Pendullums sucks.. This makes the game no thrill and non strategic.. Its more worth it to see monsters zone filled by hard consistent strategies than relying on this pendulums.. I play this game since 2003 and when i found about this new stuff, im so dismayed..
I have a friend with an alternate theory: A bet to see who can make the most OP cards gone out of control. It started with Wind-Ups and their no-hand loop; next came the Dragon Rulers and Spellbook of Judgment; and now Pendulums are the next iteration.
DoesNotExist305 Remember when Two-Headed King Rex and Basic Insect pumped up with Insect Armor w/ Laser Cannon were considered boss monsters in the Anime? Neither do I...
DoesNotExist305 Azn eyes with that sepent thing is like... infinite attack OP! exodia infinite attack! and the konami is like btch plese torrential tribute XD
Guys don't call yugioh over because of pendulum summoning just yet... 1. Remember all the people calling the same thing on Synchros and Xyz 2. These require a LOT of MAIN deck devotion 3. Way less consistent than Xyz and Synchros (As of right now) 4. Costs two cards from your hand to start, then requires hand advantage for it to be useful 5. Helps slower and older decks more than newer already fast decks 6. Pendulum summoning is MASSIVELY countered by TT/bottomless (There goes your whole hand) It won't break the game, guys. Not as of right now, anyway. Please take a moment to think about the mechanic as a whole and its effect on the game before you make a judgment on it.
People are overreacting. You got that board set up because your opponent decided to Special Summon for days under Maxx C which allowed you to get a bunch of stuff in your hand. Sure, Pendulum Summoning allows you to take advantage of that large hand more readily, but what if you're dealing with a normal sized one? You'll drop maybe 2 or 3 monsters at best, and then you're left with playing the top-decking game. Not to mention any traps at all will disrupt your play entirely and leave you defenseless. TLDR: Calm the * * * * down, people.
***** its based off a shounen manga of cause the game is gonna get broken. what i dont get is why they dont support the weaker decks. ojama support! why the fuck not give it a push, its funny and pretty famous. not to mention its monster zone sealing eff is always good.
weaker being a very relative term. all those decks you mentioned were tier 1 if not 0 at one point(i think. i dont follow that stuff) ojamas. koalas. roids. gambling decks. more rituals these are decks that need it. well they could lengthen the life cycle of the cards by strengthening decks rather than creating a new archetype every 6 months. would ojamas ever be a viable deck? i doubt it. but they can help it out with a one or two cards that support the current cards out there. instead of keeping effing judgement dragon at the top for so bloooooody looooong.(i hate that card)
I think that in a few months, they will create another archetype that is more broken than Pendullum, and so, go on. Yugioh is just getting more broken, i wish they support more old decks and create new ones that are different from the old ones but on the same "level" you know.
I don't know about you guys, but I head a lot of people saying how players don't like to adapt to new mechanics Konami adds to this game. IE people complained about syncrhos, then XYZs, now this. I was one of those people, but not because I hated the mechanics, but because I knew that they'd completely push the old mechanics out of existance. I'm cool with synchros, but when why did they stop having to make fusion and ritual monsters? Then when XYZs came out, they made synchroing unviable instead of making new synchros that could compete with the XYZs. Forcing people to use the new stuff by outcasting the old stuff just makes everyone have the same decks, which is not fun.
They JUST made Shadolls with two Fusion boss monsters (and boy all the card advantage you get out of that). No, really, Shadoll Fusion has proven rather amazing for me. Let your opponent Xyz all he wants and then fusion summon out of your deck for the lulz. I swear they've made a ritual at some point in the last year, though I might be wrong. They did start a whole archetype that supports Ritual summons around the Stardust Overdrive pack's time at least. *checks wiki* Ah, right. Paladin of Photon Dragon. That thing's a ritual. ZeXal era. I guess there are effect monster centric decks too, but I guess that doesn't really qualify with how many things count as effect monsters >_< Overall, I agree that the ye olde stuff has been mostly pushed out of the picture by much faster and more spammable summon methods, but Konami hasn't abandoned them completely . . . heck Shadoll is a self-milling-reliant anti-special summon Fusion-based archetype, would you look at that.
If you can't take out simple spell cards then maybe you should change your playing style. Let us just sit down and talk about this. Whenever a new type of monster comes out this always happens. Everyone thought synchro decks were op, and now most have junk warrior and Black Rose Dragon planted firmly in their extra deck. We thought Xyz was op, and now most players with the right combo can bring out 5 or more monsters in 1 to 3 turns depending on skill level. You just have to adapt your deck. Learn and correct the flaws, and the more full proof the better.
the only way I would see them becoming fair is if they change the ruling of pendulums to only be able to pendulum summon pendulum monsters. it would make it a lot more fair, and make it so that you would wouldn't be able to pendulum summon in the early game.
Doing this right now is crap. Most best Decks aren't even with pendulums card (expect Majepals). It would be smarter to make a rule that crap like monarchs aren't allowed. Your Choice though.
I would have preferred to see syncro-xyz somoning first. Cards using xyz mosters as syncro material, and the syncro monster has the cards used and any cards overlayed to those cards used as monsters overlayed for the syncro xyz monster.
next series of Yu-Gi-Oh! will be "WIN THE FUCK OUT OF EVERYTHING GGXZZTR00" with moster effects that inflicts 10^9 life points everytime you blink, spell cards that choke your enemy to death and Trap cards that set nuclear bombs under your enemy's seat and activate when he/she breaths PLUS no limit in cards what SO FUCKING EVER!! YEEAAHHH THE NEW FUCKING YUGIFUCKINGOH!
Spell cards that creates Wormholes in Yu-Gi-Oh! Physics then explode creating 30^10 supernovae in 30^10 different parallel universes Trap cards that break the Laws of Physics, breaks the Laws that break the Laws of Physics, Burns them, Then dances on the ashes Monsters that transform and change effects 32 times a second
It's not broken... It's rather weak TBH, It's not that hard to interfere with a pendulum summon... Anyone who thinks this is broken must suck at the game :/
not broken, its a small boost to monarchs. S.M.A.L.L. Pendulum requires luck. But btw, those who think they can just botomless and win game, I always pack 3 trap stuns, 3 dark bribe and 3 wiretap and 2 Jinzo in my pendulum decks. I also side royal decree so. Want more? Mst, (funny the thing that can kill pendulums can also help) Tyrant's temper (requires 1 tribute but your monsters are unaffected by traps.) Seven tools of the bandit If they summon monarchs they can kill your traps. (Kuraz, Raiza, Caius)
+Blagaflaga Same here. I used to play when xyz and syncro weren't arount, then i stopped playing for a few years and when i came back i quickly adapted to them, but Pendullums are just broken. Might even stop playing again becouse of them
DarkTitan That is why I run a fluffal deck at the moment, I love how there are still decks that use polymerization and fusions. When the new red eyes support drops that is gonna be my main though, I still have my first red eyes from the joey starter deck I got all those years ago.
NeovisionX Nice. I'm planning on doing Red-Eyes when the support comes out as well, but it'll be my backup deck. I like my Dustons against my friends XD I might also try Toons. The new cards will hopefully help me make them way better
I understand why they took away the draw phase for whoever goes first now. Because you get to set up, then player 2 sets up, then player one pushes with pendulums and goes for game, then player 2 (now starting one card ahead) has more opportunity to stop the push and push next turn. Player one is still rewarded if their deck is better, but most games will be decided in 4-5 turns with pendulums.
So now let player 2 push for game instead? lol. Still say pendulums are so overhyped. If you go in for a pendulum related play there is so much backrow that will just say "you lose"
Konami is pretty much saying "Here's an extra card for going second. If you cant handle the pendulum vomit on turn 3 then you were going to lose regardless." I was worried pendulums were overhyped but with stuff like odd-eyes sangan dragon I know it's going to take over the game.
