One thing a lot of people don’t appreciate about Dennis is his ear and how quickly he can absorb a song and own it. Similar to Buddy, he can hear a very complex song one time and then play it like he’s been playing every night for 10 years. He’s a beast on so many levels...and a super nice guy. Glad he’s well...we almost lost him not too long ago!
Everyone is saying this but do you all know many musicians did this???? Especially jazz. Jimi Hendrix always had gum in his mouth just a fact peace and love to all my soldiers brothers friends and musicians
Victor Wooten's smile and the obvious delight he gets from just playing is so infectious and a real inspiration. This is what musicianship really means for mine. over 9000 thumbs up.
My favorite musician of the current younger generation is Cory Wong. Not only is he one of the most versatile guitarists I've ever seen/heard play, he has the same happiness towards playing that we see in Victor all of the time. He will often visibly lose his mind when one of his band members does something crazy and unexpected. Lose his mind in a good way, though, not in a Buddy Rich way, lol.
I love how Dennis is still old school in that he can pull from the jazz tradition in a way many younger monsters of the instrument just can't. He has the monster chops with a huge range of sound and dynamics.
Im pretty sure ive never heard dennis actually " swing" he can annihilate some latin rhythms, but definately have never actually ever heard him "swing" so....huh?(btw I dont count a 1/2 time shuffle as swinging, which dennis can beast. But still.)
I heard him do Buddy Rich memorial concert.....with Neil Peart......music demonstrated there is a God in Heaven that likes drums...and they did swing Big band . Slow pitch under hand to a MLB player.
No. I've no idea why you say that, and don't think you do either, dennis has very little jazz tradition or old school anything in him to pull from. Been listening to him since the mid 80s. He is and was of the new school 80s/90s fusion chops playing style, not old school trad jazz or even 70s stuff. He's great love him for what he does, but he has little to no 60s or 70s jazz in his playing, feel wise or technique wise...that is totally not what he is about and he doest pull from that at all. Younger players actually pull from that way more than him...so many gospel chops guys and berklee players pull from that, but not dennis. Like everyone, he will say yeah they love tony or buddy or elvin or roy or whoever, but that doesnt mean they can or do or want to play like them. Dennis made his name as new school 80s 90s technical funk fusion chops guy w sco, then others after. He is a modern player in that way, modern being 80s 90s chops. He is not hired to play bop, doesnt play that way. Sco picked him because he was not a typical jazz player, sco wanted some new school 80s funk for his fusion then, that is why he picked dennis. If sco hadnt, then we prob would not know dennis today, as sco gave him his break into the 80s jazz fusion community, dennis's playing comes mainly from funk and billy cobham. He said so himself in many interviews.
ah, yes... victor be like: [seriously man?] while he seems proud of having screwed around with it (still keeping it nice and lean tho...) and not giving a fuck about everything (and everyone) else man, what an humour does he conceal under that subtle grin and that gum metronome
"Dennis Chamber is the master drummer with awsome groovs. Dennis Chamber and Victer wooten combination is always a great treat for the audience...Wowww
This is one beastial, celestial performance in whichever order you please. Maestro Dennis's monstrous polyrhythms. Bob Franceschini and his amazing sax playing basslines. Victor the groove master playing soaring lead lines. Thumbs way up. Gotta buy the album! 👍
The whole song is ABSOLUTELY beautiful but when 5:40 drops in it's just like... oh yes, we just took it up another notch. That harmony is just silky smooth and so creative! Oooooh! Gotta love it! They make it so laid back and fun with all that technically and experience! Masters of the art!
This performance is simply a legacy that will live on for way too long. I just want to say that it makes me so happy to see that Dennis has recovered from his illness and is doing great, playing great and just being that amazing human!
