as far as you are going i would HAVE to put a coyote in it!! NA you get more power than the lightning will have even with a aftermarket blower. Put a supercharger on the coyote and a fuel system and ppl have made as m8ch as 1200whp and run 7s on mustang gts and 8s with v8 f150s in the 1/4 mile. with stock sealed coyote. No heads no cams no pistons no rods. Or you just do a reliable 750 to 850whp 9-10 sec 1/4 mile l8ghtning sleeper.

Definitely the "snowball effect"... happens every time I get a "new" used, old car and start doing maintenance work. Something ALWAYS leads to another thing to replace "while your in there and that part is now easier to get to..." it just goes from budget maintenance to $$$ maintenance lol. Also if you ever do decide to sell, it'll be an attractive selling point for the next buyer as they won't have to worry about the rust or even wanting/having to do the rust prevention.

The last vehicle I did a body off restoration and the frame was powder coated. $1,200.00 for the frame all of the cross members, the core support, inner fenders, rear end housing and a whole bunch of miscellaneous brackets. Took it in on Monday picked up on Friday and started on reassembly. What’s your time worth?

I'm about to take my 1990 Ford F-150 4x4 with the 5.0 engine all apart and pretty much do what you're doing. My thing is I either have to find a better bed than what I have or just go ahead and fix the one that's been on the truck the whole time. What I love about my truck is that it can sit for 6 months or even more and almost 99% of the time it starts right up. For some reason the battery is weird. Sometimes it lasts 6 months sometimes 3 months I've had it tested everything's fine I guess it's the weather that affects the performance.
I'm sticking with my 5.0 I have never been let down by it and I'm not trying to build a race truck. I just want what I have to be in better shape. I'm definitely using what you did for the frame. I've been on defense about it and I have even talked to the guys at Eastwood. I'm lucky a few years ago they opened up a new store a mile from my house.
As always I enjoyed your video and I made sure to give it a big old thumbs up. Look forward to the next one.

Bet that paint is just POR 15 by another name. For those of you short timers on the planet, POR 15 was the original metal protector of the 60’s and beyond. Good jobs guys.

Love the video brother, that lightning is going to be clean and powerful, I did this exact thing to my Buick a few years ago and It's definitely satisfying. Keep up the great work and hope to see this project take off, remember you need more space in the shop.

Nice job on the lightning frame guys. It's a great truck. Watching This takes me back to when I owned mine in a younger mans cloths. 01 Silver Frost. I worked in Ford Powertrain in Dearborn Mi, back in the day. Had a built 95 white SVT lightning prior as well. So I was already hooked on Lightnings. In early 2000, I talked to the SVT team about picking up a 2000 Lightning a dealer had on the lot. I was aware of the intercoolers leaking on the 1999.5 -2000 models and wanted to know if the issue was fixed for late 2000 builds. They told me to hold off and order the 01 coming out with more HP, torque and a 3:73 rear axle ratio. I was given the specifics of the changes and that day went to the Ford dealer and put money down to hold an order until the dealer received its number of allocations FOR svt Lightnings. The salesman told me they weren't aware that Ford was going to even continue the Lightning. I smiled and said, I'm betting on it and gave them a $1k deposit. When it was confirmed and the dealer called I went down and went over the order, did the financing and they said they don't know when how long it will be till it gets delivered. I said I'll know. I contacted the Ontario plant manager on inner corporate e-mail and asked if I could come up and watch my truck get built. He said no problem, I'll have a scheduler call you when its going to get assigned a build date. Drove up, a plant supervisor took me to the start of the assembly line and watched the truck get assembled. I followed the frame and not the body. They go off to different areas of the plant during the build. So I watched the frame up assembly and they let me pick out a nice set of wheel that they put to the side until it was time to mount the tires. It was a great experience talking to all the workers along the process. Once it was assembled and ready to go through its system checks they asked if I wanted to be in it when it started. So I got in on the passenger side and that was it. They wouldn't let me drive it off at the end. Liability and not being a plant worker. Had it 4 days later. The plant e-mailed me and told me it was loaded for delivery and said it would be there in a few days. I called the dealer after and told them it's on its way and to call when it gets in. Dealer called me on the day I told them it would be in. I told them not to wash it, not to clean it up on the inside. Leave the plastic on the seats, carpet, all stickers, steering wheel wrap and especially the window sticker on the window. I took it off and laminated it. I sold it years later in Las Vegas when I drove it out to see family and was made an offer I couldn't refuse. Still had the original plastic on the seats. Was going to store it out in Las Vegas and drive it when I flew in to visit my folks. The only sad thing was, I wasn't allowed to bring my camera in the plant. I still have the engineering engine build manuals for the lightning, Cobras, Mach's, Marauder with all the engineering part numbers , engine electrical schematic and vacuum. Lightning 4R100 Trans information given to me by the SVT engineers back in the day. Roush had a nice performance kit that lowered the truck. I Installed JDM upper and lower s/c pully to up the boost, put some Johnny Lightning traction bars on and other parts with Nitto drag radials, custom PCM tune, modified trans valve- body (shift kit). Watson engineering stainless exhaust with KOOKS full length headers and flanged custom straight pipes to take the converter out when going to the Dragway. On the streets, with Nitto's! Stock mustangs, vetts, WS6 firebirds and Camaros didn't come close. Smoked the viper dodge trucks. Only the aerodynamics hurt the truck when racing past the 1/4 mile or if I ran it up to 125mph, was like a billboard pushing air. Then cars would start to gain on me and catch me way past the 1/4. She held her own at 4670 lbs. One hell of a truck, one hell of a ride. Ford's best performance truck to this day. If you find a silver 2001 Lightning with some or all them parts on it in Las Vegas? Buy it!! It was a winner, had a good feel about it from day one and good Karma. Keep restoring them SVT'S!!

Use a vin from any newer production truck and order the bolts for your leaf spring.
Your vin it’s discontinued but newer model truck uses the same hardware. I do it all the time and get the bolts I need