TheTCGLover It's almost certainly going to be limited (search effect, double damage, AND lvl 7?!?). That or every other pendulum monster will have to be 1600 atk to avoid both the search and extreme abuse of their high atk through the summoning mechanic (though it is HIGHLY unlikely).
TheTCGLover Then you run into BTH, solemn, blackhorn of heaven, torrential or the likes and rage. I have played against the deck a few times and any backrow just causes them to rage quit. I am sure that every video of them winning was just cherry picked from the respective yugituber to make them look good.
Pendulums are broken.. the only people who think it isn't are in denial. Konami really messed up with this one.. The lamest part is, even if they die, THEY COME RIGHT BACK the next turn! Like, who thought this was a good idea??!?
See, if they got banished if they leave the field after you Pendulum them from the Extra Deck, then it would be not as bad. But the fact that you can just keep summoning them back from the Extra Deck is pretty broken in my opinion. If they made that a rule, I think it would fix Pendulums. It wouldn't ruin them, and it would make them more balance, as well as make you play more carefully instead of constant Extra Deck re-spamming them.
Guys you want to know my honest opinion? I really dislike yugioh the way it is now. I mean I never liked synchro summon to begin with. But this pendulum summon is just absurd. Remember the good old days when you work hard to summon a blue eyes and not do massive special summon swarms and cheap effects like crazy that just control the entire field with just 2 or 3 cards like now? It's why cards like Change of Heart, Raigeki, Last Will and Graceful Charity are banned because those cards can be instant win now in days but back then they were just really useful cards that just turn the tables but never really an instant win. From 1st generation to GX is the most fun in my opinion. XYZ I can sorta accept but a couple of issues. That's it. Old Yugioh was really fun, that's all I gotta say lol, that doesn't mean I'll stop playing yugioh of course, I'm just not going to support a new series that just makes the game more less fun each time, featuring a completely different playing style and forced to play it just to be competitive or up to certain standards, which also happens in some weird way make the game even more easier to do things you want to do just to beat the previous generation style of playing. Like what were they thinking? Oh yes, marketing of course... -_-
Mega Giga Bowser those fuckers just keep coming back when they are destroyed. It's not like you can send them to the graveyard so that the opponent actually has to make some effort to bring them back. No, they are sent to the fucking extra deck. WHY KONAMI? And cheap rank 4 xyz ruined the game (Ophion\101\exciton....)
THIS. HAS. RUINED. YUGIOH. We are currently in the best format we have had for literally years and now this garbage is going to ruin it :( WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING
Pendulums are really powerful...especially Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon is really good considering it can come back every turn if you have Astromancy and Chronomancy Magician in the Pendulum Zones....but at the same time...Pendulums are not exactly consistent yet, require quite a lot of resources and they are also vulnerable..because you need to have them both on the field constantly to be able to Pendulum Summon.. It does make certain decks kinda broken, but this also helps to make older decks playable....I,m testing Pendulums with Red-Eyes currently and it works pretty decently....
Me and wife play without pendulum monsters. We were around when the only booster pack was Legend of Blue Eyes. We're cool with Synchro and XYZ but this just ruins a good back and fourth game.
Cool story bro. So was i back in those days....but life changes, as does this card game. Pretending you didnt shit your pants, doesnt make the shit go away, from running down your leg. Pendulums are still there. Table top yugioh, is like playing monopoly...no one cares
HATE how they all go to extra deck when destroyed. It's like having an extra hand on top of your regular hand. Dude brings out all his monsters I torrential them. BUT GUESS WHAT?! they're coming back the very next turn unless i destroy that scale. Especially when Towers was legal. Almost impossible to stop that guy unless you had the right cards. If they didn't all go to extra deck when they were destroyed I wouldnt have as much a problem with them
+William Davis I highly recommend using Monarchs then, epsically with the new structure deck coming out for them next month. There's a Field Spell now that stops your opponent from summoning from their extra deck if you control a monster that was tribute summoned.
lol and a year later the only pendulums to have done anything are qlis, and the pendulum mechanic wasnt even really what made them broken. i still maintain that rank 4 spam is the most broken part of the game. in general xyz is the mechanic that has too much going for it.
One of the things that DevPro's got wrong is that you can't Pendulum Summon monsters from both your Extra Deck and your hand in the same turn. One thing I've noticed through all my testing is that people don't seem to realize that getting rid of Pendulum Spells stops the summons. It also feels like more of an OCG thing, since they still have Heavy. It's definitely going to shake up the game more than I anticipated. Also, were you saying "three" or "free" monsters? Because Pendulum is any number once per turn. Which, maybe because of my playstyle, I've never really used to summon anything except for Odd-Eyes.
Azn, you do know that there are so many cards where one single card will make you go -7 when you go all in on the pendulum summon, right? torrential, bottomless, black horn of heaven, solemn warnin... and so many cards that easily take out the pendulum monster to stop the special summon from even happening? Or, yknow, monsters, like exciton knight, 101 can steal anything they summon etc. etc. etc. It will most likely cause a meta-shift, yes, but that doesn't make it broken for now.
I have a feeling sylvans might get their own pendulum monsters (a turtle with one counter and a dragon with 8, completing that chinese group thing of tiger/bird/turtle/Dragon), that way we'll have a way to summon hermitree (and others) without blessing or miracle fertilizer...
I say make all the pendulum monsters limited. I'll see people run decks with multiple Pendulum Dragons and it just pisses me off that everyone takes the luck and the fun out of drawing what you need. When they start running multiple cards that let you pull from the deck, THAT'S what breaks the game. So to the pendulum users, I run a pendulum deck myself, but when you put 3 Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragons in your decks, that's when I start to reconsider. So tl;dr: Konami should make all the pendulum monsters limited. That way, it won't be AS broken as when people run multiple copies of pendulum searchers.
Well if pendulum decks start topping like nuts then perhaps just hit the most insane ones. The worst i have seen are qlipoths and those arent even doing anything in the ocg. If anything, pendulum decks need support.
I have one word in response: Bujin Well, I know I'm going over my one-word limit, but when you have a deck that has the potential to run a total of seven Honests, you better bring Prohibition and Mind Crush. My Qliphoths are on a losing record against the AI's Bujin deck. Also, limiting Qliphoths to 1 each would literally kill the deck all-out. It won't nerf the deck, it won't balance it, the deck just literally won't exist due to the fact that every Qliphoth monster keeps you from special summoning anything that isn't a Qliphoth monster, with the exception of Qliphoth Tool. There's no point in running anything that isn't a Qliphoth - even Giant Rat can't search for them due to every Qliphoth being a high-attack high-level monster or Qliphoth Tool, which shouldn't really be on the field anyway and is the main searcher of the deck. I'd say Qliphoth Tool, Shell and Disk to 2 and don't touch Archive or Genome. Otherwise Qliphoths won't even exist as a deck.
nether lander Thing is, you normally don't summon those first few pendulums - you activate them and put them in the pendulum zones. At that point, it's pendulum summon after pendulum summon after pendulum summon. Of course, every Qliphoth is a pendulum monster and I've not really messed around with any of the non-Qliphoth pendulums, so the constant Pendulum summoning may specifically be a Qliphoth thing...
