    Ernst Haas is the photographer, not the homeconing man...

    • @AmazingHistoricalPhotos
      @AmazingHistoricalPhotos  Год назад +5

      Absolutely correct. I caught the error, corrected it to "Ernst Haas photographs a soldier as he returns home to vienna" ... then apparently I've uploaded the draft rather than the changed version .... Doh ! ... Oh well neither the first nor last little error I'll make ... thanks for the correction.

    0:25 the horrors of war yet absolutely nothing has changed today and wars continue unabated and certain people get rich off them while sending someone elses sons and daughters off to die

      They are often an unfortunate reality. Greed and lust for power lead dark hearts to overpower neighbors. The only way to stop them and protect the innocent is often violence. Think of Hitler…

    Love these old photos. Lovely Bertha Benz @8:53 "driving" that new Benz, her dress is perilously close to the drive chain, hands aren't on the wheel. I think this was actually the first model with a "model" in the drivers seat.

    1:23 - Amazing picture. It looks like the incredible heat of the meteorite instantly cauterized the huge wound right after creating it. Absent this my guess is that she likely would have bled out and not survived.

    I seem to recall from a tv programme that Bertha Benz, whilst on her maiden voyage with the car had a limited way of stopping, so she improvised brake pads (don't recall what she used, maybe leather) but she technically invented the brake pads for that car whilst driving it.

    Great pics as always the one of the man sitting at the edge of the Grand Canyon was scarry and Bobby Fisher may have been the greatest chess player ever but in his old age he became a bitter old man not sure why (never mind I checked it out he was kind of loony at the end of his life though)

    • @AmazingHistoricalPhotos
      @AmazingHistoricalPhotos  Год назад +1

      Actually Bobby Fischer will be in tomorrows collection also … He did indeed go completely nuts but the signs were always there. I have a great deal of sympathy for Bobby. I too was a bit of a child chess prodigy myself as a kid …. Winning adult tournaments and multi table exhibitions when I was 9 yrs old … I studied every move of every game of all the grandmasters … Fischer, Karpov & Kasparov were my idols. But it did start to effect my noodle too so I quit at 13 to concentrate on football. Long story short I would’ve reached masters levels relatively young but he was on a different level so I can’t imagine how warped that mind was to play as creatively as he did.

      Officially it was a "gift" but in reality it was payment for national debts owed. Britain, France and other countries also received similar obelisks and artifacts for the same reason.
