Love it how Scofield is between a cramp and seizure trying to read the ant shit he wrote on his staff paper...GREAT ALBUM. I love every single cut on this one!
Now Dennis has been my favorite drummer for decades. But also listen to Johns playing, yes he has a huge vocabulary of jazz chops yada yada, but far more importantly his playing is so rhythmically dynamic and funky. His use of empty space, especially in mid flight solo, say much more than any continual flurry of notes could ever hope to. I wish more players were so aware of time and space.
Happy Me Yeah overtime I’d have to agree I think John Scofield is better now, I think it was because Guthrie was new to me at the time and had me excited
@@richardaaron4454 Yes. I play Jazz rock and have been playing guitar for nearly 40 years. The new style of guitarists are great but tend to be "straight ahead" The 3 guitarists that have influenced me so much are Hendrix, Holdsworth and Scofield, who can play straight ahead too as in his early work with Miles. But he also chooses such beautiful lead and chordal phrasings plus the fact and most important is that he swings too! I've met him on 4 occasions. A great man! 😎
Happy Me Yeah I play guitar and drums myself, I’m more of a jazz and prog rock drummer and more of a classical music and metal guitarists. I know how weird that sounds but I love nylon string classical guitars, acoustic guitars and also playing metal and prog metal on electric guitars. Scofield and Holdsworth are some of my top favorites too but then I really look up to someone like Tony Iommi for those powerful catchy dark riffs.
Dennis Chambers literally isn't a human being. He is a fucking robot of some sort I swear to God he is not possible and what he does isn't possible either
Aylbdr Madison you have a point he just is very good at imitating one. In all honesty I have absolutely no idea how the hell someone can get that incredibly fast at playing or doing anything. It seems practically impossible.
This was Scofield's best band, PERIOD.
These famous cats are at their top games . Sincerity, Simplicity and Soulfulness

That is so funny and right. He's like, damn I wrote this shit.
This VHS was my Digital musical Bible for at least three years of High School!!
Ditto. I got to meet Gary Grainger randomly and I did a little “I’m not worthy” bow. Nice guy.
This old video was one of my first musical influences. Wonderful stuff. I'll always love this!
10:16 is that fastest switch from traditional to matched grip I have ever seen. Unreal.

He's one of a kind... One of my favorite guitarists to be sure. I think Guthrie Govan is even better though.
@@richardaaron4454 Guthrie is a great guitarist but a bit too one dimensional for me! I do love "Fives" though!

This is another level!
The Legendary Quartet from Warsaw 1986!
The end of Time Marches On is unbelievable.

Groove, funk, blues and soul are all unattainable by machines.
What makes Dennis great is that he does what no machine can do.
