You do have to poke around in the voice lines bank, at least early on. (Although some of the lines are interesting, and they're among the earliest indicators the siblings actually don't think alike.) In retrospect, kind of glad I ended up a Lumine main because spending more time with her made for an easier transition into the more active role the protagonist starts taking later on once they're finally acclimated and start understanding parts of how this world works.
Annnnd... Ofc, when Mihoyo introduces elements that are so op that even the free MC gets a reason to be played. (They don't just hate free, they are utterly disgusted by the word alone)@@DanaOtken
@Yasper-2TS Almost every character that's released has at least one top build that includes Xiangling, and if you build that team, there is nobody that you can put in her place that will perform as well at that role. I'm not saying that she's the best solo character, or the best on field driver, but she's certainly the best off field pyro option available, and even after Dendro, pyro comps are plenty relevant, especially after Fontaine.
As a Genshin player from the start, here's my advice. 1)Only play if you're not going to get sucked in the gacha. It's not worth it. I don't understand it but I keep hearing about people who spend hundreds or thousands on it, and while I'm thankful for the free content, that's honestly kind of crazy. If you wanna spend money, 5 a month for the daily gems is more than enough to get the characters you want. That's 1/3 of what WoW asks. 2)You don't need to minmax or BiS since there's no PvP or hard content. This means that even if your favorite character ends up being one of the common weak units in the tierlist, you can do the majority of the content with them. 3)There's three+ years of content, take your time and do all of it and you'll get enough rolls to save up and get as many characters as you want, so literally just pick the characters you want from future leaks and save up to get them and you're set. See it as a long time thing and not as something to do all at once. 4)Don't ever use your gems for more energy. Just wait until tommorow, the game is not going anywhere and the rewards might not even be worth it. Honestly don't obsess over energy even if it caps, the game is not going anywhere, you can quit it and come back. 5)C6 Bennet. Do it, coward.
I agree with most of your points, but I do have dispute with point 1. I'd say it's irrelevant. That gacha system is at least honest and fair imo, so if you wanna play for the sake of gacha, just go on. If people were to argue, "you're literally paying for pixels"; no, not really. You're paying for an experience. The characters are adorable voiced by 4 different VAs in different languages. Other than that, if you aren't going to spend a dime, you're in for a slightly/moderately higher time investment. Money and time are usually inversely proportional to each other meaning if you spend more money, you usually will spend lesser time. The game is playable for both F2P and spender. Most 1.0 or earlier player will say you shouldn't spend because you will eventually have 80%. That's because in the old days, we only have 2 instead of 4 (6 in the future) banners per patch. We had ample time to save up for new characters. Hence, new players really are susceptible to FOMO and it's alright to spend. It's your money so do what you want, but I do agree with the latter. The Blessings of the Welkin Moon (a monthly pass that gives additional gems daily) is enough and actually more economic than directly buying genesis crystals. Unless, you're trying to min-max every single character (C6R5)~
You even dont need to gacha where as in other games you need the new gacha chars to progress. In GI using non gacha chars is sometimes even more gratifying as the game gets somewhat more challenging. Especially the high tier 5stars of sumeru and fontaine make the game partly hilarious easy. Alhaitham-Kuki Zhongli-Neuvi Furina-Jean.... So going back to kaeya-xiangling-traveller-Barbara shows you really dont need any 5-stars. Still i have welking moon since 18 month. Not giving something is unbalanced.
@@oHarlequinn I mean like don't get sucked in to the point where you spend more money than you're willing to. I roll too, but if I don't get the character then that's meh, I'll get them next time. But there's people who are vulnerable to gacha and will keep spending and if they know they're going to fall victim to this then they should just avoid it altogether.
5) NEVER. Get out of my head demon!!! Eula needs him! There will be abyss without robots with their cursed physical res. There will be soon... there will be...
@@humantacos9800 botw did not create its mechanics stamina gliding climbimg existed even before it and genshin also has a more interesting combat system with its elemants
@@humantacos9800 Nope the combat is completely different, the puzzles are different, and it is more story focused feels quite different then Zelda, it did copy climbing, and gliding tho.
"A fart with eyes" Oh god you nearly killed me with that! I was eating and the food went down the wrong pipe... THAT is THE best description of Paimon to date!
I started my journey with Genshin in 1.0, started playing it because so many Zelda content creators played it at launch and to me a game like Zelda on pc was amazing since Nintendo prices here are abysmal. After few days it didnt feel much like Zelda to me anymore. I played f2p for 3 months and cleared all content the game offered at the time and I bought a gem pack not for a character but for the devs since I felt good giving back to them for an awesome game (I did the same in Warframe for example). The anime look was never for me, and yet this one charmed me. The world that felt alive, and its lore are awesome. It's like if single player Elder Scrolls got a new game every year. The music and great looking places also made the game feel better. Exploring Dragonspine back in 1.2 was so good, I felt nostalgic to the time I first played Skyrim. I really fell for the world and some characters I found enjoyable, never regretted anything I bought and never felt pressured to buy stuff either. The combat is simple yet has so many fun internal things I enjoy learning about. The elemental system is amazing. I love how the elements are everywhere in the land, people and gameplay. I never felt burnout even if I play every day and since the game allows me to do my dailies in 15 minutes when I eat breakfast I can freely enjoy other games without feeling like I'm falling behind, that's what makes me dislike MMO's. Genshin managed to climb into my list of favorite games of all time, and I will play it for the foreseeable future especially with now that the game matured and the developers after 3 years started to perfect what exploration feels good and how they write their stories as latter regions are like night and day in those terms. No endgame doesnt bother me as I play for other things and the devs did say multiple times their core audience has no interest in it so I see it as purely casual experience.
