Right. I bet that paint overspray with the hardener in it dries super fast too. Probably be insanely hard to get off even after a couple of minutes.

BuckFutter the hole he cut in the top of the frame to remove a box bolt is driving me nuts. These Chevys have enough frame issues on their own without hacking pieces out because you couldn’t take the time to get a rusty bolt out.

The frame was not ready for paint. This one needed a sand blast for sure. Good job but....glad your happy.

Not hating, get yourself a moisture trap for your air compressor. Traps all the moisture that might be left in the tank, all the extra moisture will get in the paint

Nice work looks great Basically what I did to my Dakota ... thinning paint but I added a catalyst harder to it and it dried fast and solid as a rock I had my truck apart for almost 2 months doing it and building bumpers ... since I lifted the body to paint the top of frame I added 2” body lift to it so I can get to top of frame for cleaning it later

Thorough job on the bed frame, my only question is how good can you get under the cab, engine area without taking it all off the frame?
Its to late but being a local ohioian I would have recommended priming the frame before painting.

55 gallon air compressor from harbor freight works awesome been using 1 for years. Using air tools on it with no issues at all.

I bought a 22 gallon CH oil dual piston air compressor from Lowe's for $179. Definitely go with a oil cooled compressor they are so much quieter and also get the dual pistons. It will fill the tank so much faster.

TeenageFarmer dude I have a 04 half ton and an 05 three quarter ton, the only difference is the hood on the three quarter is slightly larger, and obviously the suspension

What did you mix the paint with and at what ratio? How much paint do you use and how many coats? Also when it was all said I’m down how many cans of the clear did you go through? Mine will be a little bigger. 4 door 6.5 bed on an f150. Also it’s crazy I watched these videos when they first came out, and now I’m onto doing my own truck and when I search what I need to do I’m brought back to you

How did you sand all the little nooks and crannies on the frame?
For a paint gun you need a low air psi and high volume gun. Then you can paint with only 5 to 15 psi. The compressor will work. But I would recommend the big DeWalt compressor that you can buy or on that size. I have heard really good things about them. The best are compressor is a 80 gallon 180 psi 5 hp compressor. That is what I had but I had the blue point on for snap on. I loved it I would buy it again
How loud was that compressor when it was running in that garage with the door closed? LOL!!
If your gonna do tons of this stuff get a standup Ingersoll Rand they are pricey but worth every penny.

I have an 80 gallon speed air compressor I got from my father about 6 years ago and he had it for over 25 years running big auto body shops

California Air 10 gallon. Great for painting and is small enough to move around.
Ryan you might want to replace those cab mounts also while you're rebuilding it they will start sagging soon with higher mileage if they are not already

Jake I gotcha man. I mean he could be but you never know. He did say a few videos back that they were going to be good quality and good quality hoodies aren’t cheap. A good hoodie from Under Armour, Carhartt, etc are definitely not cheap. I didn’t buy a hoodie just because I don’t need one to drop $60 on but I did get a shirt and a keychain to support the man. Hopefully he will add some good quality hats soon though lol would like a good trucker hat 😂
They’re 10oz hoodies, other people sell 6.5oz hoodies. I made products I’d want to wear I wish I bought them for $10!!! I’d have more in stock than I did

The degreaser needs to be washed off after it’s applied or some of that acetone used to wipe off the surface. First time driving in the rain may activate the degreaser and that will bleed through the frame coating. Good build tho! Can’t say I’m a fan of the flat bed tho lol.

Is there a reason why you didn't drop the gas tank and get behind there to sand/prep? The finished product looks great but you may have missed some crucial areas and especially inside those support tubes or whatever they are called.
You may want to use a in line filter on the paint gun and of your air hose in the future you can pick them up at any auto parts store that sells auto painting Tours

I have a Husky 30 gal. Air compressor. You can get it at Homedepot. It's a standard stand up and saves space. Go check it out.
i use a 55 gallon kobalt air compressor and it works great for big projects and it’s reasonably priced
it’s 150 max psi but it’s a got a regulator to tune it down

Id keep the box off and spray some undercoating oil on it now so it a actually holds up in the salt. Since it has fresh paint and you went so far to do it

Husky makes an affordable 50gal compressor and it’s not very loud and obnoxious
If you're planning to paint your new truck you should invest in a mobile paint booth you can do any with that mobile paint booth.
