I always found it funny when the director Dominique Othenin-Girard says "we are very close to the formula and set up of Halloween 1" as if he had cracked the code of how John Carpenter did it. No Dominique you didn't if this was a basketball play John Carpenter would sink the ball into the net from the middle of the court while you would go for a three-point shot and the ball would just roll off the rim.
He was absolutely right. 5 comes closest to the original, in the most important respects. In fact, it even manages to SURPASS the original, in some regards. I'd have no hesitation in saying that, of all the Halloween films that exist largely OUTSIDE of Carpenter's influence...meaning everything after 1 and 2...Othenin-Girard came closest to crafting a movie worthy of the Halloween name.
Why were they always trying to make Micheal Myers bigger? He's not Jason. That's why Michael was an enigma, he was a normal person who personified evil.
Blame Moustapha for that. He wanted George Wilbur and Don Shanks. I hate the weinsteins but at least they realized Michael shouldn't be a big dude. That's why they replaced him in the reshoots for Halloween 6 and had smaller actors to play him in future movies.
@@23bitchris60 They had less bulky actors to play him but the height of the actors they chose were the same, hes still 2 tall. Myers is 5'10 in the original and in 4-6 hes 6'2 with wilbur and 6'1 with shanks. h20 and resurrection also had guys that were 6'2 play him, they were just more lean.
I made that point about 6 months ago a on another post I actually think it's creepier if he's an average size guy it makes the evil in him seem more powerful.
It didn’t make sense. She was way too carefree in the beginning of H5 no guns and the dog was in the yard. Why was the dog not upstairs with her. You’d think someone who recently had a killer chase them over town and almost kill them would be way more self defense conscious
That's one of my many major issues with this. I liked Rachel. I loved the sister chemistry between her and Jamie. Halloween 5 killed off Rachel within the first 20 mins and Halloween 6 killed off Jamie within the first 20 mins as well. For me Halloween 4 is the only good one of this trilogy.

This was such a let down after "The Return of Michael Myers." We even laughed that they did the Jedi switch in reverse where "Return of the Jedi" was originally called "Revenge of the Jedi." 5 has a few moments and elements that are decent, but it was a serious letdown in 1989.

I wish they had explained the Myers' House in this one. I loved this movie but, how did the myers' house go from a 2 story-basic family house to a 3-story mansion?
There are ways that they could explain the difference, if you care. Maybe Myers lived in more than one house as a child. Or we know that they had trouble selling the house...maybe somebody renovated it, in hopes of having better luck...who knows? But it's not the same film without that house...it's an essential part of Halloween 5...and that's good enough for me..

they should have kept in the scene with Thorn as that fits more with parts 1-2, 4-6. They also should have done the planned sequel for part 6 Producers cut instead of destroying the franchise with shitty reboots like h20 and robs movies and the new shit

They make you think that Tommy is going to be just like Jason. "F13-5" plays with the idea that the killer might be Tommy, but it ultimately goes with another character. With "Halloween 5" it just got convoluted with that guy following Michael and pretty much all of the characters being annoying af. There are some cool sequences in it, but the film on a whole fails. Also, the shot of dude polishing his car where you can clearly see the movie lamp reflected in the car??? How do you miss something like that when you're shooting? It's not the same as a boom that accidentally dips into a shot. This is a shot set up with that in the shot. YIKES!