It didnt feel like Zelda bc the people that complained Genshin is like Zelda are beyond delusional asf & are lying to you… They used Zelda as an excuse to bash Genshin despite them being completely different games… That is why it no longer felt like Zelda at all to you.. bc the game Never was like Zelda.. the only thing that was in common was climbing & gliding & i dont even remember if gliding was on Zelda.. lol…
This game has a beautiful artistic style and some regions absolutely breathtaking. As F2P player, this game is a God send. Since it's not a PvP game, there's no pressure to keep up, just explore the world at my own slow pace is a pleasure.
Paimon is the 9th spirit of Ars Goetia and the 22nd spirit of Pseudomonarchia Daemonum and in Dictionnaire Infernal he is first listed as the sixth spirit and then later as the third King. By lore it was stated; if King Paimon appears alone, a sacrifice must be made to summon Lebal (sometimes refered to as Bebal) whom is together with Paimon one of Lucifers most trusted / devout followers. Powers of King Paimon are as following: teacher of science and answering questions truthfully, knowledge of all arts and "secret things", (such as knowledge regarding the earth, it's water and the winds). Paimon is also said to be able to reveal hidden treasures and have an understanding of all the affairs of the world.
In case you're not playing genshin: there are actually a lot of reference names from the Ars Goetia such as Barbados or Andrius. The names aren't randomly picked since there all kind of Demons/Gods. Also the hebrew alphabet is included as names of a specific type of boss, in case you're also interested in that
@@akumamyuto466 oh I am well aware :) my comment seem to have become a separate commentwhen I tried to add it as a comment on someone that referenced that "isn't paimon a king of hell" or something of the sort :3
i am glad that humanity in the real world is so f'd up that there will be a never ending source of material for fantasy to thrive and build upon. in other words, i love it when paimon does her little angry dance and stomps her feet in the air because we verbally slighted her in some manner.
I wish there would be a similar singleplayer RPG that you pay one time just like a regular game and an alternative in-game game mechanic to collect cute characters.
I’m a Genshin girl, AR60 with many really good and some not so good Characters. A light spender, I do get BP and the Welkin…. It is also true that a person can play the game and do well without spending at all.
One of my most loved games in last decade among Witcher 3, Breath of the Wild and FFXIV. I spend 5$ a month for the passive primo income and already have most of th ebroken characters and a lot of other ones with decent gear. I never played any other gatcha, they look like 2D shitty cash grabs, but this just looks and plays like an AAA title with rly good story, combat and a lot of free updates. Everyone should at least give it a try and expirience this amazing game :)
I'm an old veteran playing for more than 2,5 year, much invested in the game and this was absolutely hilarious. I can say that this game is a wonderful precious gem that... is being totally wasted. Like, it has almost no content to play your characters on their full potential. What is even the point of getting more and more characters, investing in them, when there is no content... It's completely crazy and horrible. And list of issues can go on and on. There are things to enjoy, like story with time became really good. But overall, ehhh...
that's because you're using the wrong mentality. And it's not really your fault. Meta and theorycrafters force people to seek the highest possible stats. That's the wrong way to play a game, you're not supposed to extract numbers and play robotically with optimized rotations that exclude moves from your kit. Games are balanced around the player using every mechanic and stat, and characters are balanced around the game, and so does enemies follow suit. Once you start theorycrafting and minmaxing you start breaking the game by removing the so called "excesses" in favor of higher numbers. Due to how using this data became the norm now players expect the game to be balanced around sweaty tryharding. Some devs cave in and force enemies to become tougher and more skilled demanding, which in turn further break the balance of the game and makes it lean heavily over specific builds. Other devs ignore meta and continue to develop the game by the original rules, which the player base then complain and call the game easy. Meta seeking is the wrong to play any game, you should seek to enhance each character or build strong points, yes, but not to the point of ultra specialization. Have more fun with he game's systems. You'll see that the games are not as easy as people claim, when you respect the game's rules. To begin with theorycrafting was invented precisely because some people are bad at the game and feel incentivized to cheese it through hyper focus in minmaxing to trivialize content
@@bloody4558 Can you stop imagining things? I nowhere said or suggested anything about META. And are you even serious? Genshin has no fun content to play our characters. It's exactly the opposite of what you are telling. There is no content, so people just keep arguing about META. There was one event - Divine Ingenuity, with custom domains, which has shown what is the potential of Genshin for fun content. It's totally wasted and game is ruined. Good luck on opening your eyes. As well as on not imagining things and making sense in the future.
