When I was 15 years old my drum tutor invited me to his home to sit and watch this video. My life changed! I then started studying 15 hours a day. Dennis is a true master. Thank you Dennis for your passion, your love, your respect for your instrument and the desire of the soul to play like you do. I am watching this video 29 years later, that just shows what a huge inspiration this video was to me. 👍🥁👍David Curtis
This is like an early version of the isolated drum tracks. This was the golden age of fusion and funk drumming. Vinnie, Dave, Simon, Chad, Dennis etc. It was a great time to be playing.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dennis after a Mike Stern gig at Jazz Alley in Seattle back in 2008/9 period and he was an utter gentleman. Incredibly unassuming and modest. A true master of his instrument and incredible musician. A wonderful example of how meeting one of your heroes can far exceed your expectations!
That’s the difference between the masters and the professionals. A master will look like it’s nothing and their form is part of them. Dennis Chambers, Carter Beauford, Marco Minneman among other greats are so relaxed with insane chops, power and dynamics, the total package