Gotta love Dennis. From the collarbones up he looks like a middle aged dude who just home from work and is sitting in a recliner watching TV. Collarbones down he is a jazz/funk fusion four-limb independence percussion monster.
Everytime that I watch Dennis Chambers play drums I am more and more impressed. I mean the way he finesse the sound out of his drums is nothing more that incredible. If I was going to play drums, I would study this man playing style inside and out. I really wish some of the so called "church drummers" would pay a lot so attention to his playing style! He plays and gets his message across WITHOUT tryin to kill the drums!!!
@Boyitellyouhwhat his esophagus lining developed holes from years of acid reflux. He began violently throwing up blood one day due to the damage and needed extensive surgery to fix it all. It took over a year for him to recover fully plus more time to get back to how he was
i love how layed back he was throughout most of it, then when the solo comes around he goes OFF. shows how much control he has over his drummer impulses, and also shows that hes not just thinking about himself during the song. i just was so shocked by how he exploded when the solo came around lol
The Sensei of Tony Royster... One of the progenitors of groove. And then to be so audacious as to have him on stage with Wooten. This is such an unsafe thing to do, the safety of the world is at risk.
Il meglio del meglio!!! Spettacolare! Unico Dennis! Dennis is amazing! One of the best drummers in the world! I love his way of playing, he is perfection, great! Greetings from Italy👍👍😉🇮🇹🇮🇹
I had the privilege of attending a clinic led by Dennis about 25 years ago in New Zealand. That was a big deal! I’m still just as impressed by him today as I was back then.
Impresionante la forma de hacer música, no pude decifrar el compás que interpretan, pero son tremendos los 3. El mejor video musical que haya visto en mucho tiempo. Gracias por publicarlo en RUclips.
Wow, great to see Dennis back and kicking again and love the way they all muck about with the time signatures, especially on Dennis's solo with him trying to tease and through off Victor in a way. Fab stuff people and well done.
Man, this is killing stuff -- modern, funk, and just way complex. Tight as a rope at a Cirque du Soleil show, and just as pinpoint accurate, while still living in the jazz improve spirt . KUDOS!!
Dennis Chambers pra mim é o mestre da batera eu amo ver esse cara manda esse Groove funk... Dele Dennis Chambers e uma máquina. Eita pegaaaa toop lembre-se bateras unidos jamais serão vencidos 👍🎶
I vividly remember John Mclaughlin concert in Seoul on May, 1995 with Dennis Chambers and Joey De Francesco... I saw Dennis played like a beast ... power and passion....
One thing a lot of people don’t appreciate about Dennis is his ear and how quickly he can absorb a song and own it. AMEN TO THAT. A very humble dude
Dennis comes in with that shuffle pushing the 4 and Victor just holds it down like nothing happened! Both metric powerhouses 👏
Dennis’s metronome is his gum
😄
true
I noticed that some time ago. 👍🏾
"Bazooka Dennis"...........!
I wonder if he could still play without the gum??? lol
Dennis Chambers looks like he got up from this and went straight to grill some mean rib while cracking a cold one. Absolute dad style.
Hahaha!
Reminds me of Robert "Beatdown" Brown
Chewing gum in alternating 7/8 and 19/16 while playing in any time signature
Everyone is saying this but do you all know many musicians did this???? Especially jazz. Jimi Hendrix always had gum in his mouth just a fact peace and love to all my soldiers brothers friends and musicians
Two5two3 What do you mean anytime signature? Dennis is the time signature :)
It’s just feel... no ones up there spewing mathematical equations.
He is in such control it's just ridiculous. Just effortless. Some people cant walk & chew gum. Every ghost note is so clean. He still the GOAT...
Is Dennis ever challenged? He always looks like he's thinking of what to order for lunch.
And chews gum at the same time!
Cruise control
@@banshee2014 Yeah, he is just that comfortable within the groove.
Dude I was literally thinking that he looked bored throughout this vod. He's an actual god.
Totally unfettered
Victor Wooten's smile and the obvious delight he gets from just playing is so infectious and a real inspiration.
This is what musicianship really means for mine.