I played Genshin during its release. Found it boring for the most part but I was addicted on getting new characters. Re-installed it, decided to put up with the most generic story to gain rewards and in-game currencies. Liyue, (2nd area) caught me by surprise. Soundtrack, exploration and even the story tops everything so far. I never thought I would experience a slow-burn kind of storytelling that is well set up and with an amazing finale - in a gacha game. TBH it made Avengers Endgame (both were released same year in my country) look like an expensive piece of garbage. But be warned, Genshin is not without toxicity. For example: the Spiral abyss, a place to test team comps and your teams damage output. The enemies deals 3x damage and have 10x their usual health. Sounds fun and challenging, but in reality, it's a timed trial that takes unfairness to another level - unless you're a whale. Artifact grinding can take up to several weeks - even months. Toxic community etc. Overall Genshin is a good game that ppl should try. It's a well-polished AAA game and it's for free with good story. My only advice to newbies is to take things slowly despite the huge amount of content. Overworld is nerfed for casuals but the hardcore aspect (Spiral Abyss) is there for vets.
Since I have seen several people beat Spiral Abyss with barely week old accounts without spending a Dime, I am not sure your " unless you're a whale" part of the comment makes sense, ( only mentioning it because it could lead to people feeling obligated to buy into the idea of: If I dont spend I cannot win!). And Genshin really only makes money nessesary if you wanna buy visual skins. Aggree with the rest of your comment.
@@noitys4912 I don't understand Genshin's aversion to skins. They barely make any and most of them you get for free during their release (for a limited time).
@@noitys4912 To be specific I am talking about 36 stars-ing the abyss. Sure f2p accounts can compete but most f2p and low spenders will find abyss to be extremely difficult. Whales on the other hand, can casually speed blitz the entire abyss with mediocre artifacts sets.
I've been playing since launch and have never once attempted Spiral Abyss higher than you need to unlock Xiangling and Lynette. It's just so much more chill to not worry about it.
the "whale" comment is mostly irrelevant since even I, using not minmaxed not meta, not built team comps can reach floor 11 just fine if i spent any amount of time building dps 4 stars i could easily beat floor 12 aswell it takes time, even whaling wont save you because even with good chars you gotta farm stuff up
I've enjoyed playing, and I agree with everything you said; as the game opens up, there are more mechanics, puzzles, and such that open, and as a result, I find it fun to keep exploring. So far, it remains engaging, even as free-to-play (or perhaps because I don't spend additional money on it).
I've spent $2000 dollars on this game over the few years since it's launch, I have a sort of "Main" account-one where I occasionally wish for new characters as well as a secondary account where I haven't actually wished a single time. I don't feel the need to have every character nowadays and the only time I actually submitted to FOMO was during Hu-Taos debut banner whereas I just go for characters I genuinely like the design of nowadays. Most of my game time is actually spent on my wishless account now, having to many characters makes the game feel like a chore. I have honestly enjoyed the game immensely though and its probably the game I go to most when I just want to take it easy. After three years of this games existence I just feel like its the perfect game to play casually or at my own pace.
Why do people see anything similar to Breath of the Wild and then go OHHH Plagiarism... All of the most obvious things in BOTW game play are not original to that game...
"What is it about this land where even the clergy have cleavage that generated so many dedicated players?" First of all, beautiful alliteration there. Second, the first half of the question basically holds the answer already, doesnt it? XD
7:30 I'd say it sounds more like Tubular Bells, personally. But yeah, even with all the BOTW influence, Genshin really is better than it has any right to be. I played it for *months* before finally running out of content. And I never paid a dime! If you can stave off FOMO, nearly all of the game is fully playable without paying. Only the Spiral Abyss really needs minmaxed characters, and it's wholly optional. (Also, I genuinely love the game's World Level system, which may be the smartest way I've ever seen an open-world RPG handle the problem of incrementing difficulty as the player gains levels/strength. I'd like to see other games borrow from the concept.)
I have played this game and now have maxed a lot of thing including the adventure rank and spent only like 30$ on the game when I first started to catch up with a lot of things. I'd say it's a reasonable amount since it's a free game. My biggest problem isn't spending money since I have self control but the time I have spent. For 2 to almost 3 years I have been playing it everyday and mostly for hours. It was so addicting especially since I don't really have anything to do (still a student) But thinking back, I could've use the time to hang out with my friends, going outside, learn new skills. Like, I'm not even joking for the 'touch grass' meme. The game brought me joy but sometimes I wish I didn't start it lol. I'm still playing it but currently limiting myself since login everyday has feel like a chore (and there are still a lot of contents I haven't do even tho I played everyday) Now I'm trying to limit myself to an hour a day and hopefully once a week. I don't think I'll be spending more money on the game because even tho I do want to have the characters, at the end of the day, they're just pixels and not worth it
I saw a trailer for this game back in I think 2021 and I kept seeing more and more trailers on it as well as a video on the channel Game Theory. So eventually, I checked it out and it through my iPad I fell in love with it, yet it can also be maddening. The micro transactions are OK but when you’re trying to acquire certain items or characters to join you on your adventure and it is basically random that wants me to rip my hair out going like why did I waste my effing money on this? I end up using up my wishing stars or whatever the heck they’re called, and just keep getting doubles of a character or characters that I already have instead of the one I want that I hate. The art style, story, characters, and the voice acting I do thoroughly enjoy. Though trying to level up your character because you need a particular item or material to do so or you need it for increasing the strength of an item yet it is difficult to acquire set material that does irritate me. More so in this game specially where I’m at more so then it does in other games because I am having to do this dungeons/arena challenge and it has a time limit if I overextend the time limit I don’t get the item also I can’t heal my characters.😡 so I can’t quite remember what chapter I’m on, but I have already completed the AIR territory and the TARA territory. But now I’m stuck, which makes me mad. Yet I still can’t help but be drawn to it all the same.
