- Hey friends, I'm back with some observations about things that are different here in Sweden than they are in the US! Comment down below some other differences you've noticed or questions you have!
Just take pride in being a contributor to a recycling system where less than 1% of household waste ends up in a landfill (49% is recycled and 50% is incinerated to produce energy). :)
I'm definitely planning to move to Sweden after I finish nursing school next year. It's nice to see a black girl who has moved to Sweden and can share her experience
Great video! It´s fun to hear the perspective on sweden from you that moved here from another country. I lived in sweden all my life and are so used to how things work here so it´s fun to get thoughts on our country and how it´s working from another perspective
Great video! Really refreshingly unique compared to some other similar videos I've seen. 👍 One advantage to picking up your package is of course that it's much less likely to be stolen. The recycling stations are mostly in very dense cities. All of my apartments have had all their recycling locally. Including biological waste like food which powers our buses down here in Malmö. 😄
This was a really helpful video! My wife and I are moving to Sweden in a month or so. We are originally from Atlanta, GA though currently living in London, UK. We're super excited but there are some daunting adjustments we'll have to make, so your videos are super helpful!
Good luck! Glad it was helpful!
Welcome! Hope you will enjoy it!
I can NOT wait to leave GA! This is why im going to do some traveling and check what other countries have to offer
The taxes you are referring to are duties and import tax and that simply applies for everything bought from outside EU.
If you order from the US you have to have extra money available for customs, or call up the tax authorities and pay in advance. It's irritating. If it's another EU country, no such thing.
@@7YBzzz4nbyte Buying within the EU you do not pay anything extra, not a Sweden thing. Also why are you stuck on buying things from the US if you live in Sweden? The EU is bigger than the USA anyway so you have more choices. I am an American who lives in Sweden I am 5'9 118 pounds and I have no problems buying clothes in northern Sweden or EU and I do not live in Stockholm so I do not know why you would.
Love your channel! Welcome to Sweden 🔥 and good luck adjusting your mindset to this 😂
Nice video! Just moved to Sweden myself ☺️🇸🇪
Packages today are not picked up very often at the post office. The freight forwarder sees where you live and if you do not choose, you pick up the package at the nearest agent (shop or similar near your resident) The extra fee you pay to pick up the package is a fee (penalty fee) Trade in Sweden loses customers when we shop abroad. The fee is a way to punish those who shop from abroad and entice them to shop here instead.
About import taxes. I won a t-shirt from a Canadian company, it was free and free shipping. However, they had listed the value as 25 Canadian dollars so I had to pay a staggering 68% of the "cost" as taxes on my free t-shirt. I still payed of I complained about it, as any true swede would. :P
Always by alcohol enaugh so you have home. And restock on the right times when not everyone is shopping. If you always have some at home there's no worries when ure in time of a need :) If you get used to that systembolaget works fine.. Just a mindset..
Hope you will find clothes online or in you're town that can replace what u usually like/by. So you don't need to pay that extra tax... Take care J
very beautiful! and thank you!
I would add that post packages isnt delivered to post offices but to different kinds of stores. There are also more and more kubik places close to where you live where you can pick up your package. Its its a large package like a TV its usually delivered to your home.
You only pay an extra charge, usually VAT, if you shop outside of EU or EES. So if you shop from the US or China you have to pay extra
Hi, How is it going for you now in the UK? How is the work culture? I am in the same position that you were in before deciding to move. My focus is in the UK too but it has not been easy picking up a job from Sweden.
I think you need to avoid buying stuff from America. It can be really expensive. The same happens if you order things in America from the EU. That's the issue not having free trade. We should be happy we have the EU at least. You need to buy your favorite stuff when you visit America and bring in your suitcase, else calculate with that hefty import tax/penalty.
I love this video
Supermarkets actually stocks light beer or ciders (low alcohol content).
Post offices don't exist in Sweden nowadays. Local grocery stores or convenience stores handle your packages.
Hello, I love watching your videos, Greetings from Germany. :)
Sweden has a lot of challenges. A lot.
