- Long Train Blocks Crossings After Stopping For Truck & Car Drives Wrong Way On One Way Street Next To Train! A 2+ Mile Long Train Dropped Its Air & Applied The Brakes Because They Didn't Know If The Truck Was Going To Stop On The Railroad Crossing. Crossings were blocked for a long time while the train took the first dozen or so cars to a nearby railroad yard and then came back for the rest of the train. Other trains passed the stopped train on the second mainline including a CSX local switching freight train with a manned locomotive on the rear. These trains are in Hamilton, Ohio on the ex Baltimore And Ohio Railroad mainline that is owned by CSX and shared by Norfolk Southern and Amtrak trains. The long 2+ mile long CSX freight train was going through town slowly and I could smell the brakes being applied. Near the end of the train the air suddenly dropped and the train came to a stop. You can hear the air drop in the video just a few cars before the end of train passes me. Cars were turning around to go different routes but one truck stuck it out and watched as the other trains passed through. Maybe he was a Railfan? Lol

To a railfan, this is true entertainment. To anyone trying to get somewhere on the other side of the track, it's a big pain in the posterior.

Its even better entertainment to watch the runners lol

The Gondola car full of scrap metal jogged my memory. Years ago a Sears store in the Cincinnati area experienced a higher than normal Craftsman tool returns. They tracked that stuff and this store was 5 times higher than other Sears stores. Turns out there were 2 Gondola Cars full of broken Craftsman tools waiting to be melted down and the Foundry workers were snagging the broken tools and turning them in for new under the Craftsman warranty. A lot of 3/4 and 1in. drive stuff that costs a lot more the 3/8th in.
Love them videos. Thanks.
Great story, thank you!
Kudos to the biker at 19 minutes who got off his bicycle and walked thru the crossing but waiting until bars went up.
Yeah--the Sheriff was right there as well!
I agree! Hope for the future.
You should always wait until the gates go up with a multi-track crossing because there might be a train on the other track.
Moving any building is a major pain in the butt. Might not do it , until summer. Check with the city historical society or chamber of commerce to see about finding out about the move.
Especially a brick building.
Wow there is actually a kid on a bicycle who has the common sense to wait until the crossing gates go up? I'd love to congratulate the kid's parents for teaching and raising the kid right!
Yeah if you look back in some of the comments 5-10 minutes ago I said praise the parents
I don't know if anyone else noticed but at, 1:26 you can see someone down the tracks run in front of the train. People need to be more careful that was bold of him to do that.
Saw that too! Just crazy that people will risk their lives to save themselves a couple seconds of waiting!!
just noticed that lol
It wasn't bold: it was stupid. Especially when he could easily see that the train was only a few cars long.

