    I think he'll most likely make an M-ii, which is ESP's superstrat, with some new rendition of the fixed Floyd bridge. I remember back when he started playing Jackson prototypes, a lot of people were super excited about the cool v's he was playing, but those ended up being custom one-offs and his actual signature models were stripped down versions of the Soloist with the fixed Floyd.

      I sometimes wonder if the reason why we never got the V’s was because he wasn’t happy with the Soloist so he decided to let his contract with Jackson to run out.

    personally, i love his signature of the locked down floyd bridge and nut. i like a fixed bridge, but being able to lock a tuning down and fine tune it, i love that so much. By far my favorite bridge design. it is also why i like the kahler bridge, because it can also be locked down, and doesnt take out as much wood as a typical floyd

    I still have the pro series version of Mick’s signature Jackson Soloist, and I love that guitar. I’m still a little bit shocked he’s not with the, anymore. But I can’t wait to see what his ESP guitar is like. I know he’s working on a signature model with them.
    I like the fixed-Floyd bridge that was developed for his signature Jackson. He had a similar bridge when he was with Ibanez, which I haven’t tried but it looks badass. I have a feeling he’ll just use a standard hard tail bridge with ESP, that’s what’s on his test guitars now. But who knows, I can’t wait to see.

    5:45 i got this guitar recently and am super in love with it, no bridge screws digging into my palm when playing like some guitars i've had, fine tuners are a godsend and the locking nut tuning stability is amazing, i've always wondered why companies DON'T put locking nuts on every guitar tbh, i basically have nothing but good things to say, and the lack of a tone knob is also just perfect it sounds great compared to all my other guitars and honestly i love the minimalist look of it. also the input jack position is also genius, that guitar has so many features i wish more companies would implement.

    The green guitar from the early days was his custom Jackson. He had that before slipknot.

  • @mathias6423
    @mathias6423 11 месяцев назад +1

    Yeah not sure if that is a green guitar, could be that ESP/LTD "Greyish smokey" kind of veneer they have on some models, kind of the same veneer that is on the PRS SE Mark Holcomb signature guitar if you know what I mean. However I hope they are coming out with the Mick Thomson signature guitars soon, I am really looking forward to seeing them and perhaps buying one.
    As with your question, I get the whole Floyd Rose bridge thing and that he is using it for the tuning part, I get that. I just wish his signature guitars came with the option to add a whammy bar for those who would like that.
    I guess on a cheaper LTD guitar they are going to put a Floyd Rose Special there anyways so swapping it out for a Schaller Lockmeister or a Floyd Rose Original 1000 would not be an issue for those like me who would want the tremolo arm and as a bonus you get a much more stable tremolo with an upgrade.
    I have had single cuts before like the Gibson Les Paul Studio and Custom. For me those guitars was kind of heavy when standing up playing and the neck often too thick and wide.
    For me PRS "Wide Thin" neck is about the thickest and widest I would go for and the Ibanez Wizard I and II are a bit too thin, so the Wizard III neck I think is perfect.
    In general ESP/LTD's are quite thin but more of a Jackson thin than an Ibanez thin, So I guess they will be kind of perfect for my taste. I am looking forward to these guitars for sure.
    I have never been a fan of the LTD eclipse Gibon les paul guitar. However once had a LTD that i sold. Nothing special at first glance, cost me back then 12 years ago about 700$/€ brand new with neck through, active EMG and a nice bridge, as you understand by now this was way back when you actually got a lot for your money on a esp/LTD guitar. Was one of the better guitars I have owned and regret selling it. I have been looking for it several years but can not even remember what the model was called

    I think he'll do both tiers. He did it with Ibanez and Jackson. And with Ibanez he started with the RG and released a Glaive (I think that's the shape name) too. I like the fixed Floyd. It's the best of both worlds. The locking nuts with fine tuners. I think he'll start with the Mirage and expand from there.
    As for him moving on, it's always due to drop in quality from the brands he's got sigs for.

    • @pistonhedd
      @pistonhedd 10 месяцев назад

      The Glaive model didn't sell well apparently, so ended up mostly using RG's again and then along came the MTM20 in white w/ 'seven' inlays - his last sig release until he left.

