You guys put out great content. It’s always super annoying when we’re constantly reminded that all of your content is just a commercial for your app or whatever
I actually have a video of Dennis playing the 2nd piece. ( So You say) back after he did the Buddy Rich Tributes. He killed It but this time he really enhanced It. That third piece sound exactly like a groove out of The Drummer's Cookbook or a David Garibaldi groove from the '70s Modern Drummer. Dennis is simply amazing
Love that you guys give these legends exposure on this platform these days. I strongly believe some younger folks would never see/hear of them if it wasn't for drumeo or other music-focused channels. I've played for 20+ years and only lately realizing the greatest joy is that there's always something to learn. These dudes are a wealth of knowledge from a lifetime of playing, making mistakes, and learning. The world and the industry has changed a lot for musicians, but being someone who is teachable and able to adapt this stuff in your toolkit will always be valuable.
Dennis is such a versatile drummer. Can play any genre of music. And he puts his own signature twist on it with a little lemon and lime!! Feel the music 🎶 🥁!!!!
Prime 90s DC was just the most insane drumming experience with his endless chops, rhythms and displacements, all while keeping the deepest groove imaginable. Possibly the most naturally gifted player to ever play drums.
*Grandmaster Dennis Chambers!* He simply owns that pocket. Godfather Of Soul James Brown wanted Dennis Chambers to go on tour with him when he was still just a little kid, so then you know he's really good! The way he laid down those grooves for Parliament/Funkadelic back in the day is still unmatched. Not even talking about his Jazzrock/Fusion work. And he does everything with such ease! I'm glad this legend is still alive to teach us all and give us masterclasses like these.
Saw Dennis live in my small hometown in Sardinia back in 91 with Bob Berg and a year later with Steve Khan. He was one of my absolute drum idols back then and learned so so so much from him by playing on top of his wonderful parts in "Pick Hits live" and "Tokyo Live" with JML and Joey Di Francesco countless times until I got them (almost) right. Having him in such a small remote village in a small remote island was bonkers. It was in small club, a former disco club so there were no chairs no nothing and I was sitting right behind him on stage 1 meter away. I couldn't take my eyes off him. It was just jaw droppin'. Long Live DC
Hi Dennis, good to see you back, especially after having had this liver transplantation! I hope you will be doing fine in the near and further future with your blessed new liver. I can relate to that myself. Being thankful and having had the opportunity to go on and live a new life. Bless you and the donor and his/her family!! I wish you all the best.
Drumming sound comes through better this way, the music being somewhat less loud. The craft of Dennis Chambers is amplified this way, nice approach for this. Great drumming man, wow.
It's great seeing Dennis back playing after all his hardships. I love his attitude and passion for playing funk. I just joined a funk band and can't wait to take the course to get me more prepared to groove with emotion and passion.
Dennis, man you are a living treasure, and you don't even have to prove it to anyone. I thank God for you and your family, sorry about all the mixed up bumps, slips, trips and falls in the middle of the road, some time these are the very things that bring about your character. Dennis Chambers! You is because you is.
We love you Dennis! You are amazing and kind! Thank you for sharing! Many of us had to come back after hardship, including me. Drumming is a journey often a healing one. God bless!
Last time I saw a vid of Dennis he didn't look well at all so it's awesome that he's back to looking healthy again. Such a fantastic and inspiration to all drummers. Thank you Drumeo for bringing him in again to do his magic ❤️
If you haven't seen Dennis play live it's hard to appreciate the volume he is producing while playing. He holds his sticks almost in his palm at the very end of the butt, so the kinetic force he creates on the downstroke is like a whip.
So smooth, so clean, so steady--it doesn't get any better than this. Any producer would want this man in their studio--you will always get an amazing track, just the best at what he does.
Dennis is the man when it comes to funk and jazz I’m rock metal guy but love music makes me want to try a new direction his groove and feel is absolutely amazing
Beautiful playing, and beautiful he’s rising above hard times. Dang, i wanna go hear him play live with 2 other blistering groove drummers! His feel is so solid and soulful, it’s a party every time he plays. I love that he can play wild technical stuff but most of the time he is just locking the audience in to the pocket. The mark of a great player, giving the music exactly what it requires, no less no more.
Funk, hell all drumming, is best when not so damn busy especially on the kick. As a drummer nothing irritates me more than hearing a busy player. Dennis is right in the pocket and shows flashes when appropriate and that's why he's so good.
It's amazing to me to see how much different even a simple beat sounds when a professional plays it. There's so much conviction in the strokes and I feel like it has a fuller sound. Like the way a guitarist will have a different tone just by the little nuances in the way they fret a string.
This is correct, however, Dennis is not a professional. He si a legend. The difference is a big between a pro like me and him as between a beginner and me...!!!
For anyone looking to get a similar snare sound. Tune down the bottom head and tune up the batter. Having an Evans g2 skin helps with that Ringy sound. If you have a Dw snare you probebly already have that snare sound or something high in tone like Dennis’
My absolute favourite performance of him is when he played on the “roots and grooves” Album by Maceo Parker and played Pass The Peas. A 17 minute jazz/funk masterpiece with a solo done by this guy. Absolute insanity.
Love the lesson. Learned a lot and Dennis Chambers man you’re awesome. I wouldn’t have known about you if it wasn’t for Drumeo. Appreciate the lesson. 🤙🏻
Wow great to feel an see you my brother back2back on the best Always on 🔥💯 Been following from the early p fonk days Beautiful to see you full of energy 👊🏾❤️👊🏾💯🎵🎶
Привет! С большим интересом смотрю и слушаю хиты из 90-х, Деннис как всегда, неподражаем. Исполнял его вещи, - это непросто, а исполнить как он - невозможно. Спасибо за позитив, феноменальную технику и за то, что ты есть!
the man hasnt lost a beat. hearing him play "pick hits", i just had to laugh to myself when he whips through those fills in the intro, its just soooooooo good. inspiring stuff, dennis is the man!
Heard Dennis with Scofield in 1988. Clearly got his super groove beneath his super chops. I even char(ed) a couple of Denni’s employers then as a Swedish drummer. Inspiring to get his message again!
i was a drummer and my timing was good back when i was in my early and mid teens but hes about my age now and im 56 and his timing is on the money.hes one of or if not my favorite drummer.