Back in 1999 and into the 2001 I used to work at the KCKS/KCMO rail yard fueling the UP train engines, both the road and switch engines because they didn’t have a roundhouse. My most memorable train was the IDULA running from KS to LA. She was so long that she had 5 lead engines and 3 DPU’s. Best job I ever had, I regret leaving that job everyday. Thank you for the memories
With regard to the one way street, wrong way drivers, just from the view of the intersection, the street is not properly marked/posted. Speaking from a retired PA police officer standpoint, the city of Hamilton could face precarious liability for that should someone die from a crash.
Only if there is a one way street sign at the other side (entering side) cause then they forgot to place a proper sign , otherwise it is a small two way street.
@@RS-Amsterdam in the intersection where he watched the train dump the air, he pans the camera back and forth to both sides of it, and at least I see no one way street signs. Especially on the side opposite of him where you see a car enter and drive away from JT when he comments on going the wrong way.
@@Nareimooncatt As someone who lived in Hamilton, yes that is a two way street.
I noticed that there didn't seem to be any "one way" sign at the corner where people were turning onto that street. There should also be a "Do Not Enter" (or red circle with a slash) sign at that intersection, clearly visible to anyone wanting to turn onto the street. You can hardly blame the drivers if it's not signed properly.
@@bootsdocsandconspiracies6589 He could be going by which way the signs and parked cars are pointing. Looked to me that only one side had a stop sign. I've done the same when I've been in an area where the one-way streets are not clearly marked, especially when leaving a parking lot with an entrance on a different side of the block.
Great Video, Brian. Love the way you go out of your way to get footage in lots of different locations. Always a pleasure. Thanks for posting, and keep up the sterling work.
I sure will as long as I have viewers. Lol. Thanks for watching !
Cool to see how the crossing lights faded in and out! I guess the refresh rate. Funny how well Chessie blended into the gravel as well!! Thanks!!
Thanks for explaining what those covers were on for, sometimes there’s cars that I don’t recognize and no one explains what they are , thanks for doing so , very helpful.
Yes, but, I believe those covers are a safety measure - in case the binding/strapping on the coils fails or in case of an accident the covers prevent the steel from un-coiling and causing or complicating an accident. Out of the weather may indeed be a benefit, but safety is the #1 motivator.
@@tokugawa12able No, nothing to do with safety. There's no reason that a coil would unroll -- they're secured by bands and, even if one did start to unroll, the weight of the thing would stop more than the first layer coming off. The covers are purely to protect the steel from rain.
@Megan If you want to know what something is for, just ask in the comments -- plenty of people will be happy to answer.
@@beeble2003 thank you for that.
Bet the guy in the truck said "You gotta be sh*ttin me", when the train stopped where it did.
Great video JT!👍👍💪
Probably Lol
A lot of live action in this one. Train goes into emergency because of a truck accident at a railway crossing. Cars going the wrong way on a one way street. People getting impatient at the stopped train, and still waiting for the city to move that RR station. Hamilton is the place to be for live action. Holy crap. Thanks for documenting all this incredible action JT.
Your pretty awesome.👍🏼
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo pour très bien finir cette semaine ! ✨✨✨✨👍Thank you very much! 🙏
Back in my driving days i bet i drove over all of these tracks you keep finding in the area. oldster74 now... the VA doesn't even like me to drive at all now if possible. I even found my Cincinnati map from my map bag so i can track your wonderings.

I’m going on a Jaw Tooth tirade: I can barely function when I wake-up but your videos each morning bring me to life again. It’s become a daily wake-up ritual. Great coverage of the trails of trains in populated areas and delays by crossings. We see them here where I am with 25 - 40 trains a day. These stories you document are a great part of watching rail. Glad you put in the effort. OK tirade over - a good tirade! Can’t wait until tomorrow when I’ll unspool the next chapter in these ongoing railway soap operas - bleary-eyed and wishing I could still drink coffee. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
A tirade is an angry, critical rant. I think you must mean something else?
Thanks for your support! I really appreciate it. I am getting ready to head out this morning at 4am for a treck over to central West Virginia. I need a bunch of coffee! lol
I'm going to give a brief exaltation for Jawtooth. Tonight was opening night for the haunted house which I am an actor. I came home and had time for only one train video, and the honor went to Jawtooth. And OMG, 4 a.m. only means a quick trip to the bathroom then I'm back to sleep.
Hey jawtooth I allways watch your old trains videos to help your channel. 👍🍻🍺..🇨🇦
Thanks Dan! I really appreciate it
I must say watching your train videos is a lot better than waiting for trains to pass on a road near where I live. After all I can switch to another video when watching yours!
Thanks Mr. Tooth, I enjoy starting my day with your videos. Please keep it up.
BP
Thanks for watching Bruce! I will keep at it
Love the cat, horse and dog! Glad your giving the horse a well deserved retirement!
Thank you!
That depot is awesome! Great video.
Thanks!
JT, I noticed that the signal lights seem to turn off for a while and then on again. It works this way, the lights are LED and pulsed quickly. The pulse rate is very close to your camera frame rate, This causes the lights to appear to go out when the pulses and frame are together making the camera not see a light as the LEDs are off at that moment. Wierd, but that's how come they go out only in the video.
I was wondering about that myself, if that was due to the camera freq or an actual light failure
LED car headlights and indicators (turn signals) are a problem for the cameras on self-driving cars which may not see them for this reason. I learned that from a Steve Mould video.
Great video! I especially enjoyed that last NS train with the k5lla horn. Thanks for sharing!
Interesting fun fact: The lead unit on that train was involved in a wreck 5 years ago with one of their specially painted AC44C6Ms pulling it, and both engines were laid up in the works for quite a long time
@@courtemanche437 that's neat! I'm always googling locomotive numbers and most of the time there are several pics to see on sites like rrpicture arhcive.
Great video as usual!!! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good morning JT You had a couple long trains today; nice video as well. Thanks!
A train this long when stopped, is literally cutting the town in half. I can’t possibly imagine how this cripples emergency rescue and POLICE as these long train pass through town.
If a person lived in Hamilton, Ohio on a regular basis would probably get burnt out on being constantly held up at railroad crossings, especially when trains come to a stop and sit there for a long period of time. They must have a slow order going through Hamilton, because I've noticed that they're in no hurry.
Desplaines Illinois is another one of those towns. Back in the 70s when the Notsees wanted to march in Skokie Illinois the joke was let them march but in Desplaines because after the 5th or 6th freight train they'd throw up their hands and go home.
There's a yard just north of Hamilton, so a lot of the trains will be going slow because they're either leaving or entering that. And there are plenty of roads with under- or over-passes to cross the railway -- you only have to go a few blocks either way.
@@beeble2003 Fine for drivers; less fine for walkers or cyclists. The place needs some pedestrian bridges. Though a lot of American towns are actively hostile to anyone not in a car.
@@qwertyTRiG Actually, it looks like I misread Google Satellite View and mistook one grade crossing for a bridge and thought there was an underpass at a point where a road approaches the railway and does a right-angle. Looks like there are only two real underpasses, plus another one on a very minor road on the edge of town. So pretty hostile to cars, too, tbh.
I like your videos, the unusual situations you show like in this case the obstructed crossings, the slides at the end, the dogs, the kitten, the horse and the duck. With all this you can compose a scenario of harmony and peace of mind. Cheers!
I like how you shoot in different locations, keeps things interesting.
I went the wrong way in ""Detroit once... the Detroit cop was not impressed.

