@@liljdub08 NOOO. Not likely since it just got ACE roller coaster landmark status. in fact SFOG is giving it a full renovation. So it’s getting most of it’s structure replaced, a full retracking, and new paint and trains. I would hate to see this classic go anyway (It was my first roller coaster actually).
Ah, nostalgia, I do wish that more roller coasters would be made like. I love the sound of the track creaking as if to warn me that it’s gonna break😂

Dude, this thing will have ya trippin if someone is the skiddushhh type that worry's about mechanical failure with everything else. In the 80s It felt like it was coming off the tracks and every clack or clunk would have you asking is that normal 😬lol
Everything I love, everything I’m passionate about regarding roller coasters is summarized and captured in this ride. Was worth the six hour trip from central FL just for it. This is a masterpiece. Not every rider is happy with its lack of smoothness, but that’s why they have Goliath and much else. John Allen and William Cobb

Same. Just took a trip from Deltona. But I have to say I didn't really enjoy the ride all that much. Too much violent jackhammering in the valleys honestly. But it's still a classic.
This ride is like your old uncle that tries to be cool, and he succeeded for a while but then it all just went downhill

This thing jacked me up so badly when I rode it, might as well have thrown me off a building
DO NOT and I mean DO NOT ride this towards the back. I dunno what it is, but I was scared to death I was going to be paralyzed by the force of the suplexes this thing was dishing out. Every hill scared me because I knew when we got to the bottom I might end up like superman. Last time I rode it I swore I'd never get back on, but that fresh coat of paint tricked me... Not going to lie... everyone was starring at me when we stopped because I dropped a huge F bomb in protest of just how much the ride hurt. The fact that they haven't been sued is a miracle.
My friend is 6"2. The Giant exposed bolt heads on the backs of the seat left a silver dollar bruise on his leg that was already visible before we left the park and had him limping all day. 2 weeks later it was bigger than a softball...
Same LMAO, the dude in front of me yelled out halfway through the ride: "Ima need a chiropractor"

They seriously need to give this coaster some love. Retracking, work on the support structure, new trains, etc. It's such a classic and always been one of my favorites. When I was a kid it was so smooth, but ever since the flood of 09 it's been getting more rough every year. It would be a damn shame if they ever tore down this classic.

It’s getting a full renovation. SFOG confirmed it, so new tracks, new trains, and most of it’s structure is getting replaced.

I first rode this coaster back in 1976 and did so almost every year until I was 40. It's a classic coaster but bring aspirin for the headache you're sure to have afterwards. Lots of it...

This ride honestly felt like a accident waiting to happen. The restraint system doesn't feel very safe and you almost feel like you're going to bounce out of your seat.
And that's exactly why it's AWESOME

Thank you for this one. I haven't been to six flags over Georgia since the Mind Bender first opened In either 1980 or '81 which was my very first non wooden, all metal coaster when I was like 10 11 years old, and let me tell you it was a Mind Bender. I mean WOW!!!
This, however; was not my very first thrill ride when I was 6 years old. We visited the park in 1976, and at the time my Dad was the only coaster enthusiast in the family and he said "hey girl you want to ride this thing with your Pa? " It looked so ginormous to me in those days and I'll admit I was afraid. But like I was 6.
And since I was a tall skinny kid I cleared the height bar by maybe 1 in then climbed in the front seat which he insisted on. I knew nothing about Buzz bars in those days or anything about the mechanics of a roller coaster and since I was so skinny I was afraid that the lap bar and the seat belt wasn't going to be enough to hold me in my seat. But Dad said "don't worry you're going to get to experience what we call airtime." The first circuit terrified me and I did scream, a LOT, but by the time that it was over the right operator said we could climb in the second seat and go again because I wanted to. It was like love at first sight. 😀
That was the point when I couldn't get enough of the Great American scream machine and although I did not marathon it like I have the Mind Bender in the past had I gotten the chance I'm sure I would have tried.
Your videos just starting so I haven't seen if it's held up through time but I hope so.

