I was 25 when I first heard this. I was sitting on the couch in my girlfriend's apartment in Astoria NY. I looked at Linda and screamed OMG, who is this?! "First Choice" she said. We went out and bought the album that afternoon. BTW: i'm a youthful 75 now, and still shakin' it!
@@divinetiming1005 It was hard to keep up with all the new dance clubs opening all over the city: Infinity, 12 West, Sanctuary, NY NY, Machine, Inferno...I can't remember even half of them.
Norman Harris arrangement, with members of MFSB. The ladies eventually signed with Baker, Harris and Young. Then did such tunes as Doctor Love and Let No Man Put Asunder.
@@Larryshereable love your comments did you ever get recordings of the dj from the dj at Sanctuary Francis Grasso would love to talk to you about it Thanks
Al.....who????? First Choice......and that superb orch. cleaned the slate!!! Without that orch. it wud hv been a remake, but as it stands, they wiped Al Green off the charts!!!
This is my 2nd best version of this song after Al Green. I've been listening to these ladies since '73 a year before I left home, they can do NO WRONG in my book!
Although Al Green had the bigger hit with this song, I personally think that First Choice knocked it out of the park. I really enjoyed Al Green's version, but I LOVED First Coice's version alot more.
There were tons of clubs around when this popped out after their first hit-"Armed and Extremely Dangerous." "Smarty Pants" They were 18 year old clubs, some, you got a stamp if you were 21 or 18, Catch 1, Gino's, Outer Limits in LA-Great Taste! Jukeboxes disappeared, and live DJS (like me) spun on 2 turn tables with as pitch control. This song (and "Newsy neighbors") was the Bomb for these Ladies, and they just kept on giving us material for over 20 years! Our platform shoes were so high, it was perfect to just dance in one place and groove to it along with our arms! Giving Vogue waaaaay before Madonna's song LOVE IT!
Shia-ite!!! All te Aretha Franklin version of "Love and Happiness have been deleted for one no-good reason or another. Hell, I had this next to the Al Green original! These "copy-wright mongers" are beyondmaddening!!!

"Make you stay all night long."