Honestly of all the gacha games ive played. Genshin impact is pretty fair on units. C0 5 stars can do you work as getting the unit is the real challenge for most. The 4 stars can be pretty broken like bennet who is basically the king of accounts The real sink is the artifact system where you must farm so much to get a "perfect" drop but even then you got another rng moment of wanting the right sub stats to get boosted as well. That's the real gacha within a gacha within a gacha that makes you use a lot of time. Story and adventure wise. I wish we could skip or fast forward story. They know we can with the op every reset being able to get skipped same as animation from the trees. Even as a veteran it takes forever to even do dailys when they force you to click. That or make the story shorter and better. Nahida had a great story and actually helped us out. I'll give credit to how they do the side characters. Most games or stories i see make them fall off to the wayside but here yoimiya gets a ton of development same as ayaka as i felt the archons would be seen as rhe mains for example. But they manage to keep side characters in story in some way or another Overall. Not the best experience i have but i never spent any money on it so i had my fun playing
The thing with giving attention to the side characters like Yoimiya and Ayaka - they want people to connect with these characters so they pull for them!
@@sightseek3r you mean like Yu-Gi-Oh making anime of the cards that have lore on token cards? Just sounds like making excuses to not like them balancing out the cast. You know how funny it is considering most gacha games ignore and only focus on the new unit for more money as old gacha units won't make as much especially if you see the money reports. So you are factually wrong on that in every side
Hell, they should have an option to save storage by uninstalling all the cutscenes and dialogue and leave just the gameplay. I suffered all the way through the first three Archon quests, and while the first made for a fine introduction, Liyue and Inazuma were just hours and hours of inane drivel.
What initially got me hooked on this game was the art style and music. Now I'm fully invested not because of the gatcha mechanic, But because of the lore that is in the game. The story overall has improved over the years and it's really amazing to watch it first hand evolve and improve over time.
9:49 excuse me what also coop is not really locked, those players were just too high level for you you can only go "down" in terms of world level > aka wl lvl 4 can join 3, but not the other way around
Love your videos Mitch, if I play games like this its usually on my phone and normally until I hit the wall or get bored. I never spend money of gatcha games, as you pointed out it does nothing but encourage more predatory tactics in the gaming industry. I have never played genshin though as the fact it seems to be so popular turned me off of it really quick. And I can't play with one hand. Harhar.
1st time i tried this game it was just a experience w the beuty views and graphics(it was the 1st time since the ps1 i played a game so might be that??) But the gameplay might not be the most fun and same w the story,But after all the negative i still have it installed on my pc since a few years back n playes it a little every month...but miss the feeling i got during the 1st hour when i 1st started it up...would be great w a new n different kind of a game w same visuals...yes there is that TOWERS named game n that was ok in its own way..but not a great game either..but looks great...so i hope sooner or later something i like will be released..
Funny thing, it looks pretty good and I probably would play this if it allowed me to customize the main character and have equipped gear change the appearance of the characters. But since it doesn't have that, I just don't feel enough of an urge to get into it.
Genshin Impact is basically a JRPG - you play as a predefined character in a story. Sure, you get to choose their gender, and they're written to be easy to get into, but the Traveller sure is not the player, they are their own person.
@@kotarouinugami1745 I really don't get this stereotype of JRPGs having predetermined main characters and western RPGs doing something else. For example in The Witcher, we play as Geralt, in a bunch of Japanese RPGs you get to make your character. And this is a Chinese game.
On an unrelated note, it seems that Mihoyo made a conscious decision to not have any constume variations for Traveller. You can't even wear the mask or the crown of flowers after you use them in quests, although they are clearly implemented. And they do have costumes for other characters. So there must be some plot-related reason for that, but they are never made clear to us.
OMG, your luck was exactly as bad as mine was! Chongyun to start with and Qiqi for first 5\*! It does get better though. I would strongly disagree with you that the game's content is not dense. It actually has much more density than most open world games. I think think that the first area is the least dense though, and also I think some hidden chests only appear after raising your AR, so they wouldn't be there on your first pass (a mistake from early development). The amount of free gacha currency is legitimately fair though, combined with the pity system that guarantees that you will get the character you want eventually, a F2P should have no trouble getting a solid roster of characters that they want over time, it only requires patience, because you won't be able to afford all that right away. Now's a pretty great time to start though, their Chinese New Year celebration is still happening with some significant bonus loot, and both characters on the banner are massive QoL upgrades for any account, plus good 4*s, so it's an easy one to roll on.
Tbh Genshin is my comfort game. There’s so much work that’s been put into crafting beautiful vistas and a truly awe-inspiring ambience that makes it such a calming experience after a stressful day at work.
