Thanks for this video, you must have read my mind this morning! UPDATE: I did everything you told me to do with my flatiron (a cheapo) and my hair finally turned out good today. I've been fighting with flat ironing it, and am always in a hurry and trying to iron huge chunks. It didn't take me as much time as I thought it would to get ready, by just following your steps and taking smaller chunks. I am so thankful for this video!
I have super super thick long hair. My suggestion is also to use silk drops or some kind of smoothing cream before you flat iron instead of constantly combing through it. It will give tons of shine and help with frizz throughout the day. I get compliments every day on my hair.
I was subscribed to your channel ages ago, it was my go to for hair help, then it disappeared from my feed. I couldn't remember the name of the channel, so it disappeared completely. Now I was browsing some hair stuff and it popped up and to my surprise, it didn't come up as subscribed. So now I'm back in and hopefully RUclips won't "unsubscribe" me against my will again.
me too....disappeared from my feed as well...and then I remembered the name of the channel....and looked it back up on RUclips...I am still subscribed and on the alerts as well...so don't know why it went away either!
PHENOMENAL job explaining mistakes and how to 10:51 I have been so frustrated with my hair, and not understanding what im doing wrong. Many have worked for me, and NOT kmow why....NOW I UNDERSTAND. i would always section & comb through or pullling to hard or too fast. i see you have listed a "mistakes blow drying. I'm headed next, then wash my hair again, and let's get this party started!!-
The mistakes: - Not using a heat protector (cream or spray) on damp hair before blow drying/straightening. Try to also take a break from heating generally. - Not sectioning (note: her hair was first split into 3 major sections: top, and bottom left and right. Bottom left and right were then each split into 3 smaller sections. Top was then split into right, back and left, with the right and left being split each into 3 smaller sections. Make sure that each section is not thick enough that the heat can fully penetrate it. Also, after finishing from the bottom major sections, clamp them instead of putting them in a ponytail) - Not adjusting the temperature of the flat iron - Not combing out hair before flat ironing it (note: she flat irons each section only once by going through it slowly) Tip: ironing each section towards the top direction will create volume as opposed to leaving it flat.
I have thick course naturally curly hair and the T3 is the best hair dryer ever made...it literally leaves my hair straight..without using a flat iron. But i think im gonna purchase a T3 flat iron after seeing this! T3's are a little pricey but so so worth it!
Very very helpful thank you ! You explain everything so detailed and demonstrate for first timers like me! You definitely just gained a new subscriber 😁🤗
I really enjoy your videos, it might be nice to see you work on a curly/wavy hair to curl it or straighten it the way you do yours. Maybe you have a gal pal that you can borrow. :)
Great video!! I was definitely making some of the mistakes you mentioned. Going to try to flat iron my hair right now!! 😊 Quick question: Can you tell me what heat protectants you recommend? Thank you!!
My hair is thin and frizzy. Stylists asked me if I brush it, no I only comb. Anyway, I bought a house with well water and my hair is in such better shape now and so much softer and less frizzy.
Thank you for sharing your helpful tips and tricks. My question is how to flat iron a side bang that is about half the length of yours? Do you pull it straight down or angle it to the side? Thanks Kate 💕
This was so helpful to me. Thank you for showing the correct way. I have watched a few on the subject and I was glad no backcombing was involved.. bc it would only produce frizz no matter how many attempts I had made or products I had tried on my wavy hair. Time to section and do it properly. I enjoy your make up tutorials as well as product recommendations. You have recommended several winners for me. Really glad I kept on watching as each video came out. Your content is very helpful to a 40 something who realized its time to start learning. Sincere thanks!!
Hi Kate, great video. I Love My GHD flat iron. I’ve had three and they’ve quit working right about 2 years. This is perfect timing because I’ve been asking myself “which would Kate recommend” I know you like GHD, too. My GHD just quit last week. I’m going to try the T3. I have thick frizzy hair.
Yea.. when I saw her with " blow dried" hair.. I thought it was already straightened. Curly/wavy hair after being blow dried, still looks like we stuck our finger in an electrical outlet 😂🤣 can spend forever doing it. If its humid or gets one drop of water.. I'M FUCKED!!
I have a pump protectant (chi iron guard). Do I need to let each dry before ironing or can I run thru right after spraying each section? Also, what’s a good temp for fine hair? Thx.
What do you do when you have stubborn cowlicks? I have one on my crown, in the back of my head - and while the rest of my hair straightens well with my BioIonic 10x - it takes several passes to smooth it.
I definitely make some of those mistakes. Where I get hung up is doing the back of my hair. What if I want to curl it? I can't see back there and my goodness how do I get arms there🤣.
What exactly is in heat protection spray that protects your hair? I haven’t had one person I’ve asked be able to answer this question and some have worked in a salon!

