists or work to places longer than that. Then I suggest you buy a cheap car or use bus or taxi or even train.
But that's just going to cost you a lot more money so I suggest you get any E-bike. I prefer Electric mountain bike. That's suitable to ride on all terrain no matter what the weather throws at you!

I really kinda love that this has basically become the new moped. Strong E-bikes that are practically little motorcycles.

Not. 2hp is not a motorcycle.
@@tarstarkusz didn't call it one.
@@tarstarkusz not this one for sure but there’s some set ups pushing 2hp/ 170ft lb. More than enough to keep up in the twisties lol
@@NightKidBrandon It's a(legal) tautology, at least in my state, that anything more than 1hp is not an e-bike. E-bicycles are limited by state law (PA) to 1hp or 750 watts. But this is kind of BS because electric motors do not work like that. A 750 watt motor can easily generate double that because of nominal vs peak. Still, 2hp really is not enough to be a motorcycle. The smallest true motorcycles generate way more power than that.
Love the Doug intro there! Great Video!
That is AWESOME!! Thank you for sharing
There's a lot going with this e-bike. It's an attractive bike with a mix of avant garde and the retro style of an early 1900's Indian motorcycle. Great vibe. It is an expensive e-bike when compared to say a $2,999 Grizzly from Ariel Rider. Then again, comparing it to any other e-bike has to begin with looks and that's why this bike is so impressive.
Fathermucker...?😂😂😂🤣
Haven't heard that one before...😂
Beautiful bike man, very nicely built and it shows that you've built it with that extra little attention to detail magic into it.
I love that It's not mass produced money grabbing.
Would love to buy one of these, but I'm in the UK.
Regarding a few other comments - It's more about the style and quality of the bikes finished build, and also the rider getting used to riding it..!
I would proudly own this ebike even if it was a slightly slower alternative to other ebikes, which it's actually perfect for it's style anyway. I think he was just getting used to the gear changing and the bikes shape. Also the fact that it belongs to someone else, he's just being respectfully careful I think.!!
Will be checking out your link, thanks for the video man. It's a style of bike I've always liked, something special.!! Thanks

I have the exact same control and display screen on my own Bafang powered electric bike. When you were testing your bike on motor only, I noticed that you were in the lowest assist setting of one. The assist level actually goes up to five. And, in this highest setting, there is a marked increase in power and acceleration in the 'motor only' mode.
Hi Andrew. I ride an 'unlocked ' Ultra, max power is always available via throttle.
I used to ride a 400lb, 100bhp sports tourer into work every day. Often averaged less than 10mph due to heavy traffic even with lots of filtering. Peak speed was rarely over 30mph. This little ebike would have served me well for 5 days out of 7.
With our Brisbane peak hour traffic the bicycles just cruise on past us a ebike is now a real possibility just Australia laws keep us to 250 watt motors I’m no feather weight.
😂”Further mucker” I’m using that one
That is one beautiful machine!
I love the way he leaned foward like he was actually going fast 😅

@@madhatten00 think its the other way around, that you don't realise how fast are actually going in a car/ motorbike. 100kph is actually really fast even though it feels slow on a 50 metre wide motorway
That intro startled me. For a sec there I thought Doug Demuro changed face (and wardrobe).
That's a beautiful Bike love the handle bars.
So it's parts are all upgraded but the chain with break if you go to hard on the throttle. Sounds really good quality.
If you can find it in stock. You can get a 3000 watt cyclone mid drive starting at $350 (depending on options). Add that cost to a new bike, some batteries, and a little elbow grease and mechanical skill you could build yourself something thats about 1/4th the cost with twice the power. $4500 for something that is still somewhere between a novelty and practical simply isnt worth it for that price.
This ebike is super clean looking with a great motor too. Cheers.
The power of the RUclips thumbnail will never cease to amaze me. All you have to do is slightly blur the background and BAM the human brain completes the rest stating, “this blur and the title of the video means this thing is insanely fast! I must see it!”

My neighbor regularly spends $4,000 on regular pedal bikes. A few for the trail, and a few skinny-tire road racers, like your typical Lance Armstrong bikes. I think he has five or six of them. I'd rather have any of these fat tire e-bikes. This cafe racer is cool, but any of the beefy, decent quality ones I'd take any day. I live in Appalachia so, anywhere you go is nine miles up hill both ways. I quit bikes thirty years ago when I got my drivers license, and it would be cool to get into the woods without worrying about plates, gas, cops, insurance, and we can't ride anything with a gas motor on the road here to get to the trails, you need a pick-up or a trailer. So, these e-bikes are super attractive to me, even if it's not the top-of-the-line.