I’ve been playing for over 2 years now and I still haven’t spent a single cent. I am now level 57 and got almost all the characters I wanted to get. It just needs much time and patience
Genshin just got too samey to me. That and i felt like there were far too many characters. I couldn't keep track of all the lore so i just decided to not care about certain characters, which then led to me wanting to skip most of the dialogue. Which is a pain when 70% of the game is dialogue.
There is one game for mobile that was a gatcha called monster strike. I loved that game. It was quite addicting and playing with your friends just made it that much more enjoyable. I'm not going to disclose how much money I spent all that game because it's embarrassing
12:41 that statement is not entirely correct. In fact for some reason their last year has been quite bad revenue wise and its been found that they have invested into themselves with their own money. Not sure why they are inflating their revenue streams with money from themselves but the games in more of a worse state then people seem to realise. it appears more have quit or more are boycotting the game then people expected. The game is starting to teeter into operating at a loss territory. And it makes sense considering they have been using the same predatory tactics for this "free" game since its launch. Trying to make the most expensive game a "free" game is fortunately ending up to be a bad idea.
I like genshin alot and have spent a grand total of 50 bucks being my monthly limit i allow for a new game or dlc etc across all i played and got lucky but yeah some of the best characters i have gotten i just waited and saved free gems for but I have a friend who dropped like 300 bucks chasing a character so it is totally able to happen if you lack control i'd say giv it a go if you can set limits for yourself if not avoid
What I noticed is you bravely tackling the dragonspine map at below AR 20 😂 Been playing for over 1 year now, and pretty happy with the game. You can do pretty much anything without spending money here. If you are not prone to fomo, peer-pressure, or not a show-offs, you can enjoy the game just fine
Probably the first gacha game I actually understood, and served kind of as a gateway for me to these games. Combat is fun, especially the element system, which is the reason why I stayed. Event mini games can be fun, too. They recently had an event that kind of looks like Potion Permit, it was not for me, for sure, but I had a good fun trying it out. Although, outside abyss and 100%-ing the maps, you kind of don't have anything else to try your teams out. So that's kinda sad.
I am adventure rank 57 in Genshin Impact. To be fair to the game, if you can resist spending you can actually still get a whole lot of characters, especially now that the game has been out for several years and there are so many zones to explore and quests to do. That being said, just like any gacha game it will try to make you spend and if you want to unlock all the constellations (bonuses a character gets for being won more than once) for a level 5 character it gets very expensive very fast. That being said: Most characters don't really need those bonuses to work well. I am not that familiar with other gacha games but overall I think Genshin is a very enjoyable game.
As someone who has been playing and enjoying this game for 3+ years now all I have spent my money on is the $5 pack and bought the battlepass a couple of times which is enough to get me all my favorite 5 stars and a few 5 star weapons as well ....I spend money renewing so many other things irl including other premium pay to play games that compared to those Genshin appears far more generous to me...but for someone that doesn't have that kind of control and is a collector yeah get ready to be sucked dry...🤣🤣
As someone who has played the game since the month of it's launch I'd say you gave a pretty fair assessment. The game does have it's issues but if you aren't inclined towards impulse spending it is something I'd recommend. Combat mechanics; great (simple on the surface but surprising depth to the core systems) Writing; a very mixed bag but generally better as the game progresses World building/background lore; like combining a Fromsoft game with an Elder Scrolls game (there is a massive amount and it is solid while leaving room for mystery) Graphics; average Art direction; well above average Music; far to good for a video game OST Monetization; Honestly bad (expensive gambling). That said the game is balanced around the F2P player base and there is no need to spend a dime. For anyone starting the game the things I'd warn of is one, don't spend money you don't have to waste. Two, the 'rarity' of characters and weapons is not always an indicator of strength or usefulness.
I've been playing it since day 1, and it's nowhere as "predatory" as the gacha stereotypes would suggest. You can comfortably beat the story with only the free characters, and by tossing in 5 euros per month for the welkin moon you'll eventually have far more characters than you know what to do with. If you want to talk about terrifying... The artifact RNG. Farming for artifacts is something that almost nobody likes.
I’ve gotten pretty far in genshin as free to play it’s a grind but the characters are hard to get for me but my best friend gets all the good characters as a good player literally every character I want he gets bruh makes me mad asl sometimes 😂😂
I really like genshim. For sure the gacha is really predatory, but at the same time is a free game with a FULL solo campaign like a pc game or console but is completely free and have on mobile, with a lot of content that has a lot of quality. Just be careful... You can ended up spending a lot of money if you dont have a strong heart and mind 😅. Ps: i Have 300+hours and have spend just a little bit, because was a character that i really like it.