No offense but calm down those pendulum summons aren't as perfect as you think, if you stop to think about it you just went up against a guy who practically didn't have ANY staples obviously and you had 1 scrap dragon to go against, there's many ways the pendulum thing could've gone wrong, considering now a days people have back row for days, still though nice way to test them out but don't get ahead of yourself! :)
Quasars not hard to summon as is (quickdraw, Lv eater, Explorer, plenty of variations to it too), and since it is IMPOSSIBLE to summon a lv1 monster (the tuner for formula).... and quasar takes a minimum base of 6 monsters unless you summon stuff before hand and rez them "plain stupid" is a good way to put it, if your bothering with Psummons, you'd get more milage out of either xyzs a swarm of ranks 4-6s, or synchros of varies ranges. Quasar would take the whole summon (and given the levels of the current pendulum monsters, "P summon all the mats back" isnt a thing)
What happened to good old Yugioh with Chaos decks and Destruction decks and old classic play. Not shit like this? The images of the new cards are not even unique? RIP best childhood trading card game ever :/
The reason pendulum summoning is already inherently broken is because 1. It's not a minus 2, the pendulum still have effects in the pendulum zone so it's a +0 2. Pendulum summoning let you summon any amount of monsters from your extra deck, as long as your pendulum is destroyed you just get another +1 your next pendulum summon 3. It pretty much negates the high level tribute restriction 4. These are just the first 5 pendulum monsters, there will be far better ones later on 5. It's once per turn. Simply summon odd eyes (and any other pendulum) from your extra every turn for free
***** Hearthstone still is less shitty then this game's current state. At least it is balanced XD. And I would rather play a online game then spend a bunch of money on pieces of paper who will soon be useless. I don't know what you will say, but it will probably involve some fanboying and you whining that yugioh will remain constant...
Jake Mills I haven'w watched one in a while. I saw "pendulum" and didn't know what it is, so I assumed it was the new season's mechanic, and wanted to see if it would be OP... looks like it pretty much is
here are some ideas to try and help fix the game: -you may only pendulum summon one monster per turn -if a pendulum monster that was previously pendulum summoned from the extra deck would be sent from the field to the graveyard, it is sent to the graveyard instead of the extra deck -you may only activate one pendulum card as a spell card per turn
agree mate ive played pendulum and they need alot of time to be set and you cant really summon 5 monsters in same time(my best number has been2) i mean this was just a boring duel quasar player misplayed alot
pendulums are already op Ive gone plus 10 on turn 3 and you can do it by turn 4 most games if you want me to explain the plus 10 combo just reply to this
unit900000 depends on the deck :) ive managed to pull only 2 with my current decks cuz you know traps and spells are a thing in the game :P maybe that guy saved all his recources for only a big push
You guys don't realize that yugioh was broken whenever they introduced not only archetypes, but premade archetype decks. "send this card to your graveyard from your hand to go through your deck and special summon as many of your highest level ARCHETYPE monsters as you can, shit in your hand then smear it upon your competition, for you have won the game."
Gotta agree with that. Cards had more vague effects that let you splash them together that had more to do with the attack, defense, attribute and type. Now it is so linear everyone pulls the same combos because that is how it was created. The joy is finding that one combo you love and using it from the cards you got. Making a deck out of different archetypes is kinda fun (I got a Healing Wave Generator who gives you 100 life points equal to the level of a monster you control and combined it with Gagaga Magician who can change his level to any level from 1 to 8. Also added Fortune Ladies who gain a level every turn for maximum effect) but it just isn't the same as making your own from completely unrelated cards.
Pendulum summoning does seem broken, but it's kinda a double-edged sword. Yes, it allows you summon a bunch of powerful monsters in one turn, but it would also cause you to deck out faster.
lol sorry how is this broken? Looks insanely inconsistant and minus and easy to stop. He let you plus and then set nothing. Madolches are already better than this and so are mermails and hieratics.
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE SEES THAT you are literally the first person i have found that understood that before i had to explain it. and you can deal with it the same way you deal with ANY generic swarm, biggest monster on your field and backrow to keep it that way. Odd eyes is the only p monster that can come back again and again and actually be a threat....as much as of a threat that a 25ATK monster can be (1 Dprison, and its gone...srsly, just treat it like machina fortress, but less deadly)
ayy lmao. Ya like a single mst gives your opp a dead card and completely stops them. His combo wasn't even that good. And somehow ppl think this is broken.
From what I've seen so far, to make pendulum summoning overpowered, you need to maintain a large hand. And since it's once per turn you have to summon everything at once, so solemn warning, torrential tribute, bottomless trap hole and steelswarm roach do horrible things to pendulum summons. Anti-spell fragrance is also a thing if people don't like it.
pendulum isn't that broken, it takes alot of set up and not every deck has enough tool boxing to get the full benefit of pendulum. i ha a game i opened 1 odd eyes 1 of each magician and 2 spells that didnt help. so yea it all depends on how well you draw unless you have a toolbox crazy deck.
So one of the ff. method can be use to counter this method. 1. Use card/s that banishes opponent cards in the field. 2. Use card/s that destroys monsters that is/are special summon. 3. Use card/s that target specific card on the hand or negates summoning from extra deck. 4. Fuse method 1 and 2.
This assumes that people complaining about pendulum monsters get to the point of thought where they actually think about counterplay. Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain most of them will be stuck on butthurt complain mode for a while before any thinking is done.
Okay, so PenSummons require some setup, arguably more setup than other Summons. But they recycle themselves to the Extra Deck to be summoned whenever they're destroyed. They allow literally any deck to swarm for no downside once setup. And they also have those PenEffs which are extremely powerful. However, it will take a format or two for these to actually be splashed in other decks. Currently, not many decks can make the most efficient, most consistent use of them. This will change when we get more of them though.
TL;DR Pendulum summoning isn't fun for anyone.GX was cool but didn't do that much to add to the series. 5ds was cool with its Synchros which was like a cool new fusion summon for people that never seemed to get polymerisation in any pack whatsoever (me), but, y'know, card games on motercycles. Zexal looked questionable at first but when you looked into the xyz summoning it actually wasn't that bad. In fact it was cool how you would attach them instead of sending them to the graveyard so it felt like you could summon a megazord. And then Arc V happened. This is confusing, unbalanced, annoying and generally just not cool. When I play Yu-Gi-Oh, I want to get all my pieces on the board to be able to summon this huge monster and protect it from spells and traps, while removing my opponent's monsters and trying to summon something else with limited resources. With Pendulum summoning, it's basically all done for me. I don't need to work to summon out a big thing, I can just SS it. I don't need to protect it, just SS it again from the extra deck. I don't need to get more monster out, I can SS as many as I want. There aren't limited resources, when I dump my hand I don't need to refill it because it just goes straight to the extra deck where I can SS them again. And it's so immpossible to counter so you just insta-win. Good job Konami.
Ewan Philip no one liked 5ds lmao at least arc-v was watchable regardless of the summoning method... well at least season 2 and a bit of season 3 for the most part i also dont get why people liked season 1, oh by the way there are new cards built to counter special summons specifically pendulums and also raidraptors basically are pendulum's bane just rise falcon can gain atk of every monster and can atk all ss summoned monsters, blaze falcon can attack directly and destroy all enemy monsters dont get me started on other decks and yes ii pendulums can go to the extra deck to be ss
Yeah I know the 5ds anime was complete garbage and arc-v is a bit better but I was ranting about the cards themselves. This was probably a poorly conceived arguement anyway. ;D
Considering Pends can SS A Whole Board worth of monsters for basicly 0 Cost it is pretty OP As fuck, Take Lightsworn or any other deck they have a Cost to SS onto the whole board and such The Thing about Pends as well? Well you Mirror forced? I'll just RE-SS Eveything the VERY Next Turn So Mirror Force isnt realy good, IF you can OTK Them well they can always have say Swift or something
I started Yu-Gi-Oh in February,I've learned so much and I have a passion for Yu-Gi-Oh and Football,I've only dualed 4 times but I find it fun and now I want pendulum monsters cause I'm running a synchro deck
if you ask me pendelum is nor op or weak its actually just normal the most pendelum monsters have only use in an own deck issue or have other greate nerfs also instead of xyz which made fusion useless this summon way actually bring ballenceing back
Yu-Gi-Oh! Is different to MTG and Pokémon. But this Pendulum Summoning is turning it into both of these games. I am going to swerve Pendulum summoning and stick with The summon we have right now. Unless i keep losing and think it could be used to my advantage
Think of it this way. I go first in Japan so I only have 5 cards starting. If I play 2 Pendulums I have 3 cards and I then swarm the field. My opponent Solemns. I have no cards in hand=GG. They aren't broken in the hands of most players. They are only broken when in the hands of a very ingenious and skilled player.