    I've always liked the bolted down floyd style bridge and am surprised it hasn't become a more common thing, and I'll be a little disappointed if Mick's ESP and LTD models don't have it. I've always gotten insane tuning stability out of my floyd equipped guitars when the ability to float is blocked, stabilizing the bridge in place, and locking the nut and using the fine tuners on the bridge. Even better tuning stability than my hard tail and tom bridge guitars. I've never used an Evertune, but the tuning stability that's described on evertunes is what I've experienced with a blocked floyd, and I've always assumed that's why Mick did that with his Ibanez and Jackson guitars.

    • @brayanlopes5222

      Agreed same here. I hate it when Floyd fan boys complain about the bridge. To me the maintenance of a Floyd ain't worth it. I prefer a traditional hard tail or evertune bridge. But his bridge is definitely awesome. My favorite bridge other than the evertune

    If a anything, since ESP Japan and ESP USA are strictly custom shops, if there are 2 tiers of signatires then one is going to be an E-II at around 3000$ and the other an LTD at 1000$. E-II (Made in the same factory in Tokyo as the custom ESPs are not any less good than any high end guitar, they are cheaper since they are standarized).

  • @kostasseth9150

    Probably Mick signature with ESP would be a Horizon or M type.. but I think that maybe ESP will do what they’ve done with Kirk Hammett’s sigs or Hetfield’s sigs or what Gibson did with Mustaine’s sigs.. Not only one shape with his signature but two or three.. and btw it will be strange if we see a Mick Thomson sig and not be a superstrat style guitar but man, the Eclipse looks amazing with him! 😉

    I'm with you. When Jim Root and Fender released his sigs way back when, I was (and still am) stoked on them cuz they traditional looking guitars for heavier styles of music. Mick's prior sigs were always geared towards heavier music, but I was never a big fan of the locked down floyd (or floyds in general). Now that he's with ESP, the prospect of a single cut is pretty enticing to think of.

It's a feel thing, I really like the feel of a floyd rose bridge for palm mutes, I played a floyd equipped guitar all through high school and that guitar is still probably the best feeling guitar I have ever played (Joe Satriani signature thay unfortunately was stolen). But if you like the feel of a floyd but you need the stability of a fixed bridge what are ya gonna do? Direct mount thay baby solid that's what you do. A single cut would be dope though.

    I say why not both a Horizon based model and an Eclipse (single cut model). They done that for other artists.
    I'm thinking he might drop the whole Flyod that's actually a fixed bridge thing for a more traditional fixed bridge thow. He used that bridge for so long because it was what he was used to as he started off with a guitar that had a normal flyod, and he just wanted that feeling. After playing those ESP guitars with modern set-ups, he might very well now feel like using a more practical fixed bridge.

    His Import Jackson's were pretty solid last time I got to check one out and were reasonably priced for us who can't or don't want to spend the cash for the USA versions. His Custom Jackson's were already sick and it seemed to fit him well. Seems like he's repeating the same story since BC Rich, Ibanez, Jackson and now ESP as how he finally wanted to work with "x'" brand and how he feels at home.. Whatever he designs it won't be any different than what Jackson could've done for him except maybe a fancy color or body top.. But hey what ever works for him. If you already own one of his Jackson Soloist's keep it, there's nothing wrong with it.

      @@Callum-Morrison you never know man. I guess we will have to see what he decides. Maybe ESP and Mick will do a signature line like Jim Root and Fender have done.

    Mick has a floyd, but he shims it so it stays locked because he doesn't use it. It's a shame to see him leave jackson, but ESP does suit him.

    I wasn't a fan of the faux floyd bridge. All of the hassle, and none of the fun.

      Yeah, and a thing with Floyd roses is they kill your sustain and you basically get no sustain and also no trem, it’s basically a worse hard tail

      @@JokerCat9 I don’t think so but Slipknot doesn’t use sustain a whole lot and if he does use it he could always use a pedal

      The fixed Floyd is as simple to use as any hardtail there's no float to worry about and I havent noticed any less sustain but that's just me cause I love his Jackson soloist to death.

    I kinda hope he does his own shape. Making the same guitar at Ibanez...then Jackson...and now ESP? Lol 🤷‍♂️ I wonder if he'll explain why he left Jackson? Mainly money, or more. Him and Mark Morton have been really quiet about it.