Ah yes, the old days when lightning strikes hitting you were difficult. And then we went to Inazuma. Hm, Lisa who calls us 'cuties' and herself 'Onee-san,' or Kafka who is basically our mother? Both of them have dialogue that are soaked in innuendo, and both use Lightning. Kafka having mind control powers that she uses without any hesitation makes me distrust her, so it's fortunate I have an Aponia in my pocket to counter her with. The most important thing to remember about _Genshin_ is that it is designed to be a super-casual player experience. There's no point at all in trying to get the best characters and the best gear, because RNG is everywhere. It's much more enjoyable to coast through the story and explore the world as well, because once you complete all of the quests, you then have to wait for the next content update to progress. Spiral Abyss is either super-easy or super-hard, depending on whether you've spent your life savings to C6 your 5-stars. There's no in-between. Not that I've done Spiral Abyss in months, I just don't see a point. Mihoyo's first two games were not gachas. _Fly Me 2 The Moon_ was a side-on puzzle game where you flew Kiana around a map, so pretty typical of a mobile game. _ZombieGal Kawaii_ was their first attempt at a side-scrolling actioner, but it ultimately failed. So they remade it as _GunGirlZ_ , and this time included a gacha. _GGZ_ is still open on the CN and JP servers. _Honkai Impact 3rd_ is Mihoyo's first foray into 3D-land, and uses many of the same characters as _GGZ_ . It is one of Mihoyo's favourites, with Part 1.5 in the story closing up now, and Part 2 starting on February 29th. Story, characterization, and character design are some of this game's strengths, however the flashy combat, especially with more recent battlesuits, also stands out. _HI3_ takes heavy inspiration from anime and games like _Evangelion_ , _Devil May Cry_ , and _Bayonetta_ as well. Most people pass on it because it doesn't have an English dub, so if Mihoyo wanted more people to play it, they would do an EN dub, I'm sure. _Genshin_ was Mihoyo's first real break-out hit, both due to having multiple language dubs, and because it was launched cross-platform, the release they wanted for _HI3_ , but didn't have the resources to do. While _HI3_ has modes that are called 'open world,' they're not truly that. This game, however, contains a truly expansive world to explore and enjoy. _Tears of Themis_ is Mihoyo's often-overlooked visual novel-styled police procedural game, with lots if bishounen. I have never seen an ad for it, but I do know it exists. _Honkai: Star Rail_ is a closed-world RPG with turn-based combat, so choosing the right team members plays a more key role than it did in _Genshin_ or _HI3_ . Like _Genshin_ , it has different regions to explore, but where you explore is more restricted, a lot more like _HI3_ 's open world zones, except for APHO where you _can_ jump. And if you've heard of how this game is treated differently from _Genshin_ and wonder why, it's because the Honkai Team handles it, under a different producer. That's all it is. _Zenless Zone Zero_ is the stylish roguelike upcoming entry, which takes its combat cues from _HI3_ . It has had two CBTs so far, and is slated to release sometime this year. The characters include a big bear who swings around a pillar, a penny-pinching gal, a shark maid, and Billy Kid.
It's both nostalgic and a little disheartening how unchanged the new player experience still is. This video could have come out when 1.0 launched. The game has grown a lot since then, but the only changes that a new player notices are even more overwhelming systems they don't need to use yet. Makes me hope that some day they go back through existing content to polish and improve it, but until then it's fun seeing new people going through the same first steps years later.
They improved a lot for new players, like the recent teleport in new areas to them enjoy newer content. But in my opinion they make the pace of the new systems very well. They unlock each stuff little by little, while you advance in the game. Mondstadt is a great experience for beginners. The only early-yet-irrelevant in the beginning is the artifacts. 1-2 star artifacts shouldn't have levels. It's pointless to spend anything on them. Maybe that could be done to 1-2 star weapons as well, but I think it can be too much.
@@pontoancora the two things I mainly see new players confused by are trees dropping lumber despite them not having a Teapot, and the fishing spots/fishing shop icon in Mondstat before being able to actually use either. The systems are paced out by being main-story locked, so the same progression of systems as a day-one player, which is exactly what my comment was about. New players being paced into everything is nostalgic but means the game's first impression has not gone up any over the years. And I've yet to catch a playthrough that actually makes use of the free teleports you mentioned, so that's on my limited experiences for not mentioning.
Love the great video.... Keep it up. As genshin gamer till day 1 im happy this one games i will not drop but take break from time to time. If ever other game entice me. I love type of game that have continual content... I dont mind the gacha Im happy to drop money since they deliver what i love content that satisfy my casual need. I enjoy other rpg game like Elden ring, spider man, Palworld however their content end after playing 500-800 gameplay hrs. Gacha games is great game if you learn proper self control so happy you educate ppl in such a way.
• Pros: This video covered about 10% of the game, and there's no reason to spend money unless you're a simp or want to 100% every character. I'd rather pay nothing for a 7/10 freemium game than pay $70 to wait for a day one patch. Characters are cool/pretty/cute, and the character stories range from mediocre to excellent, with nothing I can point to that was really bad, and definitely nothing woke. • Cons: The multiplayer feature sucks, you can't co-op the quests, only challenges, so it's effectively single player. The top of the end game content requires you be autistic or spend money, (but it's just optional combat challenges, and if you start playing now you won't run out of content for months).
Why is there 4 different Lantern Rite events anyway. Why are they making a new story for it every year. What if you missed the first 3 year lantern rites? Does it start from the first one in your game? Nope the newest. Doesn't make any sense. They putting in story and dev time to design something they don't need to all the while having the same terrible wish system that they have had since launch only worse as now four stars are rarer then five stars for some dumb reason. Its like you are not allowed to quit, or not allowed to be a new player. Yet at the same time as a new player the game throws so much as you now you just breeze through the entire game with no trouble. I know this cause I played at launch and quit during Childe's banner and now come back on a new account. Its still fun, even if many many things are dated and the glider is a lot slower then I remember, you just have to play it in a way where you ignore the gacha system entirely and never spend a cent.