Hello my favorite YT Hair Guru!!! What do you recommend to help with static? I have color treated, shoulder length, fine, thin, straight hair that I wash every other day and straight iron on Day 2. The static this winter on day 2 is making me bananas! Thanks for your input (or anyone with any suggestions). Thanks for all you hair tutorials...old and new, I love them all!!! -Signed Hair Envy From KS 😉
I'm in Nebraska, so I definitely understand the static problem! What I do is spray my brush or comb with hairspray and comb it through. It works well and helps all day. You can also use a dryer sheet and pull your hair through it in sections. But the scent can be strong and doesn't always go away. But it works!
Thank you for you tips......you are a joy to watch and listen to...... And can you please share what necklace, and where you purchased it ? It is beautiful. Thank you in advance

I wonder if you would be willing to show your straightener skills on a much cheaper straightener. A lot of women don’t have even $50 to spend on hair tools. Also, you don’t take smaller sections towards the root underneath so that it’s all nice and flowy?
Try Costco for T3 flat iron. I got mine there for like $50. Otherwise you can pick up a Chi at Ulta for a little more than that if you watch for their sales & coupons.
@@shannonshank8442 I wish I still lived in the States sometimes, when I hear about the great deals at Costco, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, etc.. 😁 💜 Unfortunately, I live abroad so I don't have access to Costco, but thanks for the tip. Maybe someone else can use the advice in buying a flat iron. 😁 💜
Well I did it backwards lol instead of watching the short length of time holding on your hair, I'm watching this and shopping for an necessary chemicals possibly needed from Amazon especially for frizz, I basically know but I need the best of the best due to living in the south, south and the wonderful heat so I don't want my hair to frizz lol
its gonna depend on your hair texture, your specific flat iron, etc etc. the best thing to do is just try different temperatures (try to use it as low as possible and then add heat) to find out what temperature works but is still safest/as kind as possible on your hair type. i'd start at like 330-350.
I love your hair it's gorgeous. I'm currently growing out my hair which is at the end of my earlobe. It's a bob how long would it take to get my hair to that length?
Candy Davis When you put your head on the pillow, gather up your hair as if you were making a pony on top of your head and then drop it over the pillow so that you aren’t laying on it and rubbing it against the pillow all night long. I also only sleep on satin pillow cases. Hope this helps.
Finally! After a million videos and stylist, finally find someone I really like. Thank you.
I also am a hairstylist, and have curly hair. Just another tip, keep your comb in front of the iron. I never put my comb down.😊
Omg same but I prefer to use a brush idk why lol
Really like the way you speak and explain everything.

I love your hair tutorials Kate I learned to flat iron and curl my hair with your videos!!! Thank you.
I cannot say thank you enough!!!! I was doing half of what you shared. But wow!!!
What a great idea to iron UP instead of down! I could see the lift! Im going to have to try this!
This was very helpful for me because I struggle with face framing and lift. Thank you
Wow, this is extra helpful ...what great tips, especially about the bend and giving volume from the roots!! Thank you so much!!
Smita Thekkepat I agree!!
To get a smoother look run the comb right in front of the iron, do it together. Comb in front and flat iron right behind it.
Exactly
This was so practical and helpful. thank you!

