Honestly you’re motivational quotes are amazing. I learned a lot from you and I have a complete different mind set about things just from what you say in your videos. Don’t stop being you, and keep up the great content💪🏼
Never mind just take your time sanding with a long board and get your lines right and you’ll be good when you prime spray some black as a guide coat and long board it to get your highs down
Im in the same exact boat as you. I have an 03 quadrasteer and i like to do ALL the work on my own. Ive done very little mechanic work and in my driveway i learned how to change my own headgaskets done my exhaust work etc. i relate to this channel ALOT keep it up!
Don't worry about any negative comments, you are saving a ton by doing it yourself and it's a learning experience. You will never know what you are capable of unless you try. Keep up the good work.
I used fiber filled resin on my trunk lid to fill spoiler holes, and then bondo, and glazing putty; and the trunk looks phenomenal now that it is painted....just feather the edges and make sure theres no lumps in the bondo when your finished and it will look great! Love seeing the DIY home garage build. im doing one myself on a mustang on my channel. Keep up the good work and videos!
Your are 100% correct. You learn by your mistakes. Watching your videos have gave me the courage to tackle some of my own project’s. Please keep the videos coming.
Remember at the end of the day, you are the only one that needs to be happy with the truck. Your doing good for not having any experience with body work. Keep it up man!!🤙🏼
Ryan, take your time.⏰ I'm enjoying learning 📓with you as you go through the process.🛠 Good things take time.💯 We "Subs" are along for the ride. Do your thing Brother.👍 Great video.📹 Thanx for the update.👌 Looking forward to the next video post! Peace!✌️
Like one of my last comments, you’re an inspiration. People can talk crap and complain. What ev’s. You’re taking a huge step in doing all this. Plus showing us what goes on in between is exactly what needs to be shown, even if it’s another how many videos of the bed. All good to me. 👍🏽
man screw the haters. if you ever have any questions on further work, hit me up man, i've been doing body work and restorations for over 15 years man. love your channel, just keep doing you my man
AWESOME JOB!..i used to paint and fix friends cars for free just to practice!...lol....did collision for 9 yrs..restoration for 5....anything and everything....KEEP IT UP!!
Hey bud take black primer spray paint and spray your bondo before you sand it the low spots will stay black and high spots will show bondo. It’s called a guide coat I learned the hard way after I painted the vehicle. Keep up the content!
Keep it up my man....no power like power of self!....Looking forward to seeing ur engine build on the CUMMINS...I dont comment very often...but I follow closely!...You on point!
Glad to see so many people that woke up one day and was the best body man on earth never fucked up EVER. Ive done paint and body since i was 10 years old i didnt get good till I was 16 thats when i felt I had gotten good not the best just good till then everything i touched was a lerning process and a shit show.. Keep up the good work Ryan
keep doing your thing bro! have fun with the builds and enjoy them while you’re doing them! screw the haters they’ll always have something to hate about, so block them out!! by far one of my favorite youtubers ever!!!
I personally feel like you are doing a great job I’ve done it once love the videos keep it up your doing amazing love seeing the build happen but dang now I’m excited to see those mirrors on.....
I've been doing body work for years. And your absolutely right! I was thinking, man hes gunna have alot of sanding to make that look good! But hey live and learn right! Keep it up! Quick advice, where powder free gloves! and dont touch the bear metal with your bear hands. It will bubble later! Good luck, cant wait to see the finished product!
Hey man I really enjoy watching all the at home projects. It truly is an inspiration to do stuff yourself. You are always going to have keyboard warriors telling you what you are doing wrong. Please keep up the good content!
The bed will be perfectly fine bro. Don’t pay mind to the journeymen body guys commenting that automatically assume u should do it like they can. Coming from someone who owns an automotive service repair and body shop. Everyone starts somewhere. And the most important thing is that your next project will be better and so on. Your doing good bro. Always enjoy your uploads. 👍🏼💯💯💯
The mirrors have more features but the chevys i believe are all power and heated and some have the turn signals and my 00 suburban had the lights on the bottom
Honestly I think u doin a great job, there’s know book in the world that can teach u hands on,if I could only show u the first vehicle I crammed a bunch of bondo in..
Hey Ryan, first off love the channel and the Cummins. I took auto body in college and have been in the field for 3 years, I’m definitely a newbie as well and bondo work isn’t my strong suit 😂 just working on getting everything straight and flat is the main situation but you can do anything with some bondo and a welder. Driveway projects are the best one I’m currently building my 2014 ram 1500 and am thinking about installing my 4 inch rough country kit right in my driveway!
I like that you are willing to work and learn, but man you should have just searched for a rust free replacement bed and had it shipped to Ohio. Beds in Florida for a truck like yours is 3-500 with tailgate. Btw, I really think you should do a complete Bed-liner paint job to math the ram and cover suspect body work
Yeah my bed on my 01 Silverado is gone. I love to do it yourself route you are doing. But think all of that is to much work for me..so looking for a flatbed lol
Where did you get those mirrors? I need them for my Tahoe bad. I do storage auctions and tow big trailers and those would help so much .please install them fully so it be easy for me to hook them up on my truck!
@@ryan2546 it's not plug and play right? I dont work on cars just pull insane trailers...if it's not plug and play please wire it in for me so I can watch!
Ryan, the people who give you negative comments need to remember that your whole reason for doing this project was to show that the average joe can do this. Sure, people who have done this work before or as a career know how to do it correctly. You’re showing us your mistakes and that how we learn. I have a little rust spots on my truck & I have been watching you to learn. Thanks again for all you do making your videos and look forward to seeing your next videos!
OK, I Have to ask, after all the material, tools and possible time, how much (In contrast) would you have really saved by not just going out and buying a new bed?... i get that you want to learn and all that, but, small projects tend to be more cost effective... no?... just wondering really, no hate, and i appreciate you recording all this and just giving us an insight look at what it would take to tackle this on your own.
Watching the video now.and liking all the stuff you received. As for the body panels, did you try LMC Truck.they are where I went for my '97 F250. They are good people.
Keep up the good work bro...your doing just fine. Ya mistakes will happen but like you said how are you going to learn if you don’t. We aren’t professionals we are garage mechanics turning turds into diamonds.
Looking good. Still trying to see where you find the time to do everything 🤔 there’s only 24hrs. In a day right ? All at least here in ca. 😏 keep up the good work and thanks for showing us that with a little confidence we can do this type of work too
First Ryan Mayer video I’m aware of with not one view of a entire vehicle. FYI don’t let people hate, advice is one thing but the haters, let them come do the work and see how good they are.
RYAN!! HELP INFO NEEDED! My my 2017 Ram 3500 has rear air bag suspension I just saw this last night while trying to hard wire my tailgate light bar and failing but that’s another story....If I have air bag suspension in the rear ( I don’t think it’s a thing in the front, haven’t looked yet) what are my options for lifts. I was looking at zone but now I don’t think that’s even possible anymore without costing me $3-$4k 🤦♀️😭 I don’t know a whole lot about trucks I’m learning as I go - Heather 🇨🇦
Keep on Trucking!... ever consider just to buy a box? up here in Canada many times we got guys that get boxes shipped up from USA and they are rust free ones. if my truck was as bad as yours I would consider it if my plans where to keep it stock looks. but since I am considering a Street Pre runner concept that has wide fenders some travel and yet some load stabilizer air bags so I can haul my race car with it. but that said my box was Linex from the start. so top is great. under it is not. and well mine has the side fender covers. so it is a holly one like yours on the box. I did not put the money in the work like you did. simply cut a metal sheet in a shape so I could rivet and glue the body. Then mesh the fiberglass and just bondo it. it is not a great job put 3M tape and the fender covers back on. slaped some black paint on the bottom half and and got some Cheep used 20 inch rims and tires. anyone could tell it is a crap paint job. but guess what. atleast it was cheap and the truck looks ok from 20 feet.
Place here in Arkansas has about 8-10 7ft beds for about $400 a piece, short beds are $300 if any parts have rust he scraps them it's a rust free junk yard for 99-2007 chevy trucks
If you lay the body filler down right it will not crack or brake I know for a fact we run a body shop and we also derby I had a 76 Chevy I derby and it was full of body filler on the box and after the derby the box was smashed to shit and the truck was rolled an the body filler never cracked. All depends how you lay it down and how u use it
Yeah I don't blame you, I wouldn't want to put a new bed, on a truck with 150k + miles on it either. Did you check out your local junk yards, for 8' truck beds? We have a place here called pull-a-part, also regular junk yards all over the area.
Keep it up man, don’t let anyone drag you down, you are a huge inspiration on my project and I appreciate the chance to learn!
How’s your project going? Also Jesus loves you bro 💪🏼
Everyone can hate in the comment section, but I don’t see them doing this in their garage, having dedication to rebuild the bed! You’re awesome man!
I can't wait to see this truck finished its going to be sweet looking

