The hair pull incident. Mike says "I didn't want to send him to the screen he'd had an action packed 5 minutes and he's a mate" I mean wow!! just wow, so refs are letting things go because their mate was having a bad day, absolutely disgraceful......

I agree, however, playing devil's advocate. What about Collina? Regarded by many as the best referee of all time, yet he definitely didn't go unnoticed
If your brandishing red cards or giving injury time penalties how do you go unnoticed? When you get through a game unnoticed i think it more to do with luck rather than your competence as a referee. Get it right, it wasn’t even a penalty call, it was a foul and potentially a red card… cause it happened in the Chelsea’s player on box. So it was just a basic VAR call.

I think for Mike Dean with this one interview has harmed referees in English football more than any incorrect VAR call has. We now know that referees are making personal decisions based on loyalty to their friends to not go over and use the technology that was brought in to make them make decisions easier. If they have this kind of bias, who's to say they don't have a bias in team they want to win a particular game. Its nothing short of a disgrace. The bit about being on VAR but not getting games because he's useless and people with the organisation saying "what's the problem you're getting paid." It's just jobs for the boys, one massive old boys club. How Jon Moss is still there I dont know either.
The hair pull decision making process - blimey. Yes, he admits now it was a horrendous decision but his reasoning for not sending the ref over was eye opening. Those thoughts shouldn't even enter a VAR's head when making those decisions.
I would rather have the flow of the game disrupted than have a team lose which can lead to a lot of people losing their jobs because of relegation because I couldn't wait 15 secs to celebrate
Making mistakes I can accept. Everyone makes mistakes in life and their jobs are really high pressured. But Mike admitting to making the active decision to not ask a referee to go to the screen to see an obvious foul all because he was a "mate" and he felt he already had a tough match for me is as good as being corrupt.
Question for you. What is the definition of “passing the ball” ? Because the final video image of the players positions is only the end of a process that begins with “the pass”. What measurement of that is there ? It’s like a 100 metre athletic race. The runnners can start when they like but the winner is the first across the line. The timing of the pass is ignored and only the final positions of the players is highlighted. Officials at the game very often see and hear the contact on the ball. What measurement is used for VAR ?
I wonder if he would be prepared to apologise to Chelsea Football Club, Tuchel and Cucurella. That was a water-shed moment which resulted in Tuchel leaving and all sorts of consequences for all concerned.
On Mourinho: the decisions against Roma in the final were absolutely baffling. The behaviour of Romans after the final may not have been good, but considering the team were treated wrongly over and over again during the season. The final of the Europa league was the cherry on top. A handball at 1-1 around the 80th minute not given. Speaking about Mourinho’s gameplan saying he messed it up conceding a 1-1 is not what refs should speak about. They need to step up in certain moments to make the game fair. That’s what we need, because as Mister Dean says himself, Mourinho shakes everybody’s hands after any game he had with him. Just do your job and all is well
The knock on effect of his corrupt decision to not send Taylor to the monitor is terrible, that was a massive pivotal moment for Chelsea and tuchel. Tuchel ends up losing his job , chelsea having had a excellent performance against spurs and deserved to win are denied a win, tuchel loses his job and Chelsea end up with porter and en up the season in 12th

The sickening confirmation of the lack of character; lack of will; and, worst; LACK OF PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY behind so many VAR non-decisions... The confession I would most like to hear is from the VAR officials at the Everton V Liverpool game from 3 years ago when Pickford committed GBH on Virgil Van Dijk, doing a wrestling body-slam with his whole bodyweight on the guy's upper thigh, smashing his knee. No review for dangerous play despite scream accompanied by un-natural body-movement indicating serious injury as that would have meant sending off England's goal-keeper.
It should be a criminal offence to treating, abuse intimidate any person, as is the same for the public....REFS should grow some and get police involvement when they are subjected to this kind of behaviour
Nothing new under the Sun. I could go on and on about these Refs, with valid points and facts too; but any chance you create as a Team, you better take it !! Put away your chances as early as possible. Do not play with your Food. Simon, great Channel. South London !!
Mike Dean was on VAR duty when Chelsea were playing against Spurs, when Cucurella had is hair pulled back. MD apparently looked at it with slow mo monitor & didn’t see anything. How can you miss something like that.
If a player misses enough open goals and plays poorly for a extended period of time he gets sold. He doesn’t play at the highest level anymore. Refs on the other hand, protected no matter what!
It's simple. The referee makes mistakes, but he's never wrong!! Even with all the technology, errors of judgement occur but the only opinion that ever matters is that of the referee. Players playing a bad pass, missing an easy goal, miss-controling the ball, and straying offside too often are all mistakes that players make but, often, their teammates don'ty vilify the player but often encourage them with better luck next time. Who'd be a ref? I am and I love it and without us there would not be any football.
The players all have a go at refs when they make mistakes (in their opinion) but tend to ignore the fact that a game is 90 minutes long and the players make zillions of mistakes during that time. Perhaps it is now time for the refs to tell the players what they think of them. "That was a crap pass", "My 90-year old granny could shoot better than that". Dean was a crap referee and now he has admitted to being a biased one. What a piece of work.
Too many pundits on tv advocate cheating to have them in the VAR room. i.e. "Yes, the defender should bring Salah down there, because Liverpool have a break on." This is advocating, condoning and allowing cheating.
On reflection, Mike Dean has owned up to a poor var call and told it as it was. Would people prefer to live in ignorance debating that missed decisions were just poor eyesight? Now that it's out in the open, we all know better and should add the right pressure on var officials to make a decision. Simon got Mike Dean to finally reveal what most people thought anyway so was a good interview.

