This is Dennis revealing “Chops Galore Inc” including speed, time sig precision, creativity, etc. Reminds me of way back in the day when Dennis played with Skylab at a local Baltimore club (when off the road). Skylab had Tony Bunn (bass), Jake Shepard (guitar) Paul Saroka (keys & lyricon) - and the musician would all leave the stage and give Dennis 15-25 min. Thanks to whomever for posting this!! 🙏🏾👍🏾🔥❤️
I've learned more about music from watching & listening to Dennis than I think I have from any other source, & I'm a guitar player. Back in the 1990s a drummer that I played with watched Dennis' instructional vids nonstop, & the entire band listened to P-Funk Allstars Live at Beverly Theater CD. Anyway, my drummer had heard that Dennis gave private lessons somewhere around Baltimore. Well, I'm from the Eastern Shore & was running crabs up there several times a week so I went through every phone book up there until I found it. I booked a private lesson (I can't remember the price), but I told my drummer we were going up to Chuck Levins & right before the Bay Bridge I told him what was really happening. He about crapped himself. So we get there, here comes Dennis around the corner & I about crapped myself too lol. BUT... the people at the drum store said only one person could back because it was a very small room & there were 2 kits. I explained that I had paid, & that I'd stand in the corner, but if only one of us could go back that it was going to be me, & I didn't even play drums. Well Dennis gave me this look over top his glasses like, "boy shit," & told me to grab a stool but my legs would have to straddle his hi-hat. I saw everything, hands & feet - including him doing one-footed bass triplets. I've seen Dennis quite a few times since, but that experience changed my life.
this lineup is when i first saw sco. i think it was october 86 at the great american music hall in san francisco. the gods came down from olympus and blessed us with sound.
12:14 - This reaction from Grainger sums up the greatness that is Chambers. Most incredible solo I've ever seen. Just might have been for Gary too in that moment.
You can't say best drummer. You can say who you like best. There are so many super great drummers, they all bring their own magic to the table. For me, Dennis is my go-to favourite :)
Oglądałem to na żywo! Rozjarzony Gary i kamienny Dennis. Do dzisiaj trudno mi pozbierać szczękę z ziemi.

Chambers at his peak. This is just beyond incredible.
He's still peaking
That Jheri curl Dennis era was a beast!!!

Fantastic to see proper musicians jaws drop !
I love him with Sonar!
Chambers is just effortless
Let’s have a bonfire. I’ll bring my drum kit
Solo just wore me out, now I need a nap.
Man, this blows my mind!
Love that Stingray sound
You don't see man nowadays...I wonder why that is?
Gary Grainger’s work on Eumir Deodato’s “Night Cruiser” record is sooooooo good.
It was in Poland, I remember this live!
So bad mofos here. Dennis was KILLING!!! His power 👍
Such a great solo. Can hear a lot of Gergo Borlai’s chops are inspired by this man. He inspired all of us!
Have Mercy!!! Fantastic Stuff
Stamina and speed ... cant say anything for Dennis Chambers. U the best Dennis ! !!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I saw this tour live..; In Paris New Morning !!!!
Best Drummer in the World(batteries), Dennis Chambers! in technic, I don't see no others?
You're not looking hard enough mate🙄🤣
He has passed the torch to Gergo Borlai 🙂
He is one of the best, but there are too many others like Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Terry Bozzio, Steve Gadd etc...

@Jez2008UK Absolutely right !!!
Bmore in the house!!!
Though I'm from Poland I wasn't aware that communists in 86 agreed for concert of "spoiled" Jazz Band from USA
still love it!!
yeah you can tell Dennis is all warmed up! NASTY!!!
Coś fantastycznego!
excellent!
Awesome.
If Alphonse Mouzon (RIP) and Billy Cobham were to be fused together; the resultant being would be called Dennis Chambers.
John Scofield let Dennis Chambers make the evening in 1986 Warsaw..
also good harmonic variations for the hendrix made 'manic depressions'
Unglaublicher Dennis Chambers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is some Aphex Twin level rhythm shenanigans
the brutal chambers stream machine-move
that bass drum movement at 6:38......jeez!
Dennis' playing and timing seems so effortless. No idea why that bucket of water got throw on him. I must be hot as hell in that room. LOL
rythm section of the millenia
it takes more effort for me to smoke a cig than it did for dennis to take this solo
When he trow his stick to the audience and just starts with the triples...on his bass drum..his not human being. And this was in 86..come on!
Back in the days when DC was very badass
He STILL is...
@@robertdore9592 well he certainly has recovered from his liver issues agreed, DC is back on physical top form in 2023
On sonor set.
Oglądałem to na żywo! Rozjarzony Gary i kamienny Dennis. Do dzisiaj trudno mi pozbierać szczękę z ziemi.
On this video john scofield says make me rich under his breath,
Dennis has been playing the same solo for 30 years he is still my favored Dummer, but i don't get the Suprise like watching Larnell Lewis
I can feel in my stomach his serious stomping on a bass drum pedal
chamber with attitude CWA
If Dennis was a boxer he would have been a knockout artist.
💙🌱💮🙄
A ”little” weird but Scofield was also into a weird period
Koncert był wydarzeniem, a grę Dennisa Chambers'a wychylając się zza kulis podziwiali muzycy i organizatorzy JJ
What year is this? Anyone?👍👌
1986
He plays there on Sonor Drums, isn't he a Pearl Endorser...?
Some kit , Sonorlite ! the whole nine yards
What's the song name?
The Nag
87-88?!
sonor? pearl
wow..he was playing a monster Sonor..a birchy sonorlite btw
Yes, I noticed that, too. Looks very sharp on him 😉
Chambers drum for his money...1986...
Why does Dennis seem serious?
So his drum kit remains scared.
That’s what we call “focus” 😂
Maybe because drums seems to be a kind of serious things to him...just a little bit
Maybe because he was hoping to be playing a Pearl drum kit. lol
Because hes doing serious work. 😊
Chambers/Grainger. The best drum/bass combo next to Flea/Chad Smith 😮
Ok.
Way back on those sticks..
gary, dennis pulsation
