9 mins 1-st player turn holy shit... I started playing like a day ago (master duel) How do they even remember what happened in their turn, won't speak about enemy's turn... So much knowledge, practice, patience and focus...
Havent played Yugioh in over a decade. The fact that I'm four minutes in and its still the same person's turn, tells me its no longer the game i fell in love with.
As someone who grew up playing this through all my childhood and good amount of teen years I wanna say it has become complicated to the point of being stupid. It began to become dumb when cards started having literal paragraphs of text
As someone who almost never played the old school game, other than that PlayStation 1 forbidden memories I think, and only had cards with almost no one to play with, and barely remember the rules. When I downloaded Master Duel, and bought a deck from the store, I was a bit confused but now I am just loving it so far, so many options to make a strategy, and it all revolves around building a good deck, with a little bit of luck and quite the amount of strategy. I like it, been sinking some hours into it.
At 10:16 he activated a trap card called ‘Evenly Matched’ which can be activated from the hand if you control no cards and activated at the end of the battle phase, it makes your opponent banish cards on the field until you have the same amount as each other (so in this case he has to banish all his cards on the field except for one). Part of the issue is the commentators, and the boardstate overview/layout, For one the layout should be showing AT ALL TIMES which phase/turn they are on so people know what phase they are in, secondly they need to overlay a picture of the card EVERY TIME AN EFFECT IS ACTIVATED OR CARD IS PUT ON THE FIELD, And thirdly, THEY NEED TO SHOW US EACH PLAYERS FLIPPIN HAND, either by overlay or by camera positioned at each players hand to see Now the layout issues aside,, the commentators just babble on about random crap like ‘oh this deck is cool it can do this and has cool new cards’ instead of giving us a solid play by play of what cards are being summoned/activated. I mean they even missed the biggest part of the duel! When RED player activated *Evenly Matched* and said ‘oh looks like we missed that’ after the whole board is empty,, it’s a wonder why new players get intimidated ffs konami this is supposed to be the ‘world event’ and you can’t even spring for proper filming of it?

Last time I played was 2 years ago. I was meta with salamangreat in that moment. Nowadays I see the game again, and it feels quite nostalgic, but I know I have donde the correct decission. It was a nice and funny but I knew it couldn't be everlasting, since it was very expensive and it consumed me so much time, and and sometimes the meta environment wasn't so friendly. So I decided to sell all my stuff and start with something else. It was a good experience though, so much memories and memorable moments, I don't feel any regret when I started or when I finished. I dont plan on atart again in the near future, but who knows...

@@faramirchevlonski6152 theres an easy way to get around nibiru with code of soul, theres new support in the shape of new salamangreat structure decks and additional cards like promenthean princess the decks really good now with people who understand the decks topping regionals and getting high placement in YCSes, the t1/t0 of the meta is still atrocious but salamangreat is really in a great spot if they ever hitting the top dog I guarantee salamangreat would be the top contender heck theres going to be a lot of deck being contender if they hit the top dog
The best way to play yugioh is with a group of friends. While one half of the boards play the other half gets to just chat and lazily keep an eye on what's happening. I could never play this game competitively, I'd get disqualified for breaking a rule I forgot about
I was in love with this game since it came out. Absolutely loved DM and GX, then 5D's came out, and I was a bit confused and didn't know whether to love or hate Synchro. The more I watched 5D's, the more i realized it's actually great. Both the show and new Synchro mechanics. But when Zexal came out, I completely lost interest and actually didn't watch any spin-off after 5D's, even to this day. But I was ok with the XYZ mechanic. It was new, fresh, kinda cool, especially card design. Everything after that completely ruined this game for me. With Synchro and XYZ, they essentially just added new stuff and new possibilities. But when they started changing playmath, adding Pendulum... So I completely lost interest now, occasionally playing old school rules with my friends, since we all don't know and don't want to know how Pendulum and Link mechanics work. It was better back then. Summon a monster, activate a few spell cards here and there, place some traps, there are some cool little combos with special summoning and stuff like that. It was simple, fast, we don't care about meta and there are no 10-minute long turns... As someone who has been playing this game since I was a kid, for many years, I can't believe that I'm watching this now and not understanding anything.
I wish they could some how zoom in on the cards description, but announcers do a good job at explaining it, i'm somewhat getting it as someone who hasn't dueled really dueled in over 12 years lol. And too tune into the players comm at times, maybe they did idk haven't watched the whole thing. I think that would be cool, Pretty entertaining though, been getting into watching comp games again like cod now Yugioh, Gonna be tuning more for sure.
Not understanding the game and not wanting to feel stupid playing it is exactly why I stopped playing Yugioh when Pendulums came into the game. I simply didn’t understand. Yugioh Master Duel was the solution for me. It’s completely free, and playing the tutorial and solo mode helped me understand the game as it is today. Any game takes patience and perseverance to learn to play. A lot of people don’t have that, so they call the game dumb now. That being said….I still think Yugioh is easier to play than Spades or Texas Hold ‘Em 🤷🏽♂️