I'm just seeing the same reactions as I saw when synchros and XYZ were first introduced, and now everyone's fine with those besides the Gen 1 purists. Pendulum isn't all that broken considering very few decks can use them well and the scale is extremely easy to destroy, just use MST or, depending on what deck you run, Icarus Attack (it's what I use since one of my main decks is Blackwings). BTW, 1 year later and Odd-Eyes is still here and still at 3.
+Ryanmiller70 The reason for the reactions isn't Gen 1 purists, it's people noticing power-creep and not knowing what it is or how to phrase it. I know the internet hates anecdotal evidence, but I am a game designer. I worked on Steel Sentinels back in the day and helped do some tweaking to newer games like Phantom Redux. When it comes to game designing multiplayer games, there is an issue known as Power Creep(abbreviated to PC for simplicity). PC is what happens when over time in-game abilities, attacks, or cards in this case gain more power over time. For anyone designing a multiplayer game that needs longevity like Yugioh, Magic the Gathering, or Hearthstone, PC is your worst enemy and your greatest nightmare. Entire games have been destroyed by it, including Tyrant, Twistings, etc.. But the point is this: in the original Gen 1 Yugioh, power for each individual card was substantially lower than it is now due to power creep. Many cards did not have effects back then, and many spells/traps were locked to the power level set by Mystical Space Typhoon. When synchros were added, however, the amount of cards and the number of turns it took to get out powerful monsters was cut nearly in half. In Gen 1, It took at least 2 turns to get out a fusion monster, and that's with the most optimal hand available. Even in Gen 2, we could see the beginnings of power creep with Cyber Dragon. When synchros came out in Gen 3, you could easy get a 2k+ attack/defense monster out on the first turn. From there, things just got worse. Monster effects destroyed more cards, spells searched the deck MUCH more often for specific pieces to your combo, and traps could outright destroy players turns. The value of cards went up significantly over time, to the point where the only cards from the base set that are even usable today are the cards that were insanely broken back then. Now, in Gen (5-7, I can't keep track at this point) PC has completely overtaken the game, with monsters that can act as spells/equips, and the ability to get multiple powerful cards on the field on the first turn alone. PS: Do not take me for a First Generation purist. The original game was also full of game imbalances and issues so numerous it would take 15 pages of solid writing and a few weeks of research to fully quantify.
YouLancarnate And then there's the occasions where they'll SOMETIMES go to the graveyard... and the fact that these are cards with two sets of effects... and multiple game mechanics. I think it's the complexity of it all that's gonna spoil the fun for me. As if Xyz and Synchros hadn't done enough of that, already. :~/
Watch them change it so that pendulums only go to the extra when "destroyed"(not when used as a synchro material or whatever else). I remember the hype with sangan and getting his effect when detached as an xyz material. It's happened before and will probably happen with these.
I've been ranting about this broken thing since the info was just released months ago, and I understand where both sides are coming from. Yes, if you run cards like Warning or even Giant Trap Hole you can completely destroy your opponent. At the same time that is a reason to not run them in the first place/they take a bit to set up. Think of the decks that will benefit from them. Gadgets and Monarchs are the top in my mind. Replenish hand so even if they do screw you over you can do it again next turn, or infinite tribute fodder. This will always be a fail in my book.
Monarchs don't really benefit from it due to the fact that their tribute triggers will not activate. That is the main reason why people use Monarchs in the first place. Now if you're trying to talk about a Level 6 Swarm deck, you're better off using the Hazy Flame argument.
That's too much setup. I'd still rather use Treeborn, CyDra, Soul Exchange and the like to trib for Monarchs than waste my time adding Pendulum Monsters into the deck. They take away too much consistency from Monarchs.
It's a double-edged sword. It allows some of the older decks to get some of the speed they need to work consistently. Unfortunately, it also just speeds up decks that were fast to begin with.
This new play mechanic seems pretty cool, I'm definitely looking forward to trying this out when the new starter deck is released over here later this year. ;)
Pendulum Monsters are Kind of Balanced because in order for it to work you need hand power and yor extra deck. A monarch deck can easily shut down the extra deck. And if there isnt enough cards in the hand pendulum summoning is weak
I want to know if I used a card like mystical space typhoon or harpie's feather to break the pendulum scale, I know all the monsters and the two used to make the pendulum scale all go to the extra deck. New turn can the other player pull out the two pendulums and replace them in the pendulum zone and just make the say summon? Or after being send there those card not be used for making the scale (only be used as monster not the pendulum spell cards) +Slaydra AznEyes
Parmos Young if you destroy a scale/s,only that scale/s is destroyed but not the pend monsters. you cant replace you scales while they are occupied but you can put new scales if the pendulum zones are free
Specific to pendulum traps like "Pendulum Block" Destroy all pendulum cards on the field. Your opponent's pendulum monsters effects are negated and go to the Graveyard." "Scale Destruction" "Your opponent's Pendulum Cards' Pendulum Scales becomes 1.
I think Pendulums have made the game faster and more attentive to card effects and combo plays. I'm anticipating more Pendulum/XYZ cards and Tuner/Pendulum cards that can make even more plays of cards people never expected to see
It's not broken... A veiler can negate both effects of a pendulum monster, MSTs can kill them. Maxx Cs can take advantage of the mass summoning. Lots of ways to throw them off. Dustons can kill an opponent's field. Ojama's are going to be Tier 1 (depending on how many people decide running pendulums). But this will knock off Frog monarchs (if you run 3 debunk)
Omid Mansour uhm.... yeah it would. If you negate the summon of a monster that was pendulum summoned then that destroys the rest that were summoned along with it.
Then at least structure your sentences better, otherwise I wouldn't have said that. No need to act like a butt hole because someone misread your post :P
ripppking Synchro Summoning was a cool idea and that was way after I stopped. They never had a great idea to use levels really well besides tribute summoning until synchro with adding levels. Although I didn't play it, the rules were nice and it wasn't as broken as being able to summon as many monsters as possible.
+Isaiah Quidilla i really like the synchros(currently playing a psychic deck). mainly because they are simmilar to the v-z fusion monsters. it helps to get strong monsters out but is still limitet to the normal summoning rules. unlike all the new stuff which is just op bullshit. and all good cards which could win against the new types are getting limitet or banned one after the other.
metalpyromon cuz u would have to think of combinations of cards to be able to take down what ur opponent throws at you, sometimes you would have to think of them on the spot. You couldn't just summon a powerful monster whenever u wanted to take out ur opponent easily. Original fans who had STRATEGY skills wouldn't need "cheat codes" like synchro and pendulum summoning to win. The problem is not that the OP can adapt to pendulum summoning, the problem is that EVERYONE can and even someone with an IQ of a rock could win with pendulum summoning. Before Synchros, you pretty much had to be a genius or at least near genius to win in a yugioh duel ... and that was the fun part.
So you can say don't go to ygo community cuz we act like children cuz we can't adapt is not that I'm just saying that is not fun no more buck then when I use to dual it last at lest and hour of play and now u can win with only one move that just take the fun that all I'm saying longer dual equal a lot of fun
Marko Radetić Everything in life generally, for example Google Plus Bullsh!t lol. always happens when introducing something new. Pendulum summoning btw is not broken in my opinion but makes the game faster and opens many ways to OTK...like we need that right?!
I personally thought the game was significantly better when it had a slower pace. I can't stand how it's now just a game to see who can OTK their opponent the fastest.
"No, Synchro Summons will ruin the game!" "No, Exceed Summons will ruin the game!"... This is just the newest Doomsayer Cause. Pendulum Summons are double-edged, remember. If you dont game that turn, you have no hand and little chance to recoup. In time, there will be stuff to stop the swing (Get it? A Pendulum Arm swings? Ok, Ill show myself out now...), just like how thy did it with Synchros, Exceeds and more. Wait, they have something for that already, its called Summon Limit. Sure, it cant stop you from dumping youre hand but you cant use more than 2 for another special. In time their will be more to stop or hinder the swing, but Pendulum is FAR from the worst thing Konami has done.