Dennis always leaves me breathless with his groove, urgency and limitless toolbox. I’ve never seen a more thunderous player in concert. Thanks Drumeo!

“So You Say” has got to be one of the most comfortable performances I’ve ever seen by a drummer.
Thank you Mr Chambers . “ it’s not about me it’s about us” . That’s the thing
I love your feel .🙏🏼🖖

Such a positive and good hearted musician. Watched his other videos here in drumeo, inspiring musician!
Dennis, one of the GOATs to have drummed the earth. Thank you Mr. Chambers and Drumeo.
Dennis, glad to see you back on the map. Thank you for continuing to share your gift with a new generation.
More pockets than a pair of old cargo shorts. Just phenomenal

Dennis Chambers can hold the pocket like no other. I always loved his fusion and tech stuff, but this is just pure, simple enjoyment.
Dennis Chambers, respect with this legend. Master of Tony Royster Jr.
We love you Dennis! You are amazing and kind! Thank you for sharing! Many of us had to come back after hardship, including me. Drumming is a journey often a healing one. God bless!
We've got Dennis,We've got the funk!
Cheers Dennis.
Cheers Drumeo.
Many thanks.
Cheers Steve!
Master of the throne...play what you feel...💯👍
Mr. Chambers with John Scofield and Gary Grainger, amazing loud funkiness! I’ll love it forever:)
Last time I saw a vid of Dennis he didn't look well at all so it's awesome that he's back to looking healthy again. Such a fantastic and inspiration to all drummers. Thank you Drumeo for bringing him in again to do his magic ❤️
Good to see Dennis looking well again. Keep up inspiring us, my ultimate drum hero
Thank you Drumeo for letting us learn from and enjoy this legend.
What an absolute pleasure to watch Mr Chambers play...when it comes to funk, I love his approach...amazing, thank you Mr. Chambers
One of the all-time great masters right there, Dennis Chambers, amazing!❤️🥁
If you haven't seen Dennis play live it's hard to appreciate the volume he is producing while playing. He holds his sticks almost in his palm at the very end of the butt, so the kinetic force he creates on the downstroke is like a whip.
Dennis always plays with incredible dynamics, precision, and musicality! I have been a fan for decades!
So smooth, so clean, so steady--it doesn't get any better than this. Any producer would want this man in their studio--you will always get an amazing track, just the best at what he does.
So happy to seeing Dennis back in shape and stilling has it all!
Such a legend. I didn’t know he had a liver transplant. That’s some heavy stuff my old man had one and it ain’t no joke. Love you Dennis 🔥
Even when he plays more on the simple side.... Holy crap, man. I mean, talk about feel and soul. DAMN!!!
His playing with the Niacin & Cab projects are amazing!
He’s back! On 🔥
Dennis is the man when it comes to funk and jazz I’m rock metal guy but love music makes me want to try a new direction his groove and feel is absolutely amazing
Dennis is one of the all time BEST DRummers
Absolutely brilliant
Wow!!! The tone of that bass drum is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dennis is so lit that he influenced my metal drumming. His perspective is not locked exclusively to funk drumming, it's way wider
It's fantastic to see one of the greats and I'm not even a drummer
Nice one Drumeo! Been waiting for this!
Cheers Felix!
Dennis is a metahuman monster.. Dennis lays it down, in a deep pocket. His drumming reminds a lot of people how rigidly they play.

