Aloha, the sauce can be thickened by either (saute mode until the sauce thickens down) or (saute mode- bring sauce to a boil, mix well 2 tbs corn starch: 1 tbs of water.) Remove star anise prior to thickening. Garnish with chopped green onions and of course "macaroni salad" . Cheehee .... ALOHA 808

Dis isn’t ‘da Shoyu Chix I remember Auntie used to make for us! No vinegar?? No catsup or tomato paste? What’s up wit the da anise star spice??
      Nawww dis isn’t “Island Style!”
This is some kinda hybrid mainland Chinese-style soy sauce chicken!
I’m pāke transplant from Islamds to California. This is more similar to Pāke-Style here on the mainland.

Nice recipe.....but don't use metal utensils in the pot......use plastic or wood to avoid scratching the pot.

My man....great tutorial! But next time, LEAVE THOSE DELICIOUS CHICKEN JUICES IN THERE. You took out your real chicken juices just to add boxed broth and I lost it.
Mansplain over! Again ty, I'll be using these instructions many times over!!