Great American Pain Machine
You know this may be unpopular but I can’t stand this ride. Everybody always complains about how bumpy ninja/blue hawk is/was but I’ve always thought this was way worse, ESPECIALLY the very end where you’re literally coming to an instant dead stop from 45 miles per hour and your whole body just tried to fly forward. I even got a bruise from the lap bar once from this. I know it’s been around a while but I’ll never understand this ride personally.
Fuck Ninja, that ride has nothing going for it. At least this is a classic rollercoaster that you know what you’re getting from it. Ninja, a newer coaster, has no reason to be as rough as it is
@@wille3573 i don’t know if you know this or not, but the ninja isn’t open anymore!! what was previously known as the ninja was retracked, repainted, and renamed to the blue hawk several years ago, and there was a change of restraints to prevent head banging. every time i’ve gone on it it’s been smoother than the batman lol
@@wille3573 Ninja is totally smooth now. It got reworked and renamed. New trains and adjustments. It's Blue Hawk now.
They gave this ride some major track work this off-season, and I’ve heard that it’s running smoother than ever
I rode it for the first time today and it wasnt nearly as rough as i was expecting, just a bit shakey. Break run is still absurdly fast but still fun

Looks like a scream machine, but not the good kind. It looks like a scream machine of pain rather than thrills.
My comments after i got off. Dropped a giant F bomb when the ride stopped because it was so rough the whole way through. I was ready for the stop so no biggie, but I was scared I was gonna get paralyzed by the suplexes this thing was dropping on me. I rolled a car 8 times. It felt very similar. Even trying to pin myself up out of my seat to the back of the backrest was useless. It slammed so hard it was still slamming my spine out my anus. Don't ride this and really don't ride near the back.
RIDING THIS BACKWARDS AT NIGHT THOUGH!!!!!! It easily made this one of the best coasters in the park
AmiraIsHated you can ride it backwards? When I rode it, it was like 11:00 at night
They turn the trains backwards and run them that way on special occasions. I rode it back in the 90's like that for the 20th anniversary season. It was very different not being able to see what was coming next but was a fun ride!
This used to be my baby, but man has it gotten bad. And the last straw was them putting the horrible cyclone trains on it. RIP Gasm

When this coaster hits 50, I think Six Flags should tack "Ole Reliable" on to the name so it is the Ole Reliable Great American Scream Machine. ORGASM for short.
If it's not scrapped very soon someone is going to lawyer up. It's criminally neglected. I didn't even notice most of the ride because I was petrified I was going to be paralyzed from the impacts at the bottom of each hill. The carts near the back bounce so violently at the bottom of the hills it knock the wind out of you. I started bracing myself off of the seat and the impacts were so hard my strength was useless. Honestly. It scared me so bad due to the pain and risk of injury.
Will be going here for the first time next year. I do love a classic wooden coaster. Glad to hear there's air! A lot of these old woodies look so wonderful, but lack air. Glad this isnt the case.

this is an incredible roller coaster. sure its rough, but that gives it its personality. you either love it or you hate it, and i love it.
Just got on this yesterday, yes its a classic but it needs to be retracked it was the worst experience I've ever had.

I worked on this ride back in the summer of 1993. The brake system is different now, but everything else looks the same.
Used to have to climb to the top of the hill if we saw someone taking off their seatbelt after it exited the station. That was a long hike!
On this ride I got dragged, slammed, sprayed with disgusting wood smell, and beat up at the end brakes. And I still love it 😂

Doesn't look like much from the video BUT I rode this thing back in the 80s and it feels like it's coming apart the whole time is the scary thing.

