Mr. JT - Sir, I may have missed that video, but if not, if you have time, would you please consider a video about the current status of the 'old' shoo fly. Have they removed all of the unused track and are they working on the highway underpass, or are things pretty much at a standstill right now. Great videos; take care, my friend.
Looks like some tie replacement is coming up. Would be cool to get some video of that. Some great action in Troy (Including the two dogs sparring over which one was going to bark at you). Long line of Uncle Joes on the one train. Great video as always, thanks!
Awesome action and great locations...I agree with bill xam...if there's a steel mill that would be awesome to see that industrial scene!! Very good footage Jaw!!!
That one train is not a rock train. At one time those train cars went thru Ridgeway heading towards Sidney. Those cars are full of talconite pellets used in making steel.
I miss seeing these trains! I use to head to Ashtabula OH and watch the barges load up the Jenny's heading south towards Pittsburgh. As kids we used the tact pellets in our slingshots! 😄
Awesome video JT. Nice variety of trains and locations. Troy looks like a nice little town for rail fanning. Nice to see a symbol of the past still in use, those B&O signals. Thanks for sharing JT.👍🏼
NGL, but this would drive me up the wall if there was a rail line right in front of my house. Kudos to these people who deal with this on a daily basis!
That was my thought also. I do live near a line, but doesn't bother me because it's far enough away. No way I could put up with that coming right through my bedroom at 2am, with HORN GRADE CROSSINGS! God bless them.
I had a friend of the family that lived across the street from the LIRR Main Line. He used to wake up screaming and crying as a baby whenever a train came by as he was sleeping, but he eventually became accustomed to it.
Jam packed action today. The lead train is the same one you shot at Carlisle and some of the cars in there we're also in your last video from Lagrange KY. Near the front Is NRI brown box car 171247 and near the rear 7 TODX small rusty covered hoppers. So JT those cars got the Queensgate treatment and then must have set for hours in the siding at Carlisle as you gradually move back North. Unit trains of every type autos and ethanol then the raw material of taconite and the finished product of slabs. Four trains four products NOW that is variety! A few of the slab cars have blistered paint from some of the hot metal and the leasing firms won't take a big hit if the taconite business dries up because these cars can be used for aggregate service. The Troy tie program is sure working around some tight spaces especially those people's backyards. Sadly those dogs receive little if any human interaction and therefore weren't friendly and lovable like your Trio and sidekick Norfie. If you keep pacing the first train you'll probably make Cleveland later this week. Keep 'em rolling!
NC&StL is the logo for the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railroad. Got absorbed into the L&N which became part of the Seaboard System and finally into CSX
I counted 199 units (including locos and counting articulated auto racks as two cars) on that first train. I have never before counted a train that long! It was moving along at about 28 mph.

I wondered if that Troy Bicentennial tower (1814|2014) water is still fit to drink. It's almost 208 and 3/4s years old now. Would liked to have seen an expiration date somewhere, Señor Jaws. Your Monday videos are always planned to keep us guessing for the upcoming week. Brilliant. Gracias por tu video. RT sends, Puebla, México...
N/S runs a caboose for shifting for Hershey Foods in Hershey Pa. I just found this out a few weeks ago myself. They run it a few days a week every week.
@@geibgaming3696 Your welcome I took a photo of it sitting yesterday. I met another RUclips person at Hummelstown last week. This area is pretty busy. The Engine and Caboose sit at a crossing in Hershey up the road from the Park Cafe. Well back off the crossing maybe 75 yards or so. Yes I'm local here.
When I was growing up our house was about that close to the tracks... miss it a lot !! Did you see that CSX boxcar that said BIG BLUE on it? I've never seen that before, wonder what that means. That sure is a busy spot, got some great train shots !! Love that B&O old signal !! 👍 Awesome Awesome VID !! 👍👍👍
ChainsawN&W1218, glad the rail strike was averted, looks like Scott enjoys filming to,nice shot of the manifest and rock hopper trains dropping the signal! 👍🛤
So for fun here's the question : anybody remember the Wabash cannonball ? First mention was in 1905 by William Kent , and then by A.P Carter for the song . It was sung by Roy Acuff in 1936 . The first time the phrase was coined was 1885 , so the train had some history , but was it a Hotshot or was it mail train? 🤔 yes the video is cool , they're always cool .
Nice variety of cars on the first train, and the slab train was made BAD ASS catch… along with the rock train and auto racks!! Awesome!! Start the video, son!!!!
wow JT, five big trains passing throuh Troy, I think you found a really good spot for videoing trains mate, keep them comming, shout out to Scot as well.
Another decent place to film this line is over by the Kaufman Dam just north of Dayton. There's a parking lot there and the bike path that goes through Tipp City and Troy is right there. The bike path goes under a bridge right next to the tracks. It's a double track through there with a cross over. It's cool you got the daily (I think) taconite train to AK steel in Middletown.
183 cars on the first train. Only 82 cars on that second train. 147 on the next one, that train with the steel slabs. 177 on the next one. 82 on that auto racks train at the end. LOL at Chessie and your shoe.
Man, except for the locomotive horns, the second train was o quiet!. The second one looked like all new tank cars. Hardly heard it passing. But those wheel flat spots on the other trains raise a lot racket.
It is rare to catch a train on that spur track. I was at Walgreens last year and was shocked when I heard a close train nearby. Stepped outside just quick enough to catch the gate activated on S Market Street. By the time I got through the intersection it was already ending. I just caught the tail end of it crossing at E West Street and S Clay Street. It was dark too, so it would have been very hard to see as there is no gate or lights at that crossing.

That was cool to see "ore Jenny's" again! I miss seeing the W&LE or B&P running taconite from Lake Erie shores down to the steel mills in middle of PA. Great video 👍
It’s hard to believe how much those train cars leak talconite. In Bellefontaine CSX replaced a railroad crossing and in about a week there was pellets lying all over that crossing.