I have no problems with Gacha games, been playing Genshin for 4 years and only spent around 30 dollars in it, if you don't want to spend money than it's fine, being f2p you can get most of the characters you want, unless you actually are trying to get ALL the characters. I like that in Gachas you can choose how much money you want to spend, unlike subscription based games, hate those.
You’re not wrong. I’ve purchased gta v several times from disc to digital, extra copy for a broken one and generation change. It’s much more money than any gacha would have gotten from me. But, maybe that’s cause I don’t like repetitive games.
had forgot that due to a schyzo in china they nerfed the bootie, then all gaming studios almost collapsed, and they make him desapear... but why is the booty not back yet?
Genshin impact is one of the best games I have ever played..absolutely love it, and the system is fair..you don’t have to spend a dime on the game but I like to support things I like..simply getting the battle pass will not only help you but the creators as well
"Haunted sugar cube magic" I mean, for all we know about it, it might as well be LOL Nice lightning strike. It's always funny when you get smacked right out of the cutscenes. I once had a boar bulldoze me right out of my face to face conversation. It became a scene of Xiangling having a long discussion about meat products with the empty air Good beginning overview. It's an excellent game if you are not susceptible to spending over your budget. If you're at all likely to get yourself in trouble with impulse purchases, I'd avoid it (and all microtransaction-funded games). But if you've got a firm hold on your impulse purchase habits, Genshin is a _very good_ game that you can absolutely play for free with what it gives you, without missing any content at all.
I was going to comment about how I am "avoiding this game like the plague" but you already said that. Still, I can't believe I watched a video about it lol GG Mitch
Gacha is like alcohol. Yes, it's possible to become addicted to it but most can deal with it just fine. Demonizing alcohol fell out of fashion long ago, a friendly reminder that it has its pitfalls and availability of rehab treatments is all that's really needed.
The gacha is pretty fair im my opinion if you hold the currency you can get the char your like without spend any $, just dont spin in weapons banners its waste spins
I played for a while early on, I did everything you could do at the time. I had some fun with it but the story never hooked me, the characters all just felt forgettable and the gameplay loop got repetitive. It was also one of my first experiences with a gotcha game as well, it got me looking at pulls online and made me realize how disgusting this genre of game is.
I played this game for a few months and managed to avoid paying anything for a while. But my random pulls kept giving me characters with similar elemental move set and on several points I was flat out blocked from story content because I didn't have someone required despite being over leveled. So I spent a little so I could move on. Then I did again to try and get higher starred characters. After the third time spending trying (once again) to get a character to move on, I was like "I got to stop. This game is too addicting to me". And that's my story. Seriously other than the characters the game gives you, I only kept pulling Lightning characters with increasingly higher stars.

I sometimes forget that the MC has a voice
@@hiiambarney4489 I mean, Xiangling Is the highest tier character in the game, so. . .
The latest character story quests have done alright giving Traveler a few more voice lines
Alhaitham-Kuki

@@oHarlequinn I mean like don't get sucked in to the point where you spend more money than you're willing to. I roll too, but if I don't get the character then that's meh, I'll get them next time. But there's people who are vulnerable to gacha and will keep spending and if they know they're going to fall victim to this then they should just avoid it altogether.

It didnt feel like Zelda bc the people that complained Genshin is like Zelda are beyond delusional asf & are lying to you… They used Zelda as an excuse to bash Genshin despite them being completely different games… That is why it no longer felt like Zelda at all to you.. bc the game Never was like Zelda.. the only thing that was in common was climbing & gliding & i dont even remember if gliding was on Zelda.. lol…
sorry for you to play this game, its tbh pretty horrible
All praise Paimon
In case you're not playing genshin: there are actually a lot of reference names from the Ars Goetia such as Barbados or Andrius. The names aren't randomly picked since there all kind of Demons/Gods. Also the hebrew alphabet is included as names of a specific type of boss, in case you're also interested in that

@@Jev_the_fluorescent_shrimp L comment
that's because you're using the wrong mentality.
Correction to my first comment - unfortunately even story and world building in Genshin became complete nonsense. Game is ruined, that's it.

Your reviews are the best Mitch! Your reviews are always fair and are provided with great humor!
The 4 stars can be pretty broken like bennet who is basically the king of accounts
The real sink is the artifact system where you must farm so much to get a "perfect" drop but even then you got another rng moment of wanting the right sub stats to get boosted as well.
But they manage to keep side characters in story in some way or another
Overall. Not the best experience i have but i never spent any money on it so i had my fun playing
The thing with giving attention to the side characters like Yoimiya and Ayaka - they want people to connect with these characters so they pull for them!

The title screen? That’s a bit of landscape footage from the game and the games logo edited In
Then what character is on screen doesn’t look like any that I know
As someone who read every book when it was only monstad and liyue. The new content was overwhelming... I must get back to reading again.