Mega Giga Bowser Right, sorry. If Im going to use the Japanese name, I should say its name in Japanese right? Ok, then "エクシーズしょうかん will ruin the game!" "X召喚 will ruin the game!" "Ekushizu Shokan will ruin the game!". How about Chinese since they also use Exceed instead of XYZ? ?"超量召喚 will ruin the game!" "Chaoliang Zhaohuan will ruin the game!". PS: Yes, I had to use a translator to copy/paste the Japanese/Chinese characters but the English written parts should be correct though might be missing a special character or two in them.
Konami forgot that they don't need a new summoning system for every fucking new anime series they started up. I mean they could have invested time and resources making more support for ritual/fusion based decks/new archtypes. Now we have some clunky ass summoning system that you can just OTK with whenever.
Implying that Rituals and Fusions aren't clunky already? Why bother to try revive an old already clunky system when you can increase the viability of all slow decks with a single mechanic?
TalonProgramming i hope you understand that pendulum summoning ruins the game of yugioh.AznEyes understands that, why cant you. Its a stupid mechanic that make every deck spams monsters like dragon rulers every freaking turn. No skill is required for this mechanic once its set on the field
You can just build a deck around it and it'll give you access to spamming monsters on the board. It's more likely than not going to be exploited by already consistent decks that use high level cards. Mermails with supply unit and pendulum summoning and also Scraps work fairly well with it. It'll just speed up the game further more and lead to a lot of dumb plays and OTKs. It's not even an interesting combo, it's just "Oh let me search for one of the pendulums I need to set up the scale. Now I just have to draw into it which I can do easily based off running X & Y cards or I also have the option of drawing the other searcher."
***** "Its a stupid mechanic that make every deck spams monsters like dragon rulers every freaking turn." There are so many things wrong with this, I don't even know where to begin. Firstly, what exactly is so bad about giving slower decks a method of being faster? This makes it so that it isn't the same 2 decks controlling the entire format because they're 100% faster than everything else. Onto factual points, people still don't understand why dragon rulers were broken and why pendulum summons do not fall under the same category. Dragon Rulers had many unique issues: A: Too many Special Summons B: Consistency is unmatched C: Cards from Graveyard are just as alive as in your hand (Low risk, high reward) D: Summoning let you go plus (Super rejuv, banishing for dragon ruler effs searching other dragons Now let's look at pendulums: A: Sure, too many Special Summons from one mechanic B: Requires having minimum 2 cards in your hand as pendulum monsters, any less lets you not pendulum summon, any more means you're not drawing the main engine of your deck. They cause a lot of consistency issues and require EXTREME dedication in the main deck to them. Azneyes drew well in ONE video... So what? C: Pendulum summoning is ONLY FROM YOUR HAND. This means that TT, Bottomless, needle ceiling, dark hole, ect., will result in no pendulum summoning fodder left. Pendulum summoning can leave you with no cards in hand and no cards on field. It's high risk, high reward. D: Pendulum summons make you go minus. It just lets you unload your advantage onto the field, but nothing more.
TalonProgramming basically your're saying it ok for every deck to spam monsters. Yugioh was not designed to be that way. everyone knows why dragon rulers where broken. even with all the cards banned like super rejuv they are still a big threat in the hieratics. so no need to point out the obvious smarty. Now lets point out why your "They cause a lot of consistency issues and require EXTREME dedication in the main deck to them.Azneyes drew well in ONE video... So what?" statement is wrong. Any low tier deck (like scraps or blackwings) dedicated to the pendulum shenanigans can easily make it consistent. All you gotta do is add 3 reckless greeds and 3 upstarts and some Odd-eyes to search them out. and the you'll pretty much have the pendulum monsters needed every duel to begin your spamming. Sure there is a risk in playing the mechanic if one of the pendulum monsters is destroyed by mst. Again in the TCG there is only 1 TT an bottomless available decreasing your chance of stopin the SS. BTW dark is a bad example of stoping the pendulum summon plays. The damage has already been done by the time you get to use your dark hole.
Ive tried them but in my Gagaga/Chronomoly deck...must be careful...so easy to lose whole hand....right now I dont see much use for them..but have been thinking of Pendulum Ice Barrier deck for or laughs.
pendulums boost up harpies, scraps, ANY dragon deck, synchro decks, mermails, etc... it's just so dam stupid! I like that some of the much older decks can be a little faster but seriously, this is not fair to the community as a whole.
That statement makes no sense at all^^ No one will play pendulums in Harpie, Synchro or Mermail. Play the Decks and then wonder why the consistency is so much better without it. And only a handful of people knows about the hidden Ninja-Skill of pendulum summon, right? Thats totally not fair for the community (I wonder what community, because there is none but meh) ;D
GenocidalEdge You forgot the odd eyes though. And reckless is just a phase man.. people are gonna get tired of OTK's when counters get faster and control gets more controlling.
GenocidalEdge Yes I am sure, because I know how do build Decks witch are doing what they are supposed to do. So you wanna take out 9-12 Cards out of your Deck, still have the Main Core in it and try to do something consistantly without protection? If so, then you need to run more than 40 cards and time has already shown that only a handful of Decks can do that. Well, good luck trying to win after getting blown out by your opponent, loosing all your recources after 2 Backrow activations and topdecking nothing with utility. Pendulums are not an Engine right now. If we get a Tour Guide-esk Pendulum Monster, witch works in conjunction with Odd-Eyes, witch also has the right pendulum scales, so you dont need to run most of the time useless shit, then it will be a splashable Engine and you wont have to build a Deck around it.
AllesErlaubt10 I totally agree with you. And though there will come to be splashable pendulum based engines, the whole craze over this pendulum Scrap deck just feels like people hearing about Tour Guide and Leviathan Dragon for the first time again.
remember when "did you just summon a bunch of monsters in one turn? that's against the rules"
Screw the rules. Konami has no fucks
screw the rules I have pendulum monsters
I don't know what the hell they were thinking with these. They are WAY to overpowered. Personally, I don't think I'm ever going to use these cards.
Pendullums sucks.. This makes the game no thrill and non strategic.. Its more worth it to see monsters zone filled by hard consistent strategies than relying on this pendulums.. I play this game since 2003 and when i found about this new stuff, im so dismayed..
DJ KEL If you hate it, DON'T FUCKING USE IT.
the guy who banned stratos is the guy who desingned this, probrably
More like the guy that designed Spellbook of Judgement made this mechanic.
Smoking that naturia ragweed.
ParryDox aren't they the same guy?
Stratos is legal in Japan, and I assume Konami's R&D team for Yu-Gi-Oh is Japanese.
ParryDox OCG have the cool stuff, monster reborn, stratos etc..
Alcohol was involved, and nobody at Konami actually plays the game.
I would +10 this if I could!
I have a friend with an alternate theory:
A bet to see who can make the most OP cards gone out of control.
Vuldread dafuq you just say?
Guys don't call yugioh over because of pendulum summoning just yet...
1. Remember all the people calling the same thing on Synchros and Xyz
2. These require a LOT of MAIN deck devotion
3. Way less consistent than Xyz and Synchros (As of right now)
4. Costs two cards from your hand to start, then requires hand advantage for it to be useful
5. Helps slower and older decks more than newer already fast decks
6. Pendulum summoning is MASSIVELY countered by TT/bottomless (There goes your whole hand)
It won't break the game, guys. Not as of right now, anyway. Please take a moment to think about the mechanic as a whole and its effect on the game before you make a judgment on it.
***** yes. But you can then only use them as monsters.
Wow this comment aged really well compared to all the pendulum slandering
For me, GX was this game's peak.
same. just make xyz sychro.