I needed this flat iron lesson sooooo bad! I’ve been doing it so wrong. Thank you!❤️🙋🏼♀️
Cool, yes I brush mine straight down in the front
Simple but Very helpful video. Thank you
Will you please do a vid on favorite heat protectants for flat ironing
Loved this video! I love the tips! I’m really bad at sectioning, so now I see why it’s so important!

You are a fantastic teacher! This was excellent. I’m new at rhis
Thankyou for your awesome info I will try your technique now I’ll be more confident cause my hair always gets frizzy

Your hair is sooooo beautiful 😍😍😍 I honestly wish I had straight hair
She is great stylist but her hair doesn’t at all look healthy. It looks fried and dyed.
Thank you for this video...will you please do a video on how to flat iron with loose curls and waves?

Hot damn, 2 simple tweaks and I can’t believe the difference!
Did you cut your own hair? If so, how would you describe your cut to a stylist? It’s so cute!
You are very pretty and your hair looks beautiful, all I bottom of my hair i get frizz mostly the bottom I don't know why. Can I get rid of it?
I only wash my hair once a week and I use John Frieda Frizz ease. But I do straighten almost daily.

Great video to watch if you want to fall asleep!!!!😴😴😴😴
WOW :) I LOVE THIS CHICK SHE IS GOOD WITH HER HAIR!
Me too!!
Thanks for the great information! I learned a lot. Can’t wait to try out your technique.
Lol flat ironing straight hair is so different than curly/frizzy hair. Talk about sections ...... let's divide that section by five, then five more!
Truth! Also, allow yourself an extra half hour and just when you think you're good to go you check out the back and.....aargh
Right ??? Mine takes forEVER .... and it still isn’t really “straight” ..😕
Yea.. when I saw her with " blow dried" hair.. I thought it was already straightened. Curly/wavy hair after being blow dried, still looks like we stuck our finger in an electrical outlet 😂🤣 can spend forever doing it. If its humid or gets one drop of water.. I'M FUCKED!!
Easy with thick straight hair why don’t they ever show fine frizzy curly hair videos that most of us have 😒
Love this! Thank you for going into details and examples of products to use 😃
Thanks. Yep, I was making one of the mistake. I won’t be doing that anymore 🤦♀️
Thank you so much for this, very helpful!
amazing as always thank you Kate
I have a pump protectant (chi iron guard). Do I need to let each dry before ironing or can I run thru right after spraying each section? Also, what’s a good temp for fine hair? Thx.
Deb Beroff I “chi”, then blow dry, then flatiron.
These are great times everyone should know!
"under a $100 for sure.."
Me: "under $20 for sure!..."
I loved this video!!! Loved it!
My head kandy straightening brush is awesome. I have to use 450° I got some think naturally curling hair

you made a simple compliment so weird and offputting.

I’m sorry you read it that way.
Thank you!❤️
2 years later, and I still occasionally think about your blow drying video:: "Turn the heat down to medium. See where life takes you..."
Allison Franck 😂I watched that video today and then did just that with my dryer turned it to medium 😂
i just watched that video this weekend! trying to blow dry my hair with a round brush (failed miserably lol)
That was helpful! Thank you!
Great job❗
Thanks

Lol @ everyone her hair is straight already yeah, but the ends are a lil frizzy...shes going for that smooth silky finish
ur hair looks so amazing! hugs, vanessa
Enlightening.
What are some inexpensive flat irons that you would recommend? What should I look for in a flat iron?
If you go inexpensive, the end result will be inexpensive meaning it won't have the look you want it to (my opinion).
Cynthias stylemua T3 is a great brand. I prefer it to my pricey Chi straightener.
