The photos related to war and great depression are always so heart-breaking. And most of these old photos seem surreal... You really do a good job, thank you and have a nice day 🏵
One of my favorite pictures that I found for this collection. Studley was a carpenter, mason and even a piano maker. Such an artisan. The absolute precision and neatness of this toolbox really appealed to my OCD !!!
I saw it and thought I eat 3 eggs at a meal, there was only 1, and could I live off those rations? No. To be able to work? No. Really all that food on the table, 3 days max.
@@jennacornwall5243 Totally agree … Roman History is my specialty and you wouldn’t believe how little the average Roman ate … Cicero would have a few figs and olives for lunch and maybe a piece of bread and cheese for dinner … He usually had a glass of water for breakfast 🤯 .. times have changed !
Simply breathtaking! You're right about modern 'Swiss cheese' roads🤣the Romans didn't have cars and trucks but that road was 2000yrs old! I couldn't really concentrate after seeing the chopper bike, I'm in my 50s and I still want one. The backing music for the first half sounded like 'rise of the machines' which really complimented the photographs imo. Brilliant as always, thanks👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for being a regular viewer. The roman roads didn't have cars but they did have carts, which were often extremely heavy and could be equally destructive. If you go to Pompeii you can still see the massive grooves cut in the streets by the carts... quite amazing. Glad you like the music. Rise of the Machines is my latest composition. I only write that a couple of weeks ago and just released it. You can stream it on apple music, spotify etc. As always links can be found at www.markbulmer.com. Thank you for your comments.
I'm inheriting a piano in a week, playedbriefly when I was a kid but still remember old Macdonald and do play the bass so cant wait to get into it and try and emulate you :-) awesome vid as always Mark :-) quality channel
That's awesome! I love to hear people getting back to piano. I taught myself when I was 20, never had a lesson and just compose by ear. Forget the scales and technicals. Get that lovely piano tuned and then just close your eyes and see where your fingers go. Music comes from the heart not the fingers .... good luck
truly amazing. i cant get over how game those construction workers were back in the 1930`s when they balanced on just a plank of wood with a massive drop below them
I get a nosebleed if I stand on my couch ... These always make me squirm. I worked on the 46th floor of a building in Manhattan overlooking central park for a few years and that was manageable because I was indoors and the windows gave my comfort. But, if we went on the balcony you could just feel the crisp wind that high up... I don't know how they do this !!
@@AmazingHistoricalPhotosI have a photo of my dad rough necking for Gulf Oil in Texas where his father worked in the late 40s or early 50s. He must've been working there in his high school or college years during the summer
They are not fake … but some are staged .. I.e. the famous one with the workers having lunch on the NY high rise beam was a publicity photo … I have posted a photo of the famous photographer while he was taking it.

The Studley Toolbox showing something practical being made so well that it becomes a thing of beauty itself.

That rations pic though. Brutal.
I can't even imagine.

Before OSHA.
The “Nope” clips are terrifying. Am amazed they weren’t blown off as winds so strong high up.
Enjoyed that
Something about those old Halloween pics just gives me the creeps, and Mark keeps coming up with different ones!
I have a dark comical side ... lol
I can see people everywhere saying “ that’s not a proper chopper “ and they would be right.
First! So happy 😊 Thank you.
That kid sure looked startled to see Andre the giant then I'm sure we all would if we ever saw him in the flesh knowing what size he wss
He was a very big man and apparently the most legendary drinker to ever live … lol
3:28. Surely that should be about a day’s ration!!
That's pretty much my breakfast every day....lol
@@AmazingHistoricalPhotos 😅😅
Not all food was rationed.
@@AnitaDilNot fresh veg, fruit and bread.
It's very odd seeing a roughneck wearing a fedora. Great photos as aways!
I found a great collection on these Texas rig roughnecks … I’ll post some more over time … thank you for being a regular viewer 👍🏻

i wasn't sure at first which one was Alfred.
😂😂
4:44 the kid’s reaction would be mine if I meet Marie Temara.
X-ray - the cure was worse.
3 26 UK not just England
Indeed, and it was more than just the UK who had rations … The photo itself was taken in England, which is what the caption states.
@@AmazingHistoricalPhotos Why was the UK still rationing 6 years after the war ended?
Alice Eastwood…Clint’s grandmother?
No, they were unrelated.
The skyscraper pictures always look fake, I believe most are.
