    I'm no drummer, but guys like this just keep convincing me that you really don't need a million-piece kit... technique, feel and skill alone is all you need, and this guy's got the lot. Great track.

      I'm a little late to the party (about a year after you posted) but if you see this, check out all the videos from "The Fearless Flyers". Nate plays drums with them on a 3-piece kit and it's amazing how he can get all he needs from so little. This dude has so much pocket, he holds everyone else's pockets inside of it!

    • @olsenbunn6134
      @olsenbunn6134 5 лет назад +2

      So much of being a drummer is actually feel. Obviously practice is absolutely imperative but, so much of it is being able to translate feeling and then project that feeling onto a crowd of people. I get chills when that it is done successfully. I love watching Nate because he is just oozing feel and style.

    • @Shankabottomus

      Sure, depends on what music you're playing. This kit would sound like shit behind a metal band.

    The thing I love about Nates drumming in this clip is that he understands when to beat the hell out of the drums, specifically the ride he's using to crash on. When he lays into the cymbal as a crash, it simultaneously reassures me and fills me with doubt (about my own abilities! I hit hard sometimes, and people give me funny looks...) But Nates drumming will do that to you.. Inspire AND humble you

    • @peeeesus
      @peeeesus 2 года назад +3

      Well you also have to take into account what cymbals he’s laying into. Those K Con’s have a terminal volume that’s noticeably lower than your average cymbal. They’re also much darker. So you could hit them with a baseball bat and (assuming they don’t crack) they’re going to be felt rather than heard. Nate is a master of tone selection.

    sickest save i’ve heard in my life. at around 8 minutes the keyboardist mistakes the count in for them moving to a different section of a song for moving into bounce part 2. he plays the first 3 chords of part 2, realizes no ones with him, and then adds a really cool lick that brings it back to the key he’s supposed to be in