Dude you should do a raptor liner paint job on it you can tint what ever color you want
raptor line the whole truck. that will fix all your excellent body work.
No raptor liner is a pain in the ass to clean and fades
@@tyleralexander6368 my uncle painted his with the black raptor liner and has had it four years and it hasn't faded
Weve used it here and once it gets used it in the mud salt etc it starts to dull and slowly gets harder and harder to clean
When he paints it and it looks like ocean waves, then he will wish it was kindred.

Secretly he hates Chevy. Wearing Cummins gear, ruining a Chevy, trolling and triggering everyone. 🤣🤣🤣

Ryan, what camera u using Bro for the vlog, I saw the reflection in the truck mirror.
Can’t wait to see the finished truck love the videos and inspiration
Do you have any plans of doing interior restorations or mods? I dont see very much of that on the tube.

get the head mount bro! i remember commenting that you should get a go pro a while ago and you got one😎 they come in handy for working and recording!
I agree with this fine gentleman, they're amazing I watch itsjusta6 aka gavin and he has that setup, definitely a good move!
Yeah my bed on my 01 Silverado is gone. I love to do it yourself route you are doing. But think all of that is to much work for me..so looking for a flatbed lol
But again love the content and your inexperienced do it yourself work
Jealous of those two mirrors! Those are gonna be sweet my man!
Finally someone brave enough to do tow mirrors on a 1500
Single Piston Productions we do them all the time here in northern New York at the canadien border
You think you could make a truck bed out of bondo and use steel to fill in the holes?
Yes I’m certain
I can’t wait to see what wheels you do on it hope there super sick deep dish style
