You are really welcome to Sweden, there are some things that probably seem strange at first. But you have already tasted the tougher part, the Swedish winter and the lack of daylight during the colder season. Our way is basically friendly, what feels like a slight distancing from the Swede is more often than not, just a certain shyness or hesitant way until the Swede has learned more about the person they have just met. It rarely has anything to do with distancing or that you have done something wrong. Give us some time and be just yourself. And will work out by itself, it just takes some time.

I love that I found your channel! Moving to Sweden or Scandinavia has been a dream of mine for years. My partner is also a black American and he’s totally down for a new adventure and following me with whatever I want to do, but we’ve both been a bit worried of him standing out and being judged moving somewhere we’ve haven’t really seen any diversity in the videos we’ve watched. We live in St. Louis and he rocks his big natural fro and has more higher education than me, but hasn’t been able to achieve a job of his qualifications because he’s always told he needs to cut his hair or start at the lowest position, then ends up being overworked and never moved up because they love his work ethic too much. We want to start a family one day but the older we get, the more we’re realizing how hard it is here to even have an income that we could have a house and income to raise children with. Looking at statistics we saw Sweden is very high on racial equality and we want our kids to be able to go to school and have friends without feeling different than their peers. We just haven’t seen anyone of color say first hand that they feel welcome in Sweden. I subscribed and can’t wait to keep up with you! Wishing you best of luck, success and happiness on your new life!
Hi Lexi! Thanks for commenting! Its definitely a different experience being here and growing up in majority minority US cities. I'll be sure to make a video about it when I can properly verbalize my thoughts and feelings! But overall Sweden is a nice place to live
There are many black Swedes. More than 1/3 of Swedes are either first or second-generation immigrants, so there is a lot of diversity. I've worked with ethnic Somalis, Gambians, Eritreans, Cameroonians, afro-Carribeans, etc. And in my experience, the Swedish work culture is a lot laxer than the American. Employers generally do not care about hairstyles, and most would probably find a fro quite cool :)
Welcome to Sweden❤🤗! Majority of the Swedes are kind, soft spoken and accommodating. Friendly, I would say just that in most cases, they need time to get to know the person in question better. I moved here some years ago and I've never for once regretted my decision.
I just found your video by accident yesterday. I've been living in NYC all my life. It's so very interesting to see someone from NYC move to another country and hear their experience in that country and life story. I too am kind of done with NYC and all of the bs that's currently happening. Even more surprising, I'm pursuing a career in Product Design too. What a coincidence that you happen to do that for a living lol. Definitely will subscribe to hear more about you and life there in Sweden.
Im also a black American citizen and I just recently got back from Gothenburg, Sweden. I was there for 6 months doing my exchange semester and I absolutely loved it. Once I'm done with school, I would love to move there. You should visit Gothenburg if you haven't already..it would definitely be worth the trip!

Hi there! Must say you are really adventurous moving to Stockholm just like that. But then you are much younger than me. You remind me of my adventurous niece, I'm her godfather. I really wish you luck just like I wish my niece the same. You look so alike! Watching your video I get the feeling you are a bit lonely? Hopefully when the restrictions will be withdrawn step by step you hopefully find some friends. But many Americans before you have realized the Swedes are not as outgoing as you might be used to. Hopefully you will find friends, I really wish so.
I have a few questions and would appreciate your help. :). We have been told that even if someone arranges an apartment prior to arrival, it would probably be a "Second hand" apartment at first...which would be more expensive. We looked at various websites and saw ques that had anywhere from 115 to 300 people waiting to just view an apartment, let alone rent one. The point is that I was cautioned that even after finding a second hand apartment, it can take 3 to 4 years to get a first hand unit. . Do you know if all of the above is true ? Thank you very much for your help. :) Antoine

Hi just want to know one of my friend who is American citizen he want to move permanently in Sweden So if you don't mind please let me know what is the procedure to shift in Swede does he need job contact or he can strat a small business?
I just moved from Sweden a week ago. Went there to stay, found a job but they don’t accept you to start working without the personal number, and the personal number takes from a month to a year depending on your luck. And meanwhile you have to live there with your sufficient resources which means a lot of money considering the housing market and cost of life. Very disappointed
"Alot of people don't look as me"...well if I went to Ghambia the same would apply. Would I be surprised or even mention it? No. With this said you are most wellcome.
To those of you who think all your problems will be solved by emigrating to Sweden, think again. Even if you make every effort to integrate, you will never feel completely a part of Swedish society. It's not because Swedes are racist (though an increasing number are) or because you didn't try hard to integrate. In European ethnic states, non-natives WILL ALWAYS be considered foreigners. Even your children and grandchildren. This will cause resentment among non native immigrants, especially the 2nd generation, and will feed an inferiority complex that will last for generations. These minority groups will then try to force acceptance by claiming systemic racism and demand government intervention (often financial, racial quotas, etc.). Instead of looking to escape your own native land, then try to change the country you've moved to, why not just make your native land the way you want it to be? Most ethnic Swedes don't want minorities in their country but it is very unpopular to express that opinion publicly (they do in private, however).
You are really welcome to Sweden, there are some things that probably seem strange at first. But you have already tasted the tougher part, the Swedish winter and the lack of daylight during the colder season.
