Congrats Stefan, so happy for you that you got your official Swedish citizenship!!! You have definitely become more European over the years and I'm glad you can now stay in Sweden without worries or any limits of any kind. We love our neighbor Sweden here in Norway, and now you are officially a neighbor of us as well!🤩🤩
Congrats! I moved to Borlänge in 1997, am a dual citizen as well. Been in Buffalo where I’m from (born in Buffalo 1977-moved to Sweden in 97) since 2009 as my Swedish hubby and son wanted to live here for a bit. But we are moving back when hubby retires. Wish it were sooner. I miss Sweden so much. I feel just like you about Sweden. It’s home.
How exciting! I'm happy for you. A good friend is taking her exam today for French citizenship and I have my permanent residents card. It was lovely to hear your feelings of belonging from the beginning. I knew that I belonged in France even before I arrived. BTW, my.father was Swedish and the other side of the family came from the UK. I was the first born in America and knew that I belonged in Europe at a very early age.
Congratulations! I would LOVE to be a Swedish citizen. I used to live there many years ago, then I flew there for work weekly, for many years. I have a great job now in the US that keeps me here, but being a Swedish citizen is a dream of mine.
Nice to hear, much people here especially women dreams about moving to USA as they obviously watch to many romantic movies probably and never see the reality overall
Congratulations Stefan! I agree with you that Sweden feels like home. I haven't been able to visit since 2003, however every time I landed at Arlanda airport it felt like a weight had left my shoulders. Welcome home! Välkommen hem!!
Lovely to hear you, and your experiance and your positive attitude to all the ups and downs. I got encouraged to hear you and your story. Thanks for sharing
Congratulations on becoming a Swedish citizen! As a native Swede, it’s been very interesting and exciting to learn what it’s like for people who grew up in other countries to share their experiences with living in Sweden and its culture. I’m looking forward to seeing future content on your channel. And again, congratulations for becoming a citizen!
MAJOR CONGRATS!!! 🎉 You are inspiring! I am a fellow American starting my immigration journey to Sweden too and I also lived in Germany when I was young! It took you only 7 years from 2017-2024 to get your dual citizenship! If you could please do some videos on the nitty gritty of the process you went through and new challenges with filing American taxes for dual citizenship, that would be tremendously helpful!
Oh my goodness, congratulations Stefan!!! Having been a follower of yours since you started making videos this is so awesome to see. You're living the dream and have genuinely inspired me to do the same. I'm currently in the process of getting Argentine citizenship after being born and raised in the US and have my eyes set on Sweden (or maybe Spain) next! Keep it up!
I'm glad to be one of the early 'congratulators' here. I've followed your videos from the beginning and was wondering when this might happen. I can fully relate to your experience, albeit in a much more rural way. My family history is split nearly 50/50 to German and Swedish, yet the DNA does not lie when it says that I am about 72% Nordic, with most of that being Swedish, and only 25% German. My first trip to Sweden was in 1971 when I was 20. It took me 40 years to get back here. Three years ago I made the jump and purchased a farm three hours north of Stockholm and fifteen minutes west of E4. There was no mistake in doing this. I never got over my first trip to Sweden and it only took me 50 years to 'come home.' I have never felt as 'at home' in the US as I do here in Sweden. I look forward to this very same day for myself. I have long believed that we are born with relatives, but sometimes it take a long time to find out 'family.' The ideal is that they be one and the same, yet it is rarely the case. I've also come to believe that we may be born in a particular place, but finding our home may take a while.........it took me 70 years. I am in the process of shipping all of my tools, equipment, household things and my three Volvo Amazons over. I know I will have arrived when I drive out of the lane that leads to the 307 in one of the Amazons. Again, welcome home. To everyone reading this, may you also have the courage to take the leap of faith if it means moving to a new continent.
Thank you for sharing your story! I'm glad you have found your place in the world. It sounds wonderful. I'm from Sweden (dad's actually from Chicago though) and can very much relate to the Amazon part. I had an Amazon for 12 years (it was my grandparents' car originally) and then I sold it to a gentleman who has now fully restored it to its former glory and shows it off at local vintage car shows. Anyway, good luck to you with your new home and take care of those Amazons 😉
What part of Sweden do you live in now? I'm about half way between Hudiksvall and Sundsvall and about 15 minutes west of E4. This is a wonderful area in so many respects. It's nice to connect with people from all over Sweden. It always assists with my education. @@connyjohnson855
Congratulations! I'm genuinely happy for you. I'll be starting my journey to Sweden in just a few weeks, and this video gave me the courage I needed and cleared up all my doubts. Thank you for sharing!
Stort GRATTIS!!! 🥳
How exciting, congratulations Stefan! 🎉🙌🏻😊🇸🇪 I’m a Swede who was living in WA state when you first started uploading videos about Sweden. I remember I thought it was really interesting that we basically switched places, so I was intrigued to follow your journey. 😊 Since then I have seen your channel grow bigger and bigger. Thank you for all the great content you’ve created throughout the years. And once again congrats on gaining your Swedish citizenship! 🤩🤩
Congratulations from Finland too. That is sure a relief that no more that byrocrasy. I have heard same things about Finland and it is not easy process to move here permanently.
I actually became teary eyed when I saw you had finally received your citizenship. What a JOB it was get to this point. Sweden should be very lucky to have someone like you being an upstanding, contributing person adds to the country. I grew up in Goteborg, met my husband, from Minneapolis in Chamonix, moved to NYC where he worked, married in Sweden a year later and live in Rhode Island since many years. Unfortunately when I received my US citizenship Sweden didn't allow dual passports, but I still feel Swedish to the core.
Congratulations Stefan! I understand why you feel at home here hearing this story. Didn’t know about your ancestry. You’re a good source of info on sweden and life here for potential expats wanting to move here or study here. I’m a native Swede but like watching your videos for the outside perspective and comparisons on the good and the bad aspects of living here.
We're so happy to have you! 😀🤩🥳🇸🇪🇺🇲
very much congratulations to you Stefan for the citizenship, god bless you brother, It's my life long dream to achieve a Swedish citizenship, and I exactly know what you mean about that so, than you very much for creating this channel as well sharing your ideas, views, & information with us.
As a Swedish citizens born and raised here! I had a similar experience when my passport had expired. I tried to get it renewed but they said I could not prove that I was a Swedish citizens. I had just moved across the country and had to go back to my home town and bring a family member to testify that I was indeed swedish.🙃🤷🏽♀️