Can't stand these refs who go into the media, they had nothing to say when they were officiating but when they stop you can't stop them. Admitting to being crap at VAR is just confirming what we all know.
Look we're all human so we should acknowledge the emotions that we all feel in difficult situations, whatever that may be. And he admitted he couldn't do the job because he essentially couldn't control his emotions, so he's agreeing with people calling him out. BUT, the gravity of the situation is undoubtedly enormous and the set up regarding how refs are trained is clearly not good enough when something like this can happen.

finally someone gets it. The man is a bit of charlatan, massive brown nose too judging by the way he keeps everything close to his chest. I wouldn't say he 'winged' it, but most definitely a 'yes man'.
What another fantastic interview, cheers!!

One question, how long until VAR gets to the stage where Referees are no longer required on the pitch? A great watch as always for Up Front! Well done Mr Jordan.
The Mike Dean Show.
Yep. The man is a drama narcissistic drama Queen, delighted he’s out of the game
@@MW92. No one shouldn't run Jordanite Podcast Show

Hearing some of the things Mike Dean said in this was actually very alarming. Not good.
Bit like most his decisions then. Not good
The bit about being on VAR but not getting games because he's useless and people with the organisation saying "what's the problem you're getting paid." It's just jobs for the boys, one massive old boys club. How Jon Moss is still there I dont know either.
The hair pull decision making process - blimey. Yes, he admits now it was a horrendous decision but his reasoning for not sending the ref over was eye opening. Those thoughts shouldn't even enter a VAR's head when making those decisions.
@@Sam-rf1cz Bang on, "the ref has had a tough game so I didnt want to send him to the monitor." My god.
Mike was comedy gold but that probably shouldn’t be a referee’s best attribute
Great interview. This and the Troy Deeney one in particular
VAR killed the flow of the game rip football
Bet you don't complain when VAR intervenes and saves your team...
@@callumatkinson4402 have not watched a game since sir alex left the bar is so low thank god i was around for the golden era 1990 - 2012
@@felenti4956 that says it all really 😂😂😂
@@callumatkinson4402where talking about the flow of the game,I guess you like to wait about 50 seconds after a goal is scored before celebrating
I would rather have the flow of the game disrupted than have a team lose which can lead to a lot of people losing their jobs because of relegation because I couldn't wait 15 secs to celebrate
Making mistakes I can accept. Everyone makes mistakes in life and their jobs are really high pressured. But Mike admitting to making the active decision to not ask a referee to go to the screen to see an obvious foul all because he was a "mate" and he felt he already had a tough match for me is as good as being corrupt.
great interview , best yet
Just do your job and all is well
No they weren’t it wasn’t a penalty so get over it
Here the lies the problem with football. Clueless opinions like yours!
Danny Murphy hit the nail on the head !!! Aka jasper carrot 🥕!!!
Thought Mike was one of the most honest
Pure corruption. Bet companies should look into this. The fact this type of actions affect so many people who bet or teams that end up losing millions of dollars because of this type of refs is beyond me.
Did Simon mention yet that he used to own palace of talk about Andy Johnson
He used to be a footballer too!
Keep your hands stil Mike Dean!!!