What initially got me hooked on this game was the art style and music. Now I'm fully invested not because of the gatcha mechanic, But because of the lore that is in the game. The story overall has improved over the years and it's really amazing to watch it first hand evolve and improve over time.
9:49 excuse me what
also coop is not really locked, those players were just too high level for you
you can only go "down" in terms of world level > aka wl lvl 4 can join 3, but not the other way around
Love your videos Mitch, another great job. You are the most entertaining reviewer on You tube, a real talent
Harhar.
1st time i tried this game it was just a experience w the beuty views and graphics(it was the 1st time since the ps1 i played a game so might be that??)
But the gameplay might not be the most fun and same w the story,But after all the negative i still have it installed on my pc since a few years back n playes it a little every month...but miss the feeling i got during the 1st hour when i 1st started it up...would be great w a new n different kind of a game w same visuals...yes there is that TOWERS named game n that was ok in its own way..but not a great game either..but looks great...so i hope sooner or later something i like will be released..
Ah yes. Baron Bunny. Source of terror and carnage.
@@penttikoivuniemi2146 To me, JPRGs and western RPGs are more like separate genres than about being from some specific country.
Let no one distract you from the fact that the Calvary captain doesn’t even have a horse
Tbh Genshin is my comfort game. There’s so much work that’s been put into crafting beautiful vistas and a truly awe-inspiring ambience that makes it such a calming experience after a stressful day at work.
who is the artist of the artwork used for the video thumbnail
Well done. Really like this one.
The comedy is spot on. Great vid!
When I complete my rosters of must have 5s weapons on every weapon type. I only focus on getting the char that I want now.
Is it just me, or did Mitch change the thumbnail for this like 5 times?
How the hell dont you have a million followers???? You are genuinely the best rpg/mmo reviewer on RUclips
Well said!! It's a mystery to me too
I like genshin alot and have spent a grand total of 50 bucks being my monthly limit i allow for a new game or dlc etc across all i played and got lucky but yeah some of the best characters i have gotten i just waited and saved free gems for but I have a friend who dropped like 300 bucks chasing a character so it is totally able to happen if you lack control i'd say giv it a go if you can set limits for yourself if not avoid
The agonizing screaming at 3:13 is like music to my ears 😌.
What I noticed is you bravely tackling the dragonspine map at below AR 20 😂
Been playing for over 1 year now, and pretty happy with the game. You can do pretty much anything without spending money here. If you are not prone to fomo, peer-pressure, or not a show-offs, you can enjoy the game just fine
Honestly the only content producer who is guaranteed to make me laugh out loud at least twice during a review.
Brilliant, just brilliant.
I have played other gacha games and you need character copies to beat content like MLA and Afk arena
Cavalry Captain without the cavalry on his command.
Btw...what is Pimon?
As someone who has played the game since the month of it's launch I'd say you gave a pretty fair assessment. The game does have it's issues but if you aren't inclined towards impulse spending it is something I'd recommend.
Combat mechanics; great (simple on the surface but surprising depth to the core systems)
Writing; a very mixed bag but generally better as the game progresses
World building/background lore; like combining a Fromsoft game with an Elder Scrolls game (there is a massive amount and it is solid while leaving room for mystery)
Graphics; average
Art direction; well above average
Music; far to good for a video game OST
Monetization; Honestly bad (expensive gambling). That said the game is balanced around the F2P player base and there is no need to spend a dime.
For anyone starting the game the things I'd warn of is one, don't spend money you don't have to waste. Two, the 'rarity' of characters and weapons is not always an indicator of strength or usefulness.
Holy crap you're actually funny 9:49 actually made me chuckle unlike most genshin videos
Fr, I still using Kaeya at Ar 58 on my second account.
I’ve gotten pretty far in genshin as free to play it’s a grind but the characters are hard to get for me but my best friend gets all the good characters as a good player literally every character I want he gets bruh makes me mad asl sometimes 😂😂
It takes too much space on phone. I had to uninstall it because my phone is just 64 GB 😢
It's not a full solo campaign lol it's not even finished
@@Swagbastian you're right
It's several smaller full solo campaigns
@@Jinni-iras17514 Wrong lol none of them ever conclude the full overarching story so they can't be considered "campaigns"
@@Swagbastian still, there's enough content to make about 2-4 full games
@@pontoancora Depends on what you mean by a "full game". There are quite a few "full games" with extremely little content.
It fascinating to see that people try to find realism while playing a fantasy game. lol.
Omg i havent thought about chocolate rain in yearsss
@zeroiscubed7823 yeah that's truth. But its better to have the logs sooner.

This is not a video I wanted my coworkers to see me watching.

Good beginning overview.

I genuinely thought Genshin was more enjoyable and more engrossing than BotW by far lol. Speaking as a 'core gamer'.
Absolutely love this game
I played for a while early on, I did everything you could do at the time. I had some fun with it but the story never hooked me, the characters all just felt forgettable and the gameplay loop got repetitive.
It was also one of my first experiences with a gotcha game as well, it got me looking at pulls online and made me realize how disgusting this genre of game is.
Play it again
luckily story quality over time going pretty high from inazuma expansion to last one
If I have to study a guide before playing a game, it's not a game but an unpaid job.
"What is it about this world where even the clergy has cleavage" Say no more, we found the reason.