I wanna move to Sweden soon working on my documents
I actually like this. Because us Americans we are so spoiled. It would actually be nice to spend more times out doors. Walk and be responsible etc. so i like the idea they do it that way
What are the favorite types of spirits in Sweden? I know vodka is popular, what what else?
If the product is from another member of the European Union, you don’t pay extra ;)
👁 Sister Outsider 📚… yes 👌🏽
Is there an online group for Black American Women in Stockholm?
I love that Sweden's laws and regulations are mostly the same across the entire country, unlike in the US. Alcohol sales for example: In Sweden, you know it's only sold in government regulated stores. Whereas in the US it's different in each state: In NY you can't but liquor in the grocery store, in CA you can buy liquor in the grocery store, in PA and MA it's only sold in state stores, in TX you can't buy it before noon on Sundays. Sweden just seems so well organized and transparent - much less guess work over how things are done in different parts of the country.
I wish Sweden was more like the US. Different states, different lifestyles.
I'm planning to move from Canada to Sweden
Why, what are your reasons ?
@@titus_k2s I hear it’s a better place
From what i have understood real recycling isnt very common in the US, please prove me wrong. Another thing most Rental apartments and Bostadsrättsföreningar have recycling stations very close.
The taxes and fees will be added on when u order from Non EU countries...im pretty sure if u order goods from the EU when u are in the US then US customs will add tax too......or?
Yes and no on recycling-it largely depends on the state. I grew up in NYC and real recycling was standard, And you may be right in terms of ordering goods from the EU, I think I just shopped at mostly US brands before moving here 🙂
I think it actually outside the EEA, but that just EU + Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
hmm i allways get my things home deliverd.....
On #2: No porch pirates.
As a old fart i hate these scooters but would love them if i was young again
In Swedish, the word scooter is used for a different type of vehicle, namely a snow mobile: ruclips.net/video/ETn-HTthooE/видео.html
@@7YBzzz4nbyte yes and no; for snow mobile the swedified form "skoter" is used, if you write it "scooter" you mean the Vespa style two-wheeler.
@@Swedbander oh, I wasn't that picky with the spelling 😅 I know vespa but didn't think of scooter as the name for vespa.
Lmao the electric scooters
What are the most racially diverse cities in Sweden?
Every nation has it"s challenges.
When I see those electric scooters I get the urge to break them because inconsiderate idiots just park them in the middle of biking lanes, life was better without them.
SWEDEN - THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD
No its not. There are much better.
4 things was regarding to shopping and what to do with the leftovers and the last was about moving without a car, u r american, right 😂😘
1. You can't "move to Sweden" unless you have a job waiting for you here.
2. IF you have a job waiting for you here you can get a permit to work for a set amount of time.
3. IF you want to live here, learn the language. Yes we all speak English, no you can't work here if you don't speak Swedish.
This goes for all nations outside of the EU, including the UK and the US.
not true lol
Sunday supose to be church day, so no need for selling alcohol!?
You can get packages delivered to your door, but you need to be at home and show your ID card, and sign there tablets.. its easy, its for your own securety!
There is no tax duties inside EU, buy your favorit products frome online companies inside EU! And one dont need to pay for tax declaration, thats a fee that DHL/ others need you to pay, becuse they do that job for you.. kinda american dream??
Recycling is a seriouse matter.. it easy your mind about your own footprint to the world warming, and one get some exercise to.. win-win!
Electric scooters gonna be regulated, becuse they are lieying everywhere and become a hazard for pedastrians, cyclists older people and disabled.. on the pedastrian/cyclists pawed sidewalks!
Well south of Sundsvall there barely are any Swedes, mostly Arabs and Africans. Just saying.
When start look up from screen must see in when outside so See how lie 🤥
Or if not you not live south of anything in Sweden and actually not have a clue what is real But stop Lie 🤥
Name checks out
Russian troll 😡
Yes that's right, but they are very far south of Sundsvall. Or Sweden altogether for that matter.
@@RobertClaeson there has been people murdered by them as far up as Luleå though, the country is a disaster, glad I don't live there anymore.