Right, after GX ,the game is a total crap.. Too many OTK and OP cards.
true
People are overreacting. You got that board set up because your opponent decided to Special Summon for days under Maxx C which allowed you to get a bunch of stuff in your hand. Sure, Pendulum Summoning allows you to take advantage of that large hand more readily, but what if you're dealing with a normal sized one? You'll drop maybe 2 or 3 monsters at best, and then you're left with playing the top-decking game. Not to mention any traps at all will disrupt your play entirely and leave you defenseless.
TLDR: Calm the * * * * down, people.
so true
>pendjulum summon so broken
>doesn't explained wtf it is
you must be noob.. i mean new
With time, Pendulum Summoning and Pendulum Monsters will only get stronger.
so true lol
***** its based off a shounen manga of cause the game is gonna get broken. what i dont get is why they dont support the weaker decks. ojama support! why the fuck not give it a push, its funny and pretty famous. not to mention its monster zone sealing eff is always good.
weaker being a very relative term.
all those decks you mentioned were tier 1 if not 0 at one point(i think. i dont follow that stuff)
ojamas. koalas. roids. gambling decks. more rituals these are decks that need it.
well they could lengthen the life cycle of the cards by strengthening decks rather than creating a new archetype every 6 months. would ojamas ever be a viable deck? i doubt it. but they can help it out with a one or two cards that support the current cards out there. instead of keeping effing judgement dragon at the top for so bloooooody looooong.(i hate that card)
***** true, money is the supreme overlord.
*checks wiki*
Ah, right. Paladin of Photon Dragon. That thing's a ritual. ZeXal era.
I guess there are effect monster centric decks too, but I guess that doesn't really qualify with how many things count as effect monsters >_<
Overall, I agree that the ye olde stuff has been mostly pushed out of the picture by much faster and more spammable summon methods, but Konami hasn't abandoned them completely . . . heck Shadoll is a self-milling-reliant anti-special summon Fusion-based archetype, would you look at that.
Cyber dragon uses all methods -ritual
Cyber dragon uses all methods -ritual
You might wanna do some more research Mr . teddy bear :3 lol
teddy black the one format related comment I can be happy with
i dont care if they are broken or not, pendulums just plain are stupid
You get used to them
Brandon Blake why are most people hating on pendulum when thay came out people at locals ridiculed me for using them
Matthew Mullarkey DO NOT LIKE DIFFERENT WHY IS IT DIFFERENT
WHY DO THINGS CHAAAAAANGE
This game used to be fun when I played it 8 years ago.
+Sm0k4bl3 Then why are you watching a video for it?
James Baron To see if it's still fun.
Ok cool also what is your profile picture from?
It's the twitch 'Kappa' emote.
+Sm0k4bl3 its still fun
and now even more
I liked Synchro, I could somewhat deal with XYZ but this.. I'm not for it
Whenever I play, we make it a rule that pendulums are not allowed.
LuxHelmet What are xyz cards? I fell out of YGO since Synchro was added.
next series of Yu-Gi-Oh! will be "WIN THE FUCK OUT OF EVERYTHING GGXZZTR00" with moster effects that inflicts 10^9 life points everytime you blink, spell cards that choke your enemy to death and Trap cards that set nuclear bombs under your enemy's seat and activate when he/she breaths PLUS no limit in cards what SO FUCKING EVER!! YEEAAHHH THE NEW FUCKING YUGIFUCKINGOH!
What? ONLY THAT? I call Bs. Not enough.
Spell cards that creates Wormholes in Yu-Gi-Oh! Physics then explode creating 30^10 supernovae in 30^10 different parallel universes Trap cards that break the Laws of Physics, breaks the Laws that break the Laws of Physics, Burns them, Then dances on the ashes
Monsters that transform and change effects 32 times a second
Top kek
Torrential at 3 in the OCG makes sense all of a sudden..
R.I.P
Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game
1999-2014
Thanks a lot Pendulum Summoning >:'(
rip real yugioh 1999-2011 :/
Actually rip to game when sync and xyz came into existance.
Donnovan Mason synchro and xyz made it better, pendulum just makes things confusing.
MetalSnakeUtah not really especially when theres no fun when you have to play five games, to = 1 good game.
I agree, i hate Pendulum and xzy shit. I liked to play with the old cards, nothing more ._.
"Pendulum Summoning is BROKEN!"
I think every duelist knew that the moment it was introduced.
Want more?
Mst, (funny the thing that can kill pendulums can also help) Tyrant's temper (requires 1 tribute but your monsters are unaffected by traps.) Seven tools of the bandit
If they summon monarchs they can kill your traps. (Kuraz, Raiza, Caius)
I LOVED Synchro's and was open minded about XYZ's, but Pendulum monsters are too far.
same. I LOVED Ritual, Fusion, and Synchro. I was OK with XYZ. Pendulum has gone to a very annoying position to the point I hate it.
+Blagaflaga Same here. I used to play when xyz and syncro weren't arount, then i stopped playing for a few years and when i came back i quickly adapted to them, but Pendullums are just broken. Might even stop playing again becouse of them
I feel the same my friend! I REFUSE TO USE THESE MONSTROSITIES!!
That is what they say about links now
Just for the record, I'm not the only one who doesn't want to ruin their deck by adding pendulums, right? Gosh it's so broken.
I like my Dustons against my friends XD
I might also try Toons. The new cards will hopefully help me make them way better
Friends always tell me to do that, I say not even on hell... Seriously the suck as fuck...
+DarkTitan I now never duel my friend because of Pendulum monster and how he uses it wrong. He abuses the pendulums too much
+NeovisionX they arnt strong use kaiser coliseum so they cant summon any more monsters then u have so gg wp nice try pendulums
Fans: KONAMI, THESE CARDS THAT YOU CREATED ARE TOO OP DO SOMETHING
Konami: uhhh BAN STRATOS AND MAGICIAN OF FAITH
Fans: WHAT THE FUCK
If you cant handle the pendulum vomit on turn 3 then you were going to lose regardless."
I was worried pendulums were overhyped but with stuff like odd-eyes sangan dragon I know it's going to take over the game.
John Smith GL using Black Horn of Heaven when they PS 3 monsters. Official ruling says it wont work.
Pendulums are broken.. the only people who think it isn't are in denial. Konami really messed up with this one.. The lamest part is, even if they die, THEY COME RIGHT BACK the next turn! Like, who thought this was a good idea??!?
Money......
Jacqueline Sobotowicz Gotta pack up those mystical space typhoons! Rek those pendulum shit heads every time.
Jacqueline Sobotowicz weak cheater
thats what it is
See, if they got banished if they leave the field after you Pendulum them from the Extra Deck, then it would be not as bad.
Jacqueline Sobotowicz yet they still ban "Monster Reborn"
synchro was fine. xyz was a bit strong but still. pendulum meh if they're lucky they can control the duel. if they're not, well, they die.
"the good old days when you work hard to summon a blue eyes"
*Watches the first episode*
Pokecole37 LMAO! #DEAD He was probably thinking batte city days
XD This man is crazy lol StaticImpulse21
Mega Giga Bowser those fuckers just keep coming back when they are destroyed. It's not like you can send them to the graveyard so that the opponent actually has to make some effort to bring them back. No, they are sent to the fucking extra deck. WHY KONAMI?
And cheap rank 4 xyz ruined the game (Ophion\101\exciton....)
i miss days when you could make a deck from all sorts of type of cards and still win but now you need to follow one formula to win,so sad
+Charos Maros it was never like that. it may have been simpler in its early stages but all card games revolve around deck synergy
That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard on any cardgames.
+Charos Maros You mean Archtype. People use to play based their deck based on Type-support before GX come and rain Archtypes.
+Lona Lyura they were still competitive even during GX, they died in 5DS
EXACTLY! :(
THIS. HAS. RUINED. YUGIOH.
