That was interesting regarding the garage door protection. I had an identical door to replace my old Henderson fitted last year and I noticed after your video they had left that strip on mine also. It covers the two drainage holes so the water will rust its way out. Thank you!

The letter box at the bottom of the door, is that still allowed? Against building regs in Ireland since 2000, has to be a minimum distance from the nearest step to the door.
Hellway Homes strikes again, can tell with the key ring on the front door and the skirting boards etc. Hellway are terrible. See with the stepping of the brickwork, what’s the guidelines? Our base course below door openings is pretty bad.

I bought a Newland home 4 years ago, the quality of the finish on hand over was shocking, and there are still problems today.
That block paving is everywhere and it's the absolute worst. Looks horrendous after 5 years+ of exposure to the British climate.

The fascia on the apex has been fitted incorrectly. It needs to run the full length of the apex, not cut short as it has been (too short at that). I’ve never seen that before - ever.

What happens if you take ownership of the property and you spot all these issues? Do the builders have to fix them?
For all the slagging off of site managers being useless it's not always the case and the ones ive worked with have recalled all trades and snagged a property over and over and for those who don't know ( unless the regulations have changed) when doing a final interior inspection of finishing, decorating etc it has to be done from a minimum of 2 metres and in natural light and if daylight is poor its permitted to use 1 small light so not every single blemish or item can be detected unless you're standing 6 inches away from the area being inspected.
That is just the final inspection though, site managers should be inspecting at all steps of the process. This snagging inspection is about getting compensation needed or work rectified. They are not useless it's more that some of them might miss stuff, others might see things and just completely ignore them.
Can all the new builds and bricks withstand earthquake tremors or wmd? 😅 Most of the new bricks look brittle and sorry to say looks cheap unlike in older properties.
how do the fix brickwork problems, do they have to knock the wall down and redo it?
I always wondered this. Although I suspect they say its not such a big deal so live with it, especially if people have already signed on the dotted line
you can remove "some" brickwork out of the wall and redo it but if its around the whole property like it seems most likely will be a deal with it we will give a small refund for bad work.

Why is the state of new builds so bad, why is it allowed to happen and is anything being done to sort it out. It's disgraceful and they should be ashamed! No one has pride in their work anymore and companies don't care because they make money.

One of biggest issues nowadays is that builders use their building guarantees as a form of insurance to cover their poor workmanship and play the odds game relative to build cost…

So what do you want the developer to do with that negligible step on the lover brickwork?? Acro everything up and relay the whole to bottom course.....?
And the render?? Is it structurally sound yes. Can you see a run out if you really look yes ok, what do you want? A full re render???

Youv now told a new homeowner that the brick work and render needs substantial work when it doesn't. They now think they've brought an awful house when it's not.
It's not the new homeowners problem, it is for the property developer to fix. The amount of stuff that are not big things all add up, when something has issues it needs to be fixed. That is why these guys exist, to find faults before they become something bigger. If you buy anything and it has a problem it needs to be rectified, especially when it costs hundreds of thousands to buy it.
@ells5656 Spot on. Would be nice if everyone done their jobs properly and took pride in their work rather than cutting corners and doing half arsed jobs, but it's easy to see why it happens with the amount of pressure they're under to get it done as quick and cheap as possible