I've been on that ride more times than I can count. I remember when it opened. The waiting times to ride were more than 2 hours long and it got to the point where guests were given a card of what time to come back & ride it so they wouldn't have to wait in long lines. Even then, it was still a long wait when you'd go back at your scheduled time. It was a fun coaster.
Aww. I remember when six flags in NJ use to have this. You had the red, white and blue roller coasters back then. Great memories. Awesome ride. The one in NJ went upside down too.
They made Scream Machine a heck of a lot worse by adding the Georgia Cyclone trains on it. The buzz bars were kinda nice with the old trains. Tips for ridding this thing, if you are going to tide Scream Machine, ride it in the front row because the other ones are not good to ride in. I tried something stupid one time and rode it in the back row, and my back was hurting for the rest of the day. The front row is tolerable, so that is my suggestion.
Spread this. I'm scared someone is actually going to get hurt on this ride. I rode 3rd from the back. I can't imagine the last cart is worse. I would have died for sure.
Wonderful memories of this coaster !!! But, have you ever had the pleasure of riding it BACKWARDS ? Now, THAT is AWESOME !!! DK if they'll ever offer that again, but, when they had the carts on there BACKWARDS, I just HAD to ride it at least seven or eight times in a ROW !!! !
the few times I rode the Scream Machine, it just felt very rough and unstable. I prefer Mind Bender even with its whiplashy brake section - and I prefer Ninja/Blue Hawk because when you lean back and not constantly bang your head on the seat, that coaster can run pretty smooth.

This was the second roller coaster I ever road. Legitimately thought I was gonna fly off just about ruined the chances of me going on extreme rides like that. I fr thought it was over after the first drop, but then we got to the bunny hills. Thought my whole spine was on the verge of popping out my back

It's a great coaster. It's even more fun when they run it backwards. Not sure if they do that anymore but when I was growing up, they did it a lot.

I just rode this yesterday for the first time since the late nineties and OUCH...the whiplash. In a lot of pain today.
I’ve ridden many rollercoasters throughout my lifetime. However, this is the one ride that I felt extremely unsafe on. Maybe it’s because I’m short, however, there were several times that I came close to flying out of the car. Half of my body kept coming out of the car for the entire ride. It was definitely a scary experience.

I love this ride i remember when I first went to six flags over ga in 2013 or 2014 (cant remember) me and my mom rode this so many times no matter how bummby it is it never gets old but i do think in the future they should re do the ride with a few loops some twist and turns new name like "great american loop machine" and thats really it OH and they should make it steel

Never again! The most painful ride I've ever been on. I felt used and abused after getting off. I was screaming "whip lash!" the whole time and I was cramped in my seat 😖😣😩😂
Try the wooden one at Six Flags in Arlington. It whips you side to side. This is gentle compared to that.
I remember crying as a kid when I first rode this because it was big and fast and terrifying. Now I cry as an adult when I ride it because I know that before it is done with me, it is going to hurt me. LOLOL! I really hope they retrack it for it's 50th. It is still passably fun in the front. The back is almost unrideable due to being so rough. And I really want to enjoy the back because it is a wild run with some crazy old woodie airtime.

I've ridden this many times as I live a few hours away. Fun ride but the instant stop at the end makes you almost fly out of the ride.

I rode that roller coaster 20 years ago. Even then the final break run was brutal, and if it lasts another 20 I'm assuming it will be the same.
It's worse now. Or maybe I've just gotten older and I can't take the head trauma anymore...

I love this ride!!
I rode this ride. It was very bumpy but I put my head to the side and held on tight so I would not bang my head very hard. My head was not doing well after I got off but I am glad I rode it since it is a beautiful wooden roller coaster after all! I do wish for the tracks to have a improvement but it is a historic ride so I do wish my best luck for the ride to do better.

On my 2021 ride it didn’t feel as rough as many people say it is, maybe because of the new trains? But people make it sound like my 2021 ride on Swamp Fox, that ride was rough as absolute hell.
If anyone wants to know why they aren’t going to remake the coaster or make it not shake as much is because that that coaster was like one of the first coasters at six flags in like the 50s

Wish they would let Gravity Group redo this one. I enjoyed it with buzz bars and before it beat you to death...not surprised it is always a walk on.

I wish it still had the old skid brakes because the stop wouldn’t be so jarring and the buzz bars so the airtime would be better.
