Thank you for posting that. My Grandparents were from India from English and Irish family. Their children were also born there. They all have fond memories of India although they had to leave during the 40's. They were sent to England initially. However, being Indian ( regardless of UK descent) they were ostracised. It wasn't long after they were sent to Australia. Sadly my grandparents never had that feeling of belonging to a country, and were, in fact refugees after they left India :( I know that India needed their independence but I think some families should have stayed, as this was the only life they knew

Thank you for posting that. My Grandparents were from India from English and Irish family. Their children were also born there. They all have fond memories of India although they had to leave during the 40's. They were sent to England initially. However, being Indian ( regardless of UK descent) they were ostracised. It wasn't long after they were sent to Australia. Sadly my grandparents never had that feeling of belonging to a country, and were, in fact refugees after they left India :( I know that India needed their independence but I think some families should have stayed, as this was the only life they knew