Chesie being silly 😂
ruclips.net/video/6CQ270dGUxg/видео.html
I really like trains but super long slow freights could stop fire trucks and ambulances. I'm surprised legislation hasn't gone further in limiting train length. Thank you for the great video.
are slow for safety or are they slow because freight tracks are in terrible upkeep compared to the Northeast Corridor passenger tracks? If its stability of the physical infrastructure than upgrade it, electrify it and speed it up. I have been amazed there is not much effort in speeding up freight where fast is possible, Though I have no clue if a freight car could even handle 100+ I suspect their wheels and bearings are not designed to book it like an NE regional.
Well anyway awesome video JT and watching enjoying and enjoy the side show too AWESOME Jaw Tooth 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😎❤️
Love that mellow sounding horn on the second train. Those shrill horns make me want to hit the mute button, lol. I also love the mellow sounding Leslie? horns on a lot of the old streamlined locomotives that sound sort of like an old semi horn. Also, I can be a railfan and still get mad when I have to wait for a stopped train that's making me late for an appointment, or work or if I need to pee really bad, LOL!
Hunter Harrison Specials Ride Again!!!!!
Stay Warm, JT !!!!!!!
Yesterday there was an east bound UP when we got there the train was sitting the engineer came out talked to us the train was 2500 plus 3 lead engines 2 DPU’s pretty cool day.
excellent footage. it was interesting how they left that line of cars like that.

Great video keep up the good work God bless from GA
Thanks for watching and God bless from Ohio!
Nice short local. Sometimes it's more fun to watch a short train. As far as moving the depot goes, I expect it's a major proposition to move a brick building without damaging the brick walls.
Just imagine it's cold outside and you go to cross the street and here comes a nearly 2 mile long train crawling at a slow speed, long minutes go by and than it stops and blocks the crossing and just sits there. That's the joy of living in a small town with street trains. That poor guy never got across, wonder how far he had to walk to get on the otherside.
ruclips.net/video/6CQ270dGUxg/видео.html
That historic blue building with the windows mostly broken out was sure neat looking. Would be cool to see home historic photo's of around there.
I don't remember all the details, but, it was a well known paper mill, first/biggest west of the Alleghenies or something, made most of the paper for "McGuffey's Readers", invented "Buckeye Cover" report/binder cover paper that was #1/popular for a very long time, or something. Great job my brother, loves your videos more than any others...my brother in-law is an engineer for Norfolk southern, and he regularly uses the rat hole line..
Awesome video again, dam it got cold quick over there.