We are currently in the best format we have had for literally years and now this garbage is going to ruin it :( WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING
fuck that pendulum shit.
I destroyed Pendulums last night :)
Lets just say I made them, "Accept Judgment" ;)
Lightsworn Rulers never let me down
***** LOL!
This isn't gonna be here for a while soooo... enjoy it? i gues...
Id say synchros and Xyzs were the start of the downfall.
Pendulum summoning does seem pretty interesting, we have to see it for ourselves in the anime & future games first though!
If you summon Naturia Beast on the very first turn, you are able to stop all your opponent pendulums (if the focus is it).
i dont think its too late for koami to ban all pendulum monsters
What the heck is koami??
Cry please
lol and a year later the only pendulums to have done anything are qlis, and the pendulum mechanic wasnt even really what made them broken. i still maintain that rank 4 spam is the most broken part of the game. in general xyz is the mechanic that has too much going for it.
Yeah I hardly know any decks that use pendulums except for qliphorts
Mars Gaming besides magispecters when they come to the tcg there isnt anything that focuses on pendulums thats really relevant
***** im talking about game changing meta defining tier 1. none of those are that.
doggotbitm Sorry, What is this game?
+doggotbitm You spoke too soon
Pendulum summoning is inconsistent as fuck atm though.
Pendulum Summons aren't even an inherent -1 like Xyz and Synchro summoning. :/
Or, yknow, monsters, like exciton knight, 101 can steal anything they summon etc. etc. etc. It will most likely cause a meta-shift, yes, but that doesn't make it broken for now.
pendulums should be a diffirent mode like speed dueling or something
Summon a bunch of monsters in one turn??
That's even crazier than Giant Trunade & Card Destruction combo
Did you just summon a bunch of monsters in one turn?
Yes why
that's against the rules
Screw the rules I use pendulum sommons
I have a feeling sylvans might get their own pendulum monsters (a turtle with one counter and a dragon with 8, completing that chinese group thing of tiger/bird/turtle/Dragon), that way we'll have a way to summon hermitree (and others) without blessing or miracle fertilizer...
I love sylvans but if that happens I just might give up on that deck. Pendulum summoning just doesn't seem fun.
MyGoodApollo I'd still play them... However, if that turtle and dragon were synchros instead, I'd be one of the happiest humans alive!!
Crystalunick Dragon should be 9 or you wouldn't be able to summon Hermit! (I think that's how it works atleast)
1994AZ105 yeah, you're right xD (that means the turtle would have to have 0 for all of our level 1's)
But I think it would actually be better excavating those instead of summoning them!
Nah, I still say limit all the Pendulum monsters.
I have one word in response: Bujin
Well, I know I'm going over my one-word limit, but when you have a deck that has the potential to run a total of seven Honests, you better bring Prohibition and Mind Crush.
Otherwise Qliphoths won't even exist as a deck.
nether lander
Thing is, you normally don't summon those first few pendulums - you activate them and put them in the pendulum zones. At that point, it's pendulum summon after pendulum summon after pendulum summon.
Of course, every Qliphoth is a pendulum monster and I've not really messed around with any of the non-Qliphoth pendulums, so the constant Pendulum summoning may specifically be a Qliphoth thing...
nether lander
Those and Odd-Eyes are the ones people are mainly using right now. Of course, they're likely running them in threes.
4:15 "See how this is fair guys?" Dude of course you're gonna shit on him he gave you like 6 cards to get out 1 scrap dragon.
4 years later xD laughing at the thought of odd eyes beeing banned
what crack konami is on.....
"Half an essay each" I lost it! LOL
You should make a quasar pendulum deck. I feel like that is gonna be plain stupid.
thx 4 the idea
Quasars not hard to summon as is (quickdraw, Lv eater, Explorer, plenty of variations to it too), and since it is IMPOSSIBLE to summon a lv1 monster (the tuner for formula).... and quasar takes a minimum base of 6 monsters unless you summon stuff before hand and rez them
"plain stupid" is a good way to put it, if your bothering with Psummons, you'd get more milage out of either xyzs a swarm of ranks 4-6s, or synchros of varies ranges. Quasar would take the whole summon (and given the levels of the current pendulum monsters, "P summon all the mats back" isnt a thing)
He summoned Mist Bird.. and didn't use it's effect..
The death of yugioh
McButtz ironic
Ironic indeed
pendulums: a splashable engine to break almost any deck.
What happened to good old Yugioh with Chaos decks and Destruction decks and old classic play. Not shit like this? The images of the new cards are not even unique? RIP best childhood trading card game ever :/
LOL Assuming the OG cards that "original" artwork and lol so you want every player to play the same OP decks to be competitive deck(AKA Chaos format)?
The reason pendulum summoning is already inherently broken is because
1. It's not a minus 2, the pendulum still have effects in the pendulum zone so it's a +0
2. Pendulum summoning let you summon any amount of monsters from your extra deck, as long as your pendulum is destroyed you just get another +1 your next pendulum summon
3. It pretty much negates the high level tribute restriction
4. These are just the first 5 pendulum monsters, there will be far better ones later on
5. It's once per turn. Simply summon odd eyes (and any other pendulum) from your extra every turn for free
Thank god I quit yugioh at zexal... I look at this... ok yu-gi-oh is now shitty... back to MTG and hearthstone
K, bye.
machina188 K have fun with your life... but you do not have one :)
why are u watching a yugioh video then??
***** Hearthstone still is less shitty then this game's current state. At least it is balanced XD. And I would rather play a online game then spend a bunch of money on pieces of paper who will soon be useless. I don't know what you will say, but it will probably involve some fanboying and you whining that yugioh will remain constant...
Jake Mills I haven'w watched one in a while. I saw "pendulum" and didn't know what it is, so I assumed it was the new season's mechanic, and wanted to see if it would be OP... looks like it pretty much is
here are some ideas to try and help fix the game:
-you may only pendulum summon one monster per turn
-if a pendulum monster that was previously pendulum summoned from the extra deck would be sent from the field to the graveyard, it is sent to the graveyard instead of the extra deck
-you may only activate one pendulum card as a spell card per turn
Agreed, that wouldn't make pendulums so strong and it would be harder to Pendulum summon
Any deck can be broken against someone who is fairly poor at the game...
agree mate ive played pendulum and they need alot of time to be set and you cant really summon 5 monsters in same time(my best number has been2) i mean this was just a boring duel quasar player misplayed alot
pendulums are already op Ive gone plus 10 on turn 3 and you can do it by turn 4 most games if you want me to explain the plus 10 combo just reply to this
Irdi Gega i played a pendulum player and he summoned 5 pendulum monsters to the monster card zone in 1 turn
unit900000
depends on the deck :) ive managed to pull only 2 with my current decks cuz you know traps and spells are a thing in the game :P maybe that guy saved all his recources for only a big push
not to mention it's just the beginning, so there's only a few pendulum card, in the future they will put the whole pendulum cards in the deck
how naive we where back then
"odd eyes will get banned bcs its 2 stronk" -slaydra 2014
Ray Fanning 2 - 7 1 and 8 are excluded cause then THAT would be broken.
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE SEES THAT
you are literally the first person i have found that understood that before i had to explain it. and you can deal with it the same way you deal with ANY generic swarm, biggest monster on your field and backrow to keep it that way.
It's the fact that we know new support is gonna come to make it consistant.
***** I'm sure you're right. And I'm expecting it too. But as of now its nbd.
Morgan Murphy exactly
From what I've seen so far, to make pendulum summoning overpowered, you need to maintain a large hand. And since it's once per turn you have to summon everything at once, so solemn warning, torrential tribute, bottomless trap hole and steelswarm roach do horrible things to pendulum summons. Anti-spell fragrance is also a thing if people don't like it.
pendulum isn't that broken, it takes alot of set up and not every deck has enough tool boxing to get the full benefit of pendulum. i ha a game i opened 1 odd eyes 1 of each magician and 2 spells that didnt help. so yea it all depends on how well you draw unless you have a toolbox crazy deck.
ok so how often will you have 5 monsters in hand unless you have a toolbox heavy deck?