Knowledge of the decks and the cards, alot of playtime, and alot of focus. When you play alot, sooner or later you will know what the card does just by looking at the card's art without reading the effects, even without knowing the exact words of the effect text.

That's the thing. They don't. They remember what all the cards in the deck they're do, and then when their opponent's are playing solitaire for 10 minutes they just trust they're not being cheated.
Hand traps and evenly matched defined the match. This was actually fun to watch and easy to follow what was going on. I also enjoyed the good sportsmanship they shared. It was a great match for sure! PS I never expected to see swordsoul tenyi here and that’s just kinda the way she goes boys and girls Same thing probably would’ve happened to branded as well :/

The fact that these turns are way over Master duel timer though 🐸☕️ it is so frustrating getting to a great end board and losing to time due to your opponent having interaction which was the whole point of making a board and the prompts (GOD FORBID YOU FORGET ABOUT MAGNAHUT ON END LOSING TO NOT CLICKING FAST ENOUGH) or they break your board only to themselves lose to time before getting lethal.

@HadzoonayMeegus You’re better off playing a different format in MTG than Modern or Standard. In YGO, There is a lot of searching, a lot of effects, a lot of text on each card with no bullet points, and the deck needs to be shuffled after each search.
Trying to get back into this after playing as a kid in early 2000s … sad how much more complicated it’s become and not just attacking and battling … what’s with all this special summon and set this card to get this one for minutes on end… old days it was just place this card , sacrifice these to get this one , fusion that , etc . Now it’s so much more it’s almost not the same
At this point Yugioh card game has just become a Tarot card reading. They shuffle more cards than a dealer at a casino, before even laying down one card. Sigh... I miss the old game.

I love Yugioh, but these synch, link, and xyz decks have made these games incomprehensibly dull at times. It’s like imagine if in chess you played all of your moves at the beginning of your turn 😂
For people not getting it, the game evolved from 20 turns of repetitive attacks until someone lost, to being able to do SO MUCH more in one turn. It’s more enigmatic and objectively complicated for good reason. It’s a game of chess. I’ve been playing since I was 10 and I’m 26 now, get with the changes.

After you search your deck you have to shuffle, it is customary to let your opponent "cut" your deck to ensure that you are not cheating in some way

It's normal to not understand things in the competitive match if you're not a competitive Yu-Gi-Oh player.

First Evenly resolved, Bystial dropped, then the SECOND Evenly dropped, and THEN we went to M2

I like complex games... But I preffer classic Yu Gi Oh! (Battle City saga, for example) more than this one.

Was thinking of getting into yugioh cuz modern in mtg was getting stale, but this just looks miserable. Is this how typical yugioh games at an lgs go as well?
@HadzoonayMeegus You’re better off playing a different format in MTG than Modern or Standard. In YGO, There is a lot of searching, a lot of effects, a lot of text on each card with no bullet points, and the deck needs to be shuffled after each search.
Trying to get back into this after playing as a kid in early 2000s … sad how much more complicated it’s become and not just attacking and battling … what’s with all this special summon and set this card to get this one for minutes on end… old days it was just place this card , sacrifice these to get this one , fusion that , etc . Now it’s so much more it’s almost not the same

At this point Yugioh card game has just become a Tarot card reading. They shuffle more cards than a dealer at a casino, before even laying down one card. Sigh... I miss the old game.

In master duel, snake-eyes are beatable by many decks.

I love Yugioh, but these synch, link, and xyz decks have made these games incomprehensibly dull at times.

For people not getting it, the game evolved from 20 turns of repetitive attacks until someone lost, to being able to do SO MUCH more in one turn. It’s more enigmatic and objectively complicated for good reason. It’s a game of chess. I’ve been playing since I was 10 and I’m 26 now, get with the changes.