Wow J.T. that was kind of a crazy day. Saw a saying on a car about a month ago that said I thought we were all aboard the same train of thought. Cool video .
Cool saying. I wish I could remember that. I guess we all want the same things in life. Thanks for watching !

JT, the street is one way, but the sign is wrong.
Yes, that must be it. Lol
Another great video ... Hamilton ( Little Chicago ), Ohio.
The world is but a stage, with the trains exiting stage left and right. Cheap poetry of the day. 😊

super neat vid - love the horn application of that very first train headed by the GP40-2, had his own horn cadence going there. I know you really work it, but you really do run into some neat stuff sir.

Great catch of that MASSIVE CSX mixed freight train that I'm surprised did have a Mid-Train DPU. There must be a Steel Industry around Hamilton bcuz a lot of Steel is transported by trains when you've been there! It was definitely odd it stopped in that area to break it down to transfer to the yard. Also a great catch of the NS Grain Train. Grain is definitely a Popular product delivered by the trains too! That poor truck driver that was stuck there til everything cleared hopefully he took a catnap lol. Thanks again JT as always for some great footage along with your PRICELESS time and effort! Cheers from Delmar, Delaware.
Yes, there are steel mills just north of Hamilton in Middletown, Ohio. Have a great week Shawn and thanks for watching !
@@JawTooth you do the same my friend and look fwd to seeing your next video!
@Shawnpowell What trains do you get at your end of our lovely little state? I go through Porter crossing a few times a week to work and see either oil to the Delaware City refinery or fairly short mixed freight to and from downstate.
@@gigglesmurf2004 lm in lower Sussex County Delaware and DCR comes through my part of town. I get to see the MP15AC's that I'm a BIG FAN of. Once in a while I go to the Clayton Interchange to see NS meet DCR with loaded cars to bring South and NS takes the empty cars back North!
Good morning Jaw tooth. Be blessed and happy Friday. Stay warm too!
Good morning! It is supposed to warm up again for a few days
I Love trains also sometimes you just can't sit with work an appointment or anything else
You'll have to check with the City of Hamilton offices Jaw Tooth... I thought that they were supposed to get the depot moved soon cuz I have been keeping up with the depot news... Excellent catch with the 2 wrong way drivers.... Only in Hamilton, OH is where the action always is.... Stay safe Jaw Tooth...
At 17:39 there's a Kolonel Freight Crew tag on the grainer.

Speaking of the one way street but, there is no "Do Not Enter" signs on the end of the street where you are standing.. IF they are from out of town or even newer locals, they may not know it is one way...
Good video my brother thanks for sharing. Robert
Short newspaper article in Journal News dated Sept 19, 2022:
Hamilton’s work to move train depot proceeds
Preparations to relocate the former CSX train depot are expected to begin today. After a couple of weeks of concern, the relocation of the former CSX train depot on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard won’t be delayed any further.
PS - Town I grew up in actually built an overpass so that at least one street would have unrestricted access between the areas split by the rail line. It was a big accomplishment at the time
Awesome video keep up with a great work and be safe out there.
Thanks, will do!
That one-way street is poorly marked as such. If I wasn't from the area, I might have gone the wrong way myself.
last week after film A train crossing virginia street saw car going wrong way on 1 was street
I don't like the one way streets. I did that a couple years ago and a guy in his yard was yelling at me so I turned around. Lol

great views, thx
Late to the party because I have been busy.Just finished watching the whole video. They sure do tie up those crossings.
Good Morning Jaw Tooth. Stay warm.
Hello William! How are you today?
Shouldn't there be a sign at the start of that one-way street saying, "Do not enter"? I notice there isn't one.
Yes, they have signs that say One Way Street
@@JawTooth Most U.S. drivers are accustomed to One-Way streets that have three factor signage protecting against travel in the wrong direction. See types below. For whatever reason, the signage along 5th Street in Hamilton, OH in the video appears to only have single-factor #1 type signs, with no #2 nor #3 warning signage visible.
1. *ONE WAY* - located at intersections [black & white sign]
2. *DO NOT ENTER* - facing traffic about to enter a One Way roadway in the prohibited direction [signage with white lettering and a white bar on a red circular background ]
3. *WRONG WAY* - located ~ hundred feet from an intersection facing drivers who are already traveling in the prohibited direction [rectangular signage with white lettering on a red background]
Keep warm Jawtooh!
See you on the next one.