Rechordian with what deck? sorry but I find it hard to believe
If pendulums become an issue, remember that Needle Ceiling is a thing.
Ghostrick player here and I approve this message!
Ewan Philip only pendulum monsters go to extra deck. all others go to grave
Exactly why they're op. You don't need to run anything else.
Ewan Philip all your pendulums are in extra deck. nothing like call of the haunted works now. your move.
This was probably a poorly conceived arguement anyway. ;D
Since pendulum's are treated as spell cards. Will spell canceling trap/spell cards stop them?
the only reason this was good was because buddy let you draw like a million cards with max c.... otherwise, scaps can flood the field anyway...
actually since all the summons of a pendulum summon happen at the same time, you'd only get one draw off it.
do u read? that has nothing to do with what i said.
what software is this, and what mods does it use to get kuribohs and so on?
Ill Billy no this is ygopro for the pc
+Sirocco Ferrari They are the same fucking things
Shinato, King of a Higher Plane nope
Considering Pends can SS A Whole Board worth of monsters for basicly 0 Cost it is pretty OP As fuck, Take Lightsworn or any other deck they have a Cost to SS onto the whole board and such
The Thing about Pends as well? Well you Mirror forced? I'll just RE-SS Eveything the VERY Next Turn So Mirror Force isnt realy good, IF you can OTK Them well they can always have say Swift or something
I started Yu-Gi-Oh in February,I've learned so much and I have a passion for Yu-Gi-Oh and Football,I've only dualed 4 times but I find it fun and now I want pendulum monsters cause I'm running a synchro deck
if you ask me pendelum is nor op or weak
its actually just normal
the most pendelum monsters have only use in an own deck issue or have other greate nerfs
also instead of xyz which made fusion useless
this summon way actually bring ballenceing back
Link Summoning is BROKEN! *KONAMI WHAT DID YOU DO!?*
Yu-Gi-Oh! Is different to MTG and Pokémon. But this Pendulum Summoning is turning it into both of these games. I am going to swerve Pendulum summoning and stick with The summon we have right now. Unless i keep losing and think it could be used to my advantage
***** And you're here why then?
Think of it this way. I go first in Japan so I only have 5 cards starting. If I play 2 Pendulums I have 3 cards and I then swarm the field. My opponent Solemns. I have no cards in hand=GG. They aren't broken in the hands of most players. They are only broken when in the hands of a very ingenious and skilled player.
Wonder if they should limit special summons per turn to 2 or make these things take an extra monster zone.
Pendulum cards look like the magic the gathering cards..
If they changed the ruling a bit i can see this being a thing that won't be Absurdly Broken
Indeed, it didn't have to be like this, especially the part that they go on top of the extra deck for us to use again wtf..
YouLancarnate
And then there's the occasions where they'll SOMETIMES go to the graveyard... and the fact that these are cards with two sets of effects... and multiple game mechanics.
I think it's the complexity of it all that's gonna spoil the fun for me. As if Xyz and Synchros hadn't done enough of that, already. :~/
Mayeur000Donz Agreed
No, you can special summon the pendulum monsters from your extra deck and use THEM as fodder, which gives your monarchs their effects.
One guy was testing out rank 6 pendulum summons: I used bottomless: SUPER MINUS for that guy
Parmos Young if you destroy a scale/s,only that scale/s is destroyed but not the pend monsters. you cant replace you scales while they are occupied but you can put new scales if the pendulum zones are free
now we need a new type of spell and trap to counter pendulum
actually, pendulums count as spells as well, so you can use things like mst and dust tornado on them.
There is already, it's called TT/bottomless.
Specific to pendulum traps like
"Pendulum Block"
Destroy all pendulum cards on the field. Your opponent's pendulum monsters effects are negated and go to the Graveyard."
"Scale Destruction"
"Your opponent's Pendulum Cards' Pendulum Scales becomes 1.
Sorry to burst your bubble but pendulum summoning is counted as a single summon so no maxx c
Oh, 1 card isn't viable? Black horn then. by your logic it would kill all of the summoned cards
Omid Mansour uhm.... yeah it would. If you negate the summon of a monster that was pendulum summoned then that destroys the rest that were summoned along with it.
^ Dude? How old are you? I know it would, that's why I said so... Lol... Why did I bother replying.
Then at least structure your sentences better, otherwise I wouldn't have said that. No need to act like a butt hole because someone misread your post :P
Yugioh was way better when there were only Rituals and Fusion... Now it's crappier than ever...!!!
+Madridy1996 forreal
+Madridy1996 I also got tuning and Synchro summoning, probably because I thought 5Ds was awesome with a nice game mechanic.
+Isaiah Quidilla what you mean?
ripppking Synchro Summoning was a cool idea and that was way after I stopped. They never had a great idea to use levels really well besides tribute summoning until synchro with adding levels. Although I didn't play it, the rules were nice and it wasn't as broken as being able to summon as many monsters as possible.
+Isaiah Quidilla
i really like the synchros(currently playing a psychic deck).
mainly because they are simmilar to the v-z fusion monsters.
it helps to get strong monsters out but is still limitet to the normal summoning rules.
unlike all the new stuff which is just op bullshit.
and all good cards which could win against the new types are getting limitet or banned one after the other.
i miss the old yugioh, when you can only summon 1 monster per turn (without some kind of effect)
that so true that was pure skills now is just garbage that why I stop they broke it
Yeah! It was all about STRATEGY!
how was that pure skill? please don't come back to the ygo community. we don't need children like you who can't adapt to new situations
metalpyromon cuz u would have to think of combinations of cards to be able to take down what ur opponent throws at you, sometimes you would have to think of them on the spot.
So you can say don't go to ygo community cuz we act like children cuz we can't adapt is not that I'm just saying that is not fun no more buck then when I use to dual it last at lest and hour of play and now u can win with only one move that just take the fun that all I'm saying longer dual equal a lot of fun
i wonder if pendulum revive the old normal monsters? to special summon like alot of them. like blue eyes white dragon
everyone will get used to it eventually, always happens.
It was the same with synchros and xyzs, a lot of people didn't like them, but eventually most of those people started loving them
Marko Radetić and there were also those who have been shaking our heads ever since synchros were first introduced
I can't stand how it's now just a game to see who can OTK their opponent the fastest.
maybe you guys will. I'm still waiting for Konami to make the game slower and more strategic like it used to be
lmfao. my favorite video by far. "summon everything, just special summon everything, EVERYTHING" 😂😂😂😂
might as well make a card that just spells YOU WIN
what is the name of the program your using to play is not dueling network, what is it?
Xyz. not exceed...
I dismantled a pendulum gate guardian deck with shaddolls.
What website is that (where youre playing yugioh) is it like pokemons version of smogon?
It is ygopro and you can change the card backing. This man is just a meme lord for using pokemon card backs.
TalonProgramming
i hope you understand that pendulum summoning ruins the game of yugioh.AznEyes understands that, why cant you.
Dragon Rulers had many unique issues:
A: Too many Special Summons
B: Consistency is unmatched
C: Cards from Graveyard are just as alive as in your hand (Low risk, high reward)
D: Summoning let you go plus (Super rejuv, banishing for dragon ruler effs searching other dragons
Now let's look at pendulums:
A: Sure, too many Special Summons from one mechanic
B: Requires having minimum 2 cards in your hand as pendulum monsters, any less lets you not pendulum summon, any more means you're not drawing the main engine of your deck.
TalonProgramming
basically your're saying it ok for every deck to spam monsters.
The only broken card in that duel, in my opinion, was scrap factory.
That statement makes no sense at all^^
No one will play pendulums in Harpie, Synchro or Mermail.
Where is this Yu Gi Oh! website?