Mike Dean, Mike Dean the chicken killing machine. Great chat.
They did this for years for Fergie...Clattenburg came out and said they were all scared of Fergie so they gave him favorable calls...it brings into question all those trophies UTD "won" with currupt referees.
Respectfully, Mike Dean was not a good official.
Great interview.
Mike dean said that Mac allister challenge was a red card
It was a red card, late, studs first, dangerous - Rules says that's a Red
What a load of bollocks
@@BVking509😂😂😂 rubbish hahha
@@BVking509Such a red it was rescinded completely very quickly. Take off your agenda glasses.
@@MrLewbaah It's not a true or false argument, it's a matter of fact and how the rules read. But we all know there is special rules for LiVARpool with convenient penalties being given for dives like last weekend and SpaceBalls Nunez at Fulham, let's not forget the Jota Headkick or the shadows offside rule
He keeps saying he made a “mistake” or “missed” the hair pull incident then goes on to admit he saw the incident, knew it was an issue but chose to ignore it
The sickening confirmation of the lack of character; lack of will; and, worst; LACK OF PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY behind so many VAR non-decisions...
Guys Mike Dean things he is the Ronaldo of Refereering...I was waiting for him to say..."I deserve it...and I think I will love it"
It should be a criminal offence to treating, abuse intimidate any person, as is the same for the public....REFS should grow some and get police involvement when they are subjected to this kind of behaviour
Nothing new under the Sun.
I could go on and on about these Refs, with valid points and facts too; but any chance you create as a Team, you better take it !! Put away your chances as early as possible. Do not play with your Food. Simon, great Channel. South London !!
"Assist - Mike Dean!"
Brilliant interview
It’s Mike Dein’s world and we’re just living in it…
He’s an arse
@@GaryFreeman-o5w you live in a fantasy! Players get hammered in the changing room and on socials by the entire world. Give it a rest
I enjoyed this interview. Mike Dean was honest and it was interesting to see it from a rev’s point of view.

Made me laugh when he mocked Dermott
Amazing how most of these huge errors benefit a small selection of teams......
Always have mate ,
We could name 3 of them in 5 seconds
Bear in mind that at most premiership games only about eight people in the stadium actually know the Laws of the Game comprehensively.
From killing millions of chickens to killing the love of the game for millions! 😅
"Politicians are saying speak properly to one another, but in the real world, that doesn't work" - is he having an aneurysm?
Just hear for the comments about how everyone's team is amazing and would win the league comfortably if it was not for the officials.
It's all about Mike
Rumour was Mike Dean almost beat Hugh Jackman for the lead role in the Greatest Showman movie.
He did not miss it, he watched the reply and chose to ignore it, scandalous behaviour.
So you think it's OK to admit to cheating? Unreal, tuchel lost his job shortly after that game, he didn't,
@@PaulFarrell-v7w So many poor eyesight decisions that the ref has obviously seen but pretends he hasn't. Dean should have retrospective punishment. Perhaps you think we are better off not knowing the truth?
Simon is forever backing and defending refs and var. amazes me!
With everything else he says “do your job properly its what you get paid for”
Well the refs in the prem are shocking!! And car is used All wrong!!!!!
Rugby, tennis and cricket all use var to HELP ref the game but the prem dont, they use it to look to see if the ref made a clear and obvious error 😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️
They have stated loads of time var is not here to help ref the game 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤢🤢🤢
Pathetic and it makes everyone think something dodgy is happening.
Untill the refs are miced and untill we can all hear the reasons behind the outrageous decisions everyweek the game will continue to be a mess
What was Mike looking at the whole interview?
Can't stand these refs who go into the media, they had nothing to say when they were officiating but when they stop you can't stop them. Admitting to being crap at VAR is just confirming what we all know.
Can we give Anthony Taylor some credit for immediately reprimanding this entitled fool
Sums up the state of refereeing in the premier league
I never really disliked him, I liked the fact that he was a bit of a personality.
He’s dropped some big names in it there. 😳
This was a great interview. Mike came across as open and honest and I appreciated his insight and perspectives.
Behaviour towards referees is getting worse, but so are the referees. From Wolves at Old Trafford onwards, this season they are already a mess.
If the refs did there jobs properly and not favour certain teams then behaviour towards them might be different
Mike dean the best of the best 😂
Great interview but I have to say it never fails to amaze me how after games refs weren’t allowed to come out and explain their decisions has soon as they retire you can’t keep them off TV Mike himself turns up on soccer Saturday Peter Walton when it was BT SPORT not sure if he is still on there now it’s TNT,numerous other now turning up at the opening of an envelope.