James Brown wanted Dennis to be his drummer when he was 13 years old ! Enough said ! 💥
dennis is a beast!! so crazy, they are all beasts. love it!! so good
I love how Dennis is still old school in that he can pull from the jazz tradition in a way many younger monsters of the instrument just can't.
But still.)
He is undisputed wide range champ.
I heard him do Buddy Rich memorial concert.....with Neil Peart......music demonstrated there is a God in Heaven that likes drums...and they did swing Big band . Slow pitch under hand to a MLB player.

with the Buddy Rich Band. nothing too deep, but sounds pretty on it to me.

Yo the insane timing of that beat at 9:40 makes it one of the FILTHIEST drum beats ive ever heard!! Dennis is a wild man lol
So happy to see Dennis back in top form. I know he was battling health issues for a few years there, but he looks back to his old self. The master.
So great watching Dennis in good health and full form chewing his gum as usual!
I'm still trying to get walking and chewing. I tried to do that roll in the first section. Not allowed to practice without safety glasses anymore :(
Gum Gum sponsored by? 😂
Victor: we doin this in a 16th subdivision.
Dennis: naw fam, we doin this in triplet time
Best comment on here!
ah, yes... victor be like: [seriously man?] while he seems proud of having screwed around with it (still keeping it nice and lean tho...) and not giving a fuck about everything (and everyone) else

Loved the bass sax unisons that’s a great sound, and Mr. Chambers...ugh forget about it, what a trio 🔥🔥🔥
I think he's using a harmoniser at times as well
I want go play my drums and yet whats the use after hearing this...smh...
Like watching superman fly...happy at first then sad you can't do it.
That choppy flam hi hat grove at 9:40 is just out of this world
Victor Wooten is definitely one of my favorite bass players. Simply amazing.🤗
0:02
Victor: starts playing groove, feelin' it.
0:09
Dennis: NO!
Victor: -_-
oh is that why he stopped
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Why Do I Exist ....he totally went an unexpected direction. Loved that!!

They all just make it look so effortless. WOW AWESOME
"Dennis Chamber is the master drummer with awsome groovs. Dennis Chamber and Victer wooten combination is always a great treat for the audience...Wowww
These three are so incredibly talented. I admire so much from them!
Tenor Sax man Bob Franceschini
@@Basskat100 He's amazing
that sax man should be on the title too.. damn solid playing..
lol...i had to look for his name, that's a no no...He Worthy
He sounds very like Wayne Shorter. That's never a bad thing.
Joe Lovano
Bob Franceschini
What a fabulous trio...I’ve had the honor to meet Dennis a few times. He is the nicest and cool guy on top of being a monster drummer.
This is one beastial, celestial performance in whichever order you please. Maestro Dennis's monstrous polyrhythms. Bob Franceschini and his amazing sax playing basslines. Victor the groove master playing soaring lead lines. Thumbs way up. Gotta buy the album! 👍

onis he was recently very sick , dunno what but he was in the bones, however as the superhuman he is he gain it back pretty quick
Yes it is so good to see. What a monster and back on form.
Three absolute MASTERS of their craft!
Gotta love Dennis. From the collarbones up he looks like a middle aged dude who just home from work and is sitting in a recliner watching TV. Collarbones down he is a jazz/funk fusion four-limb independence percussion monster.
Dennis Chambers dressed like he just got back from gettin onto his kids for touching the thermostat.
Kevin Ward hahahahaha. Killed me
lmao
That's hilarious good one
Hahaha! One of the greatest comments I've seen on RUclips!
MR. CHAMBERS IS A GENIUS!!
I never get tired of dennis playing......woooooooooooooo
respect to Mr. Chambers!
❤
How it feels to chew New 5 Gum.
Damn! Incredible drummer, as well the others were ridiculously good.
Dennis has been my favorite drummer since the 80's when I first heard him on a John Scofield album.
Everybody effortlessly in the pocket. I love it.
Amazing MR Dennis chamber's pearl the best reason why we play Drums 🥁 💪
3:17-3:30 Victor Wooten is crazy......Dennis Chambers with the speed and fluidity around the kit and sax guy killed.
Mannn, this world is full of some awesome drummers and DC happens to be one of them.🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dennis Chambers is a genius, who imagine start like this ?
Oh my god. This is so ridiculously awesome.
Victor is a monster on the bass
That's some super touch on drums. Every snare hit sounds unique. It almost talks.
Dennis Chambers - INCREDIBLE! 😀
That is the most chill drummer with crazy skills that I've ever seen.
Brasil presente... QUE TRIOOOOOOOOO MEUS AMIGOS,DIFÍCIL DE COMENTAR 👏👏👏👏
The way dennis came in with that polymetric groove is the stankiest thing I've ever heard
I see ronaldinho is doing well after his retirement
hahahaa
Underrated comment
🤣🤣🤣

