I moved to Sweden six months ago from the UK but using my Irish passport. It took about 6 weeks to get my personnummer and then another 4 weeks to get my bank account and Bank Id. I work in biotechnology (life science tech) so English is the working language but I am learning Swedish as I love it here and want to make it my home. We definitely need more people who know how to work in Grade A cleanrooms and/or know flow cytometry but there are so many EU applicants, and it's easier to hire EU nationals, that we either hire them or non-EU citizens who are already in Sweden with a visa. If you are a non-EU citizen then I think you would have to be phenomenally talented for an employer to consider going to the trouble of arranging a visa for you. But who knows? Maybe you are. Follow your dreams. They might lead you to this beautiful country.
One query. The time you were waiting for your personal number to open a bank account, how were you getting your salary? I am asking as you mentioned that it took 6 months to open a bank account after receiving the personal number. Thanks for any response.

Your best bet is to register with arbetsformedlingen.se-you don’t even need a Personnummer. That said, I’ve found that LinkedIn is a great resource even in Sweden. My advice is to include a cover letter in Swedish explaining your situation and letting the employer know that you plan to move to Sweden as soon as you have a job (and how soon you can start a new job). You’ll of course also want to make sure you include a well written CV that highlights the skills they’re looking for-definitely key!