I am a big fan of Parliament -Funkadelic and of course big fan of Mr Chambers. Amazing musicien . Merci for this great video. Merci drumeo
I saw Dennis w/ Mike Stern shortly before Covid broke out. Have also seen him twice w/ Victor Wooten. Amazing player and a legend on the kit IMHO.
Absolutely love this guy and his playing! ♥️
Funk, hell all drumming, is best when not so damn busy especially on the kick. As a drummer nothing irritates me more than hearing a busy player. Dennis is right in the pocket and shows flashes when appropriate and that's why he's so good.
This makes me happy to see Dennis , you have to see him live on stage ...he is an amazing soul.
Legend! A true blessing to witness.
I'm a metal head and love playing metal. But man something about funk. Whenever I play anything funk. Even to fool around with. It's so much fun
Dennis was/is a major influence in my drumming..!
Playing with authority... I've heard that phrase long time ago.. It's the first thing that came into mind in the first track.. Great lesson!
So great to see Dennis play this music 👍 awesome as always.
Cheers Andreas!
Great seeing Dennis on here imparting wisdom & groove. Love that finish on the kit too.
Met Dennis, seen him blow up his drums. Chill, cool, relaxed beast of a player.

I love that the opening song that Dennis plays is a nostalgia trip to “Good Burger” lol, awesome video guys
What an amazing grooves! Master Dennis Chambers.

That kit’s finish is beautiful.
Isn't it stunning.
One of Pearl’s best finishes by far, and has been for yearsssss!
If lovin Dennis Chambers is wrong, I don't wanna be right!! I met him in '84 in FtL. He was in Downbeat magazine, great guy and sweet drummer!!!

still tryin to shake my nerves after his performance back in the 90's with the buddy rich band memorial, alongside other greats; Dennis was a menace

I always listen to the In The Pocket DVD, seeing him come back to those tracks is crazy
Unbelievable groove!
Saw Dennis with John Scofield & Gary Grainger round about Still Warm time - brilliant!
This guy is fantastic
Heard Dennis with Scofield in 1988. Clearly got his super groove beneath his super chops. I even char(ed) a couple of Denni’s employers then as a Swedish drummer. Inspiring to get his message again!
Amazing!
Sehr sehr cool! Mega Sound und einer meiner Lieblingsdrummer!!!
What a damn sweet jive what magic comes through Dennis playing
This was such a cool lesson. Thank you, Dennis! And thank you for agreeing to play all of these tracks minutes before the session 🙏🏻😂🔥
Awesome Dennis!
Dennis Chambers IS "FUNK" personified
...in Indonesia we have a legendary drummer like Mr. Dennis, his name is Gilang Ramadhan, i'm pretty sure you guys in drumeo will be shocked 😁🤘🏽🇲🇨
KILLER sound and playing
Great basic advice on playing to records, I've often tried to do exactly what the recording drummer is doing
that sound 👏
just incredible!
i was a drummer and my timing was good back when i was in my early and mid teens but hes about my age now and im 56 and his timing is on the money.hes one of or if not my favorite drummer.
SICK! 😎
Just his straight ahead, no-frills grooves sound beautiful. Makes me want to revisit the basics...
Just Awesome !!
Glad Dennis is ok after all the stuff he went through in the last 6, 7 years. Man.