This is the most impressive I've seen Dennis since he was sick love it
@Boyitellyouhwhat his esophagus lining developed holes from years of acid reflux. He began violently throwing up blood one day due to the damage and needed extensive surgery to fix it all. It took over a year for him to recover fully plus more time to get back to how he was
Positive Vibes from Brazil!
The best hands from a different world ...both Dennis and victor = madeness
Favorite bassist, my first favorite drummer. Awesome to watch
Wicked!!! Love them..Dennis my all time fave😍🔥🥇
Dennis is a beast one of my favorites and Victor is Victor loving the sound of his bass
He never lost his touch on the kit. The magic's still there.
Dennis is one of the greats hands down
Dennis Keeps Raising The Bar (4himself....& that’s high)....
He’s still one of my top Favs....!!
i love how layed back he was throughout most of it, then when the solo comes around he goes OFF. shows how much control he has over his drummer impulses, and also shows that hes not just thinking about himself during the song. i just was so shocked by how he exploded when the solo came around lol
Dennis has always been my drumming hero. Him and Tony Williams
Just discovered this music..I am Amazed!!! Great talent, incredible sounds!
Amazing drumming resources with a musicality out of this world. He´s great, and has the rithm so deep inside..
Dennis: "Well, that is a pretty obvious beat, a pretty clear groove... NOT DOIN' IT!"
💯😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Victor gets sounds out of that bass like its another instrument wtf and well mr. Chambers is just a beast no other words
I was actually crying by the end! Beautiful! All were great in their own right, and exponentially awesome together!!!
Literally crying? 🤔
PASIC is the worlds largest collective of drummers that can count to 4.
This was the second time I saw them live. Both times in Indianapolis at The Vogue and then PASIC 2018!! GREAT!!!!
To see dennis smiling in his solo is priceless :-)
The Sensei of Tony Royster...
One of the progenitors of groove.
And then to be so audacious as to have him on stage with Wooten.
This is such an unsafe thing to do, the safety of the world is at risk.
He can hold any groove he has enormous pockets.
Dennis Chambers makes me laugh. He is so good..
Il meglio del meglio!!! Spettacolare! Unico Dennis!
Dennis is amazing! One of the best drummers in the world! I love his way of playing, he is perfection, great! Greetings from Italy👍👍😉🇮🇹🇮🇹

Lucky 7 is a killer track
Impresionante la forma de hacer música, no pude decifrar el compás que interpretan, pero son tremendos los 3. El mejor video musical que haya visto en mucho tiempo. Gracias por publicarlo en RUclips.
That was kool. Dennis was my 1st inspiration in drums and Victor is just a bass beast. Good music.
Finally nice to see this on RUclips! Definitely one of my highlights from PASIC 2018!
Love Dennis!! 🔥🔥🥁😎DC
So glad to see DC doing what he loves and does best! He is one skilled but humble and down-to-earth human soul.
Wow, great to see Dennis back and kicking again and love the way they all muck about with the time signatures, especially on Dennis's solo with him trying to tease and through off Victor in a way. Fab stuff people and well done.
THE BEST IN SHOW!! GORGEOUS AND ESPECTACULAR!!
Pure monsters producing complex thoughts like brushing. Shocking
Sick performance! My Hero that Mr.Chambers is.
That Ride cymbal sounds amazing 🔥🔥
He can make any ride sound amazing. He played an Earth Ride back in the day.
Man, this is killing stuff -- modern, funk, and just way complex. Tight as a rope at a Cirque du Soleil show, and just as pinpoint accurate, while still living in the jazz improve spirt . KUDOS!!
Dennis is still amazing! His groove is deeeep.
Dennis Chambers has the Time Stone. That solo was so nasty
Inspirational! Masters of their instruments!

Literally just read DC's interview from Modern Drummer recently and had to check this out.
Absolute weapon on the drums.
