All that experience you have has really paid off in this video, 37 Years-48 Years-68 Years 😂 We are loving your channel you really keep it entertaining. My son was home for Christmas I have got him watching you and LMAO 😂❤
Thank you! I'm your body size and weight so perfect video! Great Info! And yes you read my mind about the white FREEDOM? I'm getting myne in January so watching all your videos. I'm waiting for your next video lol cause I'm curious on how you got the new FREEDOM.
You beat me to it! I just filmed my suspension setup for the Wired Freedom to be released this Saturday. Good job, I hope mine is clear and concise as well.
Honestly I didn't even look if there is another guide out there. Figured since I was setting up the new bike, might as well share the info , especially since the default guide isn't the best. Good news is, there is plenty of room on YT for multiple videos on suspension! I noticed, you are in Granite Bay? Are there a lot of nice trails out that way?
@shootthechit Absolutely! Yes, there are a ton of trails...Folsom has something like 50 miles of well kept trails all over town. (Right next to Granite Bay).
Nice, I've ridden the American River Trail but thats about it. Sounds like a good community for bike riders. Can you get away with riding a Surron out there? I know some places they don't really seem to care if you ride them around
@shootthechit I have the Ultra now (used to have the light bee) but I haven't ridden it around the lake on the trails as I don't want to cause trouble or get any rangers involved, but there are definitely some other open areas that you can ride without issues. I sold my truck, so I haven't been able to take it out as much lately, but I'm working on that now!
As usual you produce great Wire ebike content. Thank's for the tip about the suspension settings. When I'd ordered my Wired Freedom I really wanted the orange color, but I was told by the owner that I would have to wait until February for delivery, I didn't have the patience to wait that long, so I got the royal blue or NEW York Giant's blue. Again, thanks for the tip. Also, What's the best programming to get that 30 miles range without burning out the battery quickly?
Is this particular model now available in white like yours ? The website still only shows all the previously advertised colors except white 🤷♂️ just curious.
Since you have ridden both the Wired Freedom & the Wired Cruiser which do YOU prefer? I am 66 & in good shape. I feel like the cruiser would a be better choice due to the ease of mounting a larger size bike. I am concerned that the cruiser step thru design is not as stable at the higher speeds (30-35). I may be wrong on this aspect. I love the design of the Freedom & its rear suspension. I typically carry a bag on the back rack which can make getting on & off a large bike a bit more challenging. However, if the the overall experience riding the Freedom is more exhilarating, then the Freedom might be for me. Your thoughts.
You were there when my cousin invented the first bicycle. It was made of carved logs, mammoth tusks, stone wheels, and coiled vines. Only you could figure out the compression rate on those vines. Still at it I see 😂
Outstanding explanation on rebound , compression, sag , damping , ect the whole shooting match. You just made every one else who's tried to explain it look like a jackass ! Including the motocross jackass's who can't explain it !
I go back and forth between being dead set on dropping $2,000 on a new wired freedom e-bike, and wanting an aventon abound cargo e-bike that my daughter can ride on the back all the time. Other times I'm desperately wanting a moped style ebike. The more research I do, the more I'm quite positive that the wired freedom is a no-brainer, simply because of its ability to move me at higher speeds than I had ever expected was possible before. Hell, I have no idea what to do. I would like to have more information about the beautiful bikes that the electric bike company has to offer also. Just in terms of appearance alone, I personally see no competition that can come anywhere close to the eye candy that that company manufacturers. I guess I'll never get everything I want in a bike, so I'd better be willing to compromise no matter which route I take, or..... I'd better get my ass to work. And come up with enough money to afford 2 or three different variants.
@@shootthechit I am quite conflicted, but I know that if I don't snatch up a wired freedom or wired cruiser, I will definitely going to regret it and then not too distant future!
Awesome--as a road biker, I didn't know anything about bike suspension, so this was really informative! Great instructions to DIY. Congrats on the white freedom! How's the rear axle--are the nuts threaded all the way through? That's a bummer about the pulling issue. I've been seen more and more people posting bent forks which is kind of a bummer. I hope Wired's able to sort it out!
The phrase you were looking for the rear shock is "critically damped". It means the shock compresses and recovers from being compressed without overshoot when it returns to the original position. Racing cars make use of "suspension dynos" which give real-time digital graphing to get them dialed in. When recovery is too slow during rebound, you are sacrificing range to absorb a secondary bump after an initial bump. And yes, on a bike it is done by "seat of the pants" feeling. The butt is smart and knows when it is all coming together in the best way. I have dome irregular (large/irregular) cobblestones in my area which is ridden over to confirm the settings on my suspension (different eBike which also have a cantilevered rear suspension with a 2 to 1 lever ratio). The bike is mostly used on the streets, so its initial compress percentage is set to about 18%.
Critically damped sounds so much cooler than what I was saying lol. With this shock so far it's been finding a balance with sag that also won't bottom out too easy. Don't think there is volume spacers available but all and all this shock has exceeded expectations for a "cheap shock"
You can go as fast as you want to pedal. The way Wired does their PAS is it gives you a set amount of assist per level. On PAS 1 it will cruise around 12 with regular pedaling if you aren't trying to go fast
I want to get a Turbo Levo, but I figure I'll start with the Freedom as my first ebike.. Will get a Levo next when they come out with a newer version .. Will save up for that day! But I just ordered the Freedom in Black.. Cant wait to get it and will set it up for trails, Recon and Exploration. Lol.. How do you like your Freedom compared to the Levo? I know, two completely different Animals!!! Thank you for your awesome content and Videos.. : )
Levo is great for single track and real trail riding, it also can climb ridiculous steep terrain. The Freedom is better for all around riding, but its much heavier and bigger. I've only ridden my Levo once since I got the Wired bike.. For around town its hard to beat the ability to do 30mph and have a throttle etc. I guess it depends on what type of riding you plan on doing
Oh chit,… I top out with a clunk on the front fork of my 24 Wired Freedom when I pull up to hop something. Can that be tuned out or is it just the reality of an economy heavy bike fork?
no, not at all. There are 2 settings on the pump, high volume (for airing up tires) and High pressure which you would use to do the shock. @@krakrman2719

My Freedom is very wobbly when I shake the handlebars. Customer Service says it’s normal due to the suspension. Any else have ex this problem? How do you fix it? Ty
I paid for the bike, but did not have to pay for new forks they are sending out. I've opened a few Ebikes now and it seems like they all end up taking damage along the way. I don't think it's a Wired specific issue
Try something a little more entry level for your first ebike and get the hang of fixing the shipping damage that all e-bikes come with so next time you’ll be more prepared and know what to expect
After attaching my pump to increase air when I remove my pump the shock just releases all air inside like a popped balloon, I even bought the pump off Wired website... I only increased air from 150 to 180 & made sure to charge the neg air by bouncing seat as shown every 10%. I cant stop the air from completely leaking out now after pumping...

The forks make a metallic rattle sound when you rode off the curb like something is lose. Might be part of your pulling issue. Or is that normal?
It's the fender rattling. The pulling issue has since been resolved by replacing the front fork.
