- A film tracing Delhi's past, to make sense of its present, through the lens of narratives and visual memories as shared and seen by the residents of Delhi.
This film uses sourced archival footage along with Centre's repository of oral history interviews and archival photographs of Delhi. This 7 minute film is a glimpse into changes the city of Delhi has witnessed in about last hundred years in terms of experience of partition, landscape, transportation and so on.
A film by the Anoushka Mathews and Reebu Tandon produced at the Centre for Community Knowledge, Ambedkar University Delhi.
Roads were spotlessly clean... i see we hv got educated, but lost civic sense
We didnt hv cars bikes buses at that time.. Not much commercialisation
Less consumerism
There was not mass migration to cities and population explosion that time .
Today delhi bear load of 2 crore population back then it was somewhere around 25 lakhs .
Fuck off, nobody litters in connaught place
There was no plastic back then. Population was less and people were poor so they RRR
Yamuna Was Very Clean At that Time, Sadly Not Today 🥺
😭 right
I wish I could go back in time and tell my great grandfather to buy land in Delhi 😂
Everyone thinks the same brother😂😂
Back during that time I think land is expencive
Fir tere baap ki shadi teri mammi se na hui hoti

@@Flyingkitty1234 back then no one had money to do so
Better then today CCTV camera.
Those people on that time can't even imagine that they will be telecaste through one small android gadget one day 😌. Those time RIP. Never gonna come back.
Aaj Dilli ko narak bana ke rakh diya hai !! Being a 90s person, I can only dream of clean roads, clean Yamuna ji, no mountains of garbage, no pollution.
sahi kaha
Mumbai has always been hub for India but Delhi has come across a long way. From almost nothing to equally major hub of India alongside with Mumbai.
Almost nothing hahah dumb fuck mughal emperor rule here , britishers rule here and now also.. Delhi ka takht s desh chlta h...
Abe jo bhi ho Mumbai per Delhi land h to Mumbai aaand samja

When he said about yamuna i got a smile on my face automatically.
That time delhi is better than Today delhi
Clean street and road
Not overcrowded
I loved the part where everyone mostly traveled by cycling
Only a few people could afford one.
You can start the trend again.
I'm happy atleast humne bachpan toh acche se jee liya compared to today's children 😂

Oh Wow!!! What a beautiful memories of older and beautiful Delhi. My papa used to tell me about coming to Okhla Barrage for fishing and how clean the Yamuna River was. Even during my college time in 1987, I witnessed that Yamuna was still clean enough to have fun activities near its banks. Thank you so much for sharing such rare video footage. Highly appreciated.
Video is 4 yrs old
But most of the comments are recent.
Of all the things i strongly appreciate how women felt safe back then
Forget women, people would not leave their homes after 6/7 pm. Dacoits were rampant then.
😂😂Tum log saala kuch bhi bol jaate ho
Delhi was so clean and beautiful 😍
At that time there wasn't industrialization in delhi and also Delhi population was very less.
But now due to overpopulation and huge industrialization filled Delhi with dirt and filth which pollutes whole delhi.
Just Beautiful!!!
Thank you for this gem
Thanks sir, I like these kind of old videos . ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Delhi has always had a diverse culture. Nothing of its own all about its residents and surroundings. Thats why its called Mini India.
That rainbow gave me goosebumps
Wish those days could return!!
When delhi used to be a simple progressive city...
When there used to a clean sky, No traffic problems, No Crowd
But today delhi is suffering due to immigration, Delhi is now world's 2nd most populated city. Too much immigration and urbanization is destroying delhi.
Because of bimaru States..
Up and Bihar people coming because they don't have jobs in their own state
There no described original inhabitants of Delhi

Salute India,Good Video
Many of my relatives migrated from Lahore to Calcutta in '47. The stories have passed on, and still do horrify me. It petrifies me how they left their house, their jewelry, and their Lahore, all at the fate of one night. Heinous tales of violence against women, beheading, and whatnot was all that covered those 3 months of communal hatred. Radical Muslim men killed a lot, radicals. We've stood on communal peace and harmony for centuries. Hope all religions thrive in that India, which was one. If we weren't Divided, the fate of this nation would've been something else. One Day.
P.S: No hate towards any religion. It just was the fate of all Hindus and Sikhs in Lahore, in the whole of North-West Frontier Province in fact, and so that was it. Peace :)
Feeling bad for yamuna river😕
My grandfather moved here when he was 16 or something with nothing and here im 18 yo writing this comment
Time is very fast
Now we are divided, britishers finally succeeded. Our nation was united and thread of our relations never separated until britishers came to divide and conquer.
Actually india was divided into small kingdoms before British came. All of them fought each other giving British the advantage. But that's not a problem. The problem was that Mughals, Islamic rulers stayed in india and used indian revenue on Indian land. While British took wealth into their nation.
@@niranjandesai6766 typical Marxist bs. The Islamic rulers weren't as benevolent as you make them out to be.

Hello, can someone please tell me more about the lifts as the lady recalled taking lifts which was so commonplace those days as she mentions . Was it really so like she says ? Were people really in the habit of taking lifts and offering lifts ? Like if I have offered a lift to a woman and she hasn't asked for any lift supposing back in the day, wouldn't it amount to eve teasing and outraging the modesty of woman like in the present ?
What r u trying to say!?.. nonsense.. why not u offer lifts to men now on. Nobody would question you for ‘outraging modesty‘ for at least another half a decade!
Ladies felt safe.......No pollution...No cars.....Clean Yamuna...These are some of the things Delhi will always miss
Clean yamuna , was dirty, polluted by congress government . They was built in legal chemical factory, leather factory on bank of yamuna. And release waste of factory in river. Today time most polluted river.
1.Water bodies are polluted all over india
2.Almost all indian cities Have AQI above 100 , and india is the most polluted country
3.ladies are No where safe in india, Now-a-days
4.Overpopulation is a problem in every state
So Entire India has changed, and all Indians will miss these things
